The hyperdeteminants considered here are the simplest analogues of determinants for higher rank tensors which have been defined by Cayley, and apply only to tensors with an even number of indices. We have shown in a previous article that the calculation of certain multidimensional integrals could be reduced to the evaluation of hyperdeterminants of Hankel type. Here, we carry out this computation by purely algebraic means in the cases of Selberg's and Aomoto's integrals.

In the classical theory of formal languages, finite state automata allow to recognize the words of a rational subset of $Σ^*$ where $Σ$ is a set of symbols (or the alphabet). Now, given a semiring $(\K,+,.)$, one can construct $\K$-subsets of $Σ^*$ in the sense of Eilenberg, that are alternatively called noncommutative formal power series for which a framework very similar to language theory has been constructed Particular noncommutative formal power series, which are called rational series, are the behaviour of a family of weighted automata (or $\K$-automata). In order to get an efficient encoding, it may be interesting to point out one of them with the smallest number of states. Minimization processes of $\K$-automata already exist for $\K$ being: {\bf a)} a field, {\bf b)} a noncommutative field, {\bf c)} a PID . When $\K$ is the bolean semiring, such a minimization process (with isomorphisms of minimal objects) is known within the category of deterministic automata. Minimal automata have been proved to be isomorphic in cases {\bf (a)} and {\bf (b)}. But the proof given for (b) is not constructive. In fact, it lays on the existence of a basis for a submodule of $\K^n$. Here we give an independent algorithm which reproves this fact and an example of a pair of nonisomorphic minimal automata. Moreover, we examine the possibility of extending {\bf (c)}. To this end, we provide an {\em Effective Minimization Process} (or {\em EMP}) which can be used for more general sets of coefficients.

We present here theoretical results coming from the implementation of the package called AMULT (automata with multiplicities in several noncommutative variables). We show that classical formulas are ``almost every time'' optimal, characterize the dual laws preserving rationality and also relators that are compatible with these laws.

In this paper we first give a lower bound on multiplicities for Buchsbaum homogeneous $k$-algebras $A$ in terms of the dimension $d$, the codimension $c$, the initial degree $q$, and the length of the local cohomology modules of $A$. Next, we introduce the notion of Buchsbaum $k$-algebras with minimal multiplicity of degree $q$, and give several characterizations for those rings. In particular, we will show that those algebras have linear free resolutions. Further, we will give many examples of those algebras.
Congruences Compatible with the Shuffle Product

This article is devoted to the study of monoids which can be endowed with a shuffle product with coefficients in a semiring. We show that, when the multiplicities do not belong to a ring with prime characteristic, such a monoid is a monoid of traces. When the characteristic is prime, we give a decomposition of the congruences $\equiv$ (or relators $R$) such that $A^*/\_\equiv=< A; R>$ admits a shuffle product. This decomposition involves only addition of primitive elements to the successive quotients. To end with, we study the compatibility with Magnus transformation and examine the case of congruences which are homogeneous for some weight function. The existence of such a weight function is also showed for congruences of depth one.
Transitive factorizations of free partially commutative monoids and Lie algebras

Let $\M(A,θ)$ be a free partially commutative monoid. We give here a necessary and sufficient condition on a subalphabet $B\subset A$ such that the right factor of a bisection $\M(A,θ)=\M(B,θ\_B).T$ be also partially commutative free. This extends strictly the (classical) elimination theory on partial commutations and allows to construct new factorizations of $\M(A,θ)$ and associated bases of $L\_K(A,θ)$.
Superregular Matrices and the Construction of Convolutional Codes having a Maximum Distance Profile
Superregular matrices are a class of lower triangular Toeplitz matrices that arise in the context of constructing convolutional codes having a maximum distance profile. These matrices are characterized by the property that no submatrix has a zero determinant unless it is trivially zero due to the lower triangular structure. In this paper, we discuss how superregular matrices may be used to construct codes having a maximum distance profile. We also introduce group actions that preserve the superregularity property and present an upper bound on the minimum size a finite field must have in order that a superregular matrix of a given size can exist over that field.

Let G be a permutation group acting on {1,...,n}, and < be any admissible term order on the polynomial ring K[x_1,...,x_n]. We prove that the invariant ring K[x_1,...,x_n]^G of G has a finite SAGBI basis if, and only if, G is generated by reflections.

We generalize a theorem of Nymann that the density of points in Z^d that are visible from the origin is 1/zeta(d), where zeta(a) is the Riemann zeta function 1/1^a + 1/2^a + 1/3^a + ...
A subset S of Z^d is called primitive if it is a Z-basis for the lattice composed of the integer points in the R-span of S, or, equivalently, if S can be completed to a Z-basis of Z^d. We prove that if m points in Z^d are chosen uniformly and independently at random from a large box, then as the size of the box goes to infinity, the probability that the points form a primitive set approaches 1/[ζ(d)ζ(d-1)...zeta(d-m+1)].
Representation theories of some towers of algebras related to the symmetric groups and their Hecke algebras
We study the representation theory of three towers of algebras which are related to the symmetric groups and their Hecke algebras. The first one is constructed as the algebras generated simultaneously by the elementary transpositions and the elementary sorting operators acting on permutations. The two others are the monoid algebras of nondecreasing functions and nondecreasing parking functions. For these three towers, we describe the structure of simple and indecomposable projective modules, together with the Cartan map. The Grothendieck algebras and coalgebras given respectively by the induction product and the restriction coproduct are also given explicitly. This yields some new interpretations of the classical bases of quasi-symmetric and noncommutative symmetric functions as well as some new bases.
On braxtopes, a class of generalized simplices
In a d-simplex every facet is a (d-1)-simplex. We consider as generalized simplices other combinatorial classes of polytopes, all of whose facets are in the class. Cubes and multiplexes are two such classes of generalized simplices. In this paper we study a new class, braxtopes, which arise as the faces of periodically-cyclic Gale polytopes. We give a geometric construction for these polytopes and various combinatorial properties.

Chu has recently shown that the Abel lemma on summations by parts can serve as the underlying relation for Bailey's ${}_6ψ_6$ bilateral summation formula. In other words, the Abel lemma spells out the telescoping nature of the ${}_6ψ_6$ sum. We present a systematic approach to compute Abel pairs for bilateral and unilateral basic hypergeometric summation formulas by using the $q$-Gosper algorithm. It is demonstrated that Abel pairs can be derived from Gosper pairs. This approach applies to many classical summation formulas.

We consider certain modules of the symmetric groups whose basis elements are called tabloids. Some of these modules are isomorphic to subspaces of the cohomology rings of subvarieties of flag varieties as modules of the symmetric groups. We give a combinatorial description for some weighted sums of their characters, i.e., we introduce combinatorial objects called $(ρ,\Ll)$-tabloids and rewrite weighted sums of characters as the numbers of these combinatorial objects. We also consider the meaning of these combinatorial objects, i.e., we construct a correspondence between $(ρ,\Ll)$-tabloids and tabloids whose images are eigenvectors of the action of an element of cycle type $ρ$ in quotient modules.
Kazhdan's Property (T) for Graphs
D. A. Kahzdan first put forth property (T) in relation to the study of discrete subgroups of Lie groups of finite co-volume. Through a combinatorial approach, we define an analogue of property (T) for regular graphs. We then prove the basic combinatorial and metric properties of Kazhdan groups in this context. In particular, we use our methods to construct infinite families of expanders as in the classical case. Finally, we consider the combinatorial analogue of the group theoretic property $(τ)$ and prove its basic properties.
Properties of the Generalized Zig-Zag Product of Graphs
The operation of zig-zag products of graphs is the analogue of the semidirect product of groups. Using this observation, we present a categorical description of zig-zag products in order to generalize the construction for the category of simple graphs. Also, we examine the covering properties of zig-zag products and we utilize these results to estimate their spectral invariants in general. In addition, we provide specific spectral analysis for some such products.
