We compute the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of the edge ideals of two families of circulant graphs, which includes all cubic circulant graphs. A feature of our approach is to combine bounds on the regularity, the projective dimension, and the reduced Euler characteristic to derive an exact value for the regularity.
Integral graphs obtained by dual Seidel switching

Dual Seidel switching is a graph operation introduced by W.~Haemers in 1984. This operation can change the graph, however it does not change its bipartite double, and because of this, the operation leaves the squares of the eigenvalues invariant. Thus, if a graph is integral then it is still integral after dual Seidel switching. In this paper two new infinite families of integral graphs are obtained by applying dual Seidel switching to the Star graphs and the Odd graphs. In particular, three new $4$-regular integral graphs with their spectra are found.
Throttling processes equivalent to full throttling on trees

Consider a discrete-time process on a graph $G$ where a set $B$ of initial vertices are chosen to be colored blue (the remainder being white) and then a time step consists of every currently blue vertex forcing all of its neighbors to become blue; this process stops when every vertex of the graph is blue, and the process is called full forcing. The full throttling number of $G$ is then defined to be the minimum sum of the cardinality of $B$ and the number of time steps needed to complete the forcing process. On trees, the full throttling number is equivalent to the throttling numbers of several other graph processes, such as positive-semidefinite zero forcing, the game of cops and robbers, and the distance domination number (alternately, the $k$-radius) of a graph. For all of these, it is known that maximum possible throttling number for a tree on $n$ vertices is somewhere between $1.4502\sqrt{n}$ and $\frac{\sqrt{14}}{2}\sqrt{n}$, with the former exhibited by a family of spiders. After introducing some new ideas and methods for working with throttling on trees, this paper determines the exact full throttling number of all balanced spiders (trees with equal-length paths extending from a center vertex), and proves that their full throttling numbers are bounded above by that of paths of the same order $n$, which are known to have full throttling number $\lceil\sqrt{2n}-\frac{1}{2}\rceil$.

Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity is a measure of algebraic complexity of an ideal. Regularity of monomial ideals can be investigated combinatorially. We use a simple graph decomposition and results from structural graph theory to prove, improve and generalize many of the known bounds on regularity of quadratic square-free monomial ideals.

The study of parameterized streaming complexity on graph problems was initiated by Fafianie et al. (MFCS'14) and Chitnis et al. (SODA'15 and SODA'16). Simply put, the main goal is to design streaming algorithms for parameterized problems such that $O\left(f(k)\log^{O(1)}n\right)$ space is enough, where $f$ is an arbitrary computable function depending only on the parameter $k$. However, in the past few years, very few positive results have been established. Most of the graph problems that do have streaming algorithms of the above nature are ones where localized checking is required, like Vertex Cover or Maximum Matching parameterized by the size $k$ of the solution we are seeking. Many important parameterized problems that form the backbone of traditional parameterized complexity are known to require $Ω(n)$ bits for any streaming algorithm; e.g., Feedback Vertex Set, Even/Odd Cycle Transversal, Triangle Deletion or the more general ${\cal F}$-Subgraph Deletion when parameterized by solution size $k$.
Our main conceptual contribution is to overcome the obstacles to efficient parameterized streaming algorithms by utilizing the power of parameterization. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work in parameterized streaming complexity that considers structural parameters instead of the solution size as a parameter. We focus on the vertex cover size $K$ as the parameter for the parameterized graph deletion problems we consider. At the same time, most of the previous work in parameterized streaming complexity was restricted to the EA (edge arrival) or DEA (dynamic edge arrival) models. In this work, we consider the above mentioned graph deletion problems in the four most well-studied streaming models, i.e., the EA, DEA, VA (vertex arrival) and AL (adjacency list) models.
Fractional cocoloring of graphs

The cochromatic number $Z(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the fewest number of colors needed to color the vertices of $G$ so that each color class is a clique or an independent set. In a fractional cocoloring of $G$ a non-negative weight is assigned to each clique and independent set so that for each vertex $v$, the sum of the weights of all cliques and independent sets containing $v$ is at least one. The smallest total weight of such a fractional cocoloring of $G$ is the fractional cochromatic number $Z_f(G)$.
In this paper we prove results for the fractional cochromatic number $Z_f(G)$ that parallel results for $Z(G)$ and the well studied fractional chromatic number $χ_f{(G)}$. For example $Z_f(G)=χ_f(G)$ when $G$ is triangle-free, except when the only nontrivial component of $G$ is a star. More generally, if $G$ contains no $k$-clique, then $Z_f(G)\le χ_f(G)\le Z_f(G)+R(k,k)$. Moreover, every graph $G$ with $χ_f(G)=m$ contains a subgraph $H$ with $Z_f(H)\ge (\frac 14 - o(1))\frac m{\log_2 m}$. We also prove that the maximum value of $Z_f(G)$ over all graphs $G$ of order $n$ is $Θ(n/\log n)$, and the maximum over all graphs embedded on an orientable surface of genus $g$ is $Θ(\sqrt g / \log g)$.

We determine the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of binomial edge ideals of complement reducible graphs (cographs). For cographs with $n$ vertices the maximum regularity grows as $2n/3$. We also bound the regularity by graph theoretic invariants and construct a family of counterexamples to a conjecture of Hibi and Matsuda.
On Edge-Partitioning of Complete Geometric Graphs into Plane Trees
In response to a well-known open question ``Does every complete geometric graph on $2n\/$ vertices have a partition of its edge set into $n\/$ plane spanning trees?" we provide an affirmative answer when the complete geometry graph is in the regular wheel configuration. Also we present sufficient conditions for the complete geometric graph on $2n\/$ vertices to have a partition of its edge set into $n\/$ plane spanning trees (which are double stars, caterpillars or $ w\/$-caterpillars).
On Convex Graphs Having Plane Spanning Subgraph of Certain Type
Motivated by a result of [17], we determine necessary and sufficient conditions on $F\/$ with $|E(F)| \leq n-1\/$ for which $K_n - F\/$ admits a $g$-angulation. For $|E(F)| \geq n\/$, we investigate the possibility of placing $F\/$ in $K_n\/$ such that $K_n -F\/$ admits a $g$-angulation for certain families of graphs $F\/$.
An Asymmetric Random Rado Theorem: 1-statement

A classical result by Rado characterises the so-called partition-regular matrices $A$, i.e.\ those matrices $A$ for which any finite colouring of the positive integers yields a monochromatic solution to the equation $Ax=0$. We study the {\sl asymmetric} random Rado problem for the (binomial) random set $[n]_p$ in which one seeks to determine the threshold for the property that any $r$-colouring, $r \geq 2$, of the random set has a colour $i \in [r]$ admitting a solution for the matrical equation $A_i x = 0$, where $A_1,\ldots,A_r$ are predetermined partition-regular matrices pre-assigned to the colours involved.
We prove a $1$-statement for the asymmetric random Rado property. In the symmetric setting our result retrieves the $1$-statement of the {\sl symmetric} random Rado theorem established in a combination of results by Rödl and Ruciński~\cite{RR97} and by Friedgut, Rödl and Schacht~\cite{FRS10}. We conjecture that our $1$-statement in fact unveils the threshold for the asymmetric random Rado property, yielding a counterpart to the so-called {\em Kohayakawa-Kreuter conjecture} concerning the threshold for the asymmetric random Ramsey problem in graphs.
We deduce the aforementioned $1$-statement for the asymmetric random Rado property after establishing a broader result generalising the main theorem of Friedgut, Rödl and Schacht from~\cite{FRS10}. The latter then serves as a combinatorial framework through which $1$-statements for Ramsey-type problems in random sets and (hyper)graphs alike can be established in the asymmetric setting following a relatively short combinatorial examination of certain hypergraphs. To establish this framework we utilise a recent approach put forth by Mousset, Nenadov and Samotij~\cite{MNS18} for the Kohayakawa-Kreuter conjecture.
On the 4-color theorem for signed graphs
There are several ways to generalize graph coloring to signed graphs. Máčajová, Raspaud and Škoviera introduced one of them and conjectured that in this setting, for signed planar graphs four colors are always enough, generalising thereby The Four Color Theorem. We disprove the conjecture.

Finite smooth digraphs, that is, finite directed graphs without sources and sinks, can be partially ordered via pp-constructability. We give a complete description of this poset and, in particular, we prove that it is a distributive lattice. Moreover, we show that in order to separate two smooth digraphs in our poset it suffices to show that the polymorphism clone of one of the digraphs satisfies a prime cyclic loop condition that is not satisfied by the polymorphism clone of the other. Furthermore, we prove that the poset of cyclic loop ordered by their strength for clones is a distributive lattice, too.

We characterize classes of graphs closed under taking vertex-minors and having no $P_n$ and no disjoint union of $n$ copies of the $1$-subdivision of $K_{1,n}$ for some $n$. Our characterization is described in terms of a tree of radius $2$ whose leaves are labelled by the vertices of a graph $G$, and the width is measured by the maximum possible cut-rank of a partition of $V(G)$ induced by splitting an internal node of the tree to make two components. The minimum width possible is called the depth-$2$ rank-brittleness of $G$. We prove that for all $n$, every graph with sufficiently large depth-$2$ rank-brittleness contains $P_n$ or disjoint union of $n$ copies of the $1$-subdivision of $K_{1,n}$ as a vertex-minor.

Let $π:{\mathbb R}^n \to {\mathbb R}^d$ be any linear projection, let $A$ be the image of the standard basis. Motivated by Postnikov's study of postitive Grassmannians via plabic graphs and Galashin's connection of plabic graphs to slices of zonotopal tilings of 3-dimensional cyclic zonotopes, we study the poset of subdivisions induced by the restriction of $π$ to the $k$-th hypersimplex, for $k=1,\dots,n-1$. We show that:
- For arbitrary $A$ and for $k\le d+1$, the corresponding fiber polytope $\mathcal F^{(k)}(A)$ is normally isomorphic to the Minkowski sum of the secondary polytopes of all subsets of $A$ of size $\max\{d+2,n-k+1\}$.
- When $A={\mathbf P}_n$ is the vertex set of an $n$-gon, we answer the Baues question in the positive: the inclusion of the poset of $π$-coherent subdivisions into the poset of all $π$-induced subdivisions is a homotopy equivalence.
- When $A=\mathbf{C}(n,d)$ is the vertex set of a cyclic $d$-polytope with $d$ odd and any $n \ge d+3$, there are non-lifting (and even more so, non-separated) $π$-induced subdivisions for $k=2$.
Characteristic Power Series of Graph Limits

In this note, we show how to obtain a "characteristic power series" of graphons -- infinite limits of dense graphs -- as the limit of normalized reciprocal characteristic polynomials. This leads to a new characterization of graph quasi-randomness and another perspective on spectral theory for graphons, a complete description of the function in terms of the spectrum of the graphon as a self-adjoint kernel operator. Interestingly, while we apply a standard regularization to classical determinants, it is unclear how necessary this is.
On the Walks and Bipartite Double Coverings of Graphs with the same Main Eigenspace

The main eigenvalues of a graph $G$ are those eigenvalues of the $(0,1)$-adjacency matrix $\mathbf A$ having a corresponding eigenvector not orthogonal to $\mathbf j = (1,\dots,1)$. The CDC of a graph $G$ is the direct product $G\times K_2$. The main eigenspace of $\mathbf A$ is generated by the principal main eigenvectors and is the same as the image of the walk matrix. A hierarchy of properties of pairs of graphs is established in view of their CDC's, walk matrices, main eigenvalues, eigenvectors and eigenspaces. We determine by algorithm that there are 32 pairs of non-isomorphic graphs on at most 8 vertices which have the same CDC.
Fractional Local Dimension

The original notion of dimension for posets was introduced by Dushnik and Miller in 1941 and has been studied extensively in the literature. In 1992, Brightwell and Scheinerman developed the notion of fractional dimension as the natural linear programming relaxation of the Dushnik-Miller concept. In 2016, Ueckerdt introduced the concept of local dimension, and in just three years, several research papers studying this new parameter have been published. In this paper, we introduce and study fractional local dimension. As suggested by the terminology, our parameter is a common generalization of fractional dimension and local dimension.
For a pair $(n,d)$ with $2\le d<n$, we consider the poset $P(1,d;n)$ consisting of all $1$-element and $d$-element subsets of $\{1,\dots,n\}$ partially ordered by inclusion. This poset has fractional dimension $d+1$, but for fixed $d\ge2$, its local dimension goes to infinity with $n$. On the other hand, we show that as $n$ tends to infinity, the fractional local dimension of $P(1,d;n)$ tends to a value $\text{FLD}(d)$ which we will be able to determine exactly. For all $d\ge2$, $\text{FLD}(d)$ is strictly less than $d+1$, and for large $d$, $\text{FLD}(d)\sim d/(\log d-\log\log d-o(1))$. As an immediate corollary, we show that if $P$ is a poset, and $d$ is the maximum degree of a vertex in the comparability graph of $P$, then the fractional local dimension of $P$, is at most $2+\text{FLD}(d).$ Our arguments use both discrete and continuous methods.

Using the notion of Mahonian statistic on acyclic posets, we introduce a $q$-analogue of the $h$-polynomial of a simple generalized permutohedron. We focus primarily on the case of nestohedra and on explicit computations for many interesting examples, such as $S_n$-invariant nestohedra, graph associahedra, and Stanley--Pitman polytopes. For the usual (Stasheff) associahedron, our generalization yields an alternative $q$-analogue to the well-studied Narayana numbers.
Spectra and eigenspaces from regular partitions of Cayley (di)graphs of permutation groups
In this paper, we present a method to obtain regular (or equitable) partitions of Cayley (di)graphs (that is, graphs, digraphs, or mixed graphs) of permutation groups on $n$ letters. We prove that every partition of the number $n$ gives rise to a regular partition of the Cayley graph. By using representation theory, we also obtain the complete spectra and the eigenspaces of the corresponding quotient (di)graphs. More precisely, we provide a method to find all the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of such (di)graphs, based on their irreducible representations. As examples, we apply this method to the pancake graphs $P(n)$ and to a recent known family of mixed graphs $Γ(d,n,r)$ (having edges with and without direction). As a byproduct, the existence of perfect codes in $P(n)$ allows us to give a lower bound for the multiplicity of its eigenvalue $-1$.
