We show that the Hrushovski-\fraisse limit of certain classes of trees lead to strictly superstable theories of various U-ranks. In fact, for each $ α\inω+1\backslash\{0\} $ we introduce a strictly superstable theory of U-rank $ α. $ Furthermore, we show that these theories are decidable and pseudofinite.
A bound for crystallographic arrangements
A crystallographic arrangement is a set of linear hyperplanes satisfying a certain integrality property and decomposing the space into simplicial cones. Crystallographic arrangements were completely classified in a series of papers by Heckenberger and the author. However, this classification is based on two computer proofs checking millions of cases. In the present paper, we prove without using a computer that, up to equivalence, there are only finitely many irreducible crystallographic arrangements in each rank greater than two.
Tropical ideals do not realise all Bergman fans
Every tropical ideal in the sense of Maclagan-Rincón has an associated tropical variety, a finite polyhedral complex equipped with positive integral weights on its maximal cells. This leads to the realisability question, ubiquitous in tropical geometry, of which weighted polyhedral complexes arise in this manner. Using work of Las Vergnas on the non-existence of tensor products of matroids, we prove that there is no tropical ideal whose variety is the Bergman fan of the direct sum of the Vámos matroid and the uniform matroid of rank two on three elements, and in which all maximal cones have weight one.

We construct a polynomial-time algorithm which given a graph $Γ$ finds the full set of non-equivalent Cayley representations of $Γ$ over the group $D\cong C_p\times C_{p^k}$, where $p\in\{2,3\}$ and $k\geq 1$. This result implies that the recognition and the isomorphism problems for Cayley graphs over $D$ can be solved in polynomial time.

A finite group is said to be weakly separable if every algebraic isomorphism between two $S$-rings over this group is induced by a combinatorial isomorphism. In the paper we prove that every abelian weakly separable group belongs to one of several explicitly given families only.
Coalescence under Preimage Constraints
The primary goal of this document is to record the asymptotic effects that preimage constraints impose upon the sizes of the iterated images of a random function. Specifically, given a subset $\mathcal{P}\subseteq \mathbb{Z}_{\geq 0}$ and a finite set $S$ of size $n$, choose a function uniformly from the set of functions $f:S\rightarrow S$ that satisfy the condition that $|f^{-1}(x)|\in\mathcal{P}$ for each $x\in S$, and ask what $|f^k(S)|$ looks like as $n$ goes to infinity. The robust theory of singularity analysis allows one to completely answer this question if one accepts that $0\in\mathcal{P}$, that $\mathcal{P}$ contains an element bigger than 1, and that $\gcd(\mathcal{P})=1$; only the third of these conditions is a meaningful restriction. The secondary goal of this paper is to record much of the background necessary to achieve the primary goal.

The $(P, ω)$-partition generating function of a labeled poset $(P, ω)$ is a quasisymmetric function enumerating certain order-preserving maps from $P$ to $\mathbb{Z}^+$. We study the expansion of this generating function in the recently introduced type 1 quasisymmetric power sum basis $\{ψ_α\}$. Using this expansion, we show that connected, naturally labeled posets have irreducible $P$-partition generating functions. We also show that series-parallel posets are uniquely determined by their partition generating functions. We conclude by giving a combinatorial interpretation for the coefficients of the $ψ_α$-expansion of the $(P, ω)$-partition generating function akin to the Murnaghan-Nakayama rule.
$t$-Pebbling in $k$-connected diameter two graphs
Graph pebbling models the transportation of consumable resources. As two pebbles move across an edge, one reaches its destination while the other is consumed. The $t$-pebbling number is the smallest integer $m$ so that any initially distributed supply of $m$ pebbles can place $t$ pebbles on any target vertex via pebbling moves. The 1-pebbling number of diameter two graphs is well-studied. Here we investigate the $t$-pebbling number of diameter two graphs under the lense of connectivity.
From DNF compression to sunflower theorems via regularity
The sunflower conjecture is one of the most well-known open problems in combinatorics. It has several applications in theoretical computer science, one of which is DNF compression, due to Gopalan, Meka and Reingold [Computational Complexity 2013]. In this paper, we show that improved bounds for DNF compression imply improved bounds for the sunflower conjecture, which is the reverse direction of [Computational Complexity 2013]. The main approach is based on regularity of set systems and a structure-vs-pseudorandomness approach to the sunflower conjecture.
Four-Valent Oriented Graphs of Biquasiprimitive Type
Let $\mathcal{OG}(4)$ denote the family of all graph-group pairs $(Γ,G)$ where $Γ$ is 4-valent, connected and $G$-oriented ($G$-half-arc-transitive). Using a novel application of the structure theorem for biquasiprimitive permutation groups of the second author, we produce a description of all pairs $(Γ, G) \in\mathcal{OG}(4)$ for which every nontrivial normal subgroup of $G$ has at most two orbits on the vertices of $Γ$. In particular we show that $G$ has a unique minimal normal subgroup $N$ and that $N \cong T^k$ for a simple group $T$ and $k\in \{1,2,4,8\}$. This provides a crucial step towards a general description of the long-studied family $\mathcal{OG}(4)$ in terms of a normal quotient reduction. We also give several methods for constructing pairs $(Γ, G)$ of this type and provide many new infinite families of examples, covering each of the possible structures of the normal subgroup $N$.
Concatenating bipartite graphs
Let $x,y\in(0,1]$ and let $A,B,C$ be disjoint nonempty subsets of a graph $G$, where every vertex in $A$ has at least $x|B|$ neighbours in $B$, and every vertex in $B$ has at least $y|C|$ neighbours in $C$. We denote by $φ(x,y)$ the maximum $z$ such that, in all such graphs $G$, there is a vertex $v$ in $C$ that is joined to at least $z|A|$ vertices in $A$ by two-edge paths. The function $φ$ is interesting, and we investigate some of its properties. For instance, we show that it is symmetric in $x$ and $y$, and that it has a discontinuity at $x=y=1/k$ for all integers $k>1$. We raise a number of questions and conjectures.
Conflict-free (vertex)-connection numbers of graphs with small diameters
A path in an(a) edge(vertex)-colored graph is called a conflict-free path if there exists a color used on only one of its edges(vertices). An(A) edge(vertex)-colored graph is called conflict-free (vertex-)connected if for each pair of distinct vertices, there is a conflict-free path connecting them. For a connected graph $G$, the conflict-free (vertex-)connection number of $G$, denoted by $cfc(G)(\text{or}~vcfc(G))$, is defined as the smallest number of colors that are required to make $G$ conflict-free (vertex-)connected. In this paper, we first give the exact value $cfc(T)$ for any tree $T$ with diameters $2,3$ and $4$. Based on this result, the conflict-free connection number is determined for any graph $G$ with $diam(G)\leq 4$ except for those graphs $G$ with diameter $4$ and $h(G)=2$. In this case, we give some graphs with conflict-free connection number $2$ and $3$, respectively. For the conflict-free vertex-connection number, the exact value $vcfc(G)$ is determined for any graph $G$ with $diam(G)\leq 4$.

We study the contagion game with the bilingual option on infinite regular graphs introduced and modeled mathematically in [N. Immorlica et al. (2007)]. In the reference, Immorlica et al. studied conditions for an innovation to become epidemic over infinite regular trees, the grid, and the infinite thick-lines in terms of payoff enhancement and cost of the bilingual option. We improved their results by showing that the class of infinite regular trees make an innovation least advantageous to become epidemic considering the whole class of infinite regular graphs. Moreover, we show that any infinite $Δ$-regular graph containing the infinite $Δ$-tree structure is also least advantageous to be epidemic. Also, we construct an infinite family of infinite $Δ$-regular graphs (including the thick $Δ$-line) that is the most advantageous to be epidemic as known so far.
Discovering and Proving Infinite Pochhammer Sum Identities
We consider nested sums involving the Pochhammer symbol at infinity and rewrite them in terms of a small set of constants, such as powers of $π,$ $\log(2)$ or zeta values. In order to perform these simplifications, we view the series as specializations of generating series. For these generating series, we derive integral representations in terms of root-valued iterated integrals or directly in terms of cyclotomic harmonic polylogarithms. Using substitutions, we express the root-valued iterated integrals as cyclotomic harmonic polylogarithms. Finally, by applying known relations among the cyclotomic harmonic polylogarithms, we derive expressions in terms of several constants. The methods are implemented in the computer algebra package HarmonicSums.
On the Area Requirements of Planar Straight-Line Orthogonal Drawings of Ternary Trees
In this paper, we study the area requirements of planar straight-line orthogonal drawings of ternary trees. We prove that every ternary tree admits such a drawing in sub-quadratic area. Further, we present upper bounds, the outcomes of an experimental evaluation, and a conjecture on the area requirements of planar straight-line orthogonal drawings of complete ternary trees. Finally, we present a polynomial lower bound on the length of the minimum side of any planar straight-line orthogonal drawing of a complete ternary tree.

We propose a family of non-locality unique games for 2 parties based on a square lattice on an arbitrary surface. We show that, due to structural similarities with error correction codes of Kitaev for fault tolerant quantum computation, the games have classical values computable in polynomial time for $d=2$ measurement outcomes. By representing games in their graph form, for arbitrary $d$ and underlying surface we provide their classification into equivalence classes with respect to relabeling of measurement outcomes, for a selected set of permutations which define the winning conditions. A case study of games with periodic boundary conditions is presented in order to verify their impact on classical and quantum values of the family of games. It suggests that quantum values suffer independently from presence of different winning conditions that can be imposed due to periodicity, as long as no local restrictions are in place.
Hecke algebras of simply-laced type with independent parameters
We study the (complex) Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}_S(\mathbf{q})$ of a finite simply-laced Coxeter system $(W,S)$ with independent parameters $\mathbf{q} \in \left( \mathbb{C} \setminus\{\text{roots of unity}\} \right)^S$. We construct its irreducible representations and projective indecomposable representations. We obtain the quiver of this algebra and determine when it is of finite representation type. We provide decomposition formulas for induced and restricted representations between the algebra $\mathcal{H}_S(\mathbf{q})$ and the algebra $\mathcal{H}_R(\mathbf{q}|_R)$ with $R\subseteq S$. Our results demonstrate an interesting combination of the representation theory of finite Coxeter groups and their 0-Hecke algebras, including a two-sided duality between the induced and restricted representations.

Let $1\leq k \leq n$ and let $X_n = (x_1, \dots, x_n)$ be a list of $n$ variables. The {\em Boolean product polynomial} $B_{n,k}(X_n)$ is the product of the linear forms $\sum_{i \in S} x_i$ where $S$ ranges over all $k$-element subsets of $\{1, 2, \dots, n\}$. We prove that Boolean product polynomials are Schur positive. We do this via a new method of proving Schur positivity using vector bundles and a symmetric function operation we call {\em Chern plethysm}. This gives a geometric method for producing a vast array of Schur positive polynomials whose Schur positivity lacks (at present) a combinatorial or representation theoretic proof. We relate the polynomials $B_{n,k}(X_n)$ for certain $k$ to other combinatorial objects including derangements, positroids, alternating sign matrices, and reverse flagged fillings of a partition shape. We also relate $B_{n,n-1}(X_n)$ to a bigraded action of the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$ on a divergence free quotient of superspace.
On simplicial arrangements in $\mathbb{P}^3(\mathbb{R})$ with splitting polynomial
In this paper, we study simplicial hyperplane arrangements in real projective $3$-space. We give a necessary condition for the characteristic polynomial to have only real roots, valid also for non-simplicial arrangements. As application, we obtain combinatorial inequalities which are satisfied for arrangements with splitting polynomial. This allows us to prove that there are only finitely many different isomorphism classes of simply laced simplicial arrangements whose characteristic polynomials split over $\mathbb{R}$. We also provide an updated version of a catalogue published by Grünbaum and Shephard and review some conjectures of theirs.
Hypergeometric identities arising from the elephant random walk
A probabilistic approach is provided to establish new hypergeometric identities. It is based on the calculation of moments of the limiting distribution of the position of the elephant random walk in the superdiffusive regime.
