We introduce the notion of nonevasive reduction, and show that for any monotone poset map $φ:P\to P$, the simplicial complex $Δ(P)$ {\tt NE}-reduces to $Δ(Q)$, for any $Q\supseteq{\text{\rm Fix}}φ$.
As a corollary, we prove that for any order-preserving map $φ:P\to P$ satisfying $φ(x)\geq x$, for any $x\in P$, the simplicial complex $Δ(P)$ collapses to $Δ(φ(P))$. We also obtain a generalization of Crapo's closure theorem.
Maximizing several cuts simultaneously
Consider two graphs G_1 and G_2 on the same vertex set V and suppose that G_i has m_i edges. Then there is a bipartition of V into two classes A and B so that for both i=1,2 the number of edges between A and B in G_i is (1+o(1))m_i/2. This answers a question of Bollobas and Scott. We also prove results about partitions into more than two vertex classes.
On the arithmetic product of combinatorial species

We introduce two new binary operations with combinatorial species; the arithmetic product and the modified arithmetic product. The arithmetic product gives combinatorial meaning to the product of Dirichlet series and to the Lambert series in the context of species. It allows us to introduce the notion of multiplicative species, a lifting to the combinatorial level of the classical notion of multiplicative arithmetic function. Interesting combinatorial constructions are introduced; cloned assemblies of structures, hyper-cloned trees, enriched rectangles, etc. Recent research of Cameron, Gewurz and Merola, about the product action in the context of oligomorphic groups, motivated the introduction of the modified arithmetic product. By using the modified arithmetic product we obtain new enumerative results. We also generalize and simplify some recent results of Canfield, and Pittel, related to the enumerations of tuples of partitions with restricted meet.
The Lie algebra of cyclic coinvariants of a symplectic space
We exhibit a natural Lie algebra structure on the graded space of cyclic coinvariants of a symplectic vector space.
Regular and chiral polytopes in low dimensions
There are two main thrusts in the theory of regular and chiral polytopes: the abstract, purely combinatorial aspect, and the geometric one of realizations. This brief survey concentrates on the latter. The dimension of a faithful realization of a finite abstract regular polytope in some euclidean space is no smaller than its rank, while that of a chiral polytope must strictly exceed the rank. There are similar restrictions on the dimensions of realizations of regular and chiral apeirotopes. From the viewpoint of realizations in a fixed dimension, the problems are now completely solved in up to three dimensions, while considerable progress has been made on the classification in four dimensions, the finite regular case again having been solved. This article reports on what has been done already, and what might be expected in the near future.
Tension continuous maps--their structure and applications
We consider mappings between edge sets of graphs that lift tensions to tensions. Such mappings are called tension-continuous mappings (shortly TT mappings). Existence of a TT mapping induces a (quasi)order on the class of graphs, which seems to be an essential extension of the homomorphism order (studied extensively, see [Hell-Nesetril]). In this paper we study the relationship of the homomorphism and TT orders. We stress the similarities and the differences in both deterministic and random setting. Particularly, we prove that TT order is dense and universal and we solve a problem of M. DeVos et al.

For every $k\in \mathbb{N}$, we produce a set of integers which is $k$-recurrent but not $(k+1)$-recurrent. This extends a result of Furstenberg who produced a 1-recurrent set which is not 2-recurrent. We discuss a similar result for convergence of multiple ergodic averages. Finally, we also point out a combinatorial consequence related to Szemer\' edi's theorem.

A higher level analog of Weyl modules over multi-variable currents is proposed. It is shown that the sum of their dual spaces form a commutative algebra. The structure of these modules and the geometry of the projective spectrum of this algebra is studied for the currents of dimension one and two. Along the way we prove some particular cases of the conjectures in [FL1] and propose a generalization of the notion of parking function representations.

We give in this note a weighted version of Brianchon-Gram's decomposition for a simple polytope. This weighted version is a direct consequence of the ordinary Brianchon-Gram formula.
Dyck paths and pattern-avoiding matchings

How many matchings on the vertex set V={1,2,...,2n} avoid a given configuration of three edges? Chen, Deng and Du have shown that the number of matchings that avoid three nesting edges is equal to the number of matchings avoiding three pairwise crossing edges. In this paper, we consider other forbidden configurations of size three. We present a bijection between matchings avoiding three crossing edges and matchings avoiding an edge nested below two crossing edges. This bijection uses non-crossing pairs of Dyck paths of length 2n as an intermediate step.
Apart from that, we give a bijection that maps matchings avoiding two nested edges crossed by a third edge onto the matchings avoiding all configurations from an infinite family, which contains the configuration consisting of three crossing edges. We use this bijection to show that for matchings of size n>3, it is easier to avoid three crossing edges than to avoid two nested edges crossed by a third edge.
In this updated version of this paper, we add new references to papers that have obtained analogous results in a different context.

We construct (k+-1)-regular graphs which provide sequences of expanders by adding or substracting appropriate 1-factors from given sequences of k-regular graphs. We compute numerical examples in a few cases for which the given sequences are from the work of Lubotzky, Phillips, and Sarnak (with k-1 the order of a finite field). If k+1 = 7, our construction results in a sequence of 7-regular expanders with all spectral gaps at least about 1.52.
The $k$-orbit theory and polycirculant conjecture
The paper contains a proof of the conjecture of M. Klin and D. Maru$\breve{\rm s}$i$\breve{\rm c}$ that an automorphism group of a transitive graph contains a permutation, decomposed in cycles of the same length. The proof is based on the $k$-orbit theory developed by author.

Serial and Unserial Combinatorial Families
This article presents the \emph{Serial and Unserial Methods} (SUM). The algorithms are strongly related to the first part of a classical reference in combinatorics, the \emph{Combinatorial algorithms for computers and calculators}, from Albert Nijenhuis and Herbert Wilf. The \emph{Serial Method} proposal is to obtain the output of a specific kind of combinatorial family from its position on the list of all combinatorial possibilities. The \emph{Unserial Method} is the inverted step of Serial Method, getting the serial number from the combinatorial family given as input. The \emph{serial number} is the position of the combinatorial family on the list.
Coherent Unit Actions on Operads and Hopf Algebras

Coherent unit actions on a binary, quadratic operad were introduced by Loday and were shown by him to give Hopf algebra structures on the free algebras when the operad is also regular with a splitting of associativity. Working with such operads, we characterize coherent unit actions in terms of linear equations of the generators of the operads. We then use these equations to give all possible operad relations that allow such coherent unit actions. We further show that coherent unit actions are preserved under taking products and thus yield Hopf algebras on the free object of the product operads when the factor operads have coherent unit actions. On the other hand, coherent unit actions are never preserved under taking the dual in the operadic sense except for the operad of associative algebras.

A class of new type graded infinite posets with minimal element are considered. These so called cobweb posets introduced recently by the present author provide a wide range of new noncommutative prefab combinatorial schema with characteristic graded subposets as primes. The schema are defined here via relaxing commutativity and associativity requirements imposed on the composition of prefabs by the fathers of this fertile concept. The construction and the very first basic properties of cobweb prefabs are pointed out in what follows. An another single valued commutative amd associative composision is also considered.

The problem of counting plane trees with $n$ edges and an even or an odd number of leaves was studied by Eu, Liu and Yeh, in connection with an identity on coloring nets due to Stanley. This identity was also obtained by Bonin, Shapiro and Simion in their study of Schröder paths, and it was recently derived by Coker using the Lagrange inversion formula. An equivalent problem for partitions was independently studied by Klazar. We present three parity reversing involutions, one for unlabelled plane trees, the other for labelled plane trees and one for 2-Motzkin paths which are in one-to-one correspondence with Dyck paths.
Combinatorial operators for Kronecker powers of representations of $§_n$
We present combinatorial operators for the expansion of the Kronecker product of irreducible representations of the symmetric group. These combinatorial operators are defined in the ring of symmetric functions and act on the Schur functions basis. This leads to a combinatorial description of the Kronecker powers of the irreducible representations indexed with the partition (n-1,1) which specializes the concept of oscillating tableaux in Young's lattice previously defined by S. Sundaram. We call our specialization {\it Kronecker tableaux}. Their combinatorial analysis leads to enumerative results for the multiplicity of any irreducible representation in the Kronecker powers of the form ${\c^{(n-1,1)}}^{\otimes k}$.
