Dyck Symmetric Functions and Applications to \(q,t\)-Catalan Polynomials
This paper develops three related combinatorial results for Dyck-type sequences. First, it constructs a row-insertion algorithm for dual Dyck sequences and extends it to Dyck tableaux. This construction gives a weight-preserving bijection between dual Dyck factorizations and pairs consisting of a Dyck tableau and a semistandard Young tableau of the same shape. As a consequence, the associated dual Dyck symmetric functions are Schur-positive, and the corresponding affine Dyck symmetric functions have the conjugate-shape Schur expansion.
Second, it applies these Dyck symmetric functions to the \(q,t\)-Catalan polynomial. It gives a two-column tableau formula for \(C_n(q,t)\), expressing it as a sum over Dyck \(m\)-skeletons and at-most-two-column Dyck tableaux with summands involving two-variable Schur functions.
Third, it develops a Dyck-skeleton formula for the deficit range \(\defc\le 2n-8\). Full and special Dyck skeletons, together with local \(\mathrm{East}\), \(\mathrm{West}\), \(\mathrm{up}\), and \(\mathrm{down}\) moves, organize the low-area half of each low-deficit slice into skeleton-indexed strings. The \(q,t\)-symmetry of \(C_n(q,t)\) supplies the complementary high-area half in the resulting interval formula.
Type C $K$-Stanley symmetric functions and Kraśkiewicz-Hecke insertion
We study Type C $K$-Stanley symmetric functions, which are $K$-theoretic extensions of the Type C Stanley symmetric functions. They are indexed by signed permutations and can be used to enumerate reduced words via their expansion into Schur $Q$-functions, which are indexed by strict partitions. A combinatorial description of the Schur $Q$- coefficients is given by Kraśkiewicz insertion. Similarly, their $K$-Stanley analogues are conjectured to expand positively into $GQ$'s, which are $K$-theory representatives for the Lagrangian Grassmannian introduced by Ikeda and Naruse also indexed by strict partitions. We introduce a $K$-theoretic analogue of Kraśkiewicz insertion, which can be used to enumerate 0-Hecke expressions for signed permutations and gives a conjectural combinatorial rule for computing this $GQ$ expansion.
We show the Type C $K$-Stanleys for certain fully commutative signed permutations are skew $GQ$'s. Combined with a Pfaffian formula of Anderson's, this allows us to prove Lewis and Marberg's conjecture that $GQ$'s of (skew) rectangle shape are $GQ$'s of trapezoid shape. Combined with our previous conjecture, this also gives an explicit combinatorial description of the skew $GQ$ expansion into $GQ$'s. As a consequence, we obtain a conjecture for the product of two $GQ$ functions where one has trapezoid shape.

We conjecture a formula for the rational $q,t$-Catalan polynomial $\mathcal{C}_{r/s}$ that is symmetric in $q$ and $t$ by definition. The conjecture posits that $\mathcal{C}_{r/s}$ can be written in terms of symmetric monomial strings indexed by maximal Dyck paths. We show that for any finite $d^*$, giving a combinatorial proof of our conjecture on the infinite set of functions $\{ \mathcal{C}_{r/s}^d: r\equiv 1 \mod s, \,\,\, d \leq d^*\}$ is equivalent to a finite counting problem.

We give combinatorial proofs of two types of duality for Grothendieck polynomials by constructing a unified combinatorial framework incorporating set-valued tableaux, musltiset-valued tableaux, reverse plane partitions and valued-set tableaux. Importantly, our proofs extend to proofs of these dualities for the refined Grothendieck polynomials. The second of these dualities was formerly unknown for the refined case.

We give a proof of the generalized Cauchy identity for double Grothendieck polynomials, a combinatorial interpretation of the stable double Grothendieck polynomials in terms of triples of tableaux, and an interpolation between the stable double Grothendieck polynomial and the weak stable double Grothendieck polynomial. This so-called half weak stable double Grothendieck polynomial evaluated at $x=y$ generalizes the type $B$ Stanley symmetric function of Billey and Haiman and is $Q$-Schur positive by degree. We conclude with two open problems as well as a conjecture regarding the $K$-theoretic analogues of factorial Schur $Q$-functions defined by Ikeda and Naruse. The conjecture is supported by code given in the appendices.

The symmetric Grothendieck polynomials generalize Schur polynomials and are Schur-positive by degree. Combinatorially this is manifested as the generalization of semistandard Young tableaux by set-valued tableaux. We define a (weak) symmetric $P$-Grothendieck polynomial which generalizes $P$-Schur polynomials in the same way. Combinatorially this is manifested as the generalization of shifted semistandard Young tableaux by a new type of tableaux which we call shifted multiset tableaux.

We give a $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_n)$-crystal structure on multiset-valued tableaux, hook-valued tableaux, and valued-set tableaux, whose generating functions are the weak symmetric, canonical, and dual weak symmetric Grothendieck functions, respectively. We show the result is isomorphic to a (generally infinite) direct sum of highest weight crystals, and for multiset-valued tableaux and valued-set tableaux, we provide an explicit bijection. As a consequence, these generating functions are Schur positive; in particular, the canonical Grothendieck functions, which was not previously known. We also give an extension of Hecke insertion to express a dual stable Grothendieck function as a sum of Schur functions.

Recent work of the first author, Negut and Rasmussen, and of Oblomkov and Rozansky in the context of Khovanov--Rozansky knot homology produces a family of polynomials in $q$ and $t$ labeled by integer sequences. These polynomials can be expressed as equivariant Euler characteristics of certain line bundles on flag Hilbert schemes. The $q,t$-Catalan numbers and their rational analogues are special cases of this construction. In this paper, we give a purely combinatorial treatment of these polynomials and show that in many cases they have nonnegative integer coefficients.
For sequences of length at most 4, we prove that these coefficients enumerate subdiagrams in a certain fixed Young diagram and give an explicit symmetric chain decomposition of the set of such diagrams. This strengthens results of Lee, Li and Loehr for $(4,n)$ rational $q,t$-Catalan numbers.

We provide a characterization of the crystal bases for the quantum queer superalgebra recently introduced by Grantcharov et al.. This characterization is a combination of local queer axioms generalizing Stembridge's local axioms for crystal bases for simply-laced root systems, which were recently introduced by Assaf and Oguz, with further axioms and a new graph $G$ characterizing the relations of the type $A$ components of the queer crystal. We provide a counterexample to Assaf's and Oguz' conjecture that the local queer axioms uniquely characterize the queer supercrystal. We obtain a combinatorial description of the graph $G$ on the type $A$ components by providing explicit combinatorial rules for the odd queer operators on certain highest weight elements.
Generalized Staircase Tableaux: Symmetry and Applications
We define a number of related combinatorial objects, each of which possesses a surprising symmetry. We include several applications such as a combinatorial explanation for certain fixed points of the involution $ω$ on the ring of symmetric functions, as well as a relationship between certain skew Schur functions and skew $Q$-Schur functions. We give a $t$-deformation of these $Q$-Schur functions, and show that it is Schur positive, including a combinatorial description of the Schur coefficients. A corollary of our results is the equality of skew $Q$-Schur functions: $Q_{λ+δ/μ+ δ}=Q_{λ'+δ/μ' + δ}$ for $μ\subseteq λ$ and $δ=(n,\ldots,1)$ for some $n > l(λ)$.

We relate the combinatorial definitions of the type $A_n$ and type $C_n$ Stanley symmetric functions, via a combinatorially defined "double Stanley symmetric function," which gives the type $A$ case at $(\mathbf{x},\mathbf{0})$ and gives the type $C$ case at $(\mathbf{x},\mathbf{x})$. We induce a type $A$ bicrystal structure on the underlying combinatorial objects of this function which has previously been done in the type $A$ and type $C$ cases. Next we prove a few statements about the algebraic relationship of these three Stanley symmetric functions. We conclude with some conjectures about what happens when we generalize our constructions to type $C$.

Combining results of T.K. Lam and J. Stembridge, the type $C$ Stanley symmetric function $F_w^C(\mathbf{x})$, indexed by an element $w$ in the type $C$ Coxeter group, has a nonnegative integer expansion in terms of Schur functions. We provide a crystal theoretic explanation of this fact and give an explicit combinatorial description of the coefficients in the Schur expansion in terms of highest weight crystal elements.
An Elementary Proof of the Hook Content Formula
In this paper we prove the Hook Content Formula (HCF) (and Hook Length Formula (HLF)) using induction. Instead of working with Young tableaux directly, we introduce a vector notation (sequences of these vectors represent ("single-vote") ballot sequences in the case of SYT, and "multi-vote" ballot sequences--where the voter may choose any number of candidates--in the case of SSYT) to aid in the inductive argument. Next, we establish an identity which allows us to prove a formula that counts multi-vote ballot sequences. We demonstrate that, in the non-degenerate case (when this formula counts SSYTs) it coincides with the HCF. To do the latter, we borrow parts of a technique outlined by Wilson and Van Lint in their proof of the HLF. We then establish an identity, which is really a special case of the equation mentioned above, and show that the HLF follows from it. (Wilson and Van Lint prove this identity directly, and use it to prove the HLF in a similar manner.) We then note the appearance of an expression resembling the Weyl dimension formula and conclude with a combinatorial result.
