An explicit formula for Koornwinder moments and Rains' positivity conjecture
The asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) is an important particle model with deep connections to orthogonal polynomials. Motivated by this connection, Corteel and Williams introduced the Koornwinder moments $M^{Z}_λ$ at $ t=q $, which generalize the moments of Askey--Wilson polynomials. They showed that the partition function of the two-species ASEP is equal to $M^{Z}_λ$ for a one-row partition $ λ$.
In this paper, we investigate a conjecture of Rains on the positivity of the minimal numerator of the Koornwinder moment $M^{Z}_λ$. We derive the first explicit formula for this moment, thereby obtaining a precise formulation of the conjecture by determining the minimal denominator of $M^{Z}_λ$. We also propose a generalization of the conjecture for the more general Koornwinder moments $M^{Z}_{λ,μ}$ indexed by two partitions at special parameter values.
We prove the generalized Rains' conjecture in two special cases: $(ξ,q)=(1,0)$ and $(ξ,q)=(1,1)$. For $(ξ,q)=(1,0)$, we construct a lattice path model and obtain a combinatorial formula for $M^{Z}_{λ,μ}$ in terms of non-intersecting lattice paths. For $(ξ,q)=(1,1)$, we establish an explicit product formula for $M^{Z}_{λ,μ}$ and give a combinatorial interpretation using lecture hall tableaux.
Shuffle theorem for torus link homology
We prove that the symmetric function $e_{(1^k)}[-MX^{m,n}] \cdot 1$, arising from the elliptic Hall algebra, equals the generating function for $k$-tuples of cyclic $(m,n)$-parking functions. This result resolves a conjecture of Gorsky--Mazin--Vazirani and Wilson, establishing that the elliptic Hall algebra governs the Khovanov--Rozansky homology of torus links $T(km,kn)$. Consequently, this provides an affirmative answer to a question of Galashin and Lam in the torus link case. As a key step in the proof, we develop a rational analogue of the Shareshian--Wachs involution originally introduced to prove the symmetry property of the chromatic quasisymmetric functions.
Refinement of Hikita's $e$-positivity theorem via Abreu--Nigro's $g$-functions and restricted modular law
We study the symmetric functions \( g_{\mm,k}(x;q) \), introduced by
Abreu and Nigro for a Hessenberg function \( \mm \) and a positive
integer \( k \), which refine the chromatic symmetric function.
Building on Hikita's recent breakthrough on the Stanley--Stembridge
conjecture, we prove the \( e \)-positivity of \( g_{\mm,k}(x;1) \),
refining Hikita's result. We also provide a Schur expansion of the
sum \( \sum_{k=1}^n e_k(x) g_{\mm,n-k}(x;q) \) in terms of
\( P \)-tableaux with 1 in the upper-left corner. We introduce a
restricted version of the modular law as our main tool. Then, we
show that any function satisfying the restricted modular law is
determined by its values on disjoint unions of path graphs.
Lusztig $q$-weight multiplicities and Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals
Lusztig $q$-weight multiplicities extend the Kostka-Foulkes polynomials to a broader range of Lie types. In this work, we investigate these multiplicities through the framework of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals. Specifically, for type $C$ with dominant weights and type $B$ with dominant spin weights, we present a combinatorial formula for Lusztig $q$-weight multiplicities in terms of energy functions of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals, generalizing the charge statistic on semistandard Young tableaux for type $A$. Additionally, we introduce level-restricted $q$-weight multiplicities for nonexceptional types, and prove positivity by providing their combinatorial formulas.
Extending the science fiction and the Loehr--Warrington formula
We introduce the Macdonald piece polynomial $\operatorname{I}_{μ,λ,k}[X;q,t]$, which is a vast generalization of the Macdonald intersection polynomial in the science fiction conjecture by Bergeron and Garsia. We demonstrate a remarkable connection between $\operatorname{I}_{μ,λ,k}$, $\nabla s_λ$, and the Loehr--Warrington formula $\operatorname{LW}_λ$, thereby obtaining the Loehr--Warrington conjecture as a corollary. To connect $\operatorname{I}_{μ,λ,k}$ and $\nabla s_λ$, we employ the plethystic formula for the Macdonald polynomials of Garsia--Haiman--Tesler, and to connect $\operatorname{I}_{μ,λ,k}$ and $\operatorname{LW}_λ$, we use our new findings on the combinatorics of $P$-tableaux together with the column exchange rule. We also present an extension of the science fiction conjecture and the Macdonald positivity by exploiting $\operatorname{I}_{μ,λ,k}$.

We initiate the study of the Macdonald intersection polynomials $\operatorname{I}_{μ^{(1)},\dots,μ^{(k)}}[X;q,t]$, which are indexed by $k$-tuples of partitions $μ^{(1)},\dots,μ^{(k)}$. These polynomials are conjectured to be equal to the bigraded Frobenius characteristic of the intersection of Garsia-Haiman modules, as proposed by the science fiction conjecture of Bergeron and Garsia. In this work, we establish the vanishing identity and the shape independence of the Macdonald intersection polynomials. Additionally, we unveil a remarkable connection between $\operatorname{I}_{μ^{(1)},\dots,μ^{(k)}}$ and the character $\nabla e_{k-1}$ of diagonal coinvariant algebra by employing the plethystic formula for the Macdonald polynomials of Garsia--Haiman--Tesler. Furthermore, we establish a connection between $\operatorname{I}_{μ^{(1)},\dots,μ^{(k)}}$ and the shuffle formula $D_{k-1}[X;q,t]$, utilizing novel combinatorial tools such as the column exchange rule, a new fermionic formula for the shuffle formula, and the lightning bolt formula for Macdonald intersection polynomials. Notably, our findings provide a new proof for the shuffle theorem.

For a partition $ν$, let $λ,μ\subseteq ν$ be two distinct partitions such that $|ν/λ|=|ν/μ|=1$. Butler conjectured that the divided difference $\operatorname{I}_{λ,μ}[X;q,t]=(T_λ\widetilde{H}_μ[X;q,t]-T_μ\widetilde{H}_λ[X;q,t])/(T_λ-T_μ)$ of modified Macdonald polynomials of two partitions $λ$ and $μ$ is Schur positive. By introducing a new LLT equivalence called column exchange rule, we give a combinatorial formula for $\operatorname{I}_{λ,μ}[X;q,t]$, which is a positive monomial expansion. We also prove Butler's conjecture for some special cases.

Equivariant Ehrhart theory generalizes the study of lattice point enumeration to also account for the symmetries of a polytope under a linear group action. We present a catalogue of techniques with applications in this field, including zonotopal decompositions, symmetric triangulations, combinatorial interpretation of the $h^\ast$-polynomial, and certificates for the (non)existence of invariant non-degenerate hypersurfaces. We apply these methods to several families of examples including hypersimplices, orbit polytopes, and graphic zonotopes, expanding the library of polytopes for which their equivariant Ehrhart theory is known.

If a sequence indexed by nonnegative integers satisfies a linear recurrence without constant terms, one can extend the indices of the sequence to negative integers using the recurrence. Recently, Cigler and Krattenthaler showed that the negative version of the number of bounded Dyck paths is the number of bounded alternating sequences. In this paper we provide two methods to compute the negative versions of sequences related to moments of orthogonal polynomials. We give a combinatorial model for the negative version of the number of bounded Motzkin paths. We also prove two conjectures of Cigler and Krattenthaler on reciprocity between determinants.

Consider a lattice of n sites arranged around a ring, with the $n$ sites occupied by particles of weights $\{1,2,\dots,n\}$; the possible arrangements of particles in sites thus corresponds to the $n!$ permutations in $S_n$. The inhomogeneous totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (or TASEP) is a Markov chain on the set of permutations, in which two adjacent particles of weights $i<j$ swap places at rate $x_i - y_{n+1-j}$ if the particle of weight $j$ is to the right of the particle of weight $i$. (Otherwise nothing happens.) In the case that $y_i=0$ for all $i$, the stationary distribution was conjecturally linked to Schubert polynomials by Lam-Williams, and explicit formulas for steady state probabilities were subsequently given in terms of multiline queues by Ayyer-Linusson and Arita-Mallick. In the case of general $y_i$, Cantini showed that $n$ of the $n!$ states have probabilities proportional to products of double Schubert polynomials. In this paper we introduce the class of evil-avoiding permutations, which are the permutations avoiding the patterns $2413, 4132, 4213$ and $3214$. We show that there are $\frac{(2+\sqrt{2})^{n-1}+(2-\sqrt{2})^{n-1}}{2}$ evil-avoiding permutations in $S_n$, and for each evil-avoiding permutation $w$, we give an explicit formula for the steady state probability $ψ_w$ as a product of double Schubert polynomials. We also show that the Schubert polynomials that arise in these formulas are flagged Schur functions, and give a bijection in this case between multiline queues and semistandard Young tableaux.

Sharing Nim and Enumeration of Nim Characteristics
In this paper, we introduce and examine a variant of the game of Nim (Sharing Nim), where players can either remove or transfer objects from 1 pile to another. The only restriction is that players may not transfer objects from a pile of greater size to a pile of smaller size. We also find new methods of enumerating characteristics of Nim and Sharing Nim, including the number of zero nim positions.
Combinatorial formulas for the coefficients of the Al-Salam-Chihara polynomials
The Al-Salam-Chihara polynomials are an important family of orthogonal polynomials in one variable $x$ depending on 3 parameters $α$, $β$ and $q$. They are closely connected to a model from statistical mechanics called the partially asymmetric simple exclusion process (PASEP) and they can be obtained as a specialization of the Askey-Wilson polynomials. We give two different combinatorial formulas for the coefficients of the (transformed) Al-Salam-Chihara polynomials. Our formulas make manifest the fact that the coefficients are polynomials in $α$, $β$ and $q$ with positive coefficients.

We give a combinatorial formula for the Ehrhart $h^*$-vector of the hypersimplex. In particular, we show that $h^{*}_{d}(Δ_{k,n})$ is the number of hypersimplicial decorated ordered set partitions of type $(k,n)$ with winding number $d$, thereby proving a conjecture of Nick Early. We do this by proving a more general conjecture of Nick Early on the Ehrhart $h^*$-vector of a generic cross-section of a hypercube.
