Extremal Laplacian energy of $\overrightarrow{C_{k+1}}$-free digraphs
The Laplacian energy of a digraph $G$ is defined as $\sum_{i=1}^n λ_i^2$, where $λ_i$ are the eigenvalues of the Laplacian matrix of $G$. A (di)graph $G$ is said to be $H$-free if it does not contain a copy of the fixed (di)graph $H$ as a sub(di)graph. In this paper, we extend the Turán problems to spectral Turán problems in digraphs: what is the maximal Laplacian energy of an $H$-free digraph of given order? In particular, we determine the maximum Laplacian energy and characterize the extremal digraphs of $\overrightarrow{C_{k+1}}$-free digraphs.
Bohr sets in sumsets III: expanding difference sets and almost Bohr sets
Let $G$ be a discrete abelian group. Følner showed that if $A \subseteq G$ has positive upper Banach density, then $A - A$ contains an almost Bohr set -- a set of the form $B \setminus E$ where $B$ is a Bohr set and $E$ has zero Banach density. We study the sets $S \subseteq G$ for which $A - A + S$ contains a Bohr set for every $A \subseteq G$ of positive upper Banach density. For $G = \mathbb{Z}$, we show that the sets $\{n^2: n \in \mathbb{N}\}$, $\{p - 1: p \text{ prime}\}$, and $\{ \lfloor n^c \rfloor: n \in \mathbb{N} \}$ with $c > 0$, have this property. We also study those sets $S$ such that $A + S$ contains a Bohr set for every almost Bohr set $A$. As applications, we prove: (i) If $φ_1, φ_2: G \to G$ are (not necessarily commuting) homomorphisms with finite indices $[G: φ_i(G)]$, and $C \subseteq G$ is a central set, then $φ_1(C) - φ_1(C) + φ_2(C)$ contains a Bohr set. This answers one of our questions in [35] and generalizes results in [44, 48]; (ii) Every set of pointwise recurrence in $\mathbb{Z}$ is a set of nice recurrence and a van der Corput set, extending known properties of sets of pointwise recurrence studied in [26, 27, 40].

On the Green-Tao theorem for sparse sets
We establish the following quantitative form of the Green--Tao theorem: if a set $\mathcal{A}$ of relative density $δ$ within the primes up to $N$ contains no nontrivial arithmetic progressions of length $k\geq 4$, then $δ\ll \exp(-(\log \log \log N)^{c_k})$ for some $c_k>0$. This improves on previous work of Rimanić and Wolf. The main new ingredients in the proof are a version of the Leng--Sah--Sawhney quasipolynomial inverse theorem for unbounded functions and a dense model theorem with quasipolynomial dependencies, which may be of independent interest.

Induced subdivisions of $K_{d+1}$ in graphs of high girth
In this paper, we show that for all $k\geq 10^8$, every graph with minimum degree $k$ and girth at least $10^8$ contains an induced subdivision of a $K_{k+1}$. This answers a problem asked by Kühn and Osthus (originally attributed to Shi).

Sterboul-Deming Graphs: Characterizations
A graph is said to be a Sterboul--Deming graph if $KE(G)=\emptyset$, that is, if every vertex of $G$ belongs to a posy or a flower (structures introduced by Sterboul, Deming, and Edmonds). These graphs can be regarded as the structural counterparts of König--Egerváry graphs. In this paper, we present several characterizations of Sterboul--Deming graphs. We first study the case of graphs with a perfect matching and with a unique perfect matching, providing a constructive algorithm to obtain the decomposition $(SD(G), KE(G))$. Then, we extend the analysis to the general case through the Gallai--Edmonds decomposition. In addition, we show that the class of Sterboul--Deming graphs is remarkably broad: it contains all graphs having a $\{C_n : n \textnormal{ odd}\}$-factor, providing a simple structural criterion for identifying such graphs. These results establish new connections between classical decomposition theorems and the internal structure of non--König--Egerváry graphs.

On R-disjoint graphs: a generalization of almost bipartite non-König-Egerváry graphs
An almost bipartite graph is a graph with a unique odd cycle. Levit and Mandrescu showed that in every non-König--Egerváry almost bipartite graph the equalities $\textnormal{ker}(G)=\textnormal{core}(G)$, $\textnormal{corona}(G)\cup N(\textnormal{core}(G)) = V(G)$ and $\left|\textnormal{corona}(G)\right|+\left|\textnormal{core}(G)\right|=2α(G)+1$ hold. In this work, we present a generalization of this theory by introducing the family of $R$-disjoint graphs, which contains all non-König--Egerváry almost bipartite graphs, allowing the presence of multiple odd cycles under connectivity constraints based on the reach sets $R(C)$. We prove that $R$-disjoint graphs preserve the fundamental properties of almost bipartite graphs: $\textnormal{ker}(G)=\textnormal{core}(G)$ and $\textnormal{corona}(G)\cup N(\textnormal{core}(G))=V(G)$. Moreover, we establish the formula $\left|\textnormal{corona}(G)\right|+\left|\textnormal{core}(G)\right|=2α(G)+k$, where $k$ is the number of disjoint odd cycles in $G$, which refines the previously known particular case when $k=1$. $R$-disjoint graphs naturally induce a canonical decomposition; we obtain structural properties of this decomposition and, as a consequence, verify a recent conjecture of Levit and Mandrescu.

On order-compatible paths in infinite graphs
Two $a{-}b$ paths in a graph $G$ are order-compatible if their common vertices occur in the same order when travelling from $a$ to $b$. Suppose a graph contains an infinite number $δ$ of edge-disjoint $a{-}b$ paths. G.A. Dirac asked whether there always exists a family of $δ$ edge-disjoint $a{-}b$ paths that are pairwise order-compatible. Confirming a conjecture by B. Zelinka, we show that this holds provided that the given $δ$ edge-disjoint $a{-}b$ paths have bounded length. Combining this with an earlier work of Zelinka, it follows that Dirac's question for an infinite cardinal $δ$ has an affirmative answer if and only if $δ$ has uncountable cofinality. As our second main result, we show that even when Dirac's question fails, it still holds that 'being connected by $δ$ edge-disjoint, pairwise order-compatible paths' is an equivalence relation for all values of $δ$. The most interesting case here is when $δ$ is countable.

The structure of group-labeled graphs forbidding an immersion
A $Γ$-labeled graph is an oriented graph with edges invertibly labeled by a group $Γ$. We prove a structure theorem for $Γ$-labeled graphs which forbid a fixed $Γ$-labeled graph as an immersion, for any finite $Γ$. Roughly, we show that such graphs admit a tree-cut decomposition in which every bag either contains few high degree vertices or is nearly signed over a proper subgroup of $Γ$.
A Class of Unrooted Phylogenetic Networks Inspired by the Properties of Rooted Tree-Child Networks
A directed phylogenetic network is tree-child if every non-leaf vertex has a child that is not a reticulation. As a class of directed phylogenetic networks, tree-child networks are very useful from a computational perspective. For example, several computationally difficult problems in phylogenetics become tractable when restricted to tree-child networks. At the same time, the class itself is rich enough to contain quite complex networks. Furthermore, checking whether a directed network is tree-child can be done in polynomial time. In this paper, we seek a class of undirected phylogenetic networks that is rich and computationally useful in a similar way to the class tree-child directed networks. A natural class to consider for this role is the class of tree-child-orientable networks which contains all those undirected phylogenetic networks whose edges can be oriented to create a tree-child network. However, we show here that recognizing such networks is NP-hard, even for binary networks, and as such this class is inappropriate for this role. Towards finding a class of undirected networks that fills a similar role to directed tree-child networks, we propose new classes called $q$-cuttable networks, for any integer $q\geq 1$. We show that these classes have many of the desirable properties, similar to tree-child networks in the rooted case, including being recognizable in polynomial time, for all $q\geq 1$. Towards showing the computational usefulness of the class, we show that the NP-hard problem Tree Containment is polynomial-time solvable when restricted to $q$-cuttable networks with $q\geq 3$.

Matchings in hypergraphs via Ore-degree conditions
Let $\mathcal{H} \subseteq \binom{[n]}{r}$ be an $r$-uniform hypergraph on vertex set $[n] = \{1,2,\dots, n\}$. For an $r$-set of vertices $S \subseteq [n]$, the \emph{degree} of $S$ is defined as $\textrm{deg}(S)=\sum_{v \in S}\textrm{deg}(v)$ and the minimum of $\textrm{deg}(S)$ over all non-edge $r$-subsets $S \not \in E(\mathcal{H})$ of $V({\cal H})$ is the {\it Ore-degree} of ${\cal H}$, denoted by ${σ_r}({\cal H})$. We prove several Ore-degree results about existence of matchings in hypergraphs: (1) For $n\geq 2r+2$, if ${\cal H}$ is an intersecting $r$-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices, then $σ_r({\cal H})\leq r{n-2 \choose r-2}$, and there is equality only when ${\cal H}$ is a $1$-star. (2) For $r\geq 3$ and $n\geq 4r^2$, if is a non-trivial intersecting $r$-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices, then $σ_r({\cal H})\leq r\left({n-2 \choose r-2}-{n-r-2 \choose r-2}\right)$. (3) For $s\geq 2$ and $n\geq 3r^2(s-1)$, if ${\cal H}$ is an $r$-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices and $σ_r({\cal H})>r\left({n-1 \choose r-1}-{n-s \choose r-1}\right)$, then ${\cal H}$ contains $s$ pairwise disjoint edges.

Chromatic thresholds for linear equations and recurrence
Motivated by classical problems in extremal graph theory, we study a chromatic analogue of Roth-type questions for linear equations over $\mathbb F_p$. Given a homogeneous equation $\mathcal L:\sum_{i=1}^k c_i x_i=0$ with $k\ge 3$, we study $\mathcal L$-solution-free sets $A\subseteq \mathbb F_p$ through the chromatic number of the Cayley graph $\mathsf{Cay}(\mathbb F_p,A)$. We introduce the \emph{chromatic threshold} $δ_χ(\mathcal L)$, the minimum density that guarantees bounded chromatic number of $\mathsf{Cay}(\mathbb F_p,A)$ among all $\mathcal L$-solution-free sets $A$, and determine exactly when $δ_χ(\mathcal L)=0$. We prove that $δ_χ(\mathcal L)=0$ if and only if $\mathcal L$ contains a zero-sum subcollection of at least three coefficients. A key ingredient is a quantitative chromatic lower bound for Cayley graphs on $\mathbb Z_p^n$ generated by Hamming balls around the all-ones vector. This is obtained by introducing a new Kneser-type graph that admits a natural embedding into $\mathbb Z_p^n$, together with an equivariant Borsuk--Ulam type argument. As a consequence, we resolve a question of Griesmer. We further relate our classification to the hierarchy of measurable, topological, and Bohr recurrence. In particular, we show that every infinite discrete abelian group admits a set that is topological recurrent but not measurable recurrent, extending the seminal examples of Kříž and Ruzsa.

On Ramsey Properties of k-Majority Tournaments
A central objective in Ramsey theory is determining whether restricted families of discrete structures necessarily contain substantially larger homogeneous substructures, compared to the unrestricted structures. In the setting of tournaments, it is well known that every tournament contains a transitive subgraph of size $\log n$, and that this is best possible up to a constant factor. A restricted family of tournaments that has been extensively studied is the family of $k$-majority tournaments. They are obtained by taking $2k-1$ linear orders of a set $X$, and defining a tournament on $X$ which has an edge from $u$ to $v$ if $u$ precedes $v$ in at least $k$ of these orders. Milans, Schreiber, and West proved that such tournaments indeed have significantly larger transitive tournaments. More precisely, they proved that every $k$-majority tournament contains a transitive tournament of size $n^{2^{-Θ(k)}}$. Our main goal in this paper is to give an exponential improvement in the dependence of the exponent on $k$ by showing that every $k$-majority tournament contains a transitive set of size $n^{Ω(1/k)}$. Finally, we highlight several open problems and conjectural directions related to random $k$-majority tournaments.

All-to-all Routing on Kautz Graphs: Regular Routing Beats Shortest Paths
We study packet routing in the Kautz digraph K(d,D), where every ordered pair of distinct vertices is connected by a unique shortest directed path. The regular routing introduced in earlier work schedules all ordered pairs in tau(d,D) = (D-1)d^(D-2) + D d^(D-1) steps. We show that, for every fixed outdegree d at least 2 and all sufficiently large diameters D, no shortest-path routing scheme can match this makespan. More precisely, we prove that K(d,D) contains an edge whose shortest-path congestion strictly exceeds tau(d,D) when D is sufficiently large. Our construction uses edge-words drawn from a subset of ternary unbordered square-free words, together with a trimming inequality that propagates large congestion at distance D down to shorter distances. Computations for d=2 and small D show that for all D at least 4 there is an edge in K(2,D) with congestion greater than tau(2,D).

Metric embeddings of cubes into dense subsets of cubes
Fix $k \in \mathbb{N}$ and $0 < δ< 1$. We study how large $N$ must be so that every $δ$-dense subset $\mathcal{D} \subset \{0,1\}^N$ (meaning $|\mathcal{D}| \geq δ2^N$) contains the image of a metric embedding $f: \{0,1\}^k \to \mathcal{D}$. We study three variants. For a $(1+\varepsilon)$-bi-Lipschitz map $f$ with fixed $\varepsilon > 0$, we show $N = O(\varepsilon^{-2} \log(1/δ) k^3)$. For an isometric map with arbitrary rescaling (undistorted), we show $N = \log(1/δ) e^{Ω(k)}$ and conjecture $N = \log(1/δ) e^{O(k)}$. For an isometric map with bounded rescaling we show $N = \exp[\log(1/δ) e^{Θ(k)}]$. As a geometric application, we obtain a nonpositive Alexandrov curvature counterpart to the work of Bartal-Linial-Mendel-Naor on the nonlinear Dvoretzky problem. It is known that any subset of $\{0,1\}^N$ embedding with bi-Lipschitz distortion $< α$ into a metric space of nonnegative Alexandrov curvature must satisfy $|\mathcal{D}| \lesssim 2^{N(1-Ω(α^{-2}))}$. Work of Gromov and Kondo shows that this approach does not extend to CAT(0) targets. We prove that for every $N \gtrsim α^6 \geq 1$, any $\mathcal{D} \subset \{0,1\}^N$ embedding with distortion $< α$ into a CAT(0) space must satisfy $|\mathcal{D}| \lesssim 2^{N(1-Ω(α^{-4}))}$, via a completely different approach. Similar results hold for targets of nontrivial Enflo type. Finally, we prove the density analogue of a coloring theorem of Rodl-Sales: we give bounds for $(1+\varepsilon)$-bi-Lipschitz embeddings of the path $\{1,\ldots,k\}$ into dense subsets of $\{1,\ldots,N\}$ (improving a bound of Dumitrescu), and prove similar bounds for binary tree metrics.
Hypercube drawings with no long plane paths
We study the existence of plane substructures in drawings of the $d$-dimensional hypercube graph $Q_d$. We construct drawings of $Q_d$ which contain no plane subgraph with more than $2d-2$ edges, no plane path with more than $2d-3$ edges, and no plane matching of size more than $2d-4$. On the other hand, we prove that every rectilinear drawing of $Q_d$ with vertices in convex position contains a plane path of length $d$ (if $d$ is odd) or $d-1$ (if $d$ is even). We also prove that if a graph $G$ is a plane subgraph of every drawing of $Q_d$ for a sufficiently large $d$, then $G$ is necessarily a forest of caterpillars. Lastly, we give a short proof of a generalization of a result by Alpert et al. [Cong. Numerantium, 2009] on the maximum rectilinear crossing number of $Q_d$.

Subspace variations of the weighted skew Bollobás theorem
Let $V$ be a finite-dimensional real vector space. A collection $\mathcal{P} = \{(A_i,B_i)\}_{i=1}^m$ of pairs of subspaces of $V$ is called a skew Bollobás system if $\dim(A_i\cap B_i)=0$ for each $i\in [m]$ and $\dim(A_i\cap B_j)>0$ for all $1\leq i<j \leq m$. Assume that $V = V^{(1)}\oplus \cdots \oplus V^{(r)}$ and $\mathcal{P}= \{(A_i,B_i)\}_{i=1}^m$ is a skew Bollobás system of subspaces of $V$ satisfying $ A_i = \bigoplus_{k=1}^r (A_i \cap V^{(k)})$ and $ B_i = \bigoplus_{k=1}^r (B_i \cap V^{(k)})$ for each $i\in [m]$. Denote $a_{i,k} = \dim(A_i \cap V^{(k)})$ and $b_{i,k} = \dim(B_i \cap V^{(k)})$. Suppose that $a_{1,k} \le \cdots \le a_{m,k}$ and $b_{1,k} \ge \cdots \ge b_{m,k}$ for each $k\in [r]$. Using the exterior algebraic method developed by Lovász and Scott--Wilmer, we prove that $$ \sum_{i=1}^{m} \frac{1}{\prod_{k=1}^{r} \binom{a_{i,k}+b_{i,k}}{a_{i,k}}} \le 1 . $$ This generalizes the results of Alon (JCTA, 1985) and Scott--Wilmer (JLMS, 2021) to multipart weighted setting. Secondly, we solve a conjecture of Hegedüs (AJC, 2015) concerning projective subspaces, showing that any skew Bollobás system of projective subspaces in an $n$-dimensional projective space contains at most $2^{n+1} - 2$ pairs. Thirdly, we prove that if $\mathcal{P}= \{(A_i,B_i)\}_{i=1}^m$ is a skew Bollobás system of subspaces of $V$ with $a_i=\dim (A_i)$ and $b_i=\dim (B_i)$, then $$ \sum_{i=1}^m \frac{1}{(a_i+ b_i+1)\binom{a_i+b_i}{a_i}} \le 1. $$ This gives an extension to the subspace setting of the results of Hegedüs--Frankl (EUJC, 2024) and Yue (DM, 2026). Finally, we extend the above inequality to systems of $d$-tuples of subspaces, giving a unified bound that implies the corresponding results for $d$-tuples of subsets.
Autocatalytic Cores in Reaction Networks with Explicit Catalysis
Autocatalytic cores are minimal units in reaction networks (RNs) responsible for the emergence of autocatalysis. In the absence of explicit catalysis, i.e., when an entity appears both as reactant and product in the same reaction, they are known to be encoded by square submatrices of the stoichiometric matrix whose columns can be reordered as an irreducible child-selection (CS) matrix with negative diagonal and nonnegative off-diagonal (Metzler matrix). In the bipartite Koenig graph representing the RN, these CS matrices can be identified by fluffles, i.e., strong blocks with an identical number of entity and reaction vertices that have out- and in-degree 1, respectively. Here, we adapt the concepts derived for autocatalytic cores to RNs with explicitly catalyzed reactions, which emerge as digons, i.e., elementary circuits in the Koenig graph of length 2. In this setting, we confirm that an inspection of the stoichiometric matrix alone is inconclusive concerning the presence and number of autocatalytic cores, requiring a more delicate algebraic analysis. Nevertheless, this generalization preserves both the graph and the matrix representation as fluffles and irreducible Metzler CS matrices, respectively, although the diagonal is no longer necessarily strictly negative. We introduce the notion of hard autocatalytic cores, i.e. those that do not yield other autocatalytic cores upon inclusion of all reverse reactions. Finally, we consider the case of unit stoichiometries and show that each autocatalytic core can be constructed as the superposition of at most 2 elementary circuits. In particular, autocatalytic cores involving explicitly catalyzed reactions always contain a spanning subgraph consisting of a single elementary circuit together with a simple entity-to-reaction chord. Moreover, we identify the essentially unique example for which at least two circuits are required.

Some properties of minimally nonperfectly divisible graphs
A graph is perfectly divisible if for each of its induced subgraph $H$, $V(H)$ can be partitioned into $A$ and $B$ such that $H[A]$ is perfect and $ω(H[B]) < ω(H)$, and a graph $G$ is perfectly weight divisible if for every positive integral weight function on $V(G)$ and each of its induced subgraph $H$, $V(H)$ can be partitioned into $A$ and $B$ such that $H[A]$ is perfect and the maximum weight of a clique in $H[B]$ is smaller than the maximum weight of a clique in $H$. A clique $X$ of a connected graph $G$ is called a clique cutset if $G-X$ is disconnected. In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the perfect divisibility of a graph and its perfect weighted divisibility. We also show that $2P_3$-free or claw-free minimally nonperfectly divisible graphs contain no clique cutset, that conditionally answers a question of Hoàng [Discrete Math. \textbf{349} (2025) 114809].

Combinatorial sufficient conditions for graph rigidity and applications to random graphs
A graph $G=(V,E)$ is called $d$-rigid if, for a generic embedding of its vertices in $\mathbb{R}^d$, every edge-length preserving continuous motion of the vertices preserves the distances between all pairs of non-adjacent vertices as well. In this paper, we present several new results on the rigidity of random graphs. In particular, we show that there exists $c>0$ such that, for $p\ge 2 \log{n}/n$, the binomial random graph $G(n,p)$ is with high probability (whp) $\lfloor c n p\rfloor$-rigid. This is sharp up to the constant $c$, and complements recent results of Peled and Peleg (in the regime $p= o(n^{-1/2})$), and of Jordán, Liu, and Villányi (in the constant $p$ regime). Moreover, we show that for every fixed $d\ge 2$ and $r\ge 501d$, a random $r$-regular graph is whp $d$-rigid, and that for $100/n\le p\le 2\log{n}/n$, the binomial random graph $G(n,p)$ contains whp an $\lfloor np/251\rfloor$-rigid subgraph with at least $(1-e^{-np/2})n$ vertices. Both results are sharp up to the multiplicative constant. In addition, we present a new sufficient condition for rigidity in terms of the minimum codegree of the graph (the minimum number of common neighbours of a pair of vertices in the graph). A main tool in our arguments is a new combinatorial sufficient condition for rigidity, which provides a common generalization to Whiteley's vertex-splitting lemmas, and to the "rigid partitions" method, developed in works by Crapo, Lindemann, Lew, Nevo, Peled and Raz, and by the present authors.

Colour diversity in spanning structures under Dirac-type conditions
Finding spanning structures with many distinct colours in properly edge-coloured graphs is a central theme in extremal combinatorics. A classical result of Andersen shows that every proper edge-colouring of the complete graph $K_n$ contains a Hamilton cycle with $n - O(n^{1/2})$ distinct colours. In the bipartite setting, the analogous question for perfect matchings is closely related to permutations in Latin squares. In this paper, we investigate how a Dirac-type minimum degree condition forces colour diversity in spanning structures. For every constant $1/2 < c \le 1$, we prove the following. $\bullet$ Every properly edge-coloured graph $G$ on $n$ vertices with $δ(G)\ge cn$ contains a Hamilton cycle with at least $cn - O(n^{1/2})$ distinct colours. $\bullet$ Every subset of an $n\times n$ Latin square with at least $cn$ cells in each row and each column contains a permutation with at least $cn - O(n^{2/3})$ distinct symbols. Both bounds are best possible up to the error term.
