Summation Identities Involving Padovan and Perrin Numbers
Unlike in the case of Fibonacci and Lucas numbers, there is a paucity of literature dealing with summation identities involving the Padovan and Perrin numbers. In this paper, we derive various summation identities for these numbers, including binomial and double binomial identities. Our results derive from the rich algebraic properties exhibited by the zeros of the characteristic polynomial of the Padovan/Perrin sequence.
The Geometry of some Fibonacci Identities in the Hosoya Triangle
The \emph{Hosoya triangle} is a triangular array where every entry is a product of two Fibonacci numbers. We use the geometry of this triangle to find new identities related to Fibonacci numbers. We give geometric interpretation for some well-known identities of Fibonacci numbers. For instance, the Cassini identity and the Catalan identity. We also extend some identities that hold in the Pascal triangle to the Hosoya triangle. For instance, the hockey stick extends from binomials to products of Fibonacci numbers and the rhombus property extends a binomial identity from the Pascal triangle to an identity of products of Fibonacci numbers in the Hosoya triangle.

In this paper, first we introduce a quantity called a partition function for a quiver mutation sequence. The partition function is a generating function whose weight is a $q$-binomial associated with each mutation. Then, we show that the partition function can be expressed as a ratio of products of quantum dilogarithms. This provides a systematic way of constructing various $q$-binomial multisum identities.
All binomial identities are orderable

The main result of this paper is to show that all binomial identities are orderable. This is a natural statement in the combinatorial theory of finite sets, which can also be applied in distributed computing to derive new strong bounds on the round complexity of the weak symmetry breaking task.
Furthermore, we introduce the notion of a fundamental binomial identity and find an infinite family of values, other than the prime powers, for which no fundamental binomial identity can exist.

We extend the digital binomial identity as given by Nguyen el al. to an identity in an arbitrary base $b$, by introducing the $b-$ary binomial coefficients. We then study the properties of these coefficients such as orthogonality, a link to Lucas' theorem and the corresponding $b-$ary Pascal triangles.
Narayana polynomials and some generalizations
In this note, by counting some colored plane trees we obtain several binomial identities. These identities can be viewed as specific evaluations of certain generalizations of the Narayana polynomials. As consequences, it provides combinatorial proofs for a bijective problem in Stanley's collection "Bijective Proof Problems", a new formula for the Narayana polynomials as well as a new expression for the Harer-Zagier formula enumerating unicellular maps, in a unified way. Furthermore, we identify a class of plane trees, whose enumeration is closely connected to the Schröder numbers. Many other binomial identities are presented as well.

Using a cube tiling of $\mathbb{R}^n$ constructed by Lagarias and Shor a tiling proof of three well-known binomial identities related to the Lucas cube is given.
Polynomial Triangles Revisited
A polynomial triangle is an array whose inputs are the coefficients in integral powers of a polynomial. Although polynomial coefficients have appeared in several works, there is no systematic treatise on this topic. In this paper we plan to fill this gap. We describe some aspects of these arrays, which generalize similar properties of the binomial coefficients. Some combinatorial models enumerated by polynomial coefficients, including lattice paths model, spin chain model and scores in a drawing game, are introduced. Several known binomial identities are then extended. In addition, we calculate recursively generating functions of column sequences. Interesting corollaries follow from these recurrence relations such as new formulae for the Fibonacci numbers and Hermite polynomials in terms of trinomial coefficients. Finally, properties of the entropy density function that characterizes polynomial coefficients in the thermodynamical limit are studied in details.

It is shown that the curious identity of Simons follows immediately from Euler's series transformation formula and also from an identity due to Ljunggren. The relation of Simons' identity to Legendre's polynomials is also discussed. At the end we use the generalized Euler series transformation to obtain two recent binomial identities of Munarini.

The integral representation of the Hadamard product of two functions is used to prove several Euler-type series transformation formulas. As applications we obtain three binomial identities involving harmonic numbers and an identity for the Laguerre polynomials. We also evaluate in a closed form certain power series with harmonic numbers
The Planar Rook Algebra and Pascal's Triangle

We study the combinatorial representation theory of the ``planar rook algebra" $P_n$. This algebra has a basis consisting of planar rook diagrams and multiplication given by diagram concatenation. For each integer $0 \le k \le n$, we construct natural representations $V^n_k$ which form a complete set of non-isomorphic, irreducible $P_n$-representations. We explicitly decompose the regular representation of $P_n$ into a direct sum of irreducible modules. We compute the Bratteli diagram for the tower of algebras $P_0 \subseteq P_1 \subseteq P_2 \subseteq ...$ and show that this Bratteli diagram is Pascal's triangle. In fact, we show that many of the binomial identities, both additive and multiplicative, have interpretations in terms of the representation theory of the planar rook algebra.
Counting Defective Parking Functions

Suppose that $n$ drivers each choose a preferred parking space in a linear car park with $m$ spaces. Each driver goes to the chosen space and parks there if it is free, and otherwise takes the first available space with larger number (if any). If all drivers park successfully, the sequence of choices is called a parking function. In general, if $k$ drivers fail to park, we have a \emph{defective parking function} of \emph{defect} $k$. Let $\cp(n,m,k)$ be the number of such functions.
In this paper, we establish a recurrence relation for the numbers $\cp(n,m,k)$, and express this as an equation for a three-variable generating function. We solve this equation using the kernel method, and extract the coefficients explicitly: it turns out that the cumulative totals are partial sums in Abel's binomial identity. Finally, we compute the asymptotics of $\cp(n,m,k)$. In particular, for the case $m=n$, if choices are made independently at random, the limiting distribution of the defect (the number of drivers who fail to park), scaled by the square root of $n$, is the Rayleigh distribution. On the other hand, in case $m=ω(n)$, the probability that all spaces are occupied tends asymptotically to one.
An Enumerative Function
We define an enumerative function F(n,k,P,m) which is a generalization of binomial coefficients. Special cases of this function are also power function, factorials, rising factorials and falling factorials.
The first section of the paper is an introduction.
In the second section we derive an explicit formula for F. From the expression for the power function we obtain a number theory result.
Then we derive a formula which shows that the case of arbitrary m may be reduced to the case m=0. This formula extends Vandermonde convolution.
In the second section we describe F by the series of recurrence relations with respect to each of arguments k, n, and P. As a special case of the first recurrence relation we state a binomial identity. As a consequence of the second recurrence relation we obtain relation for coefficients of Chebyshev polynomial of both kind. This means that these polynomials might be defined in pure combinatorial way.
Binomial identities related to Calabi-Yau differential equations
When searching for Calabi.Yau differential equations, often different formulas for the coefficients give the same differential equation. The coefficients are usually sums (simple, double or triple) of products of binomial coefficients. This results in numerous binomial identities.
Some identities and formulas involving generalized Catalan numbers
A generalization of the Catalan numbers is considered. New results include binomial identities, recursive relations and a close formula for the multivariate generating function. A simple expression for the Catalan determinant is derived.

MacMahon's definition of self-inverse composition is extended to $n$-colour self-inverse composition. This introduces four new sequences which satisfy the same recurrence relation with different initial conditions like the famous Fibonacci and Lucas sequences. For these new sequences explicit formulas, recurrence relations, generating functions and a summation formula are obtained. Two new binomial identities with combinatorial meaning are also given.
