Maximal green sequences are important objects in representation theory, cluster algebras, and string theory. The two fundamental questions about maximal green sequences are whether a given algebra admits such sequences and, if so, does it admit only finitely many. We study maximal green sequences in the case of string algebras and give sufficient conditions on the algebra that ensure an affirmative answer to these questions.

Exceptional sequences are important sequences of quiver representations in the study of representation theory of algebras. They are also closely related to the theory of cluster algebras and the combinatorics of Coxeter groups. We combinatorially classify exceptional sequences of a family of type D Dynkin quivers, and we show how our model for exceptional sequences connects to the combinatorics of type D noncrossing partitions.

We introduce a class of posets, which includes both ribbon posets (skew shapes) and $d$-complete posets, such that their number of linear extensions is given by a determinant of a matrix whose entries are products of hook lengths. We also give $q$-analogues of this determinantal formula in terms of the major index and inversion statistics. As applications, we give families of tree posets whose numbers of linear extensions are given by generalizations of Euler numbers, we draw relations to Naruse-Okada's positive formulas for the number of linear extensions of skew $d$-complete posets, and we give polynomiality results analogous to those of descent polynomials by Diaz-López, Harris, Insko, Omar, and Sagan.
Minuscule reverse plane partitions via quiver representations
The Hillman--Grassl correspondence is a well-known bijection between multisets of rim hooks of a partition shape $λ$ and reverse plane partitions of $λ$. We use the tools of quiver representations to generalize Hillman--Grassl in type $A$ and to define an analogue in all minuscule types. This is an extended abstract prepared for FPSAC 2019 based on arXiv:1812.08345, emphasizing its combinatorial aspects.
Leading terms of $\text{SL}_3$ web invariants
We use Khovanov and Kuperberg's web growth rules to identify the minimal term in the invariant associated to an $\text{SL}_3$ web diagram, with respect to a particular term order.
Minuscule reverse plane partitions via quiver representations
A nilpotent endomorphism of a quiver representation induces a linear transformation on the vector space at each vertex. Generically among all nilpotent endomorphisms, there is a well-defined Jordan form for these linear transformations, which is an interesting new invariant of a quiver representation. If $Q$ is a Dynkin quiver and $m$ is a minuscule vertex, we show that representations consisting of direct sums of indecomposable representations all including $m$ in their support, the category of which we denote by $\mathcal{C}_{Q,m}$, are determined up to isomorphism by this invariant. We use this invariant to define a bijection from isomorphism classes of representations in $\mathcal{C}_{Q,m}$ to reverse plane partitions whose shape is the minuscule poset corresponding to $Q$ and $m$. By relating the piecewise-linear promotion action on reverse plane partitions to Auslander-Reiten translation in the derived category, we give a uniform proof that the order of promotion equals the Coxeter number. In type $A_n$, we show that special cases of our bijection include the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth and Hillman-Grassl correspondences.

We consider the closure space on the set of strings of a gentle algebra of finite representation type. Palu, Pilaud, and Plamondon proved that the collection of all biclosed sets of strings forms a lattice, and moreover, that this lattice is congruence-uniform. Many interesting examples of finite congruence-uniform lattices may be represented as the lattice of torsion classes of an associative algebra. We introduce a generalization, the lattice of torsion shadows, and we prove that the lattice of biclosed sets of strings is isomorphic to a lattice of torsion shadows.
Finite congruence-uniform lattices admit an alternate partial order known as the shard intersection order. In many cases, the shard intersection order of a congruence-uniform lattice is isomorphic to a lattice of wide subcategories of an associative algebra. Analogous to torsion shadows, we introduce wide shadows, and prove that the shard intersection order of the lattice of biclosed sets is isomorphic to a lattice of wide shadows.

Semistable subcategories were introduced in the context of Mumford's GIT and interpreted by King in terms of representation theory of finite dimensional algebras. Ingalls and Thomas later showed that for finite dimensional algebras of Dynkin and affine type, the poset of semistable subcategories is isomorphic to the corresponding poset of noncrossing partitions. We show that semistable subcategories defined by tiling algebras, introduced by Coelho Sim{õ}es and Parsons, are in bijection with noncrossing tree partitions, introduced by the second author and McConville. Moreover, this bijection defines an isomorphism of the posets on these objects. Our work recovers that of Ingalls and Thomas in Dynkin type $A$.

R. Sulzgruber's rim hook insertion and the Hillman-Grassl correspondence are two distinct bijections between the reverse plane partitions of a fixed partition shape and multisets of rim-hooks of the same partition shape. It is known that Hillman-Grassl may be equivalently defined using the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence, and we show the analogous result for Sulzgruber's insertion. We refer to our description of Sulzgruber's insertion as diagonal RSK. As a consequence of this equivalence, we show that Sulzgruber's map from multisets of rim hooks to reverse plane partitions can be expressed in terms of Greene-Kleitman invariants.

The canonical join complex of a semidistributive lattice is a simplicial complex whose faces are canonical join representations of elements of the semidistributive lattice. We give a combinatorial classification of the faces of the canonical join complex of the lattice of biclosed sets of segments supported by a tree, as introduced by the third author and McConville. We also use our classification to describe the elements of the shard intersection order of the lattice of biclosed sets. As a consequence, we prove that this shard intersection order is a lattice.
Enumerative properties of Grid-Associahedra
We continue the study of the nonkissing complex that was introduced by Petersen, Pylyavskyy, and Speyer and was studied lattice-theoretically by the second author. We introduce a theory of Grid-Catalan combinatorics, given the initial data of a nonkissing complex, and show how this theory parallels the well-known Coxeter-Catalan combinatorics. In particular, we present analogues of Chapoton's F-triangle, H-triangle, and M-triangle and give combinatorial, lattice-theoretic, and geometric interpretations of the objects defining these. In our Grid-Catalan setting, we prove that Chapoton's F-triangle and H-triangle identity holds, and we conjecture that Chapoton's F-triangle and M-triangle identity also holds. As an application, we obtain a bijection between the facets of the nonkissing complex and of the noncrossing complex, which provides a partial solution to an open problem of Santos, Stump, and Welker.

Maximal green sequences are important objects in representation theory, cluster algebras, and string theory. It is an open problem to determine what lengths are achieved by the maximal green sequences of a quiver. We combine the combinatorics of surface triangulations and the basics of scattering diagrams to address this problem. Our main result is a formula for the length of minimal length maximal green sequences of quivers defined by triangulations of an annulus or a punctured disk.

In this paper, we study the lattice properties of posets of torsion pairs in the module category of a family of representation-finite gentle algebras called tiling algebras, introduced by Coelho Simoes and Parsons. We present a combinatorial model for torsion pairs using polyogonal subdivisions of a convex polygon. We use this model and the lattice theory to classify 2-term simple-minded collections in the bounded derived category of the corresponding tiling algebra. As a consequence, we obtain a characterization of c-matrices for any quiver mutation-equivalent to a type A Dynkin quiver.
Our model is developed using the dual tree of a polygonal subdivision. Given such a tree, we introduce a simplicial complex of noncrossing geodesics supported by the tree which we call the noncrossing complex. The facets of the noncrossing complex may be given the structure of an oriented flip graph. Special cases of the oriented flip graphs that may be expressed in this way include the Tamari order, type A Cambrian orders, oriented exchange graphs for quivers mutation-equivalent to a path quiver. We prove that the oriented flip graph of any noncrossing complex is a polygonal, congruence-uniform lattice. To do so, we express the oriented flip graph as a lattice quotient of a lattice of biclosed sets.
The facets of the noncrossing complex have an alternate ordering known as the shard intersection order. We prove that this shard intersection order is isomorphic to a lattice of noncrossing tree partitions. The oriented flip graph inherits a cyclic action from its congruence-uniform structure. On noncrossing tree partitions, this cyclic action generalizes the classical Kreweras complementation on noncrossing set partitions. We show that the data of a noncrossing tree partition and its Kreweras complement is equivalent to a 2-term simple-minded collection of the associated tiling algebra.

The exchange graph of a 2-acyclic quiver is the graph of mutation-equivalent quivers whose edges correspond to mutations. When the quiver admits a nondegenerate Jacobi-finite potential, the exchange graph admits a natural acyclic orientation called the oriented exchange graph, as shown by Brüstle and Yang. The oriented exchange graph is isomorphic to the Hasse diagram of the poset of functorially finite torsion classes of a certain finite dimensional algebra. We prove that lattices of torsion classes are semidistributive lattices, and we use this result to conclude that oriented exchange graphs with finitely many elements are semidistributive lattices. Furthermore, if the quiver is mutation-equivalent to a type A Dynkin quiver or is an oriented cycle, then the oriented exchange graph is a lattice quotient of a lattice of biclosed subcategories of modules over the cluster-tilted algebra, generalizing Reading's Cambrian lattices in type A. We also apply our results to address a conjecture of Brüstle, Dupont, and Pérotin on the lengths of maximal green sequences.

Exceptional sequences are certain ordered sequences of quiver representations. We introduce a class of objects called strand diagrams and use this model to classify exceptional sequences of representations of a quiver whose underlying graph is a type $A_n$ Dynkin diagram. We also use variations of this model to classify c-matrices of such quivers, to interpret exceptional sequences as linear extensions of posets, and to give a simple bijection between exceptional sequences and certain chains in the lattice of noncrossing partitions. This work extends a classification of exceptional sequences for the linearly-ordered quiver obtained in an earlier paper by the first and third authors.

Exceptional sequences are certain ordered sequences of quiver representations. We use noncrossing edge-labeled trees in a disk with boundary vertices (expanding on T. Araya's work) to classify exceptional sequences of representations of Q, the linearly-ordered quiver with n vertices. We also show how to use variations of this model to classify c-matrices of Q, to interpret exceptional sequences as linear extensions, and to give a simple bijection between exceptional sequences and certain chains in the lattice of noncrossing partitions. In the case of c-matrices, we also give an interpretation of c-matrix mutation in terms of our noncrossing trees with directed edges.

Given a framed quiver, i.e. one with a frozen vertex associated to each mutable vertex, there is a concept of green mutation, as introduced by Keller. Maximal sequences of such mutations, known as maximal green sequences, are important in representation theory and physics as they have numerous applications, including the computations of spectrums of BPS states, Donaldson-Thomas invariants, tilting of hearts in the derived category, and quantum dilogarithm identities. In this paper, we study such sequences and construct a maximal green sequence for every quiver mutation-equivalent to an orientation of a type A Dynkin diagram.
