The slack data of the recording tableaux in the quantum Littlewood-Richardson map determine its inverse: some applications
We introduce the slack of a recording tableau in the quantum Littlewood-Richardson (LR) map and show that it inherits the needed data from LR-Sundaram tableaux to define the inverse of the quantum LR map. Notably this enriched slack information packs the suitable reverse Schensted column insertion routes to compute the inverse. The slack data is then applied to $\mathfrak{k}$-highest symplectic tableaux.
The recording tableaux of the quantum Littlewood-Richardson map and the orthogonal transpose symmetry map
Recently Watanabe has given an algorithm to compute a bijection, that he calls (quantum) Littlewood-Richardson (LR) map, between semi-standard Young tableaux of shape a partition with at most $2n$ parts and pairs of tableaux consisting of a symplectic tableau with shape a partition with at most $n$ parts, and a recording tableau of skew-shape given by the two previous shapes. The recording tableaux in that algorithm are shown to be equinumerous to Littlewood-Richardson-Sundaram tableaux whose injectivity is shown combinatorially while the surjectivity is concluded via representation theory of a quantum symmetric pair of type AII. Henceforth, the algorithm to compute the quantum LR map provides a new branching model for the branching multiplicities from $GL_{2n}(C)$ to $Sp_{2n}(C)$. Here, as morally suggested by Watanabe, one provides a combinatorial proof of the surjectivity of the quantum LR map which in turn exhibits the restriction of the LR orthogonal transpose symmetry map to LR-Sundaram tableaux.

We provide a new branching rule from the general linear group $GL_{2n}(\mathbb{C})$ to the symplectic group $Sp_{2n}(\mathbb{C})$ by establishing a simple algorithm which gives rise to a bijection from the set of semistandard tableaux of a fixed shape to a disjoint union of several copies of sets of symplectic tableaux of various shapes. The algorithm arises from representation theory of a quantum symmetric pair of type $A\mathrm{II}_{2n-1}$, which is a $q$-analogue of the classical symmetric pair $(\mathfrak{gl}_{2n}(\mathbb{C}), \mathfrak{sp}_{2n}(\mathbb{C}))$.

We give a cyclic sieving phenomenon for symplectic $λ$-tableaux $SP(λ,2m)$, where $λ$ is a partition of an odd integer $n$ and $gcd(m,p)=1$ for any odd prime $p\leq n$. We use the crystal structure on Kashiwara-Nakashima symplectic tableaux to get a cyclic sieving action as the product $σ$ of simple reflections in the Weyl group. The cyclic sieving polynomial is the $q$-anologue of the hook-content formula for symplectic tableaux. More generally, we give a CSP for symplectic skew tableaux with analogous conditions on the shape and a cyclic group action that rotates tableaux weights in a way motivated by the $σ$-action.
$P$-strict promotion and $B$-bounded rowmotion, with applications to tableaux of many flavors

We define P-strict labelings for a finite poset P as a generalization of semistandard Young tableaux and show that promotion on these objects is in equivariant bijection with a toggle action on B-bounded Q-partitions of an associated poset Q. In many nice cases, this toggle action is conjugate to rowmotion. We apply this result to flagged tableaux, Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns, and symplectic tableaux, obtaining new cyclic sieving and homomesy conjectures. We also show P-strict promotion can be equivalently defined using Bender-Knuth and jeu de taquin perspectives.

We consider discretisations of the Macdonald--Mehta integrals from the theory of finite reflection groups. For the classical groups, $\mathrm{A}_{r-1}$, $\mathrm{B}_r$ and $\mathrm{D}_r$, we provide closed-form evaluations in those cases for which the Weyl denominators featuring in the summands have exponents $1$ and $2$. Our proofs for the exponent-$1$ cases rely on identities for classical group characters, while most of the formulas for the exponent-$2$ cases are derived from a transformation formula for elliptic hypergeometric series for the root system $\mathrm{BC}_r$. As a byproduct of our results, we obtain closed-form product formulas for the (ordinary and signed) enumeration of orthogonal and symplectic tableaux contained in a box.

We prove the conjecture of Falikman--Friedland--Loewy on the parity of the degrees of projective varieties of $n\times n$ complex symmetric matrices of rank at most $k$.
We also characterize the parity of the degrees of projective varieties of $n\times n$ complex skew symmetric matrices of rank at most $2p$.
We give recursive relations which determine the parity of the degrees of projective varieties of $m\times n$ complex matrices of rank at most $k$.
In the case the degrees of these varieties are odd, we characterize the minimal dimensions of subspaces of $n\times n$ skew symmetric real matrices and of $m\times n$ real matrices containing a nonzero matrix of rank at most $k$.
The parity questions studied here are also of combinatorial interest since they concern the parity of the number of plane partitions contained in a given box, on the one hand, and the parity of the number of symplectic tableaux of rectangular shape, on the other hand.
A two-dimensional pictorial presentation of Berele's insertion algorithm for symplectic tableaux

We give the first two-dimensional pictorial presentation of Berele's correspondence \cite{Berele}, an analogue of the Robinson-Schensted (R-S) correspondence \cite{Robinson, Schensted} for the symplectic group $Sp(2n, \Cpx )$. From the standpoint of representation theory, the R-S correspondence combinatorially describes the irreducible decomposition of the tensor powers of the natural representation of $GL(n,\Cpx)$. Berele's insertion algorithm gives the bijection that describes the irreducible decomposition of the tensor powers of the natural representation of $Sp(2n, \Cpx)$. Two-dimensional pictorial presentations of the R-S correspondence via local rules (first given by S. Fomin \cite{Fomin,FominGen}) and its many variants have proven very useful in understanding their properties and creating new generalizations. We hope our new presentation will be similarly useful.
