A polyhedron is a graph $G$ which is simple, planar and 3-connected. In this note, we classify the family of strongly involutive self-dual polyhedra. The latter is done by using a well-known result due to Tutte characterizing 3-connected graphs. We also show that this special class of polyhedra self-duality behaves topologically as the antipodal mapping. These self-dual polyhedra are related with several problems in convex and discrete geometry including the Vázsonyi problem.
Planarity and genus of sparse random bipartite graphs

The genus of the binomial random graph $G(n,p)$ is well understood for a wide range of $p=p(n)$. Recently, the study of the genus of the random bipartite graph $G(n_1,n_2,p)$, with partition classes of size $n_1$ and $n_2$, was initiated by Mohar and Ying, who showed that when $n_1$ and $n_2$ are comparable in size and $p=p(n_1,n_2)$ is significantly larger than $(n_1n_2)^{-\frac{1}{2}}$ the genus of the random bipartite graph has a similar behaviour to that of the binomial random graph.
In this paper we show that there is a threshold for planarity of the random bipartite graph at $p=(n_1n_2)^{-\frac{1}{2}}$ and investigate the genus close to this threshold, extending the results of Mohar and Ying. It turns out that there is qualitatively different behaviour in the case where $n_1$ and $n_2$ are comparable, when whp the genus is linear in the number of edges, than in the case where $n_1$ is asymptotically smaller than $n_2$, when whp the genus behaves like the genus of a sparse random graph $G(n_1,q)$ for an appropriately chosen $q=q(p,n_1,n_2)$.
Graphic Lattices and Matrix Lattices Of Topological Coding
Lattice-based Cryptography is considered to have the characteristics of classical computers and quantum attack resistance. We will design various graphic lattices and matrix lattices based on knowledge of graph theory and topological coding, since many problems of graph theory can be expressed or illustrated by (colored) star-graphic lattices. A new pair of the leaf-splitting operation and the leaf-coinciding operation will be introduced, and we combine graph colorings and graph labellings to design particular proper total colorings as tools to build up various graphic lattices, graph homomorphism lattice, graphic group lattices and Topcode-matrix lattices. Graphic group lattices and (directed) Topcode-matrix lattices enable us to build up connections between traditional lattices and graphic lattices. We present mathematical problems encountered in researching graphic lattices, some problems are: Tree topological authentication, Decompose graphs into Hanzi-graphs, Number String Decomposition Problem, $(p,s)$-gracefully total numbers.

Two lattice points are visible to one another if there exist no other lattice points on the line segment connecting them. In this paper we study convex lattice polygons that contain a lattice point such that all other lattice points in the polygon are visible from it. We completely classify such polygons, show that there are finitely many of lattice width greater than $2$, and computationally enumerate them. As an application of this classification, we prove new obstructions to graphs arising as skeleta of tropical plane curves.
New constructions of strongly regular Cayley graphs on abelian groups

Davis and Jedwab (1997) established a great construction theory unifying many previously known constructions of difference sets, relative difference sets and divisible difference sets. They introduced the concept of building blocks, which played an important role in the theory. On the other hand, Polhill (2010) gave a construction of Paley type partial difference sets (conference graphs) based on a special system of building blocks, called a covering extended building set, and proved that there exists a Paley type partial difference set in an abelian group of order $9^iv^4$ for any odd positive integer $v>1$ and any $i=0,1$. His result covers all orders of nonelementary abelian groups in which Paley type partial difference sets exist. In this paper, we give new constructions of strongly regular Cayley graphs on abelian groups by extending the theory of building blocks. The constructions are large generalizations of Polhill's construction. In particular, we show that for a positive integer $m$ and elementary abelian groups $G_i$, $i=1,2,\ldots,s$, of order $q_i^4$ such that $2m\,|\,q_i+1$, there exists a decomposition of the complete graph on the abelian group $G=G_1\times G_2\times \cdots\times G_s$ by strongly regular Cayley graphs with negative Latin square type parameters $(u^2,c(u+1),- u+c^2+3 c,c^2+ c)$, where $u=q_1^2q_2^2\cdots q_s^2$ and $c=(u-1)/m$. Such strongly regular decompositions were previously known only when $m=2$ or $G$ is a $p$-group. Moreover, we find one more new infinite family of decompositions of the complete graphs by Latin square type strongly regular Cayley graphs. Thus, we obtain many strongly regular graphs with new parameters.

In this paper, we characterize a mixed graph $F$ which contains $k$ edge and arc disjoint spanning mixed arborescences $F_{1}, \ldots, F_{k}$, such that for each $v \in V(F)$, the cardinality of $\{i \in [k]: v \text{ is the root of } F_{i}\}$ lies in some prescribed interval. This generalizes both Nash-Williams and Tutte's theorem on spanning tree packing for undirected graphs and the previous characterization on digraphs which was given by Cai [in: Arc-disjoint arborescences of digraphs, J. Graph Theory 7(2) (1983), 235-240] and Frank [in: On disjoint trees and arborescences, Algebraic Methods in Graph Theory, Colloquia Mathematica Soc. J. In this paper, we give a criterion of the Gorenstein property of the Ehrhart ring of the stable set polytope of an h-perfect graph: the Ehrhart ring of the stable set polytope of an h-perfect graph $G$ is Gorenstein if and only if (1) sizes of maximal cliques are constant (say $n$) and (2) (a) $n=1$, (b) $n=2$ and there is no odd cycle without chord and length at least 7 or (c) $n\geq 3$ and there is no odd cycle without chord and length at least 5.

In this paper, we describe the relationship between the Perron root and eigenvectors of an irreducible subshift of finite type with the correlation between the forbidden words in the subshift. In particular, we derive an expression for the Perron eigenvectors of the associated adjacency matrix. As an application, we obtain the Perron eigenvectors for irreducible $(0,1)$ matrices which are adjacency matrices for directed graphs. Moreover, we derive an alternate definition of the Parry measure in ergodic theory on an irreducible subshift of finite type.

A subset of vertices in a graph $G$ is called a maximum dissociation set if it induces a subgraph with vertex degree at most 1 and the subset has maximum cardinality. The dissociation number of $G$, denoted by $ψ(G)$, is the cardinality of a maximum dissociation set. A subcubic tree is a tree of maximum degree at most 3. In this paper, we give the lower and upper bounds on the dissociation number in a subcubic tree of order $n$ and show that the number of maximum dissociation sets of a subcubic tree of order $n$ and dissociation number $ψ$ is at most $1.466^{4n-5ψ+2}$.
$k$-Critical Graphs in $P_5$-Free Graphs

Given two graphs $H_1$ and $H_2$, a graph $G$ is $(H_1,H_2)$-free if it contains no induced subgraph isomorphic to $H_1$ or $H_2$. Let $P_t$ be the path on $t$ vertices. A graph $G$ is $k$-vertex-critical if $G$ has chromatic number $k$ but every proper induced subgraph of $G$ has chromatic number less than $k$. The study of $k$-vertex-critical graphs for graph classes is an important topic in algorithmic graph theory because if the number of such graphs that are in a given hereditary graph class is finite, then there is a polynomial-time algorithm to decide if a graph in the class is $(k-1)$-colorable.
In this paper, we initiate a systematic study of the finiteness of $k$-vertex-critical graphs in subclasses of $P_5$-free graphs. Our main result is a complete classification of the finiteness of $k$-vertex-critical graphs in the class of $(P_5,H)$-free graphs for all graphs $H$ on 4 vertices. To obtain the complete dichotomy, we prove the finiteness for four new graphs $H$ using various techniques -- such as Ramsey-type arguments and the dual of Dilworth's Theorem -- that may be of independent interest.

The signless Laplacian Q and signless edge-Laplacian S of a given graph may or may not be invertible. The Moore-Penrose inverses of Q and S are studied. In particular, using the incidence matrix, we find combinatorial formulas of the Moore- Penrose inverses of Q and S for trees. Also we present combinatorial formulas of the inverses of Q and S for odd unicyclic graphs.
Degree 2 Transformation Semigroups as Continuous Maps on Graphs: Foundations and Structure

We develop the theory of transformation semigroups that have degree 2, that is, act by partial functions on a finite set such that the inverse image of points have at most two elements. We show that the graph of fibers of such an action gives a deep connection between semigroup theory and graph theory. It is known that the Krohn-Rhodes complexity of a degree 2 action is at most 2. We show that the monoid of continuous maps on a graph is the translational hull of an appropriate 0-simple semigroup. We show how group mapping semigroups can be considered as regular covers of their right letter mapping image and relate this to their graph of fibers.
On the difference between the eccentric connectivity index and eccentric distance sum of graphs

The eccentric connectivity index of a graph $G$ is $ξ^c(G) = \sum_{v \in V(G)}\varepsilon(v)°(v)$, and the eccentric distance sum is $ξ^d(G) = \sum_{v \in V(G)}\varepsilon(v)D(v)$, where $\varepsilon(v)$ is the eccentricity of $v$, and $D(v)$ the sum of distances between $v$ and the other vertices. A lower and an upper bound on $ξ^d(G) - ξ^c(G)$ is given for an arbitrary graph $G$. Regular graphs with diameter at most $2$ and joins of cocktail-party graphs with complete graphs form the graphs that attain the two equalities, respectively. Sharp lower and upper bounds on $ξ^d(T) - ξ^c(T)$ are given for arbitrary trees. Sharp lower and upper bounds on $ξ^d(G)+ξ^c(G)$ for arbitrary graphs $G$ are also given, and a sharp lower bound on $ξ^d(G)$ for graphs $G$ with a given radius is proved.

Generalizing the star graphs of Müller-Stach and Westrich, we describe a class of graphs whose associated graph hypersurface is equipped with a non-trivial torus action. For such graphs, we show that the Euler characteristic of the corresponding projective graph hypersurface complement is zero. In contrast, we also show that the Euler characteristic in question can take any integer value for a suitable graph. This disproves a conjecture of Aluffi in a strong sense.

We show that connected graphs admit sublinear longest path transversals. This improves an earlier result of Rautenbach and Sereni and is related to the fifty-year-old question of whether connected graphs admit longest path transversals of constant size. The same technique allows us to show that $2$-connected graphs admit sublinear longest cycle transversals.

Lattice theory has been believed to resist classical computers and quantum computers. Since there are connections between traditional lattices and graphic lattices, it is meaningful to research graphic lattices. We define the so-called ice-flower systems by our uncolored or colored leaf-splitting and leaf-coinciding operations. These ice-flower systems enable us to construct several star-graphic lattices. We use our star-graphic lattices to express some well-known results of graph theory and compute the number of elements of a particular star-graphic lattice. For more researching ice-flower systems and star-graphic lattices we propose Decomposition Number String Problem, finding strongly colored uniform ice-flower systems and connecting our star-graphic lattices with traditional lattices.

Halin conjectured 20 years ago that a graph has a normal spanning tree if and only if every minor of it has countable colouring number. We prove Halin's conjecture. This implies a forbidden minor characterisation for the property of having a normal spanning tree.
A new obstruction for normal spanning trees

In a paper from 2001 (Journal of the LMS), Diestel and Leader offered a proof that a connected graph has a normal spanning tree if and only if it does not contain a minor from two specific forbidden classes of graphs, all of cardinality $\aleph_1$. Unfortunately, their proof contains a gap, and their result is incorrect. In this paper, we construct a third type of obstruction: an $\aleph_1$-sized graph without a normal spanning tree that contains neither of the two types described by Diestel and Leader as a minor. Further, we show that any list of forbidden minors characterising the graphs with normal spanning trees must contain graphs of arbitrarily large cardinality.

The reliability polynomial of a graph gives the probability that a graph remains operational when all its edges could fail independently with a certain fixed probability. In general, the problem of finding uniformly most reliable graphs inside a family of graphs, that is, one graph whose reliability is at least as large as any other graph inside the family, is very difficult. In this paper, we study this problem in the family of graphs containing a hamiltonian cycle.
Star Edge-Coloring of Square Grids

A star edge-coloring of a graph $G$ is a proper edge-coloring without bichromatic paths or cycles of length four. The smallest integer $k$ such that $G$ admits a star edge-coloring with $k$ colors is the star chromatic index of $G$. In the seminal paper on the topic, Dvořák, Mohar, and Šámal asked if the star chromatic index of complete graphs is linear in the number of vertices and gave an almost linear upper bound. Their question remains open, and consequently, to better understand the behavior of the star chromatic index, this parameter has been studied for a number of other classes of graphs. In this paper, we consider star edge-colorings of square grids; namely, the Cartesian products of paths and cycles and the Cartesian products of two cycles. We improve previously established bounds and, as a main contribution, we prove that the star chromatic index of graphs in both classes is either $6$ or $7$ except for prisms. Additionally, we give a number of exact values for many considered graphs.
