Pattern avoidance in revised ascent sequences
Inspired by the definition of modified ascent sequences, we introduce a new class of integer sequences called revised ascent sequences. These sequences are defined as Cayley permutations where each entry is a leftmost occurrence if and only if it serves as an ascent bottom. We construct a bijection between ascent sequences and revised ascent sequences by adapting the classic hat map, which transforms ascent sequences into modified ascent sequences. Additionally, we investigate revised ascent sequences that avoid a single pattern, leading to a wealth of enumerative results. Our main techniques include the use of bijections, generating trees, generating functions, and the kernel method.
On the enumeration of permutations avoiding chains of patterns
In 2019, Bóna and Smith introduced the notion of strong pattern avoidance, saying that a permutation $π$ strongly avoids a pattern $σ$ if $π$ and $π^2$ both avoid $σ$. Recently, Archer and Geary generalized the idea of strong pattern avoidance to chain avoidance, in which a permutation $π$ avoids a chain of patterns $(τ^{(1)}:τ^{(2)}:\cdots:τ^{(k)})$ if the $i$-th power of the permutation avoids the pattern $τ^{(i)}$ for $1\leq i\leq k$. In this paper, we give explicit formulae for the number of sets of permutations avoiding certain chains of patterns. Our results give affirmative answers to two conjectures proposed by Archer and Geary.

Ascent sequences were introduced by Bousquet-Mélou, Claesson, Dukes and Kitaev, and are in bijection with unlabeled $(2+2)$-free posets, Fishburn matrices, permutations avoiding a bivincular pattern of length $3$, and Stoimenow matchings. Analogous results for weak ascent sequences have been obtained by Bényi, Claesson and Dukes. Recently, Dukes and Sagan introduced a more general class of sequences which are called $d$-ascent sequences. They showed that some maps from the weak case can be extended to bijections for general $d$ while the extensions of others continue to be injective but not surjective. The main objective of this paper is to restore these injections to bijections. To be specific, we introduce a class of permutations which we call difference $d$ permutations and a class of factorial posets which we call difference $d$ posets, both of which are shown to be in bijection with $d$-ascent sequences. Moreover, we also give a direct bijection between a class of matrices with a certain column restriction and Fishburn matrices. Our results give answers to several questions posed by Dukes and Sagan.
Equidistribution of set-valued statistics on standard Young tableaux and transversals
As a natural generalization of permutations, transversals of Young diagrams play an important role in the study of pattern avoiding permutations. Let $\mathcal{T}_λ(τ)$ and $\mathcal{ST}_λ(τ)$ denote the set of $τ$-avoiding transversals and $τ$-avoiding symmetric transversals of a Young diagram $λ$, respectively. In this paper, we are mainly concerned with the distribution of the peak set and the valley set on standard Young tableaux and pattern avoiding transversals. In particular, by introducing Knuth transformations on standard Young tableaux, we prove that the peak set and the valley set are equidistributed on the standard Young tableaux of shape $λ/μ$ for any skew diagram $λ/μ$. The equidistribution enables us to show that the peak set is equidistributed over $\mathcal{T}_λ(12\cdots kτ)$ (resp. $\mathcal{ST}_λ(12\cdots k τ)$) and $\mathcal{T}_λ(k\cdots 21τ) $ (resp. $\mathcal{ST}_λ(k\cdots 21τ)$) for any Young diagram $λ$ and any permutation $τ$ of $\{k+1, k+2, \ldots, k+m\}$ with $k,m\geq 1$. Our results are refinements of the result of Backelin-West-Xin which states that $|\mathcal{T}_λ(12\cdots kτ)|=|\mathcal{T}_λ(k\cdots 21 τ)|$ and the result of Bousquet-Mélou and Steingrímsson which states that $|\mathcal{ST}_λ(12\cdots k τ)|=|\mathcal{ST}_λ(k\cdots 21 τ)|$.

Let $\mathcal{S}_n(π)$ (resp. $\mathcal{I}_n(π)$ and $\mathcal{AI}_n(π)$) denote the set of permutations (resp. involutions and alternating involutions) of length $n$ which avoid the permutation pattern $π$. For $k,m\geq 1$, Backelin-West-Xin proved that $|\mathcal{S}_n(12\cdots kτ)|= |\mathcal{S}_n(k\cdots 21τ)|$ by establishing a bijection between these two sets, where $τ= τ_1τ_2\cdots τ_m$ is an arbitrary permutation of $k+1,k+2,\ldots,k+m$. The result has been extended to involutions by Bousquet-Mélou and Steingrímsson and to alternating permutations by the first author. In this paper, we shall establish a peak set preserving bijection between $\mathcal{I}_n(123τ)$ and $\mathcal{I}_n(321τ)$ via transversals, matchings, oscillating tableaux and pairs of noncrossing Dyck paths as intermediate structures. Our result is a refinement of the result of Bousquet-Mélou and Steingrímsson for the case when $k=3$. As an application, we show bijectively that $|\mathcal{AI}_n(123τ)| = |\mathcal{AI}_n(321τ)|$, confirming a recent conjecture of Barnabei-Bonetti-Castronuovo-Silimbani. Furthmore, some conjectured equalities posed by Barnabei-Bonetti-Castronuovo-Silimbani concerning pattern avoiding alternating involutions are also proved.

As shown by Bousquet-Mélou--Claesson--Dukes--Kitaev (2010), ascent sequences can be used to encode $({\bf2+2})$-free posets. It is known that ascent sequences are enumerated by the Fishburn numbers, which appear as the coefficients of the formal power series $$\sum_{m=1}^{\infty}\prod_{i=1}^m (1-(1-t)^i).$$ In this paper, we present a novel way to recursively decompose ascent sequences, which leads to: (i) a calculation of the Euler--Stirling distribution on ascent sequences, including the numbers of ascents ($\asc$), repeated entries $(\rep)$, zeros ($\zero$) and maximal entries ($\max$). In particular, this confirms and extends Dukes and Parviainen's conjecture on the equidistribution of $\zero$ and $\max$. (ii) a far-reaching generalization of the generating function formula for $(\asc,\zero)$ due to Jelínek. This is accomplished via a bijective proof of the quadruple equidistribution of $(\asc,\rep,\zero,\max)$ and $(\rep,\asc,\rmin,\zero)$, where $\rmin$ denotes the right-to-left minima statistic of ascent sequences. (iii) an extension of a conjecture posed by Levande, which asserts that the pair $(\asc,\zero)$ on ascent sequences has the same distribution as the pair $(\rep,\max)$ on $({\bf2-1})$-avoiding inversion sequences. This is achieved via a decomposition of $({\bf2-1})$-avoiding inversion sequences parallel to that of ascent sequences.
This work is motivated by a double Eulerian equidistribution of Foata (1977) and a tempting bi-symmetry conjecture, which asserts that the quadruples $(\asc,\rep,\zero,\max)$ and $(\rep,\asc,\max,\zero)$ are equidistributed on ascent sequences.

Recently, Jelínek conjectured that there exists a bijection between certain restricted permutations and Fishburn matrices such that the bijection verifies the equidistribution of several statistics. The main objective of this paper is to establish such a bijection.

Tree-like tableaux are certain fillings of Ferrers diagrams originally introduced by Aval et al., which are in simple bijections with permutation tableaux coming from Postnikov's study of totally nonnegative Grassmanian and alternative tableaux introduced by Viennot. In this paper, we confirm two conjectures of Gao et al. on the refined enumeration of non-occupied corners in tree-like tableaux and symmetric tree-like tableaux via intermediate structures of alternative tableaux, linked partitions, type $B$ alternative tableaux and type $B$ linked partitions.
On $(2k+1, 2k+3)$-core partitions with distinct parts
In this paper, we are mainly concerned with the enumeration of $(2k+1, 2k+3)$-core partitions with distinct parts. We derive the number and the largest size of such partitions, confirming two conjectures posed by Straub.

Permutation tableaux were introduced by Steingrímsson and Williams. Corteel and Kim defined the sign of a permutation tableau in terms of the number of unrestricted columns. The sign-imbalance of permutation tableaux of length $n$ is the sum of signs over permutation tableaux of length $n$. They have btained a formula for the sign-imbalance of permutation tableaux of length $n$ by using generating functions and asked for a combinatorial proof. Moreover, they raised the question of finding a sign-imbalance formula for type $B$ permutation tableaux introduced by Lam and Williams. We define a statistic $\nwnm$ over permutations and show that the number of unrestricted columns over permutation tableaux of length $n$ is equally distributed with $\nwnm$ over permutations of length $n$. This leads to a combinatorial interpretation of the formula of Corteel and Kim. For type $B$ permutation tableaux, we define the sign of a type $B$ permutation tableau in term of the number of certain rows and columns. On the other hand, we construct a bijection between the type $B$ permutation tableaux of length $n$ and symmetric permutations of length $2n$ and we show that the statistic $\nwnm$ over symmetric permutations of length $2n$ is equally distributed with the number of certain rows and columns over type $B$ permutation tableaux of length $n$. Based on this correspondence and an involution on symmetric permutation of length $2n$, we obtain a sign-imbalance formula for type $B$ permutation tableaux.
On the Enumeration of $(s,s+1,s+2)$-Core Partitions
Anderson established a connection between core partitions and order ideals of certain posets by mapping a partition to its $β$-set. In this paper, we give a characterization of the poset $P_{(s,s+1,s+2)}$ whose order ideals correspond to $(s,s+1,s+2)$-core partitions. Using this characterization, we obtain the number of $(s,s+1,s+2)$-core partitions, the maximum size and the average size of an $(s,s+1,s+2)$-core partition, confirming three conjectures posed by Amdeberhan.

An ordered partition of $[n]=\{1, 2, \ldots, n\}$ is a partition whose blocks are endowed with a linear order. Let $\mathcal{OP}_{n,k}$ be set of ordered partitions of $[n]$ with $k$ blocks and $\mathcal{OP}_{n,k}(σ)$ be set of ordered partitions in $\mathcal{OP}_{n,k}$ that avoid a pattern $σ$. Recently, Godbole, Goyt, Herdan and Pudwell obtained formulas for the number of ordered partitions of $[n]$ with 3 blocks and the number of ordered partitions of $[n]$ with $n-1$ blocks avoiding a permutation pattern of length 3. They showed that $|\mathcal{OP}_{n,k}(σ)|=|\mathcal{OP}_{n,k}(123)|$ for any permutation $σ$ of length 3, and raised the question concerning the enumeration of $\mathcal{OP}_{n,k}(123)$. They also conjectured that the number of ordered partitions of $[2n]$ with blocks of size 2 avoiding a permutation pattern of length 3 satisfied a second order linear recurrence relation. In answer to the question of Godbole, et al., we obtain the generating function for $|\mathcal{OP}_{n,k}(123)|$ and we prove the conjecture on the recurrence relation.

An alternating permutation of length $n$ is a permutation $π=π_1 π_2 ... π_n$ such that $π_1 < π_2 > π_3 < π_4 > ...$. Let $A_n$ denote set of alternating permutations of ${1,2,..., n}$, and let $A_n(σ)$ be set of alternating permutations in $A_n$ that avoid a pattern $σ$. Recently, Lewis used generating trees to enumerate $A_{2n}(1234)$, $A_{2n}(2143)$ and $A_{2n+1}(2143)$, and he posed several conjectures on the Wilf-equivalence of alternating permutations avoiding certain patterns. Some of these conjectures have been proved by Bóna, Xu and Yan. In this paper, we prove the two relations $|A_{2n+1}(1243)|=|A_{2n+1}(2143)|$ and $|A_{2n}(4312)|=|A_{2n}(1234)|$ as conjectured by Lewis.
