Locally $s$-distance transitive graphs

We give a unified approach to analysing, for each positive integer $s$, a class of finite connected graphs that contains all the distance transitive graphs as well as the locally $s$-arc transitive graphs of diameter at least $s$. A graph is in the class if it is connected and if, for each vertex $v$, the subgroup of automorphisms fixing $v$ acts transitively on the set of vertices at distance $i$ from $v$, for each $i$ from 1 to $s$. We prove that this class is closed under forming normal quotients. Several graphs in the class are designated as degenerate, and a nondegenerate graph in the class is called basic if all its nontrivial normal quotients are degenerate. We prove that, for $s\geq 2$, a nondegenerate, nonbasic graph in the class is either a complete multipartite graph, or a normal cover of a basic graph. We prove further that, apart from the complete bipartite graphs, each basic graph admits a faithful quasiprimitive action on each of its (1 or 2) vertex orbits, or a biquasiprimitive action. These results invite detailed additional analysis of the basic graphs using the theory of quasiprimitive permutation groups.
Triple crossing numbers of graphs
We introduce the triple crossing number, a variation of crossing number, of a graph, which is the minimal number of crossing points in all drawings with only triple crossings of the graph. It is defined to be zero for a planar graph, and to be infinite unless a graph admits a drawing with only triple crossings. In this paper, we determine the triple crossing numbers for all complete multipartite graphs including all complete graphs.

Given a finite simple graph $\cG$ with $n$ vertices, we can construct the Cayley graph on the symmetric group $S_n$ generated by the edges of $\cG$, interpreted as transpositions. We show that, if $\cG$ is complete multipartite, the eigenvalues of the Laplacian of $\Cay(\cG)$ have a simple expression in terms of the irreducible characters of transpositions, and of the Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. As a consequence we can prove that the Laplacians of $\cG$ and of $\Cay(\cG)$ have the same first nontrivial eigenvalue. This is equivalent to saying that Aldous's conjecture, asserting that the random walk and the interchange process have the same spectral gap, holds for complete multipartite graphs.
Graph Minors and Minimum Degree

Let $\mathcal{D}_k$ be the class of graphs for which every minor has minimum degree at most $k$.
Then $\mathcal{D}_k$ is closed under taking minors.
By the Robertson-Seymour graph minor theorem, $\mathcal{D}_k$ is characterised by a finite family of minor-minimal forbidden graphs, which we denote by $\widehat{\mathcal{D}}_k$.
This paper discusses $\widehat{\mathcal{D}}_k$ and related topics. We obtain four main results:
We prove that every $(k+1)$-regular graph with less than ${4/3}(k+2)$ vertices is in $\widehat{\mathcal{D}}_k$, and this bound is best possible.
We characterise the graphs in $\widehat{\mathcal{D}}_{k+1}$ that can be obtained from a graph in $\widehat{\mathcal{D}}_k$ by adding one new vertex.
For $k\leq 3$ every graph in $\widehat{\mathcal{D}}_k$ is $(k+1)$-connected, but for large $k$, we exhibit graphs in $\widehat{\mathcal{D}}_k$ with connectivity 1. In fact, we construct graphs in $\mathcal{D}_k$ with arbitrary block structure.
We characterise the complete multipartite graphs in $\widehat{\mathcal{D}}_k$, and prove analogous characterisations with minimum degree replaced by connectivity, treewidth, or pathwidth.
Partitioning 3-edge-colored complete equi-bipartite graphs by monochromatic trees under a color degree condition

The monochromatic tree partition number of an $r$-edge-colored graph $G$, denoted by $t_r(G)$, is the minimum integer $k$ such that whenever the edges of $G$ are colored with $r$ colors, the vertices of $G$ can be covered by at most $k$ vertex-disjoint monochromatic trees. In general, to determine this number is very difficult. For 2-edge-colored complete multipartite graph, Kaneko, Kano, and Suzuki gave the exact value of $t_2(K(n_1,n_2,...,n_k))$. In this paper, we prove that if $n\geq 3$, and K(n,n) is 3-edge-colored such that every vertex has color degree 3, then $t_3(K(n,n))=3.$
On the Cordial Deficiency of Complete Multipartite Graphs
We calculate the cordial edge deficiencies of the complete multipartite graphs and find an upper bound for their cordial vertex deficiencies. We also give conditions under which the tensor product of two cordial graphs is cordial.
On the outerplanar crossing numbers of complete multipartite graphs
We calculate the outerplanar crossing numbers of complete multipartite graphs which have $n$ partite sets with $m$ vertices and one partite set with $p$ vertices, where either $p|mn$ or $mn|p$.

Cover pebbling numbers and bounds for certain families of graphs
Given a configuration of pebbles on the vertices of a graph, a pebbling move is defined by removing two pebbles from some vertex and placing one pebble on an adjacent vertex. The cover pebbling number of a graph, gamma(G), is the smallest number of pebbles such that through a sequence of pebbling moves, a pebble can eventually be placed on every vertex simultaneously, no matter how the pebbles are initially distributed. The cover pebbling number for complete multipartite graphs and wheel graphs is determined. We also prove a sharp bound for gamma(G) given the diameter and number of vertices of G.

For a graph G and integer r \geq 1 we denote the family of independent r-sets of V(G) by I^{(r)}(G). A graph G is said to be r-EKR if no intersecting subfamily of I^{(r)}(G) is larger than the largest such family all of whose members contain some fixed v \in V(G). If this inequality is always strict, then G is said to be strictly r-EKR. We show that if a graph G is r-EKR then its lexicographic product with any complete graph is r-EKR.
For any graph G, we define μ(G) to be the minimum size of a maximal independent vertex set. We conjecture that, if 1 \leq r \leq 1/2μ(G), then G is r-EKR, and if r<1/2μ(G), then G is strictly r-EKR. This is known to be true when G is an empty graph, a cycle, a path or the disjoint union of complete graphs. We show that it is also true when G is the disjoint union of a pair of complete multipartite graphs.
