Anti-Ramsey Number for Suspension of Edge-Critical Graphs
An edge-colored graph is called a rainbow graph if all its edges have distinct colors. The \textit{anti-Ramsey number}, denoted by $\ar(n,F),$ for a fixed graph $F$ and a positive integer $n$, is the maximum number of colors used in an edge-coloring of the complete graph $K_n$ that contains no rainbow copy of $F$. Meanwhile, the \textit{Turán number}, denoted by $\ex(n,F),$ for graph $F$ and $n$, is the maximum number of edges in an $n$-vertex graph that does not contain $F$ as a subgraph. For a vertex $v$ and a multiset $\mathcal{H}$ of graphs, the \textit{suspension} $\mathcal{H} + v$ of $\mathcal{H}$ is the graph obtained by connecting the vertex $v$ to all vertices of $H$ for each $H \in \mathcal{H}$. Let integers $k\ge 1$ and $r\ge 2$ be fixed, and suppose that $\mathcal{H}_{k+1}=\{H_1, H_2, \ldots, H_{k+1}\}+v$ satisfying $H_1, H_2, \ldots, H_{k+1}$ are pairwise vertex-disjoint edge-critical graphs, and $χ(H_i)=r$ for $i=1,2,\ldots, k+1$.In this paper, we determine $ \ar(n,\mathcal{H}_{k+1}) $ for $k\ge 1$, $r\ge 2$ and sufficiently large $n$. This result unifies and generalizes a result of Liu et al. (arXiv:2411.08475) concerning the friendship graph, and a result of Lu et al. (arXiv:2507.13165) on the intersecting cliques.

A Chvátal--Erdős type condition for supereulerian digraphs with $α_{2}=4$
A digraph is \textbf{supereulerian} if it contains a spanning closed trail. Let $α_2(D)$ denote the maximum cardinality of a vertex set inducing no 2-cycle. In this paper, we characterize supereulerianity in a strong digraph $D$ with $α_2(D)=4$ by proving that a strong digraph $D$ with $α_2(D)=4$ and $λ(D)\ge 2$ is supereulerian if and only if $D$ does not belong to an exceptional family $\mathcal H$ of $2$-arc-strong digraphs with $α_2(D)=4$. Furthermore, every strong digraph satisfying $α_2(D)=4$ and $λ(D)\geq3$ is supereulerian.

Every graph is eventually Turán-good and Turán-stable
Let $T_r(n)$ denote the complete $r$-partite graph on $n$ vertices whose part sizes differ by at most one. A graph $H$ is called $K_{r+1}$-Turán-good if, for all sufficiently large $n$, the graph $T_r(n)$ contains the maximum number of copies of $H$ among all $n$-vertex $K_{r+1}$-free graphs. We say that $H$ is $K_{r+1}$-Turán-stable if, for every $\varepsilon>0$, there exist $δ>0$ and $n_0$ such that, whenever $n\ge n_0$ and an $n$-vertex $K_{r+1}$-free graph $G$ contains at least $\mathrm{ex}(n,H,K_{r+1})-δn^{v(H)}$ copies of $H$, the edit distance between $G$ and $T_r(n)$ is at most $\varepsilon n^2$, where $v(H)$ denotes the order of $H$. In this paper, we prove that every graph $H$ is both $K_{r+1}$-Turán-good and $K_{r+1}$-Turán-stable for $r\ge 4v(H)^3+11v(H)^2$. This strengthens results of Morrison, Nir, Norin, Rzążewski, and Wesolek~[J. Combin. Theory Ser. B, 2023] and Gerbner and Hama Karim~[J. Graph Theory, 2024], and gives a positive answer to a question of Morrison, Nir, Norin, Rzążewski, and Wesolek. We also prove that $\inj(H,G)\le \inj(H,T_r(n))$ for every $n$-vertex $K_{r+1}$-free graph $G$ and for $r\ge 40v(H)^3$, where $\inj(H,G)$ denotes the number of injective homomorphisms from $H$ to $G$. Finally, we give a negative answer to another question of Morrison, Nir, Norin, Rzążewski, and Wesolek.

Nonhamiltonian regular sublinear expanders
Letzter, Methuku and Sudakov proved that sufficiently regular sublinear expanders contain nearly spanning cycles and paths. Montgomery subsequently conjectured that every regular sublinear expander of sufficiently large degree is hamiltonian. Recently, Chen, Liu, Wei and Yang disproved this conjecture by constructing $d$-regular sublinear expanders of order $n$ with $d=(1/2+o(1))\log^2 n$ and small circumference. They further posed the problem of determining whether, for every fixed $\varepsilon>0$, there exists a constant $C=C(\varepsilon)$ such that every sufficiently large $n$-vertex $d$-regular $(\varepsilon,d)$-expander with $d\ge C\log^2 n$ is hamiltonian. We answer this problem negatively by constructing, for every sufficiently small fixed $\varepsilon>0$, infinitely many nonhamiltonian $d$-regular $(\varepsilon,d)$-expanders with degrees far above the $\log^2 n$ scale.

Helly and Radon theorems for convex intersections containing $k$-flats
We study versions of results in combinatorial geometry related to families of convex sets in $\mathbb{R}^d$ whose intersection contains a $k$-dimensional affine space. We prove generalizations of the colorful Radon theorem, the fractional Helly theorem, the colorful Helly theorem, and the selection-structure Helly theorem. When $k=0$, our arguments give new proofs of the corresponding versions for points.

Sharp Same-Color Cycle Covers in Two-Colored Complete Graphs
We extend the conjecture of Erdős and Gyárfás on monochromatic path covers to the setting of monochromatic cycle covers. We prove that, for all $n$, every 2-edge-coloring of the complete graph on $n$ vertices contains a collection of at most $\lceil\sqrt{n}\rceil$ monochromatic cycles, all of the same color, that together cover all vertices. The order of the bound is best possible, and the ceiling is necessary for infinitely many $n$.

The Erdos--Gallai bound for consecutive even cycle lengths
Erdős and Gallai in 1959 proved the seminal result that every $n$-vertex graph with no cycle of length at least $2t+2$ has at most $\frac{2t+1}{2}(n-1)$ edges. We prove the extension that, for every sufficiently large $t$, the same quantity is also the sharp extremal bound for graphs with no $t$ consecutive even cycle lengths, resolving a conjecture of Verstraëte. Thus, at the Erdős--Gallai threshold, forcing an entire interval of even cycle lengths costs no more than forcing its longest member. More precisely, every $n$-vertex graph $G$ with \[ e(G)\ge \frac{(2t+1)(n-1)}2 \] either contains $t$ consecutive even cycle lengths, or equality holds and $G$ is connected with every block isomorphic to $K_{2t+1}$. As consequences, for every sufficiently large even $k$ we determine the sharp edge thresholds forcing a cycle of length $0\pmod k$ or $2\pmod k$, answering questions of Bai, Grzesik, Li, and Prorok and of Gao, Li, Ma and Xie, respectively. The proof develops a stability-enhanced sublinear-expander method. Its main new ingredient is a dense-case decomposition that recovers the lengths lost in the expander extraction by combining a flexible dense core with rooted cycle families in the vertices outside the core.

The giant component of complex hypergraphs: automated generating function calculations
Complex hypergraphs (chygraphs) contain graphs, hypergraphs, multiplex and interacting networks as special cases, and the percolation threshold of all of them follows from one symbolic calculation: the spectrum of a tensor $A$ built from four matrices of first moments. That calculation stops at the threshold. Here I show that $A$ is the Jacobian, at its trivial fixed point, of a non-linear self-consistency map whose non-trivial fixed point is the giant component fraction, so threshold and order parameter are two orders of one object on one index set. Carrying the expansion one order further gives the critical amplitude $B$ in $S=BΛ+O(Λ^2)$ in closed form, and exposes a hierarchy: first moments fix the threshold, second moments the amplitude, and only the generating functions themselves the order parameter away from it. Dropping the assumption that a complex's participation in different layers is independent generalises the tensor again, replacing unconditional first moments by inclusion-biased second moments: distributions with identical marginals have different thresholds and different order parameters. Six constructions from the literature are then solved by substitution, among them AND- against OR-logic hypergraph percolation, which share a chygraph and differ in one generating function, and SIR epidemics with two levels of mixing, whose household reproduction number falls out of the tensor. A reported failure of mean-field theory on strongly clustered graphs is shown to be a failure of applying it to the wrong object: mapped onto the treelike backbone rather than the clustered graph, the same calculation reproduces the exact threshold, order parameter and critical exponents. Everything is implemented in one class, in which a chygraph is specified once by its generating functions and then returns all three, and validated against Monte Carlo simulation.

Large Cliques and Clique Spectral Radius in the Erdős--Sós Problem
For graphs $H$ and $F$, let $ex(n,H,F)$ be the maximum number of copies of $H$ in an $n$-vertex $F$-free graph. We study this problem when $H$ is a clique and $F=T_t$which is a fixed tree on $t$ vertices. The Erdős--Sós conjecture concerns the value of $ex(n,K_2, T_t)$. Gerbner and Palmer proposed a more general conjecture: if $n=α(t-1)+β$ and $0\leβ\le t-2$, then the graph $αK_{t-1}\sqcup K_β$ maximizes the number of $r$-cliques among all $n$-vertex $T_t$-free graphs for every $3\le r\le t-2$. We show that this conjecture holds for $T_t$ having at least $t-r$ leaves with a common parent, which contains the star case as a special case and recovers the sharp clique-counting result conjectured by Gan, Loh and Sudakov and proved by Chase and Chao and Dong. We also study the clique-spectral analogue. Under the same leaf-bunch condition, every $T_t$-free graph $G$ satisfies $ρ_r(G)\le\binom{t-2}{r-1}$, with equality, for $n\ge t-1$, if and only if $K_{t-1}$ is a component of $G$. Furthermore, we prove the conjecture for $r=t-d$ whenever $d\ge2$ and $t\ge d^2-d+3$, while the case $d=1$ is determined exactly for every $t$. For $d\ge2$ and $t\ge d^2-d+3$, every $T_t$-free graph $G$ satisfies $ρ_{t-d}(G)\leρ_{t-d}(K_{t-1})$, with equality characterized by the presence of a $K_{t-1}$-component. Our method is designed for relatively large cliques. In the leaf-poor case, after deleting edges that lie in no $(t-d)$-clique, we study the intersection relation among $(t-d)$-cliques and show that its equivalence classes induce the nontrivial clique-supported components; furthermore, we show each non-trivial component has at most $t-1$\) vertices. In the complementary leaf-rich case, a leaf-bunch criterion reduces the clique-counting problem to the sharp bounded-maximum-degree clique theorem.

The neighbourhood convexity
In this paper, we investigate the neighbourhood convexity ($n$-convexity) on graphs, a new finite convexity space grounded in the common closed neighbourhood closure operator. Unlike standard path-based graph convexities, $n$-convexity shows a non-canonical behaviour, giving rise to compelling structural properties and being almost never hereditary. Focusing on the properties of graphs that form $n$-convex geometries, a parity distinction emerges: an $n$-convex geometry contains a star vertex if and only if the number of its vertices is odd. Every odd-order $n$-convex geometry can be uniquely constructed by attaching a star vertex to an even-order one. We introduce the concept of quasi-stars (vertices of degree $\vert{}V\vert{}-2$) and prove a reduction property that allows systematically reducing an $n$-convex geometry by removing a pair of vertices, one of which is a quasi-star. Finally, we explore the connections between $n$-convexity and $P(G)$, the neighbourhood preorder, demonstrating that $n$-convex sets are upsets of $P(G)$ and that, in star-free $n$-convex geometries, quasi-stars correspond precisely to the maximal elements of $P(G)$. We complete our study by classifying quasi-threshold and threshold $n$-convex geometries.

A quaternionic construction behind $841$-point kissing arrangement in ${\mathbb R}^{12}$
Recently, a new record kissing arrangement of $841$ points in $\mathbb R^{12}$ was obtained numerically by optimization (Takhanov-Assylbekov-Yun, 2026). The configuration was released as a coordinate file, without a mathematical description of its structure. The purpose of this paper is to provide such a description. The key observation is that the geometry becomes transparent once we regard $\mathbb R^{12}\cong \mathbb H^3$ as the Cartesian product of three copies of the quaternion algebra. We first introduce a new $840$-point kissing arrangement with a certain quaternionic structure. It consists of three mutually orthogonal regular $24$-cells, supported on the three quaternionic coordinate factors $\mathbb H\times\{0\}\times\{0\}$, $\{0\}\times\mathbb H\times\{0\}$, $\{0\}\times\{0\}\times\mathbb H$, together with two $384$-point families obtained by lifting affine sets of the form $$\{(u,v,w)\in (\mathbb F_2^2)^3\mid u+v+w=η\},$$ to quaternionic triples (whose components belong to the binary octahedral group $2O$) and then applying suitable component-wise rotations and weightings. A characteristic feature of this construction is a pronounced asymmetry among the three quaternionic factors. For the $816$ vectors obtained after removing the third $24$-cell, most of the squared norm is concentrated in the first two quaternionic coordinates, while the third coordinate carries systematically less mass. Thus, the third four-dimensional factor contains more available space than the first two. We then show that this $840$-point configuration provides a natural structural model for the numerical $841$-point record. Finally, we introduce a notion of the general quaternionic construction in dimensions divisible by $4$, and check that record kissing arrangements in ${\mathbb R}^{4k}$, $k\leq 5$, admit a quaternionic construction.

Connectivity keeping paths in digraphs
Mader conjectured that every $k$-strong digraph $D$ with minimum semidegree $δ^0(D)\ge 2k+m-1$ contains a dipath $P$ of order $m$ such that $D-V(P)$ remains $k$-strong. For $k=1$, he obtained the weaker bound $δ^0(D)\ge 2m$. We confirm the conjecture for $k=1$ by showing that the sharp bound $δ^0(D)\ge m+1$ suffices. As a consequence, we show that for every integer $m\ge2$, every strongly connected digraph $D$ with $δ^0(D)\ge\max\{2,m-1\}$ contains a dipath $P$ of order $m$ such that $D-A(P)$ is strongly connected.

An improved bound on the minimum size of Turán $(r+1,r)$-systems
For positive integers $n\ge s>r$, let $T(n,s,r)$ denote the minimum number of edges in an $r$-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices such that every $s$-set of vertices contains at least one edge. A simple averaging argument shows that the ratio $T(n,s,r)/\binom nr$ is non-decreasing in $n$ and we denote its limit as $n\to\infty$ by $t(s,r)$. The case $s=r+1$ has a rich history, with the previously best known asymptotic bounds for $r\to\infty$ being $1\le r\cdot t(r+1,r)\le 4.91...$ . In this paper, we present a simple probabilistic construction which shows that $(r+2)\cdot t(r+1,r)\le 4$ for every $r\ge1$. We also derandomise it and discuss applications to covering codes.

Spectral extrema of 1-planar graphs with no short cycles or small cliques
The spectral Turán type problem, initiated by Nikiforov in 2007, aims to determine the graphs among $n$-vertex $H$-free graphs having maximum spectral radius. In this paper, we study this problem for $1$-planar graphs, i.e., graphs that admit a drawing in the plane such that each edge is crossed at most once. Recently, Xu and Chang proved that the graphs among all $n$-vertex $K_5$-free $1$-planar graphs having maximum spectral radius lie within a small family of candidates. First, this paper explicitly identifies the unique spectral extremal graph among the $n$-vertex $K_5$-free $1$-planar graphs. Second, it establishes a structural reduction theorem: For any forbidden subgraph $F$ with $δ(F)\ge2$ that is contained in $K_2\vee P_{n-2}^{2+}$ but not in $K_2\vee I_{n-2}$, every spectral extremal $F$-free $1$-planar graph contains a spanning complete bipartite graph $K_{2,n-2}$, where $P^{2+}_{n-2}$ is obtained from a path $u_1u_2\dots u_{n-2}$ by adding edge $u_1u_{n-2}$ and all edges $u_iu_{i+2}$ for $1\le i\le n-4$, and $I_{n-2}$ denotes the empty graph on $n-2$ vertices. As applications, the graph among all $n$-vertex $C_5$-free (resp. $2C_5$-free) $1$-planar graphs having maximum spectral radius is determined. These results extend spectral Turán type problems for $1$-planar graphs from cliques to cycles and their disjoint union.

A median degree from crossing graphs of median graphs
The crossing graph $\mathrm{Cross}(M)$ of a median graph $M$ is defined as the graph whose vertices are the $Θ$-classes of $M$ and whose edges connect two $Θ$-classes whenever they cross. It is known that every graph $X$ can be realised as the crossing graph of some median graph. In this article, we initiate the study of the space $\mathrm{Cross}^{-1}(X)$ of all the median graphs with crossing graph $X$. First, we prove that two finite median graphs have isomorphic crossing graphs if and only if one can be obtained from the other by a sequence of elementary transformations we call slidings. Then, motivated by the fact that $\mathrm{Cross}^{-1}(X)$ always contains a single median graph of maximal degree, namely the simplex-graph of $X$, we introduce the median degree of $X$ as the smallest possible degree of a median graph in $\mathrm{Cross}^{-1}(X)$. We compute the median degree for some families of graphs and characterise the graphs with maximal median degree.

The Last Isolated Vertex in Random-Order Uncovering of Cycles and Their Powers: Exact Enumeration and Weibull Limits
Let the vertices of a graph be revealed one at a time in a uniformly random order, and let the last-isolation time be the last time at which the induced graph on the revealed vertices contains an isolated vertex. For the cycle C_n, write K_n for the number of vertices still unrevealed at this time. We obtain an exact finite-n tail formula for K_n in terms of Stirling numbers of the second kind, together with a compact bivariate generating function. The enumeration comes from reversing the process. An isolated revealed vertex then corresponds to the cyclic pattern 101, but the tail event requires this pattern to be absent from every earlier prefix, not merely from the final set. This prefix condition forces the final one-blocks to be separated by zero-gaps of length at least two and forces the reveal order inside each one-block to be peakless. Since a block of size m has 2^{m-1} peakless orders, summing over block sizes produces the Stirling numbers. We also prove K_n/sqrt(n) -> R, with P(R>x)=e^{-x^2}, and, for every fixed d>=1, K_{n,d}/n^{1-1/(2d)} -> W_d, with P(W_d>x)=e^{-x^{2d}}. Uniform stretched-exponential tail bounds imply convergence of all fixed positive moments. Thus the ordinary cycle has a Rayleigh limit, while its fixed powers give a Weibull family with shape parameter 2d.

Resilient forest universality in percolated dense graphs
Published in JCMCC, 2026 • Search Publication
Christoph, Müyesser and Wigderson recently asked whether an approximate form of the Erdős-Sós conjecture is robust under random edge deletions. We establish a density-sensitive transference theorem that converts global resilience for bounded-degree trees in sparse random graphs into resilient forest universality in arbitrary dense host graphs. More precisely, if $F$ is an $N$-vertex graph of edge density $λ$ bounded away from zero and $p\in[K/N,1]$, then, with probability $1-o(1)$ uniformly over the host and the percolation parameter, every subgraph obtained from $F_p$ by deleting at most an $α$-fraction of its edges contains every bounded-degree forest on at most $((1-α)λ-ξ)N$ vertices. Consequently, for every $c>0$, $L\ge1$, fixed $D$ and $α<c$, every graph $F$ on at most $Ld$ vertices with average degree at least $d$ has the property that, after percolation at any rate $p\in[K/d,1]$ and any subsequent deletion of at most an $α$-fraction of the surviving edges, the remaining graph is universal for all forests on at most $(1-c)d$ vertices and maximum degree at most $D$. This includes vertex-disjoint packings of any prescribed collection of bounded-degree trees of that total order. We further obtain forest-universality results for graphs whose connected components have vertex-cover number at most $Cd$, and for graphs that can be brought into this form by deleting sufficiently few edges on the $dn$-scale.
Counterexamples to the Albertson-Berman conjecture: minimum order, connectivity and an improved ratio bound
In 1979, Albertson and Berman conjectured that every planar graph $G$ contains an induced forest of order at least $|V(G)|/2$. This long-standing conjecture was recently disproved by several explicit counterexamples, which naturally led to several extremal and structural questions that we answer. We combine mathematical arguments and exhaustive computations to show that the minimum order of a counterexample is $29$. We also construct infinitely many $4$-connected $5$-edge-connected counterexamples (and show that the unique such counterexample of minimum order has order $41$), whereas previously all known counterexamples had vertex-connectivity at most $3$. Furthermore, we construct an infinite family of planar graphs on $n$ vertices whose maximum induced forests have order at most $\frac{25}{52}n$, thereby improving the previous best upper bound. This family also yields infinitely many counterexamples (for every integer $d \geq 7$) to a conjecture of Chappell and Pelsmajer concerning induced forests of maximum degree at most $d$.

The Gao-Zhuang conjecture for the Heisenberg group
Let $G$ be a finite nonabelian group. The small Davenport constant $\mathsf d(G)$ of $G$ is the largest integer $\ell$ such that there exists a product-one-free sequence over $G$ of length $\ell$, while the Gao constant $E(G)$ of $G$ is the least integer $\ell$ such that every sequence over $G$ of length at least $\ell$ contains a product-one subsequence of length exactly $|G|$. A long-standing conjecture of Zhuang and Gao \cite{ZG2005} asserts that $E(G)=\mathsf d(G)+|G|$ for every finite nonabelian group $G$. Let $p$ be an odd prime and let $H_{p^3}=\operatorname{UT}_3(\mathbb F_p)$ be the Heisenberg group of order $p^3$ and exponent $p$. Godara and Sarkar proved the Zhuang--Gao equality for the nonabelian group of order $27$ and exponent $3$, and asked whether the same equality holds for $H_{p^3}$ for every odd prime $p$. Recently, Volkmann proved that $\mathsf d(H_{p^3})=3p-3$. In this paper, we determine the Gao constant of $H_{p^3}$ and prove that $E(H_{p^3})=\mathsf d(H_{p^3})+|H_{p^3}|=p^3+3p-3$.

Maker-Breaker games on infinite graphs with precolored edges
Suppose we are given graphs $B$ and $G$. In the classical Maker-Breaker game $\text{MB}(B,G)$ two players, Maker and Breaker, alternately claim edges of $B$ and it is Maker's goal to claim a copy of $G$ in $B$, while it is Breaker's goal to prevent that. In this paper, $B$ is the countably infinite complete graph $K_{\aleph_0}$ and we are given finitely many infinite subgraphs $G_1, \dots, G_k \subseteq B$. In the color preserving game, it will be Maker's goal to claim a $K_{\aleph_0} \subseteq B$, which contains infinitely many edges of each $G_i$. We present sufficient winning conditions for both Maker and Breaker, if $k > 1$ and a full characterization of the game, if $k =1$. This partly answers a question of Bowler, Emde and Gut. In the (partially) pattern preserving game, it is Maker's goal to claim a copy $K$ of $K_{\aleph_0}$, such that $G_i \cap K$ is isomorphic to (a subgraph of) $G_i$ for all $i \in [k]$. In those games, we investigate some patterns for which Maker has a winning strategy.
