An alternative way of defining finite graphs
Published in Prikl. Diskr. Mat., 2015, no. 3(29), 83-94 • View PublicationBIB
In this paper we introduce "graph linear notation" -- a complete graph invariant -- which is positioned as an alternative definition for the finite graphs. This invariant is constructed using an algorithm similar to the algorithm of finding canonical forms of graphs. Storing graph linear notation instead of a regular graph allows us to greatly simplify two major problems: the construction of illustrations for graphs with regards to possible graph symmetries, and the comparison of two graphs for isomorphism. We also demonstrate the transferability to the graph linear notations such classical graph theory concepts as colourings and graph paths.

Cherednik operators and Ruijsenaars-Schneider model at infinity
Published in International Mathematics Research Notices (2019) 2266-2294 • View PublicationBIB
Heckman introduced $N$ operators on the space of polynomials in $N$ variables, such that these operators form a covariant set relative to permutations of the operators and variables, and such that Jack symmetric polynomials are eigenfunctions of the power sums of these operators. We introduce the analogues of these $N$ operators for Macdonald symmetric polynomials, by using Cherednik operators. The latter operators pairwise commute, and Macdonald polynomials are eigenfunctions of their power sums. We compute the limits of our operators at $N\to\infty$. These limits yield the same Lax operator for Macdonald symmetric functions as constructed in our previous work.

Lax operator for Macdonald symmetric functions
Published in Letters in Mathematical Physics 105 (2015) 901-916 • View PublicationBIB
Using the Lax operator formalism, we construct a family of pairwise commuting operators such that the Macdonald symmetric functions of infinitely many variables and of two parameters $q,t$ are their eigenfunctions. We express our operators in terms of the Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions of the same variables and of the parameter $t$ corresponding to the partitions with one part only. Our expression is based on the notion of Baker-Akhiezer function.

Integrable Hierarchy of the Quantum Benjamin-Ono Equation
Published in SIGMA 9 (2013) 078 • View PublicationBIB
A hierarchy of pairwise commuting Hamiltonians for the quantum periodic Benjamin-Ono equation is constructed by using the Lax matrix. The eigenvectors of these Hamiltonians are Jack symmetric functions of infinitely many variables $x_1,x_2,\ldots$. This construction provides explicit expressions for the Hamiltonians in terms of the power sum symmetric functions $p_n=x_1^n+x_2^n+\cdots$ and is based on our recent results from [Comm. Math. Phys. 324 (2013), 831-849, arXiv:1212.2781].

Sekiguchi-Debiard operators at infinity
Published in Communications in Mathematical Physics 324 (2013) 831-849 • View PublicationBIB
We construct a family of pairwise commuting operators such that the Jack symmetric functions of infinitely many variables $x_1,x_2,...$ are their eigenfunctions. These operators are defined as limits at $N\to\infty$ of renormalised Sekiguchi-Debiard operators acting on symmetric polynomials in the variables $x_1,...,x_N$. They are differential operators in terms of the power sum variables $p_n=x_1^n+x_2^n+...$ and we compute their symbols by using the Jack reproducing kernel. Our result yields a hierarchy of commuting Hamiltonians for the quantum Calogero-Sutherland model with infinite number of bosonic particles in terms of the collective variables of the model. Our result also yields explicit shift operators for the Jack symmetric functions.

A mixed hook-length formula for affine Hecke algebras
Published in European J. Combinatorics 25 (2004), 1345-1376 • View PublicationBIB
Consider the affine Hecke algebra $H_l$ corresponding to the group $GL_l$ over a $p$-adic field with the residue field of cardinality $q$. Regard $H_l$ as an associative algebra over the field $C(q)$. Consider the $H_{l+m}$-module $W$ induced from the tensor product of the evaluation modules over the algebras $H_l$ and $H_m$. The module $W$ depends on two partitions $λ$ of $l$ and $μ$ of $m$, and on two non-zero elements of the field $C(q)$. There is a canonical operator $J$ acting on $W$, it corresponds to the trigonometric $R$-matrix. The algebra $H_{l+m}$ contains the finite dimensional Hecke algebra of rank $l+m$ as a subalgebra, and the operator $J$ commutes with the action of this subalgebra on $W$. Under this action, $W$ decomposes into irreducible subspaces according to the Littlewood-Richardson rule. We compute the eigenvalues of $J$, corresponding to certain multiplicity-free irreducible components of $W$. In particular, we give a formula for the ratio of two eigenvalues of $J$, corresponding to the ``highest'' and the ``lowest'' components. As an application, we derive the well known $q$-analogue of the hook-length formula for the number of standard tableaux of shape $λ$.

Rational representations of Yangians associated with skew Young diagrams
Published in Math. Z. 247 (2004), 21-63 • View PublicationBIB
Let $GL_M$ be general linear Lie group over the complex field. The irreducible rational representations of the group $GL_M$ are labeled by pairs of partitions $μ$ and $\tildeμ$ such that the total number of non-zero parts of $μ$ and $\tildeμ$ does not exceed $M$. Let $U$ be the representation of $GL_M$ corresponding to such a pair. Regard the direct product $GL_N\times GL_M$ as a subgroup of $GL_{N+M}$. Let $V$ be the irreducible rational representation of the group $GL_{N+M}$ corresponding to a pair of partitions $λ$ and $\tildeλ$. Consider the vector space $W=Hom_{G_M}(U,V)$. It comes with a natural action of the group $GL_N$. Let $n$ be sum of parts of $λ$ less the sum of parts of $μ$. Let $\tilde{n}$ be sum of parts of $\tildeλ$ less the sum of parts of $\tildeμ$. For any choice of two standard Young tableaux of skew shapes $λ/μ$ and $\tildeλ/\tildeμ$ respectively, we realize $W$ as a subspace in the tensor product of $n$ copies of the defining $N$-dimensional representation of $GL_N$, and of $\tilde{n}$ copies of the contragredient representation. This subspace is determined as the image of a certain linear operator $F$ in the tensor product, given by explicit multiplicative formula. When M=0 and $W=V$ is an irreducible representation of $GL_N$, we recover the classical realization of $V$ as a subspace in the space of all traceless tensors. Then the operator $F$ can be regarded as the rational analogue of the Young symmetrizer, corresponding to the chosen standard tableau of shape $λ$. Even in the special case M=0, our formula for the operator $F$ is new. Our results are applications of representation theory of the Yangian of the Lie algebra $gl_N$.

Representations of Yangians associated with skew Young diagrams
Published in Proceedings of the ICM, Beijing 2002, vol. 2, 643--654 • Search Publication
The Yangian of the Lie algebra $gl_N$ has a distinguished family of irreducible finite-dimensional representations, called elementary representations. They are parametrized by pairs, consisting of a skew Young diagram and a complex number. Each of these representations has an explicit realization, it extends the classical realization of the irreducible polynomial representations of $gl_N$ by means of the Young symmetrizers. We explicitly construct analogues of these elementary representations for the twisted Yangian, which corresponds to the Lie algebra $so_N$. Our construction provides solutions to several open problems in the classical representation theory. In particular, we obtain analogues of the Young symmetrizers for the Brauer centralizer algebra.

Representations of twisted Yangians associated with skew Young diagrams

Let $G_M$ be one of the complex Lie groups $O_M$ and $Sp_M$. The irreducible finite-dimensional representations of the group $G_M$ are labeled by partitions $μ$ satisfying certain extra conditions. Let $U$ be the representation of $G_M$ corresponding to $μ$. Regard the direct product $G_N\times G_M$ as a subgroup of $G_{N+M}$. Let $V$ be the irreducible representation of $G_{N+M}$ corresponding to a partition $λ$. Consider the vector space $W=Hom_{G_M}(U,V)$. It comes with a natural action of the group $G_N$. Let $n$ be sum of parts of $λ$ less the sum of parts of $μ$. For any choice of a standard Young tableau of skew shape $λ/μ$, we realize $W$ as a subspace in the tensor product of $n$ copies of the defining $N$-dimensional representation of $G_N$. This subspace is determined as the image of a certain linear operator $F(M)$ in the tensor product, given by an explicit formula. When M=0 and $W=V$ is an irreducible representation of $G_N$, we recover the classical realization of $V$ as a subspace in the space of all traceless tensors. Then the operator F(0) can be regarded as the analogue for $G_N$ of the Young symmetrizer, corresponding to the chosen standard tableau of shape $λ$. Even in the special case M=0, our formula for the operator $F(M)$ is new. Our results are applications of representation theory of the twisted Yangian, corresponding to $G_N$. In particular, $F(M)$ is an intertwining operator between two representations of the twisted Yangian in the $n$-fold tensor product.

On irreducibility of tensor products of Yangian modules associated with skew Young diagrams
Published in Duke Math. J. 112 (2002), 343-378 • View PublicationBIB
We study the tensor product $W$ of any number of "elementary" irreducible modules $V_1,...,V_k$ over the Yangian of the general linear Lie algebra. Each of these modules is determined by a skew Young diagram and a complex parameter. For any indices $i,j=1,...,k$ there is a canonical non-zero intertwining operator $A_{ij}$ between the tensor products $V_i\otimes V_j$ and $V_j\otimes V_i$. This operator is defined up to a scalar multipler. We show that the tensor product $W$ is irreducible, if and only if all operators $A_{ij}$ with $i<j$ are invertible. This implies that the Yangian module $W$ is irreducible, if and only if all pairwise tensor products $V_i\otimes V_j$ with $i<j$ are irreducible. We also introduce the notion of a Durfee rank of a skew Young diagram. For an ordinary Young diagram, this is the length of its main diagonal.

Mixed hook-length formula for degenerate affine Hecke algebras

Take the degenerate affine Hecke algebra $H_{l+m}$ corresponding to the group $GL_{l+m}$ over a $p$-adic field. Consider the $H_{l+m}$-module $W$ induced from the tensor product of the evaluation modules over the algebras $H_l$ and $H_m$. The module $W$ depends on two partitions $λ$ of $l$ and $μ$ of $m$, and on two complex numbers $z$ and $w$. There is a canonical operator $J$ acting in $W$, it corresponds to the rational Yang $R$-matrix. The algebra $H_{l+m}$ contains the symmetric group $S_{l+m}$, and $J$ commutes with the action of $S_{l+m}$ in $W$. Under this action, $W$ decomposes into irreducible subspaces according to the Littlewood-Richardson rule. We compute the eigenvalues of $J$, corresponding to certain multiplicity-free irreducible components of $W$. In particular, we obtain a nice formula for the ratio of two eigenvalues of $J$, corresponding to the "highest" and "lowest" (multiplicity-free) irreducible components of $W$.

Capelli elements in the classical universal enveloping algebras
Published in Adv. Studies Pure Math. 28 (2000), 261-285 • View PublicationBIB
For any complex classical group $G=O_N,Sp_N$ consider the ring $Z(g)$ of $G$-invariants in the corresponding enveloping algebra $U(g)$. Let $u$ be a complex parameter. For each $n=0,1,2,...$ and every partition $ν$ of $n$ into at most $N$ parts we define a certain rational function $Z_ν(u)$ which takes values in $Z(g)$. Our definition is motivated by the works of Cherednik and Sklyanin on the reflection equation, and also by the classical Capelli identity. The degrees in $U(g)$ of the values of $Z_ν(u)$ do not exceed $n$. We describe the images of these values in the $n$-th symmetric power of $g$. Our description involves the plethysm coefficients as studied by Littlewood, see Theorem 3.4 and Corollary 3.6.
