Let $\mathcal{H}$ be a Coxeter hyperplane arrangement in $n$-dimensional Euclidean space. Assume that the negative of the identity map belongs to the associated Coxeter group $W$. Furthermore assume that the arrangement is not of type $A_1^n$. Let $K$ be a measurable subset of the Euclidean space with finite volume which is stable by the Coxeter group $W$ and let $a$ be a point such that $K$ contains the convex hull of the orbit of the point $a$ under the group $W$. In a previous article the authors proved the generalized pizza theorem: that the alternating sum over the chambers $T$ of $\mathcal{H}$ of the volumes of the intersections $T\cap(K+a)$ is zero. In this paper we give a dissection proof of this result. In fact, we lift the identity to an abstract dissection group to obtain a similar identity that replaces the volume by any valuation that is invariant under affine isometries. This includes the cases of all intrinsic volumes. Apart from basic geometry, the main ingredient is a theorem of the authors where we relate the alternating sum of the values of certain valuations over the chambers of a Coxeter arrangement to similar alternating sums for simpler subarrangements called $2$-structures introduced by Herb to study discrete series characters of real reduced groups.

For fixed graphs $F$ and $H$, the generalized Turán problem asks for the maximum number $ex(n,H,F)$ of copies of $H$ that an $n$-vertex $F$-free graph can have. In this paper, we focus on cases with $F$ being $B_{r,s}$, the graph consisting of two cliques of size $s$ sharing $r$ common vertices. We determine $ex(n,K_t,B_{r,0})$, $ex(n,K_t,B_{r,1})$ and $ex(n,K_{a,b},B_{3,1})$ for all values of $a,b,r,t$ if $n$ is large enough.

We study generating functions of strict and non-strict order polynomials of series-parallel posets, called order series. These order series are closely related to Ehrhart series and h*-polynomials of the associated order polytopes. We explain how they can be understood as algebras over a certain operad of posets. Our main results are based on the fact that the order series of chains form a basis in the space of order series. This allows to reduce the search space of an algorithm that finds for a given power series f, if possible, a poset P such that f is the generating function of the order polynomial of P. In terms of Ehrhart theory of order polytopes, the coordinates with respect to this basis describe the number of (internal) simplices in the canonical triangulation of the order polytope of P. Furthermore, we derive a new proof of the reciprocity theorem of Stanley. As an application, we find new identities for binomial coefficients and for finite partitions that allow for empty sets, and we describe properties of the negative hypergeometric distribution.
Star coloring of sparse graphs

A proper coloring of the vertices of a graph is called a \emph{star coloring} if the union of every two color classes induces a star forest. The star chromatic number $χ_s(G)$ is the smallest number of colors required to obtain a star coloring of $G$. In this paper, we study the relationship between the star chromatic number $χ_s(G)$ and the maximum average degree $\mbox{Mad}(G)$ of a graph $G$. We prove that: (1) If $G$ is a graph with $\mbox{Mad}(G) < \frac{26}{11}$, then $χ_s(G)\leq 4$. (2) If $G$ is a graph with $\mbox{Mad}(G) < \frac{18}{7}$ and girth at least 6, then $χ_s(G)\leq 5$. (3) If $G$ is a graph with $\mbox{Mad}(G) < \frac{8}{3}$ and girth at least 6, then $χ_s(G)\leq 6$. These results are obtained by proving that such graphs admit a particular decomposition into a forest and some independent sets.
Erdös-Ko-Rado sets of flags of finite sets

A flag of a finite set $S$ is a set $f$ of non-empty proper subsets of $S$ such that $A\subseteq B$ or $B\subseteq A$ for all $A,B\in f$. The set $\{|A|:A\in f\}$ is called the type of $f$. Two flags $f$ and $f'$ are in general position (with respect to $S$) when $A\cap B=\emptyset$ or $A\cup B=S$ for all $A\in f$ and $B\in f'$. We study sets of flags of a fixed type $T$ that are mutually not in general position and are interested in the largest cardinality of these sets. This is a generalization of the classical Erdös-Ko-Rado problem. We will give some basic facts and determine the largest cardinality in several non-trivial cases. For this we will define graphs whose vertices are flags and the problem is to determine the independence number of these graphs.
Constructions of betweenness-uniform graphs from trees

Betweenness centrality is a measure of the importance of a vertex x inside a network based on the fraction of shortest paths passing through x. We study a blow-up construction that has been shown to produce graphs with uniform distribution of betweenness. We disprove the conjecture about this procedure's universality by showing that trees with a diameter at least three cannot be transformed into betweenness-uniform by the blow-up construction. It remains open to characterize graphs for which the blow-up construction can produce betweenness-uniform graphs.

Let $T_G(x,y)$ be the Tutte polynomial of a graph $G$. In this paper we show that if $(G_n)_n$ is a sequence of $d$-regular graphs with girth $g(G_n)\to \infty$, then for $x\geq 1$ and $0\leq y\leq 1$ we have $$\lim_{n\to \infty}T_{G_n}(x,y)^{1/v(G_n)}=t_d(x,y),$$ where $$t_d(x,y)=\left\{\begin{array}{lc} (d-1)\left(\frac{(d-1)^2}{(d-1)^2-x}\right)^{d/2-1}&\ \ \mbox{if}\ x\leq d-1,\\ x\left(1+\frac{1}{x-1}\right)^{d/2-1} &\ \ \mbox{if}\ x> d-1. \end{array}\right.$$ independently of $y$ if $0\leq y\leq 1$. If $(G_n)_n$ is a sequence of random $d$-regular graphs, then the same statement holds true asymptotically almost surely.
This theorem generalizes results of McKay ($x=1,y=1$, spanning trees of random $d$-regular graphs) and Lyons ($x=1,y=1$, spanning trees of large-girth $d$-regular graphs). Interesting special cases are $T_G(2,1)$ counting the number of spanning forests, $T_G(2,0)$ counting the number of acyclic orientations.

We show that if $G$ is a $d$--regular graph on $n$ vertices, then the number of spanning forests $F(G)$ satisfies $F(G)\leq d^n$. The previous best bound due to Kahale and Schulman gave $(d+1/2+O(1/d))^n$. We also have the more precise conjecture that $$F(G)^{1/n}\leq \frac{(d-1)^{d-1}}{(d^2-2d-1)^{d/2-1}}.$$ If this conjecture is true, then the expression on the right hand side is the best possible.
Construction of equienergetic and Randic' equienergetic graphs
In this paper, we give several constructions for the pairs of graphs to be equienergetic and Randic' equienergetic graphs. Also, some new families of integral and Randic' integral graphs are obtained. As an application, a sequence of graphs established with reciprocal eigenvalue property and anti-reciprocal eigenvalue property.

Let us fix a prime $p$ and a homogeneous system of $m$ linear equations $a_{j,1}x_1+\dots+a_{j,k}x_k=0$ for $j=1,\dots,m$ with coefficients $a_{j,i}\in\mathbb{F}_p$. Suppose that $k\geq 3m$, that $a_{j,1}+\dots+a_{j,k}=0$ for $j=1,\dots,m$ and that every $m\times m$ minor of the $m\times k$ matrix $(a_{j,i})_{j,i}$ is non-singular. Then we prove that for any (large) $n$, any subset $A\subseteq\mathbb{F}_p^n$ of size $|A|> C\cdot Γ^n$ contains a solution $(x_1,\dots,x_k)\in A^k$ to the given system of equations such that the vectors $x_1,\dots,x_k\in A$ are all distinct. Here, $C$ and $Γ$ are constants only depending on $p$, $m$ and $k$ such that $Γ<p$.
The crucial point here is the condition for the vectors $x_1,\dots,x_k$ in the solution $(x_1,\dots,x_k)\in A^k$ to be distinct. If we relax this condition and only demand that $x_1,\dots,x_k$ are not all equal, then the statement would follow easily from Tao's slice rank polynomial method. However, handling the distinctness condition is much harder, and requires a new approach. While all previous combinatorial applications of the slice rank polynomial method have relied on the slice rank of diagonal tensors, we use a slice rank argument for a non-diagonal tensor in combination with combinatorial and probabilistic arguments.
Additive energies on spheres

In this paper, we study additive properties of finite sets of lattice points on spheres in $3$ and $4$ dimensions. Thus, given $d,m \in \mathbb{N}$, let $A$ be a set of lattice points $(x_1, \dots, x_d) \in \mathbb{Z}^d$ satisfying $x_1^2 + \dots + x_{d}^2 = m$. When $d=4$, we prove threshold breaking bounds for the additive energy of $A$, that is, we show that there are at most $O_ε(m^ε|A|^{2 + 1/3 - 1/1392})$ solutions to the equation $a_1 + a_2 = a_3 + a_4,$ with $a_1, \dots, a_4 \in A$. This improves upon a result of Bourgain and Demeter, and makes progress towards one of their conjectures. A further novelty of our method is that we are able to distinguish between the case of the sphere and the paraboloid in $\mathbb{Z}^4$, since the threshold bound is sharp in the latter case. We also obtain variants of this estimate when $d=3$, where we improve upon previous results of Benatar and Maffucci concerning lattice point correlations. Finally, we use our bounds on additive energies to deliver discrete restriction type estimates for the sphere.
On the enumeration of plane bipolar posets and transversal structures

We show that plane bipolar posets (i.e., plane bipolar orientations with no transitive edge) and transversal structures can be set in correspondence to certain (weighted) models of quadrant walks, via suitable specializations of a bijection due to Kenyon, Miller, Sheffield and Wilson. We then derive exact and asymptotic counting results. In particular we prove (computationally and then bijectively) that the number of plane bipolar posets on $n+2$ vertices equals the number of plane permutations of size $n$. Regarding transversal structures, for each $v\geq 0$ we consider $t_n(v)$ the number of such structures with $n+4$ vertices and weight $v$ per quadrangular inner face (the case $v=0$ corresponds to having only triangular inner faces). We obtain a recurrence to compute $t_n(v)$, and an asymptotic formula that for $v=0$ gives $t_n(0)\sim c\ \!(27/2)^nn^{-1-π/\mathrm{arccos}(7/8)}$ for some $c>0$, which also ensures that the associated generating function is not D-finite.
Generalized LR-drawings of trees
The LR-drawing-method is a method of drawing an ordered rooted binary tree based on drawing one root-to-leaf path on a vertical line and attaching recursively obtained drawings of the subtrees on the left and right. In this paper, we study how to generalize this drawing-method to trees of higher arity. We first prove that (with some careful modifications) the proof of existence of a special root-to-leaf path transfers to trees of higher arity. Then we use such paths to obtain generalized LR-drawings of trees of arbitrary arity.
Kostka semigroups and generalized Dyck paths
We prove a conjecture of S. Gao-J. Kiers-G. Orelowitz-A. Yong which asserts the reducibility of certain generalized Dyck paths. This gives a strengthening, and new proof, for their Width Bound Theorem on the Hilbert basis of the Kostka semigroup.
Subgraph Games in the Semi-Random Graph Process and Its Generalization to Hypergraphs

The semi-random graph process is a single-player game that begins with an empty graph on $n$ vertices. In each round, a vertex $u$ is presented to the player independently and uniformly at random. The player then adaptively selects a vertex $v$ and adds the edge $uv$ to the graph. For a fixed monotone graph property, the objective of the player is to force the graph to satisfy this property with high probability in as few rounds as possible.
We focus on the problem of constructing a subgraph isomorphic to an arbitrary, fixed graph $G$. Let $ω= ω(n)$ be any function tending to infinity as $n \to \infty$. In (Omri Ben-Eliezer et al. "Semi-random graph process". In: Random Structures & Algorithms 56.3 (2020), pp. 648-675) it was proved that asymptotically almost surely one can construct $G$ in less than $n^{(d-1)/d} ω$ rounds where $d \ge 2$ is the degeneracy of $G$. It was also proved that the result is sharp for $G = K_{d+1}$, that is, asymptotically almost surely it takes at least $n^{(d-1)/d} / ω$ rounds to create $K_{d+1}$. Moreover, the authors conjectured that their general upper bound is sharp for all graphs $G$. We prove this conjecture here.
We also consider a natural generalization of the process to $s$-uniform hypergraphs, the semi-random hypergraph process in which $r \ge 1$ vertices are presented at random, and the player then selects $s-r \ge 1$ vertices to form an edge of size~$s$. Our results for graphs easily generalize to hypergraphs when $r=1$; the threshold for constructing a fixed $s$-uniform hypergraph $G$ is, again, determined by the degeneracy of $G$. However, new challenges are mounting when $r \ge 2$; thresholds are not even known for complete hypergraphs. We provide bounds for this family and determine thresholds for some sparser hypergraphs.
Low Diameter Monochromatic Covers of Complete Multipartite Graphs

Let the diameter cover number, $D^t_r(G)$, denote the least integer $d$ such that under any $r$-coloring of the edges of the graph $G$, there exists a collection of $t$ monochromatic subgraphs of diameter at most $d$ such that every vertex of $G$ is contained in at least one of the subgraphs. We explore the diameter cover number with two colors and two subgraphs when $G$ is a complete multipartite graph with at least three parts. We determine exactly the value of $D_2^2(G)$ for all complete tripartite graphs $G$, and almost all complete multipartite graphs with more than three parts.

In this paper, we obtain a combinatorial formula for computing the Betti numbers in the linear strand of edge ideals of bipartite Kneser graphs. We deduce lower and upper bounds for regularity of powers of edge ideals of these graphs in terms of associated combinatorial data and show that the lower bound is attained in some cases. Also, we obtain bounds on the projective dimension of edge ideals of these graphs in terms of combinatorial data.
Crystals, regularisation and the Mullineux map

The Mullineux map is a combinatorial function on partitions which describes the effect of tensoring a simple module for the symmetric group in characteristic $p$ with the one-dimensional sign representation. It can also be interpreted as an isomorphism between crystal graphs for $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_p$. We give a new combinatorial description of the Mullineux map by expressing this crystal isomorphism as a composition of isomorphisms between different crystals. These isomorphisms are defined in terms of new generalised regularisation maps introduced by Millan Berdasco.
We then given two applications of our new realisation of the Mullineux map, by providing purely combinatorial proofs of a conjecture of Lyle relating the Mullineux map with regularisation, and a theorem of Paget describing the Mullineux map in RoCK blocks of symmetric groups.
