We show that the number of combinatorial types of clusters of type $D_4$ modulo reflection-rotation is exactly equal to the number of combinatorial types of tropical planes in $\mathbb{TP}^5$. This follows from a result of Sturmfels and Speyer which classifies these tropical planes into seven combinatorial classes using a detailed study of the tropical Grassmannian $\operatorname{Gr}(3,6)$. Speyer and Williams show that the positive part $\operatorname{Gr}^+(3,6)$ of this tropical Grassmannian is combinatorially equivalent to a small coarsening of the cluster fan of type $D_4$. We provide a structural bijection between the rays of $\operatorname{Gr}^+(3,6)$ and the almost positive roots of type $D_4$ which makes this connection more precise. This bijection allows us to use the pseudotriangulations model of the cluster algebra of type $D_4$ to describe the equivalence of "positive" tropical planes in $\mathbb{TP}^5$, giving a combinatorial model which characterizes the combinatorial types of tropical planes using automorphisms of pseudotriangulations of the octogon.
Combinatorial Auslander-Reiten quivers and reduced expressions
In this paper, we introduce the notion of combinatorial Auslander-Reiten(AR) quiver for commutation classes $[\widetilde{w}]$ of $w$ in finite Weyl group. This combinatorial object visualizes the convex partial order $\prec_{[\widetilde{w}]}$ on the subset $Φ(w)$ of positive roots. By analyzing properties of the combinatorial AR-quivers with labelings and reflection maps, we can apply their properties to the representation theory of KLR algebras and multiplication structure of dual PBW generators associated to any commutation class $[\widetilde{w}_0]$ of the longest element $w_0$.

We introduce new partial orders on the sequence positive roots and study the statistics of the poset by using Auslander-Reiten quivers for finite type ADE. Then we can prove that the statistics provide interesting information on the representation theories of KLR-algebras, quantum groups and quantum affine algebras including Dorey's rule, bases theory for quantum groups, and denominator formulas between fundamental representations. As applications, we prove Dorey's rule for quantum affine algebras $U_q(E_{6,7,8}^{(1)})$ and partial information of denominator formulas for $U_q(E_{6,7,8}^{(1)})$. We also suggest conjecture on complete denominator formulas for $U_q(E_{6,7,8}^{(1)})$.
The $q$-analog of Kostant's partition function and the highest root of the classical Lie algebras
Kostant's partition function counts the number of ways to represent a particular vector (weight) as a nonnegative integral sum of positive roots of a Lie algebra. For a given weight the $q$-analog of Kostant's partition function is a polynomial where the coefficient of $q^k$ is the number of ways the weight can be written as a nonnegative integral sum of exactly $k$ positive roots. In this paper we determine generating functions for the $q$-analog of Kostant's partition function when the weight in question is the highest root of the classical Lie algebras of types $B$, $C$ and $D$.
Markovian dynamics of concurrent systems

Monoid actions of trace monoids over finite sets are powerful models of concurrent systems---for instance they encompass the class of 1-safe Petri nets. We characterise Markov measures attached to concurrent systems by finitely many parameters with suitable normalisation conditions. These conditions involve polynomials related to the combinatorics of the monoid and of the monoid action. These parameters generalise to concurrent systems the coefficients of the transition matrix of a Markov chain.
A natural problem is the existence of the uniform measure for every concurrent system. We prove this existence under an irreducibility condition. The uniform measure of a concurrent system is characterised by a real number, the characteristic root of the action, and a function of pairs of states, the Parry cocyle. A new combinatorial inversion formula allows to identify a polynomial of which the characteristic root is the smallest positive root. Examples based on simple combinatorial tilings are studied.
Small roots, low elements, and the weak order in Coxeter groups

In this article we provide a new finite class of elements in any Coxeter system (W,S) called low elements. They are defined from Brink and Howlett's small roots, which are strongly linked to the automatic structure of (W,S). Our first main result is to show that they form a Garside shadow in (W,S), i.e., they contain S and are closed under join (for the right weak order) and by taking suffixes. These low elements are the key to prove that all finitely generated Artin-Tits groups have a finite Garside family. This result was announced in a note with P. Dehornoy (P. Dehornoy, M. Dyer, and C. Hohlweg. Garside families in Artin-Tits monoids and low elements in Coxeter groups. Comptes Rendus Mathematique, 353:403-408., 2015.) in which the present article was referred to under the following working title: Monotonicity of dominance-depth on root systems and applications.
The proof is based on a fundamental property enjoyed by small roots and which is our second main result; the set of small root is bipodal.
For a natural number n, we define similarly n-low elements from n-small roots and conjecture that the set of n-small roots is bipodal, implying the set of n-low elements is a Garside shadow; we prove this conjecture for affine Coxeter groups and Coxeter groups whose graph is labelled by 3 and infinity. To prove the latter, we extend the root poset on positive roots to a weak order on the root system and define a Bruhat order on the root system, and study the paths in those orders in order to establish a criterion to prove bipodality involving only finite dihedral reflection subgroups.

In this article, we investigate the existence of joins in the weak order of an infinite Coxeter group W. We give a geometric characterization of the existence of a join for a subset X in W in terms of the inversion sets of its elements and their position relative to the imaginary cone. Finally, we discuss inversion sets of infinite reduced words and the notions of biconvex and biclosed sets of positive roots.

The set of weights of a finite-dimensional representation of a reductive Lie algebra has a natural poset structure ("weight poset"). Studying certain combinatorial problems related to antichains in weight posets, we realised that the best setting is provided by the representations associated with $\mathbb Z$-gradings of simple Lie algebras (arXiv: math.CO 1411.7683). If $\mathfrak g$ is a simple Lie algebra, then a $\mathbb Z$-grading of $\mathfrak g$ induces a $\mathbb Z$-grading of the corresponding root system $Δ$. In this article, we elaborate on a general theory of lower ideals (or antichains) in the corresponding weight posets $Δ(1)$. In particular, we provide a bijection between the lower ideals in $Δ(1)$ and certain elements of the Weyl group of $\mathfrak g$. An inspiring observation is that, to a great extent, the theory of lower ideals in $Δ(1)$ is similar to the theory of upper (= ad-nilpotent) ideals in the whole poset of positive roots $Δ^+$.

A root ideal arrangement $A_I$ is the set of reflecting hyperplanes corresponding to the roots in an order ideal $I$ of the root poset on the positive roots of a finite crystallographic root system. A characterisation of supersolvable root ideal arrangements is obtained. Namely, $A_I$ is supersolvable if and only if $I$ is chain peelable, meaning that it is possible to reach the empty poset from $I$ by in each step removing a maximal chain which is also an order filter. In particular, supersolvability is preserved under taking subideals. We identify the minimal ideals that correspond to non-supersolvable arrangements. There are essentially two such ideals, one in type $D_4$ and one in type $F_4$. By showing that $A_I$ is not line-closed if $I$ contains one of these, we deduce that the Orlik-Solomon algebra $OS(A_I)$ has the Koszul property if and only if $A_I$ is supersolvable.

We first provide an explicit combinatorial description of the Auslander-Reiten quiver $Γ^Q$ of finite type $D$. Then we can investigate the categories of finite dimensional representations over the quantum affine algebra $U_q'(D^{(i)}_{n+1})$ $(i=1,2)$ and the quiver Hecke algebra $R_{D_{n+1}}$ associated to $D_{n+1}$ $(n \ge 3)$, by using the combinatorial description and the generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality functor. As applications, we can prove that Dorey's rule holds for the category $\Rep(R_{D_{n+1}})$ and prove an interesting difference between multiplicity free positive roots and multiplicity non-free positive roots.
Asymptotic distribution of the numbers of vertices and arcs of the giant strong component in sparse random digraphs

Two models of a random digraph on $n$ vertices, $D(n,\text{Prob}(\text{arc})=p)$ and $D(n,\text{number of arcs}=m)$ are studied. In 1990, Karp for $D(n,p)$ and independently T. Łuczak for $D(n,m=cn)$ proved that for $c>1$, with probability tending to 1, there is an unique strong component of size of order $n$. Karp showed, in fact, that the giant component has likely size asymptotic to $nθ^2$, where $θ=θ(c)$ is the unique positive root of $1-θ=e^{-c θ}$. In this paper we prove that, for both random digraphs, the joint distribution of the number of vertices and number of arcs in the giant strong component is asymptotically Gaussian with the same mean vector $n\boldsymbolμ(c)$, $\boldsymbolμ(c):=(θ^2, cθ^2)$ and two distinct $2\times 2$ covariance matrices, $n\mathbf{B}(c)$ and $n[\mathbf{B}(c)+c (\boldsymbolμ'(c))^T (\boldsymbolμ'(c)))]$. To this end, we introduce and analyze a randomized deletion process which determines the directed $(1,1)$-core, the maximal digraph with minimum in-degree and out-degree at least 1. This $(1,1)$-core contains all non-trivial strong components. However, we show that the likely numbers of peripheral vertices and arcs in the $(1,1)$-core, those outside the largest strong component, are of log-polynomial order, thus dwarfed by anticipated fluctuations, on the scale of $n^{1/2}$, of the giant component parameters. By approximating the likely realization of the deletion algorithm with a deterministic trajectory, we obtain our main result via exponential supermartingales and Fourier-based techniques.

The quiver Hecke algebra $R$ can be also understood as a generalization of the affine Hecke algebra of type $A$ in the context of the quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality by the results of Kang, Kashiwara and Kim. On the other hand, it is well-known that the Auslander-Reiten(AR) quivers $Γ_Q$ of finite simply-laced types have a deep relation with the positive roots systems of the corresponding types. In this paper, we present explicit combinatorial descriptions for the AR-quivers $Γ_Q$ of finite type $A$. Using the combinatorial descriptions, we can investigate relations between finite dimensional module categories over the quantum affine algebra $U'_q(A_n^{(i)})$ $(i=1,2)$ and finite dimensional graded module categories over the quiver Hecke algebra $R_{A_n}$ associated to $A_n$ through the generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality functor.
The number of complete exceptional sequences for a Dynkin algebra

We consider Dynkin algebras, these are the hereditary artin algebras of finite representation type. The indecomposable modules for a Dynkin algebra correspond bijectively to the positive roots of a Dynkin diagram. Given a Dynkin algebra with n simple modules, a complete exceptional sequence is a sequence M_1,..., M_n of indecomposable modules such that Hom(M_i,M_j) = 0 = Ext(M_i,M_j) for i > j. The aim of this paper is to determine the number of complete exceptional sequences for any Dynkin algebra.
There are direct connections between the representation theory of a Dynkin algebra A and the lattice L of non-crossing partitions of the same Dynkin type: As Ingalls and Thomas have shown, the lattice of the thick subcategories of mod A can be identified with L. Hubery and Krause have pointed out that this identification provides a bijection between the complete exceptional sequences for A and the maximal chains in L. Thus, our calculations may also be considered as a categorification of results concerning non-crossing partitions.
The root posets and their rich antichains
Let $Δ$ be a (connected) Dynkin diagram of rank $n\ge 2$ and $Φ_+ = Φ_+(Δ)$ the corresponding root poset (it consists of all positive roots with respect to a fixed root basis). The width of $Φ_+$ is $n$. We will show that $Φ_+$ is "conical": it is the disjoint union of $n$ solid chains.
The rich antichains in $Φ_+$ are the antichains of cardinality $n-1$. It is well known that the number of rich antichains is equal to the cardinality of $Φ_+$. The set $\mathcal R(Δ)$ of rich antichains in $Φ_+$ can itself be considered as a poset which is quite similar, but not always isomorphic, to $Φ_+$.
We will show that there always exists a unique rich antichain $A$ such that any rich antichain is contained in the ideal generated by $A$. For $Δ\neq \Bbb E_6$ all roots in $A$ have the same length, namely $e_2$, where $e_1 \le e_2 \le \dots \le e_n$ are the exponents of $Δ.$ For $Δ= \Bbb E_6$, the antichain $A$ consists of four roots of length $e_2 = 4$ and one root of length $5$.

A Weyl arrangement is the arrangement defined by the root system of a finite Weyl group. When a set of positive roots is an ideal in the root poset, we call the corresponding arrangement an ideal subarrangement. Our main theorem asserts that any ideal subarrangement is a free arrangement and that its exponents are given by the dual partition of the height distribution, which was conjectured by Sommers-Tymoczko. In particular, when an ideal subarrangement is equal to the entire Weyl arrangement, our main theorem yields the celebrated formula by Shapiro, Steinberg, Kostant, and Macdonald. Our proof of the main theorem heavily depends on the theory of free arrangements and thus greatly differs from the earlier proofs of the formula.

We give combinatorial descriptions of the restrictions to T-fixed points of the classes of structure sheaves of Schubert varieties in the T-equivariant K-theory of Grassmannians and of maximal isotropic Grassmannians of orthogonal and symplectic types. We also give formulas, based on these descriptions, for the Hilbert series and Hilbert polynomials at T-fixed points of the corresponding Schubert varieties. These descriptions and formulas are given in terms of two equivalent combinatorial models: excited Young diagrams and set-valued tableaux. The restriction fomulas are positive, in that for a Schubert variety of codimension d, the formula equals (-1)^d times a sum, with nonnegative coefficients, of monomials in the expressions (e^{-α}-1), as αruns over the positive roots. In types A_n and C_n the restriction formulas had been proved earlier by [Kreiman 05], [Kreiman 06] by a different method. In type A_n, the formula for the Hilbert series had been proved earlier by [Li-Yong 12]. The method of this paper, which relies on a restriction formula of [Graham 02] and [Willems 06], is based on the method used by [Ikeda-Naruse 09] to obtain the analogous formulas in equivariant cohomology. The formulas we give differ from the K-theoretic restriction formulas given by [Ikeda-Naruse 11], which use different versions of excited Young diagrams and set-valued tableaux. We also give Hilbert series and Hilbert polynomial formulas which are valid for Schubert varieties in any cominuscule flag variety, in terms of the 0-Hecke algebra.

We present two simple descriptions of the denominator vectors of the cluster variables of a cluster algebra of finite type, with respect to any initial cluster seed: one in terms of the compatibility degrees between almost positive roots defined by S. Fomin and A. Zelevinsky, and the other in terms of the root function of a certain subword complex. These descriptions only rely on linear algebra. They provide two simple proofs of the known fact that the denominator vector of any non-initial cluster variable with respect to any initial cluster seed has non-negative entries and is different from zero.
Root polytope and partitions
Given a crystallographic reduced root system and an element v of the lattice generated by the roots we study the minimum number |v|, called the length of v, of roots needed to express v as sum of roots. This number is related to the linear functionals presenting the convex hull of the roots; the map v --> |v| turns out to be piecewise quasi-linear with quasi-linearity domains the cones over the facets of this convex hull. In order to show this relation we investigate the integral closure of the monoid generated by the roots in a facet. We study also the positive lenght, i.e. the minimum number of positive roots needed to write an element, and we prove that the two notions of length coincide for type A and C.

We study the root polytope $\mathcal P_Φ$ of a finite irreducible crystallographic root system $Φ$ using its relation with the abelian ideals of a Borel subalgebra of a simple Lie algebra with root system $Φ$. We determine the hyperplane arrangement corresponding to the faces of codimension 2 of $\mathcal P_Φ$ and analyze its relation with the facets of $\mathcal P_Φ$. For $Φ$ of type $A_n$ or $C_n$, we show that the orbits of some special subsets of abelian ideals under the action of the Weyl group parametrize a triangulation of $\mathcal P_Φ$. We show that this triangulation restricts to a triangulation of the positive root polytope $\mathcal P_Φ^+$.

Let $g$ be a simple Lie algebra and $Ab$ the poset of non-trivial abelian ideals of a fixed Borel subalgebra of $g$. In 2003 (IMRN, no.35, 1889--1913), we constructed a partition of $Ab$ into the subposets $Ab_μ$, parameterised by the long positive roots of $g$, and established some properties of these subposets. In this note, we show that this partition is compatible with intersections, relate it to the Kostant-Peterson parameterisation of abelian ideals and to the centralisers of abelian ideals. We also prove that the poset of positive roots of $g$ is a join-semilattice.
