Mod $p$ Buchstaber invariant
We investigate the mod $p$ Buchstaber invariant of the skeleta of simplices, for a prime number $p$, and compare them for different values of $p$. For $p=2$, the invariant is the real Buchstaber invariant. Our findings reveal that these values are generally distinct. Additionally, we determine or estimate the mod $p$ Buchstaber invariants of certain universal simplicial complexes $X(\F_p^n)$.
On pyramidal groups whose number of involutions is a prime power
A Kirkman Triple System $Γ$ is called $m$-pyramidal if there exists a subgroup $G$ of the automorphism group of $Γ$ that fixes $m$ points and acts regularly on the other points. Such group $G$ admits a unique conjugacy class $C$ of involutions (elements of order $2$) and $|C|=m$. We call groups with this property $m$-pyramidal. We prove that, if $m$ is an odd prime power $p^k$, with $p \neq 7$, then every $m$-pyramidal group is solvable if and only if either $m=9$ or $k$ is odd. The primitive permutation groups play an important role in the proof. We also determine the orders of the $m$-pyramidal groups when $m$ is a prime number.
Characterizations of $p$-groups whose power graphs satisfy certain connectivity conditions
Let $Γ$ be an undirected and simple graph. A set $ S $ of vertices in $Γ$ is called a {cyclic vertex cutset} of $Γ$ if $Γ- S$ is disconnected and has at least two components containing cycles. If $Γ$ has a cyclic vertex cutset, then it is said to be {cyclically separable}. The {cyclic vertex connectivity} of $Γ$ is the minimum of cardinalities of the cyclic vertex cutsets of $Γ$. The {power graph} $\mathcal{P}(G)$ of a group $G$ is the undirected and simple graph whose vertices are the elements $G$ and two vertices are adjacent if one of them is the power of other in $G$. In this paper, we first characterize the finite $ p $-groups ($p$ is a prime number) whose power graphs are cyclically separable in terms of their maximal cyclic subgroups. Then we characterize the finite $ p $-groups whose power graphs have equal vertex connectivity and cyclic vertex connectivity.
Graphs with three and four distinct eigenvalues based on circulants
In this paper, we aim to address the open questions raised in various recent papers regarding characterization of circulant graphs with three or four distinct eigenvalues in their spectra. Our focus is on providing characterizations and constructing classes of graphs falling under this specific category. We present a characterization of circulant graphs with prime number order and unitary Cayley graphs with arbitrary order, both of which possess spectra displaying three or four distinct eigenvalues. Various constructions of circulant graphs with composite orders are provided whose spectra consist of four distinct eigenvalues. These constructions primarily utilize specific subgraphs of circulant graphs that already possess two or three eigenvalues in their spectra, employing graph operations like the tensor product, the union, and the complement. Finally, we characterize the iterated line graphs of unitary Cayley graphs whose spectra contain three or four distinct eigenvalues, and we show their non-circulant nature.
Ergodic averages for sparse sequences along primes
We investigate the limiting behavior of multiple ergodic averages along sparse sequences evaluated at prime numbers. Our sequences arise from smooth and well-behaved functions that have polynomial growth. Central to this topic is a comparison result between standard Cesáro averages along positive integers and averages weighted by the (modified) von Mangoldt function. The main ingredients are a recent result of Matomäki, Shao, Tao and Teräväinen on the Gowers uniformity of the latter function in short intervals, a lifting argument that allows one to pass from actions of integers to flows, a simultaneous (variable) polynomial approximation in appropriate short intervals, and some quantitative equidistribution results for the former polynomials. We derive numerous applications in multiple recurrence, additive combinatorics, and equidistribution in nilmanifolds along primes. In particular, we deduce that any set of positive density contains arithmetic progressions with step $\lfloor p^c \rfloor$, where $c$ is a positive non-integer and $p$ denotes a prime, establishing a conjecture of Frantzikinakis.
On towers of Isogeny graphs with full level structure
Let $p,q,l$ be three distinct prime numbers and let $N$ be a positive integer coprime to $pql$. For an integer $n\ge 0$, we define the directed graph $X_l^q(p^nN)$ whose vertices are given by isomorphism classes of elliptic curves over a finite field of characteristic $q$ equipped with a level $p^nN$ structure. The edges of $X_l^q(p^nN)$ are given by $l$-isogenies. We are interested in when the connected components of $X_l^q(p^nN)$ give rise to a tower of Galois covers as $n$ varies. We show that only in the supersingular case we do get a tower of Galois covers. We also study similar towers of isogeny graphs given by oriented supersingular curves, as introduced by Colò-Kohel, enhanced with a level structure.
Asymptotics of Reciprocal Supernorm Partition Statistics
We consider two multiplicative statistics on the set of integer partitions: the norm of a partition, which is the product of its parts, and the supernorm of a partition, which is the product of the prime numbers $p_i$ indexed by its parts $i$. We introduce and study new statistics that are sums of reciprocals of supernorms on three statistical ensembles of partitions, labelled by their size $|λ|=n$, their perimeter equaling $n$, and their largest part equaling $n$. We show that the cumulative statistics of the reciprocal supernorm for each of the three ensembles are asymptotic to $e^γ \log n$ as $n \to \infty$.
Boundes for Boxicity of some classes of graphs
Let $box(G)$ be the boxicity of a graph $G$, $G[H_1,H_2,\ldots, H_n]$ be the $G$-generalized join graph of $n$-pairwise disjoint graphs $H_1,H_2,\ldots, H_n$, $G^d_k$ be a circular clique graph (where $k\geq 2d$) and $Γ(R)$ be the zero-divisor graph of a commutative ring $R$. In this paper, we prove that $χ(G^d_k)\geq box(G^d_k)$, for all $k$ and $d$ with $k\geq 2d$. This generalizes the results proved in \cite{Aki}. Also we obtain that $box(G[H_1,H_2,\ldots,H_n])\leq \mathop\sum\limits_{i=1}^nbox(H_i)$. As a consequence of this result, we obtain a bound for boxicity of zero-divisor graph of a finite commutative ring with unity. In particular, if $R$ is a finite commutative non-zero reduced ring with unity, then $χ(Γ(R))\leq box(Γ(R))\leq 2^{χ(Γ(R))}-2$. where $χ(Γ(R))$ is the chromatic number of $Γ(R)$. Moreover, we show that if $N= \prod\limits_{i=1}^{a}p_i^{2n_i} \prod\limits_{j=1}^{b}q_j^{2m_j+1}$ is a composite number, where $p_i$'s and $q_j$'s are distinct prime numbers, then $box(Γ(\mathbb{Z}_N))\leq \big(\mathop\prod\limits_{i=1}^{a}(2n_i+1)\mathop\prod\limits_{j=1}^{b}(2m_j+2)\big)-\big(\mathop\prod\limits_{i=1}^{a}(n_i+1)\mathop\prod\limits_{j=1}^{b}(m_j+1)\big)-1$, where $\mathbb{Z}_N$ is the ring of integers modulo $N$. Further, we prove that, $box(Γ(\mathbb{Z}_N))=1$ if and only if either $N=p^n$ for some prime number $p$ and some positive integer $n\geq 2$ or $N=2p$ for some odd prime number $p$.
Prime and polynomial distances in colourings of the plane
We give two extensions of the recent theorem of the first author that the odd distance graph has unbounded chromatic number. The first is that for any non-constant polynomial $f$ with integer coefficients and positive leading coefficient, every finite colouring of the plane contains a monochromatic pair of distinct points whose distance is equal to $f(n)$ for some integer $n$. The second is that for every finite colouring of the plane, there is a monochromatic pair of points whose distance is a prime number.
Sumsets with a minimum number of distinct terms
For a set $A$ of $k$ elements from an additive abelian group $G$ and a positive integer $r \leq k$, we consider the set of elements of $G$ that can be written as a sum of $h$ elements of $A$ with at least $r$ distinct elements. We denote this set by $h^{(\geq r)}A$. The set $h^{(\geq r)}A$ generalizes the classical sumsets $hA$ and $h\hat{}A$ for $r=1$ and $r=h$, respectively. As the main result of this article, we give an upper bound for the minimum size of $h^{(\geq r)}A$ over $\mathbb{Z}_m$ for $m \geq 2$. Further, by an observation relating the sumsets $hA$, $h\hat{}A$, and $h^{(\geq r)}A$ we obtain the sharp lower bound on the size of $h^{(\geq r)}A$ and also characterize the set $A$ for which the lower bound on the size of $h^{(\geq r)}A$ is tight over the groups $\mathbb{Z}$ and $\mathbb{Z}_p$, where $p$ is a prime number.
On the Zeta functions of supersingular isogeny graphs and modular curves
Let $p$ and $q$ be distinct prime numbers, with $q\equiv 1\pmod{12}$. Let $N$ be a positive integer that is coprime to $pq$. We prove a formula relating the Hasse--Weil zeta function of the modular curve $X_0(qN)_{\mathbb{F}_q}$ to the Ihara zeta function of the $p$-isogeny graphs of supersingular elliptic curves defined over $\overline{\mathbb{F}_q}$ equipped with a $Γ_0(N)$-level structure. When $N=1$, this recovers a result of Sugiyama.
Codes and Orbit Covers of Finite Abelian Groups
It is well known that the discrete analogue of a lattice is a linear code which is a vector subspace of Hamming space $\mathbb{F}^n$. The set $\mathbb{F}$ is a finite field and $n \in \mathbb{Z}_{>0}$. Our attempt is to construct a class of lattices such that its discrete analogues are variable length non-linear codes. Let $\mathcal{G}$ and $\mathcal{H}$ be two finite groups, and let $\mathcal{S}$ be a fixed set of generators for $\mathcal{G}$. The homomorphism code is defined as the set of all homomorphisms from $\mathcal{G}$ to $\mathcal{H}$, denoted by, $\mathcal{C} = Hom(\mathcal{G}, \mathcal{H})$. To each homomorphism $\varphi$ between $\mathcal{G}$ and $\mathcal{H}$, a codeword $c_\varphi$ is associated, it is a vector of values of $\varphi$ on the generators in $\mathcal{S}$, that is, $c_\varphi = (\varphi(s_1), \varphi(s_2), \dots, \varphi(s_k))$, where $\varphi(s_i)$ is the image of $s_i \in \mathcal{S}$, $1 \leq i \leq k$. We provide a design to construct a variable length binary non-linear code called as automorphism orbit code from a finite abelian $p$-group of rank more than 1, where $p$ is a prime number. For each finite abelian $p$-group, the codewords of the automorphism orbit code are variable length codewords called as automorphism orbit codewords. Note that homomorphism codes are determined by homomorphisms between groups, whereas automorphism orbit codes are specified by partitions of a number, orbits of a group action, homomorphisms and automorphisms of groups. We make use of elements of $Hom(\mathcal{G}, \mathcal{H})$ to present a cover relation for bit strings of codewords of an automorphism orbit code and formulate a lattice of variable length non-linear codes. Finally, we discuss some information related to the future research work on connections to representation theory of groups and algebras.
A study on $A_α$-spectrum and $A_α$-energy of unitary addition Cayley graphs
The unitary addition Cayley graph $G_n$, $n\in Z^+$ is the graph whose vertex set is $Z_n$, the ring of integers modulo $n$ and two vertices $u$ and $v$ are adjacent if and only if $u + v \in \cup_n$ where $\cup_n$ is the set of all units of the ring. The $A_α$-matrix of a graph $G$ is defined as $A_α(G) = αD(G) + (1-α)A(G)$, $α\in [0, 1]$, where $D(G)$ is the diagonal matrix of vertex degrees and $A(G)$ is the adjacency matrix of $G$. In this paper, we investigate the $A_α$-eigenvalues for unitary addition Cayley graph and its complement. We determine bounds for $A_α$-eigenvalues of unitary addition Cayley graph when its order is odd. Consequently, we compute the $A_α$-energy of both $G_n$ and its complement, $\overline{G_n}$, for $n={p}^m$ where ${p}$ is a prime number and $n$ even. Moreover, we obtain some bounds for energies of $G_n$ and $\overline{G}_n$ when $n$ is odd. We also define $A_α$-borderenergetic and $A_α$-hyperenergetic graphs and observe some classes for each.
Transformation, Identification, and Inversion of Goldberg-Coxeter Fullerenes
It is difficult to identify a G-C fullerene directly from its dimensions as its lattice is not proportional to that of its archetype in general, although they have the same three-dimensional shape. In this paper, the area scale factor of a G-C fullerene is proved to be an integer, which can be calculated from its dimensions. All the G-C transformations are k-inflations that can be easily identified and inversed, primary transformations whose area scale factors are prime numbers, or composite transformations whose area scale factors are the product of those of its sub-transformations. As the result, a method to identify any G-C fullerenes according to the area scale factor was presented.
Distribution of Andrews' Singular Overpartitions $\overline{C}_{p,1}(n)$
Andrews introduced the partition function $\overline{C}_{k, i}(n)$, called singular overpartition, which counts the number of overpartitions of $n$ in which no part is divisible by $k$ and only parts $\equiv \pm i\pmod{k}$ may be overlined. We study the parity and distribution results for $\overline{C}_{k,i}(n),$ where $k>3$ and $1\leq i \leq \left\lfloor\frac{k}{2}\right\rfloor$. More particularly, we prove that for each integer $\ell\geq 2$ depending on $k$ and $i$, the interval $\left[\ell, \frac{\ell(3\ell+1)}{2}\right]$ $\Big($resp.\ $\left[2\ell-1, \frac{\ell(3\ell-1)}{2}\right] \Big)$ contains an integer $n$ such that $\overline{C}_{k,i}(n)$ is even (resp.\ odd). Finally we study the distribution for $\overline{C}_{p,1}(n)$ where $p\geq 5$ be a prime number.
Non-Cayley-Isomorphic Cayley graphs from non-Cayley-Isomorphic Cayley digraphs
A finite group $G$ is a "non-DCI group" if there exist subsets $S_1$ and $S_2$ of $G$, such that the associated Cayley digraphs $C\overrightarrow{ay}(G;S_1)$ and $C\overrightarrow{ay}(G;S_2)$ are isomorphic, but no automorphism of $G$ carries $S_1$ to $S_2$. Furthermore, $G$ is a "non-CI group" if the subsets $S_1$ and $S_2$ can be chosen to be closed under inverses, so we have undirected Cayley graphs $Cay(G;S_1)$ and $Cay(G;S_2)$.
We show that if $p$ is a prime number, and the elementary abelian $p$-group $(\mathbb{Z}_p)^r$ is a non-DCI group, then $(\mathbb{Z}_p)^{r+3}$ is a non-CI group. In most cases, we can also show that $(\mathbb{Z}_p)^{r+2}$ is a non-CI group. In particular, from Pablo Spiga's proof that $(\mathbb{Z}_p)^8$ is a non-DCI group, we conclude that $(\mathbb{Z}_3)^{10}$ is a non-CI group. This is the first example of a non-CI elementary abelian $3$-group.

We first give two methods based on the representation theory of symmetric groups to study the largest size $P(n,d)$ of permutation codes of length $n$ i.e. subsets of the set $S_n$ all permutations on $\{1,\dots,n\}$ with the minimum distance (at least) $d$ under the Kendall $τ$-metric. The first method is an integer programming problem obtained from the transitive actions of $S_n$. The second method can be applied to refute the existence of perfect codes in $S_n$.\\ Here we reduce the known upper bound $(n-1)!-1$ for $P(n,3)$ to $(n-1)!-\lceil\frac{n}{3}\rceil+2\leq (n-1)!-2$, whenever $n\geq 11$ is any prime number. If $n=6$, $7$, $11$, $13$, $14$, $15$, $17$, the known upper bound for $P(n,3)$ is decreased by $3,3,9,11,1,1,4$, respectively.
Nonperiodic tilings related to Stern's diatomic series and based on tiles decorated with elements of $\mathbb{F}_p$
This paper presents the construction and various properties of substitution tilings related to Stern's diatomic series and based on tiles decorated with elements of $\mathbb{F}_p$ for some odd prime number $p$. These substitution tilings are additive in a sense that will be clarified later and lead to new nonperiodic tilings in one and two dimensions.
Essential $\mathcal{F}$-sets of $\mathbb{N}$ under nonhomogeneous spectra
Let $α>0$ and $0<γ<1$. Define $g_{α,γ}:\mathbb{N}\rightarrow\mathbb{N}$ by $g_{α,γ}\left(n\right)=\lfloorαn+γ\rfloor$. The set $\left\{ g_{α,γ}\left(n\right):n\in\mathbb{N}\right\} $ is called the nonhomogeneous spectrum of $α$ and $γ$. We refer to the maps $g_{α,γ}$ as nonhomogeneous spectra. In \cite{BHK}, Bergelson, Hindman and Kra showed that if $A$ is an $IP$-set, a central set, an $IP^{\star}$-set, or a central$^{\star}$-set, then $g_{α,γ}\left[A\right]$ is the corresponding objects. Hindman and Johnsons extended this result to include several other notions of largeness: $C$-sets, $J$-sets, strongly central sets, piecwise syndetic sets, $AP$-sets syndetic set, $C^{\star}$-sets, strongly central$^{\star}$- sets . In \cite{DHS}, De, Hindman and Strauss introduced $C$-set and $J$-set and showed that $C$-sets satisfy the conclusion of the Central Sets Theorem. To prepare this article, we have been strongly motivated by the fact that $C$-sets are essential $\mathcal{J}$-sets. In this article, we prove some new results regarding nonhomogeneous spectra of essential $\mathcal{F}$-sets for shift invariant $\mathcal{F}$-sets. We have a special interest in the family $\mathcal{HSD}=\left\{ A\subseteq\mathbb{N}:\sum_{n\in A}\frac{1}{n}=\infty\right\} $ as this family is directly connected with the famous Erdős sum of reciprocal conjecture and as a consequence we get $g_{α,γ}\left[\mathbb{P}\right]\in\mathcal{HSD}$, where $\mathbb{P}$ is the set of prime numbers in $\mathbb{N}$. Throughout this article, we use some elementary techniques and algebra of the Stone-Čech compactifications of discrete semigroups.
On the Paley graph of a quadratic character
Paley graphs form a nice link between the distribution of quadratic residues and graph theory. These graphs possess remarkable properties which make them useful in several branches of mathematics. Classically, for each prime number $p$ we can construct the corresponding Paley graph using quadratic and non-quadratic residues modulo $p$. Therefore, Paley graphs are naturally associated with the Legendre symbol at $p$ which is a quadratic Dirichlet character of conductor $p$. In this article, we introduce the generalized Paley graphs. These are graphs that are associated with a general quadratic Dirichlet character. We will then provide some of their basic properties. In particular, we describe their spectrum explicitly. We then use those generalized Paley graphs to construct some new families of Ramanujan graphs. Finally, using special values of $L$-functions, we provide an effective upper bound for their Cheeger number.
