Various Properties of Various Ultrafilters, Various Graph Width Parameters, and Various Connectivity Systems (with Survey)
This paper investigates ultrafilters in the context of connectivity systems, defined as pairs $(X, f)$ where $X$ is a finite set and $f$ is a symmetric submodular function. Ultrafilters, essential in topology and set theory, are extended to these systems, with a focus on their relationship to graph width parameters, which help analyze graph complexity. We demonstrate theorems for ultrafilters on connectivity systems and explore related concepts such as prefilters, ultra-prefilters, and subbases. New parameters for width, length, and depth are introduced, providing further insight into graph width. The study also includes a comparison of various graph width parameters and their related concepts, offering a foundation for future research in graph theory and computational complexity. Additionally, we explore connections to other mathematical disciplines, including set theory, lattice theory, and matroid theory, expanding the scope of ultrafilters and graph width. (It also includes information similar to that found in surveys, aiming to promote future research on graph width parameters.)

Let $G$ be a connected graph and let $d_G$ be the geodesic distance on $V(G)$. The metric spaces $(V(G), d_{G})$ are characterized up to isometry for all finite connected $G$ by David C. Kay and Gary Chartrand in 1964. The main result of the paper expands this characterization on the infinite connected graphs. We also prove that every metric space with integer distances between its points admits an isometric embedding into $(V(G), d_G)$ for suitable $G$.

The cochromatic number $ζ(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the smallest number of colors in a vertex-coloring of $G$ such that every color class forms an independent set or a clique. In three papers written around 1990, Erdős, Gimbel and collaborators raised several open problems regarding the relationship of the chromatic and cochromatic number of a graph. In this short note, we address several of these problems, in particular
-we disprove a conjecture of Erdős, Gimbel and Straight from 1988,
-answer negatively a problem posed by Erdős and Gimbel in 1993, and
-give positive evidence for a 1000\$--question of Erdős and Gimbel.
A Characterization of Lines in Finite Lie Incidence Geometries of Classical Type

We consider any classical Grassmannian geometry $Γ$; that is, any projective or polar Grassmann space. Suppose every line in $Γ$ contains $s+1$ points. Then we classify all sets of points in $Γ$ of cardinality $s+1$, with the property, that no object of opposite type in the corresponding building, is opposite every point of the set. It turns out that such sets are either lines, or hyperbolic lines in symplectic residues, or ovoids in large symplectic subquadrangles of rank 2 residues in characteristic 2. This is a far-reaching extension of a famous and fundamental result of Bose & Burton from the 1960s. We describe a new way to classify geometric lines in finite classical geometries and how our results correspond to blocking sets.

This paper is a continuation of earlier work of Arslan \cite{Ars}, who introduced the Mahonian number of type $B$ by using a new statistic on the hyperoctahedral group $B_{n}$, in response to questions he suggested in his paper entitled "{\it A combinatorial interpretation of Mahonian numbers of type $B$}" published in arXiv:2404.05099v1. We first give the Knuth-Netto formula and generating function for the subdiagonals on or below the main diagonal of the Mahonian numbers of type $B$, then its combinatorial interpretations by lattice path/partition and tiling. Next, we propose a $q$-analogue of Mahonian numbers of type $B$ by using a new statistics on the permutations of the hyperoctahedral group $B_n$ that we introduced, then we study their basic properties and their combinatorial interpretations by lattice path/partition and tiling. Finally, we prove combinatorially that the $q$-analogue of Mahonian numbers of type $B$ form a strongly $q$-log-concave sequence of polynomials in $k$, which implies that the Mahonian numbers of type $B$ form a log-concave sequence in $k$ and therefore unimodal.
Gapset Extensions, Theory and Computations
In this paper we extend some set theoretic concepts of numerical semigroups for arbitrary sub-semigroups of natural numbers. Then we characterized gapsets which leads to a more efficient computational approach towards numerical semigroups and finally we introduce the extension of gapsets and prove that the sequence of the number of gapsets of size $g$ is non-decreasing as a weak version of Bras-Amorós's conjecture.
Proving Norine's Conjecture holds for $n=7$ via SAT solvers
We say a red/blue edge-coloring of the $n$-dimensional cube graph, $Q_n$, is antipodal if all pairs of antipodal edges have different colors. Norine conjectured that in such a coloring there must exist a pair of antipodal vertices connected by a monochromatic path. Previous work has proven this conjecture for $n\le 6$. Using SAT solvers we verify that the conjecture holds for $n = 7$.

Extending a classic result of Johnson and Newman, this paper provides a matrix characterization for two generalized cospectral graphs with a pair of generalized cospectral vertex-deleted subgraphs. As an application, we present a new condition for the reconstructibility of a graph. In particular, we show that a graph with at least three vertices is reconstructible if there exists a vertex-deleted subgraph that is almost controllable and has a nontrivial automorphism.

We use spectral theory and algebraic geometry to establish a higher-degree analogue of a Szemerédi--Trotter-type theorem over finite fields, with an application to polynomial expansion.
Graphon branching processes and fractional isomorphism
In their study of the giant component in inhomogeneous random graphs, Bollobás, Janson, and Riordan introduced a class of branching processes parametrized by a possibly unbounded graphon. We prove that the tree structures underlying two such branching processes have the same distributions if and only if the corresponding graphons are fractionally isomorphic, a notion introduced by Grebík and Rocha.
A different class of branching processes was introduced by Hladký, Nachmias, and Tran in relation to uniform spanning trees in finite graphs approximating a given connected graphon. We prove that that the tree structures of two such branching processes have the same distributions if and only if the corresponding graphons are fractionally isomorphic up to scalar multiple. Combined with a recent result of Archer and Shalev, this implies that if uniform spanning trees of two dense graphs have a similar local structure, they have a similar scaling limit.
As a side result we give a characterization of fractional isomorphism for graphs as well as graphons in terms of their connected components.
Higher weight spectra and Betti numbers of Reed-Muller codes $RM_q(2,2)$
We determine the higher weight spectra of $q$-ary Reed-Muller codes $C_q=RM_q(2,2)$ for all prime powers $q$. This is equivalent to finding the usual weight distributions of all extension codes of $C_q$ over every field extension of $F_q$ of finite degree. To obtain our results we will utilize well-known connections between these weights and properties of the Stanley-Reisner rings of a series of matroids associated to each code $C_q$. In the process, we are able to explicitly determine all the graded Betti numbers of matroids associated to $C_q$ and its elongations.

Given any $\varepsilon>0$ we prove that every sufficiently large $n$-vertex $3$-graph $H$ where every pair of vertices is contained in at least $(1/3+\varepsilon)n$ edges contains a copy of $C_{10}$, i.e.\ the tight cycle on $10$ vertices. In fact we obtain the same conclusion for every cycle $C_\ell$ with $\ell\geq 19$.

We study the theta nonnegative part of Lagrangian Grassmannian. We show that it admits an orbital decomposition and is homeomorphic to a closed ball. We compare it with other positive structures. We show that it contains several totally nonnegative parts of Lagrangian Grassmannian subject to certain choices of pinnings and agrees with the nonnegativity of the generalized Plücker coordinates.

We use the theory of $x-y$ duality to propose a new definition / construction for the correlation differentials of topological recursion; we call it "generalized topological recursion". This new definition coincides with the original topological recursion of Chekhov-Eynard-Orantin in the regular case and allows, in particular, to get meaningful answers in a variety of irregular and degenerate situations.
Doubly alternating words in the positive part of $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$
This paper is about the positive part $U_q^+$ of the $q$-deformed enveloping algebra $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$. The algebra $U_q^+$ admits an embedding, due to Rosso, into a $q$-shuffle algebra $\mathbb{V}$. The underlying vector space of $\mathbb{V}$ is the free algebra on two generators $x,y$. Therefore, the algebra $\mathbb{V}$ has a basis consisting of the words in $x,y$. Let $U$ denote the image of $U_q^+$ under the Rosso embedding. In our first main result, we find all the words in $x,y$ that are contained in $U$. One type of solution is called alternating. The alternating words have been studied by Terwilliger. There is another type of solution, which we call doubly alternating. In our second main result, we display many commutator relations involving the doubly alternating words. In our third main result, we describe how the doubly alternating words are related to the alternating words.
Determinants of Hodge-Riemann forms
We calculate the determinant of the bilinear form in middle degree of the generic artinian reduction of the Stanley-Reisner ring of an odd-dimensional simplicial sphere. This proves the odd multiplicity conjecture of Papadakis and Petrotou and implies that this determinant is a complete invariant of the simplicial sphere. We extend this result to odd-dimensional connected oriented simplicial homology manifolds. In characteristic 2, we prove a generalization to the Hodge-Riemann forms of any connected simplicial homology manifold. To prove the latter theorem we establish the strong Lefschetz property for certain quotients of the Stanley-Reisner rings of connected simplicial pseudomanifolds.
Symmetrizing polytopes and posets
Motivated by the authors' work on permuto-associahedra, which can be considered as a symmetrization of the associahedron using the symmetric group, we introduce and study the $\mathfrak{G}$-symmetrization of an arbitrary polytope $P$ for any reflection group $\mathfrak{G}$. We show that the combinatorics, and moreover, the normal fan of such a symmetrization can be recovered from its refined fundamental fan, a decorated poset describing how the normal fan of $P$ subdivides the fundamental chamber associated to the reflection group $\mathfrak{G}$.
One important application of our results is providing a way to approach the realization problem of a $\mathfrak{G}$-symmetric poset F, that is, the problem of constructing a polytope whose face poset is F. Instead of working with the original poset F, we look at its dual poset T (which is $\mathfrak{G}$-symmetric as well) and focus on a generating subposet Z of T, and reduce the problem to realizing Z as a refined fundamental fan.
A biased edge coloring game

We combine the ideas of edge coloring games and asymmetric graph coloring games and define the \emph{$(m,1)$-edge coloring game}, which is alternatively played by two players Maker and Breaker on a finite simple graph $G$ with a set of colors $X$. Maker plays first and colors $m$ uncolored edges on each turn. Breaker colors only one uncolored edge on each turn. They make sure that adjacent edges get distinct colors. Maker wins if eventually every edge is colored; Breaker wins if at some point, the player who is playing cannot color any edge. We define the \emph{$(m,1)$-game chromatic index} of $G$ to be the smallest nonnegative integer $k$ such that Maker has a winning strategy with $|X|=k$. We give some general upper bounds on the $(m,1)$-game chromatic indices of trees, determine the exact $(m,1)$-game chromatic indices of some caterpillars and all wheels, and show that larger $m$ does not necessarily give us smaller $(m,1)$-game chromatic index.
When do the Kahn-Kalai Bounds Provide Nontrivial Information?

The Park-Pham theorem (previously known as the Kahn-Kalai conjecture), bounds the critical probability, $p_c(\mathcal{F})$, of the a non-trivial property $\mathcal{F}\subseteq 2^X$ that is closed under supersets by the product of a universal constant $K$, the expectation threshold of the property, $q(\mathcal{F})$, and the logarithm of the size of the property's largest minimal element, $\log\ell(\mathcal{F})$. That is, the Park-Pham theorem asserts that $p_c(\mathcal{F})\leq Kq(\mathcal{F})\log\ell(\mathcal{F})$. Since the critical probability $p_c(\mathcal{F})$ always satisfies $p_c(\mathcal{F})<1$, one may ask when the upper bound posed by Kahn and Kalai gives us more information than this--that is, when is it true that $Kq(\mathcal{F})\log\ell(\mathcal{F}) < 1$? In this short note, we provide a number of necessary conditions for this to happen and give a few sufficient conditions for the bounds to provide new (and, in fact, asymptotically perfect) information along the way. In the most interesting case where $\ell(\mathcal{F}_n)\rightarrow \infty$, we prove the following relatively strong necessary condition for the Kahn-Kalai bounds to provide nontrivial information: For every positive integer $t$, every collection of all-but-$t$ of the minimal elements of $\mathcal{F}_n$ may have nonempty intersection for only finitely many $n$. Consequently, not only must the number of minimal elements become arbitrarily large, but so too must the size of any cover. Intuitively, this means that such sequences $\mathcal{F}_n$ must occupy an ever-widening `wedge' in $2^{X_n}$: the further $\mathcal{F}_n$ climbs up $2^{X_n}$ in one area, the further it must spread down and across $2^{X_n}$ in another.
