We present new constructions for perfect and odd perfect sequences over the quaternion group $Q_8$. In particular, we show for the first time that perfect and odd perfect quaternion sequences exist in all lengths $2^t$ for $t\geq0$. In doing so we disprove the quaternionic form of Mow's conjecture that the longest perfect $Q_8$-sequence that can be constructed from an orthogonal array construction is of length 64. Furthermore, we use a connection to combinatorial design theory to prove the existence of a new infinite class of Williamson sequences, showing that Williamson sequences of length $2^t n$ exist for all $t\geq0$ when Williamson sequences of odd length $n$ exist. Our constructions explain the abundance of Williamson sequences in lengths that are multiples of a large power of two.

Modular hyperbolas and bilinear forms of Kloosterman sums
In this paper we study incidences for hyperbolas in $\mathbf{F}_p$ and show how linear sum--product methods work for such curves. As an application we give a purely combinatorial proof of a nontrivial upper bound for bilinear forms of Kloosterman sums.

We apply the theory of unimodular random rooted graphs to study the metric geometry of large, finite, bounded degree graphs whose diameter is proportional to their volume. We prove that for a positive proportion of the vertices of such a graph, there exists a mesoscopic scale on which the graph looks like $\mathbb{R}$ in the sense that the rescaled ball is close to a line segment in the Gromov-Hausdorff metric.

Schur indices for noncommutative reality-based algebras with two nonreal basis elements
This article discusses the representation theory of noncommutative algebras reality-based algebras with positive degree map over their field of definition. When the standard basis contains exactly two nonreal elements, the main result expresses the noncommutative simple component as a generalized quaternion algebra over its field of definition. The field of real numbers will always be a splitting field for this algebra, but there are noncommutative table algebras of dimension $6$ with rational field of definition for which it is a division algebra. The approach has other applications, one of which shows noncommutative association scheme of rank $7$ must have at least three symmetric relations.
Skew product groups for monolithic groups
Skew morphisms, which generalise automorphisms for groups, provide a fundamental tool for the study of regular Cayley maps and, more generally, for finite groups with a complementary factorisation $G=BY$, where $Y$ is cyclic and core-free in $G$. In this paper, we classify all examples in which $B$ is monolithic (meaning that it has a unique minimal normal subgroup, and that subgroup is not abelian) and core-free in $G$. As a consequence, we obtain a classification of all proper skew morphisms of finite non-abelian simple groups.
Interpolation sets and nilsequences
To give positive answer to a question of Frantzikinakis, we study a class of subsets of $\mathbb{N}$, called interpolation sets, on which every bounded sequence can be extended to an almost periodic sequence on $\mathbb{N}$. Strzelecki has proved that lacunary sets are interpolation sets. We prove that sets that are denser than all lacunary sets cannot be interpolation sets. We also extend the notion of interpolation sets to nilsequences and show that the analogue to Frantzikinakis' question for arbitrary sequences is false.
The Littlewood-Offord Problem for Markov Chains
The celebrated Littlewood-Offord problem asks for an upper bound on the probability that the random variable $ε_1 v_1 + \cdots + ε_n v_n$ lies in the Euclidean unit ball, where $ε_1, \ldots, ε_n \in \{-1, 1\}$ are independent Rademacher random variables and $v_1, \ldots, v_n \in \mathbb{R}^d$ are fixed vectors of at least unit length. We extend many known results to the case that the $ε_i$ are obtained from a Markov chain, including the general bounds first shown by Erdős in the scalar case and Kleitman in the vector case, and also under the restriction that the $v_i$ are distinct integers due to Sárközy and Szemeredi. In all extensions, the upper bound includes an extra factor depending on the spectral gap. We also construct a pseudorandom generator for the Littlewood-Offord problem using similar techniques.
Improved bounds for the excluded-minor approximation of treedepth
Treedepth, a more restrictive graph width parameter than treewidth and pathwidth, plays a major role in the theory of sparse graph classes. We show that there exists a constant $C$ such that for every positive integers $a,b$ and a graph $G$, if the treedepth of $G$ is at least $Cab$, then the treewidth of $G$ is at least $a$ or $G$ contains a subcubic (i.e., of maximum degree at most $3$) tree of treedepth at least $b$ as a subgraph.
As a direct corollary, we obtain that every graph of treedepth $Ω(k^3)$ is either of treewidth at least $k$, contains a subdivision of full binary tree of depth $k$, or contains a path of length $2^k$. This improves the bound of $Ω(k^5 \log^2 k)$ of Kawarabayashi and Rossman [SODA 2018].
We also show an application of our techniques for approximation algorithms of treedepth: given a graph $G$ of treedepth $k$ and treewidth $t$, one can in polynomial time compute a treedepth decomposition of $G$ of width $\mathcal{O}(kt \log^{3/2} t)$. This improves upon a bound of $\mathcal{O}(kt^2 \log t)$ stemming from a tradeoff between known results.
The main technical ingredient in our result is a proof that every tree of treedepth $d$ contains a subcubic subtree of treedepth at least $d \cdot \log_3 ((1+\sqrt{5})/2)$.
A generalization of Steinberg theory and an exotic moment map

For a reductive group $G$, Steinberg established a map from the Weyl group to the set of nilpotent $G$-orbits by using moment maps on double flag varieties. In particular, in the case of the general linear group, it provides a geometric interpretation of the Robinson-Schensted correspondence between permutations and pairs of standard tableaux of the same shape.
We extend Steinberg's approach to the case of a symmetric pair $(G,K)$ to obtain two different maps, namely a \emph{generalized Steinberg map} and an \emph{exotic moment map}.
Although the framework is general, in this paper we focus on the pair $(G,K) = (\mathrm{GL}_{2n}(\mathbb{C}), \mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{C}) \times \mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{C}))$. Then the generalized Steinberg map is a map from \emph{partial} permutations to the pairs of nilpotent orbits in $ \mathfrak{gl}_n(\mathbb{C}) $. It involves a generalization of the classical Robinson--Schensted correspondence to the case of partial permutations.
The other map, the exotic moment map, establishes a combinatorial map from the set of partial permutations to that of signed Young diagrams, i.e., the set of nilpotent $K$-orbits in the Cartan space $(\mathrm{Lie}(G)/\mathrm{Lie}(K))^* $.
We explain the geometric background of the theory and combinatorial algorithms which produce the above mentioned maps.
On Erdős-Ginzburg-Ziv inverse theorems for Dihedral and Dicyclic groups
Let $G$ be a finite group and exp$(G)$ = lcm$\{$ord$(g)$$\mid$$g \in G \}$. A finite unordered sequence of terms from $G$, where repetition is allowed, is a product-one sequence if its terms can be ordered such that their product equals the identity element of $G$. We denote by $\mathsf s (G)$ (or $\mathsf E (G)$ respectively) the smallest integer $\ell$ such that every sequence of length at least $\ell$ has a product-one subsequence of length $\exp (G)$ (or $|G|$ respectively). In this paper, we provide the exact values of $\mathsf s (G)$ and $\mathsf E (G)$ for Dihedral and Dicyclic groups and we provide explicit characterizations of all sequences of length $\mathsf s (G) - 1$ (or $\mathsf E (G) - 1$ respectively) having no product-one subsequence of length $\exp (G)$ (or $|G|$ respectively).
Signless Laplacian eigenvalue problems of Nordhaus-Gaddum type
Let $G$ be a graph of order $n$, and let $q_1(G)\geq q_2(G)\geq\cdots\geq q_n(G)$ denote the signless Laplacian eigenvalues of $G$. Ashraf and Tayfeh-Rezaie [Electron. J. Combin. 21 (3) (2014) \#P3.6] showed that $q_1(G)+q_1(\overline{G})\leq 3n-4$, with equality holding if and only if $G$ or $\overline{G}$ is the star $K_{1,n-1}$. In this paper, we discuss the following problem: for $n\geq6$, does $q_2(G)+q_2(\overline{G})\leq 2n-5$ always hold? We provide positive answers to this problem for the graphs with disconnected complements and the bipartite graphs, and determine the graphs attaining the bound. Moreover, we show that $q_2(G)+q_2(\overline{G})\geq n-2$, and the extremal graphs are also characterized.

If we parameterize the positions of all vertices of a given graph in the plane such that distances between adjacent vertices are fixed, we obtain a moving graph. An L-linkage is a realization of a moving graph in 3D-space, by representing edges using horizontal bars and vertices by vertical sticks. Vertical sticks are parallel revolute joints, while horizontal bars are links connecting them. We give a sufficient condition for a moving graph to have a collision-free L-linkage. Furthermore, we provide an algorithm guiding the construction of such a linkage when the moving graph fulfills the sufficient condition, via computing a height function for the edges (horizontal bars). In particular, we prove that any Dixon-1 moving graph has a collision-free L-linkage and no Dixon-2 moving graphs have collision-free L-linkages, where Dixon-1 and Dixon-2 moving graphs are two classic families of moving graphs.

The orientation morphism $Or(\cdot)(P)\colon γ\mapsto\dot{P}$ associates differential-polynomial flows $\dot{P}=Q(P)$ on spaces of bi-vectors $P$ on finite-dimensional affine manifolds $N^d$ with (sums of) finite unoriented graphs $γ$ with ordered sets of edges and without multiple edges and one-cycles. It is known that $d$-cocycles $\boldsymbolγ\in\ker d$ with respect to the vertex-expanding differential $d=[{\bullet}\!\!{-}\!{-}\!\!{\bullet},\cdot]$ are mapped by $Or$ to Poisson cocycles $Q(P)\in\ker\,[\![ P,{\cdot}]\!]$, that is, to infinitesimal symmetries of Poisson bi-vectors $P$. The formula of orientation morphism $Or$ was expressed in terms of the edge orderings as well as parity-odd and parity-even derivations on the odd cotangent bundle $ΠT^* N^d$ over any $d$-dimensional affine real Poisson manifold $N^d$. We express this formula in terms of (un)oriented graphs themselves, i.e. without explicit reference to supermathematics on $ΠT^* N^d$.
The asymptotic value of graph energy for random graphs with degree-based weights
In this paper, we investigate the energy of a weighted random graph $G_p(f)$ in $G_{n,p}(f)$, in which each edge $ij$ takes the weight $f(d_i,d_j)$, where $d_v$ is a random variable, the degree of vertex $v$ in the random graph $G_p$ of the Erdös--Rényi random graph model $G_{n,p}$, and $f$ is a symmetric real function on two variables. Suppose $|f(d_i,d_j)|\leq C n^m$ for some constants $C, m>0$, and $f((1+o(1))np,(1+o(1))np)=(1+o(1))f(np,np)$. Then, for almost all graphs $G_p(f)$ in $G_{n,p}(f)$, the energy of $G_p(f)$ is $(1+o(1))f(np,np)\frac{8}{3π}\sqrt{p(1-p)}\cdot n^{3/2},$ where $p\in(0,1)$ is any fixed and independent of $n$. Consequently, with this one basket we can get the asymptotic values of various kinds of graph energies of chemical use, such as Randić energy, ABC energy, and energies of random matrices obtained from various kinds of degree-based chemical indices.
Basis shape loci and the positive Grassmannian
A basis shape locus takes as input data a zero/nonzero pattern in an $n \times k$ matrix, which is equivalent to a presentation of a transversal matroid. The locus is defined as the set of points in the Grassmannian of $k$ planes in $\mathbb{R}^n$ which are the row space of a matrix with the prescribed zero/nonzero pattern. We show that this locus depends only on the transversal matroid, not on the specific presentation. When a transversal matroid is a positroid, the closure of its basis shape locus is the associated positroid variety. We give a sufficient, and conjecturally necessary, condition for when a transversal matroid is a positroid. Finally, we discus applications to two programs for computing scattering amplitudes in $\mathcal{N} = 4$ SYM theory: one trying to prove that projections of certain positroid cells triangulate the amplituhedron, and another using Wilson loop diagrams.
A hierarchy of Palm measures for determinantal point processes with gamma kernels

The gamma kernels are a family of projection kernels $K^{(z,z')}=K^{(z,z')}(x,y)$ on a doubly infinite $1$-dimensional lattice. They are expressed through Euler's gamma function and depend on two continuous parameters $z,z'$. The gamma kernels initially arose from a model of random partitions via a limit transition. On the other hand, these kernels are closely related to unitarizable representations of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{su}(1,1)$. Every gamma kernel $K^{(z,z')}$ serves as a correlation kernel for a determinantal measure $M^{(z,z')}$, which lives on the space of infinite point configurations on the lattice.
We examine chains of kernels of the form $$ \ldots, K^{(z-1,z'-1)}, \; K^{(z,z')},\; K^{(z+1,z'+1)}, \ldots, $$ and establish the following hierarchical relations inside any such chain:
Given $(z,z')$, the kernel $K^{(z,z')}$ is a one-dimensional perturbation of (a twisting of) the kernel $K^{(z+1,z'+1)}$, and the one-point Palm distributions for the measure $M^{(z,z')}$ are absolutely continuous with respect to $M^{(z+1,z'+1)}$.
We also explicitly compute the corresponding Radon-Nikodým derivatives and show that they are given by certain normalized multiplicative functionals.
Choice functions in the intersection of matroids
We prove a common generalization of two results, one on rainbow fractional matchings and one on rainbow sets in the intersection of two matroids: Given $d = r \lceil k \rceil - r + 1$ functions of size (=sum of values) $k$ that are all independent in each of $r$ given matroids, there exists a rainbow set of $supp(f_i)$, $i \leq d$, supporting a function with the same properties.

We prove a common generalization of the fact that the weighted number of maximal chains in the strong Bruhat order on the symmetric group is ${n \choose 2}!$ for both the code weights and the Chevalley weights. We also define weights which give a one-parameter family of strong order analogues of Macdonald's reduced word identity for Schubert polynomials.
