In this review paper I present two geometric constructions of distinguished nature, one is over the field of complex numbers $\mathbb{C}$ and the other one is over the two elements field $\mathbb{F}_2$. Both constructions have been employed in the past fifteen years to describe two quantum paradoxes or two resources of quantum information: entanglement of pure multipartite systems on one side and contextuality on the other. Both geometric constructions are linked to representation of semi-simple Lie groups/algebras. To emphasize this aspect one explains on one hand how well-known results in representation theory allows one to see all the classification of entanglement classes of various tripartite quantum systems ($3$ qubits, $3$ fermions, $3$ bosonic qubits...) in a unified picture. On the other hand, one also shows how some weight diagrams of simple Lie groups are encapsulated in the geometry which deals with the commutation relations of the generalized $N$-Pauli group.

Dotsenko and Vallette discovered an extension to nonsymmetric operads of Buchberger's algorithm for Gröbner bases of polynomial ideals. In the free nonsymmetric operad with one ternary operation $({\ast}{\ast}{\ast})$, we compute a Gröbner basis for the ideal generated by partial associativity $((abc)de) + (a(bcd)e) + (ab(cde)$. In the category of $\mathbb{Z}$-graded vector spaces with Koszul signs, the (homological) degree of $({\ast}{\ast}{\ast})$ may be even or odd. We use the Gröbner bases to calculate the dimension formulas for these operads.
Honeycomb Tessellations and Graded Permutohedral Blades
This paper investigates enumerative aspects of permutohedral blades, which provide a generalization of the notion of the tropical hyperplane arrangement. Blade provide the combinatorial underpinning of generalized biadjoint scalar scattering amplitudes in work of Cachazo, Early, Guevara and Mizera (CEGM). We construct a graded basis for a vector space of indicator functions of blades, with the grading determined by the dimension of the support of the function. We prove a Minkowski sum decomposition law into lines and tripods and we explore connections to the cohomology ring of certain moduli spaces and a non-planar analog of the square move for plabic graphs.
We give a closed formula for the graded dimension of the basis. It is shown in an Appendix by Donghyun Kim that the coefficients appearing in the numerator of the generating function for the graded dimension are symmetric, and that they sum to $\frac{(2j)!}{j!}$. Unimodality is still open.

For each $Δ>0$, we prove that there exists some $C=C(Δ)$ for which the binomial random graph $G(n,C\log n/n)$ almost surely contains a copy of every tree with $n$ vertices and maximum degree at most $Δ$. In doing so, we confirm a conjecture by Kahn.
Complete minors and stability numbers
Hadwiger's conjecture implies that $n\leαh$ for all graphs of order $n$, stability number $α$, and Hadwiger number $h$. Combining ideas of Kawarabayashi et al. and Wood, we prove that $n\le (α-1)(2h-5)+5$ for such graphs if $α\ge 3$ and $h\ge 5$.

For a graph G, the graph R(G) of a graph G is the graph obtained by adding a new vertex for each edge of G and joining each new vertex to both end vertices of the correspond- ing edge. Let I(G) be the set of newly added vertices. In this paper, we derive closed-form formulas for resistance distance and Kirchhoff index of generalized R-vertex and R-edge corona whenever G and Hi are arbitrary graph. These results generalize the existing results in [9].
(Di)graph decompositions and magic type labelings: a dual relation
A graph $G$ is called edge-magic if there is a bijective function $f$ from the set of vertices and edges to the set $\{1,2,\ldots,|V(G)|+|E(G)|\}$ such that the sum $f(x)+f(xy)+f(y)$ for any $xy$ in $E(G)$ is constant. Such a function is called an edge-magic labelling of G and the constant is called the valence of $f$. An edge-magic labelling with the extra property that $f(V(G))= \{1,2,\ldots,|V(G)|\}$ is called super edge-magic. In this paper, we establish a relationship between the valences of (super) edge-magic labelings of certain types of bipartite graphs and the existence of a particular type of decompositions of such graphs.
1-Safe Petri nets and special cube complexes: equivalence and applications

Nielsen, Plotkin, and Winskel (1981) proved that every 1-safe Petri net $N$ unfolds into an event structure $\mathcal{E}_N$. By a result of Thiagarajan (1996 and 2002), these unfoldings are exactly the trace regular event structures. Thiagarajan (1996 and 2002) conjectured that regular event structures correspond exactly to trace regular event structures. In a recent paper (Chalopin and Chepoi, 2017, 2018), we disproved this conjecture, based on the striking bijection between domains of event structures, median graphs, and CAT(0) cube complexes. On the other hand, in Chalopin and Chepoi (2018) we proved that Thiagarajan's conjecture is true for regular event structures whose domains are principal filters of universal covers of (virtually) finite special cube complexes.
In the current paper, we prove the converse: to any finite 1-safe Petri net $N$ one can associate a finite special cube complex ${X}_N$ such that the domain of the event structure $\mathcal{E}_N$ (obtained as the unfolding of $N$) is a principal filter of the universal cover $\widetilde{X}_N$ of $X_N$. This establishes a bijection between 1-safe Petri nets and finite special cube complexes and provides a combinatorial characterization of trace regular event structures.
Using this bijection and techniques from graph theory and geometry (MSO theory of graphs, bounded treewidth, and bounded hyperbolicity) we disprove yet another conjecture by Thiagarajan (from the paper with S. Yang from 2014) that the monadic second order logic of a 1-safe Petri net is decidable if and only if its unfolding is grid-free.
Our counterexample is the trace regular event structure $\mathcal{\dot E}_Z$ which arises from a virtually special square complex $\dot Z$. The domain of $\mathcal{\dot E}_Z$ is grid-free (because it is hyperbolic), but the MSO theory of the event structure $\mathcal{\dot E}_Z$ is undecidable.
Singular Graphs on which the Dihedral Group Acts Vertex Transitively
Let $Γ$ be a simple connect graph on a finite vertex set $V$ and let $A$ be its adjacency matrix. Then $Γ$ is said to be \textit{singular} if and only if $0$ is an eigenvalue of $A.$ The \textit{nullity (singularity)} of $Γ,$ denoted by ${\rm null}(Γ),$ is the \textit{algebraic multiplicity} of the eigenvalue $0$ in the spectrum of $Γ.$ The general problem of characterising singular graphs is easy to state but it seems too difficult in this time. In this work, we investigate this problem for finite graphs on which the dihedral group $D_n$ acts vertex transitively as group of automorphisms. We determine the nullity of such graphs. We show that Cayley graphs over dihedral groups $D_{p^s} $ is non-singular if $|H \cap C_{p^s}|\neq |H \cap C_{p^s}b|$ and $|H|<p$ where $p$ is a prime number and $s \in \mathbb{N}.$
On the Domination Number of Permutation Graphs and an Application to Strong Fixed Points

A permutation graph $G_π$ is a simple graph with vertices corresponding to the elements of $π$ and an edge between $i$ and $j$ when $i$ and $j$ are inverted in $π$. A set of vertices $D$ is said to dominate a graph $G$ when every vertex in $G$ is either an element of $D$, or adjacent to an element of $D$. The domination number $γ(G)$ is defined as the cardinality of a minimum dominating set of $G$. A strong fixed point of a permutation $π$ of order $n$ is an element $k$ such that $π^{-1}(j)<π^{-1}(k)$ for all $j<k$, and $π^{-1}(i)>π^{-1}(k)$ for all $i>k$. In this article, we count the number of connected permutation graphs on $n$ vertices with domination number $1$ and domination number $\frac{n}{2}$. We further show that for a natural number $k\leq \frac{n}{2}$, there exists a connected permutation graph on $n$ vertices with domination number $k$. We find a closed expression for the number of permutation graphs dominated by a set with two elements, and we find a closed expression for the number of permutation graphs efficiently dominated by any set of vertices. We conclude by providing an application of these results to strong fixed points, proving some conjectures posed on the OEIS.
Maximum reciprocal degree resistance distance index of unicyclic graphs

The reciprocal degree resistance distance index of a connected graph $G$ is defined as $RDR(G)=\sum\limits_{\{u,v\}\subseteq V(G)}\frac {d_G(u)+d_G(v)}{r_G(u,v)}$, where $r_G(u,v)$ is the resistance distance between vertices $u$ and $v$ in $G$. Let $\mathscr {U}_n$ denote the set of unicyclic graphs with $n$ vertices. We study the graph with maximum reciprocal degree resistance distance index among all graphs in $\mathscr {U}_n$, and characterize the corresponding extremal graph.

Let $s_ν\circ s_μ$ denote the plethystic product of the Schur functions $s_ν$ and $s_μ$. In this article we define an explicit polynomial representation corresponding to $s_ν\circ s_μ$ with basis indexed by certain `plethystic' semistandard tableaux. Using these representations we prove generalizations of four results on plethysms due to Bruns--Conca--Varbaro, Brion, Ikenmeyer and the authors. In particular, we give a sufficient condition for the multiplicity $\langle s_ν\circ s_μ, s_λ\rangle$ to be stable under insertion of new parts into $μ$ and $λ$. We also characterize all maximal and minimal partitions $λ$ in the dominance order such that $s_λ$ appears in $s_ν\circ s_μ$ and determine the corresponding multiplicities using plethystic semistandard tableaux.

For a prime power $q$ and a positive integer $n$, we say a subspace $U$ of ${\mathbb{F}_q^n}$ is {\em cyclically covering} if the union of the cyclic shifts of $U$ is equal to $\mathbb{F}_q^n$. We investigate the problem of determining the minimum possible dimension of a cyclically covering subspace of $\mathbb{F}_q^n$. (This is a natural generalisation of a problem posed in 1991 by the first author.) We prove several upper and lower bounds, and for each fixed $q$, we answer the question completely for infinitely many values of $n$ (which take the form of certain geometric series). Our results imply lower bounds for a well-known conjecture of Isbell, and a generalisation theoreof, supplementing lower bounds due to Spiga. We also consider the analogous problem for general representations of groups. We use arguments from combinatorics, representation theory and finite field theory.

We prove that the cone over a Dirichlet arrangement is supersolvable if and only if its Orlik-Solomon algebra is Koszul. This was previously shown for four other classes of arrangements. We exhibit an infinite family of cones over Dirichlet arrangements that are combinatorially distinct from these other four classes.

A formal inverse of a given automatic sequence (the sequence of coefficients of the composition inverse of its associated formal power series) is also automatic. The comparison of properties of the original sequence and its formal inverse is an interesting problem. Such an analysis has been done before for the Thue{Morse sequence. In this paper, we describe arithmetic properties of formal inverses of the generalized Thue-Morse sequences and formal inverses of two modifications of the Rudin{Shapiro sequence. In each case, we give the recurrence relations and the automaton, then we analyze the lengths of strings of consecutive identical letters as well as the frequencies of letters. We also compare the obtained results with the original sequences.
Bi-pruned Hurwitz numbers

Hurwitz numbers enumerate ramified coverings of the Riemann sphere with fixed ramification data. Certain kinds of ramification data are of particular interest, such as double Hurwitz numbers, which count covers with fixed arbitrary ramification over $0$ and $\infty$ and simple ramification over $b$ points, where $b$ is given by the Riemann-Hurwitz formula. In this work, we introduce the notion of bi-pruned double Hurwitz numbers. This is a new enumerative problem, which yields smaller numbers but completely determines double Hurwitz numbers. They count a relevant subset of covers and share many properties with double Hurwitz numbers, such as piecewise polynomial behaviour and an expression in the symmetric group. Thus, we may view them as a core of the double Hurwitz numbers problem. This work is built on and generalises previous work of Do--Norbury and the author.
Upper Bound for Palindromic and Factor Complexity of Rich Words

A finite word $w$ of length $n$ contains at most $n+1$ distinct palindromic factors. If the bound $n+1$ is attained, the word $w$ is called rich. An infinite word $w$ is called rich if every finite factor of $w$ is rich.
Let $w$ be a word (finite or infinite) over an alphabet with $q>1$ letters, let $F(w,n)$ be the set of factors of length $n$ of the word $w$, and let $F_p(w,n)\subseteq F(w,n)$ be the set of palindromic factors of length $n$ of the word $w$.
We present several upper bounds for $| F(w,n)|$ and $| F_p(w,n)|$, where $w$ is a rich word. In particular we show that \[| F(w,n)| \leq (q+1)8n^2(8q^{10}n)^{\log_2{2n}}+q\mbox{.}\]
In 2007, Bal{á}{\v z}i, Mas{á}kov{á}, and Pelantov{á} showed that \[| F_p(w,n)| +| F_p(w,n+1)| \leq | F(w,n+1)|-| F(w,n)|+2\mbox{,}\] where $w$ is an infinite word whose set of factors is closed under reversal. We generalize this inequality for finite words.
Binary Quadratic Forms in Difference Sets

We show that if $h(x,y)=ax^2+bxy+cy^2\in \mathbb{Z}[x,y]$ satisfies $Δ(h)=b^2-4ac\neq 0$, then any subset of $\{1,2,\dots,N\}$ lacking nonzero differences in the image of $h$ has size at most a constant depending on $h$ times $N\exp(-c\sqrt{\log N})$, where $c=c(h)>0$. We achieve this goal by adapting an $L^2$ density increment strategy previously used to establish analogous results for sums of one or more single-variable polynomials. Our exposition is thorough and self-contained, in order to serve as an accessible gateway for readers who are unfamiliar with previous implementations of these techniques.
Stable Cluster Variables
Richard Eager and Sebastian Franco introduced a change of basis transformation on the F-polynomials of Fomin and Zelevinsky, corresponding to rewriting them in the basis given by fractional brane charges rather than quiver gauge groups. This transformation seems to display a surprising stabilization property, apparently causing the first few terms of the polynomials at each step of the mutation sequence to coincide. Eager and Franco conjecture that this transformation will always cause the polynomials to converge to a formal power series as the number of mutations goes to infinity, at least for quivers possessing certain symmetries and along periodic mutation sequences respecting such symmetries. In this paper, we verify this convergence in the case of the Kronecker and Conifold quivers. We also investigate convergence in the $F_0$ quiver. We provide a combinatorial interpretation for the stable cluster variables in each appropriate case.
Exotic Springer fibers for orbits corresponding to one-row bipartitions

We study the geometry and topology of exotic Springer fibers for orbits corresponding to one-row bipartitions from an explicit, combinatorial point of view. This includes a detailed analysis of the structure of the irreducible components and their intersections as well as the construction of an explicit affine paving. Moreover, we compute the ring structure of cohomology by constructing a CW-complex homotopy equivalent to the exotic Springer fiber. This homotopy equivalent space admits an action of the type C Weyl group inducing Kato's original exotic Springer representation on cohomology. Our results are described in terms of the diagrammatics of the one-boundary Temperley-Lieb algebra (also known as the blob algebra). This provides a first step in generalizing the geometric versions of Khovanov's arc algebra to the exotic setting.
