Minors of two-connected graphs of large path-width
Let $P$ be a graph with a vertex $v$ such that $P\backslash v$ is a forest, and let $Q$ be an outerplanar graph. We prove that there exists a number $p=p(P,Q)$ such that every 2-connected graph of path-width at least $p$ has a minor isomorphic to $P$ or $Q$. This result answers a question of Seymour and implies a conjecture of Marshall and Wood. The proof is based on a new property of tree-decompositions.
On the saturation number of graphs
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a simple connected graph. A matching $M$ in a graph $G$ is a collection of edges of $G$ such that no two edges from $M$ share a vertex. A matching $M$ is maximal if it cannot be extended to a larger matching in $G$. The cardinality of any smallest maximal matching in $G$ is the saturation number of $G$ and is denoted by $s(G)$. In this paper we study the saturation number of the corona product of two specific graphs. We also consider some graphs with certain constructions that are of importance in chemistry and study their saturation number.

A set of vertices $S$ resolves a graph if every vertex is uniquely determined by its vector of distances to the vertices in $S$. The metric dimension of a graph is the minimum cardinality of a resolving set of the graph. Fix a connected graph $G$ on $q \ge 2$ vertices, and let $M$ be the distance matrix of $G$. We prove that if there exists $w \in \mathbb{Z}^q$ such that $\sum_i w_i = 0$ and the vector $Mw$, after sorting its coordinates, is an arithmetic progression with nonzero common difference, then the metric dimension of the Cartesian product of $n$ copies of $G$ is $(2+o(1))n/\log_q n$. In the special case that $G$ is a complete graph, our results close the gap between the lower bound attributed to Erdős and Rényi and the upper bounds developed subsequently by Lindström, Chvátal, Kabatianski, Lebedev and Thorpe.
Circuit Preserving Edge Maps II

The results obtained in this paper grew from an attempt to generalize the main theorem of [1]. There it was shown that any circuit injection (a 1-1 onto edge map f such that if C is a circuit then f(C) is a circuit) from a 3-connected, not necessarily finite graph G onto a graph H is induced by a vertex isomorphism, where H is assumed to not have any isolated vertices. In the present article we examine the situation when the 1-1 condition is dropped (Chapter 1). An interesting result then is that the theorem remains true for finite (3-connected) graphs G but not for infinite G. In Chapter 2 we retain the 1-1 condition but allow the image of f to be first an arbitrary matroid and second a binary matroid. An interesting result then is the following. Let G be a graph of even order. Then the statement "no nontrivial map f:=>M exists, where M is a binary matroid" is equivalent to "G is Hamiltonian". If G is a graph of odd order, then the statement "no nontrivial map f:G=>M exists, where M is a binary matroid" is equivalent to "G is almost Hamiltonian", where we define a graph G of order n to be almost Hamiltonian if every subset of vertices of order n-1 is contained in some circuit of G.

The Colouring problem asks whether the vertices of a graph can be coloured with at most $k$ colours for a given integer $k$ in such a way that no two adjacent vertices receive the same colour. A graph is $(H_1,H_2)$-free if it has no induced subgraph isomorphic to $H_1$ or $H_2$. A connected graph $H_1$ is almost classified if Colouring on $(H_1,H_2)$-free graphs is known to be polynomial-time solvable or NP-complete for all but finitely many connected graphs $H_2$. We show that every connected graph $H_1$ apart from the claw $K_{1,3}$ and the $5$-vertex path $P_5$ is almost classified. We also prove a number of new hardness results for Colouring on $(2P_2,H)$-free graphs. This enables us to list all graphs $H$ for which the complexity of Colouring is open on $(2P_2,H)$-free graphs and all graphs $H$ for which the complexity of Colouring is open on $(P_5,H)$-free graphs. In fact we show that these two lists coincide. Moreover, we show that the complexities of Colouring for $(2P_2,H)$-free graphs and for $(P_5,H)$-free graphs are the same for all known cases.
Nonlocal Games and Quantum Permutation Groups

We present a strong connection between quantum information and quantum permutation groups. Specifically, we define a notion of quantum isomorphisms of graphs based on quantum automorphisms from the theory of quantum groups, and then show that this is equivalent to the previously defined notion of quantum isomorphism corresponding to perfect quantum strategies to the isomorphism game. Moreover, we show that two connected graphs $X$ and $Y$ are quantum isomorphic if and only if there exists $x \in V(X)$ and $y \in V(Y)$ that are in the same orbit of the quantum automorphism group of the disjoint union of $X$ and $Y$. This connection links quantum groups to the more concrete notion of nonlocal games and physically observable quantum behaviours. We exploit this link by using ideas and results from quantum information in order to prove new results about quantum automorphism groups, and about quantum permutation groups more generally. In particular, we show that asymptotically almost surely all graphs have trivial quantum automorphism group. Furthermore, we use examples of quantum isomorphic graphs from previous work to construct an infinite family of graphs which are quantum vertex transitive but fail to be vertex transitive, answering a question from the quantum group literature.
Our main tool for proving these results is the introduction of orbits and orbitals (orbits on ordered pairs) of quantum permutation groups. We show that the orbitals of a quantum permutation group form a coherent configuration/algebra, a notion from the field of algebraic graph theory. We then prove that the elements of this quantum orbital algebra are exactly the matrices that commute with the magic unitary defining the quantum group. We furthermore show that quantum isomorphic graphs admit an isomorphism of their quantum orbital algebras which maps the adjacency matrix of one graph to that of the other.
Non-branching tree-decompositions
We prove that if a graph has a tree-decomposition of width at most w, then it has a tree-decomposition of width at most w with certain desirable properties. We will use this result in a subsequent paper to show that every 2-connected graph of large path-width has a minor isomorphic to either a large tree with a vertex attached to every vertex of the tree or a large outerplanar graph.
The full chracterazation of the graphs with a L-eigenvalue of multiplicity $n-3$
Let $\mathcal{G}(n,k)$ be the set of connected graphs of order $n$ with one of the Laplacian eigenvalue having multiplicity $k$. It is well known that $\mathcal{G}(n,n-1)=\{K_n\}$. The graphs of $\mathcal{G}(n,n-2)$ are determined by Das, and the graphs of $\mathcal{G}(n,n-3)$ with four distinct Laplacian eigenvalues are determined by Mohammadian et al. In this paper, we determine the graphs of $\mathcal{G}(n,n-3)$ with three distinct Laplacian eigenvalues, and then the full characterization of the graphs in $\mathcal{G}(n,n-3)$ is completed.

In this paper, we extend two classical results about the density of subgraphs of hypercubes to subgraphs $G$ of Cartesian products $G_1\times\cdots\times G_m$ of arbitrary connected graphs. Namely, we show that $\frac{|E(G)|}{|V(G)|}\le \lceil 2\max\{ \text{dens}(G_1),\ldots,\text{dens}(G_m)\} \rceil\log|V(G)|$, where $\text{dens}(H)$ is the maximum ratio $\frac{|E(H')|}{|V(H')|}$ over all subgraphs $H'$ of $H$. We introduce the notions of VC-dimension $\text{VC-dim}(G)$ and VC-density $\text{VC-dens}(G)$ of a subgraph $G$ of a Cartesian product $G_1\times\cdots\times G_m$, generalizing the classical Vapnik-Chervonenkis dimension of set-families (viewed as subgraphs of hypercubes). We prove that if $G_1,\ldots,G_m$ belong to the class ${\mathcal G}(H)$ of all finite connected graphs not containing a given graph $H$ as a minor, then for any subgraph $G$ of $G_1\times\cdots\times G_m$ a sharper inequality $\frac{|E(G)|}{|V(G)|}\le \text{VC-dim}(G)α(H)$ holds, where $α(H)$ is the density of the graphs from ${\mathcal G}(H)$. We refine and sharpen those two results to several specific graph classes. We also derive upper bounds (some of them polylogarithmic) for the size of adjacency labeling schemes of subgraphs of Cartesian products.
Spanning closed walks with bounded maximum degrees of graphs on surfaces
Gao and Richter (1994) showed that every $3$-connected graph which embeds on the plane or the projective plane has a spanning closed walk meeting each vertex at most $2$ times. Brunet, Ellingham, Gao, Metzlar, and Richter (1995) extended this result to the torus and Klein bottle. Sanders and Zhao (2001) obtained a sharp result for higher surfaces by proving that every $3$-connected graph embeddable on a surface with Euler characteristic $χ\le -46$ admits a spanning closed walk meeting each vertex at most $\lceil \frac{6-2χ}{3}\rceil$ times. In this paper, we develop these results to the remaining surfaces with Euler characteristic $χ\le 0$.

In this paper, we show that a uniform hypergraph $\mathcal{G}$ is connected if and only if one of its inverse Perron values is larger than $0$. We give some bounds on the bipartition width, isoperimetric number and eccentricities of $\mathcal{G}$ in terms of inverse Perron values. By using the inverse Perron values, we give an estimation of the edge connectivity of a $2$-design, and determine the explicit edge connectivity of a symmetric design. Moreover, relations between the inverse Perron values and resistance distance of a connected graph are presented.

Let $G$ be a connected graph in which almost all vertices have linear degrees and let $T$ be a uniform spanning tree of $G$. For any fixed rooted tree $F$ of height $r$ we compute the asymptotic density of vertices $v$ for which the $r$-ball around $v$ in $T$ is isomorphic to $F$. We deduce from this that if $\{G_n\}$ is a sequence of such graphs converging to a graphon $W$, then the uniform spanning tree of $G_n$ locally converges to a multi-type branching process defined in terms of $W$.
As an application, we prove that in a graph with linear minimum degree, with high probability, the density of leaves in a uniform spanning tree is at least $1/e-o(1)$, the density of vertices of degree $2$ is at most $1/e+o(1)$ and the density of vertices of degree $k\geq 3$ is at most ${(k-2)^{k-2} \over (k-1)! e^{k-2}} + o(1)$. These bounds are sharp.

It is proved that any one-to-one edge map f from a 3-connected graph G onto a graph H, G and H possibly infinite, satisfying f(C) is a circuit in H whenever C is a circuit in G is induced by a vertex isomorphism. This generalizes a result of Whitney which hypothesizes f(C) is a circuit in H if and only if C is a circuit in G.

Let ${\mathcal G}$ be an infinite family of connected graphs and let $k$ be a positive integer. We say that $k$ is ${\it forcing}$ for ${\mathcal G}$ if for all $G \in {\mathcal G}$ but finitely many, the following holds. Any $\{-1,1\}$-weighing of the edges of $G$ for which all connected subgraphs on $k$ edges are positively weighted implies that $G$ is positively weighted. Otherwise, we say that it is ${\it weakly~forcing}$ for ${\mathcal G}$ if any such weighing implies that the weight of $G$ is bounded from below by a constant. Otherwise we say that $k$ ${\it collapses}$ for ${\mathcal G}$.
We classify $k$ for some of the most prominent classes of graphs, such as all connected graphs, all connected graphs with a given maximum degree and all connected graphs with a given average degree.
Domination structure for number three
From a research of several recent papers, in the first part, we are concerned with domination number in cubic graphs and give a sufficient condition of Reed's conjecture. In the second part, from a perspective, we study the structure of a minimum dominating set in 3-connected graphs. It is derived from a collection of cycles with length 0 mod 3.

In a connected graph G, the distance between two vertices of G is the length of a shortest path between these vertices. The eccentricity of a vertex u in G is the largest distance between u and any other vertex of G. The total-eccentricity index τ(G) is the sum of eccentricities of all vertices of G. In this paper, we find extremal trees, unicyclic and bicyclic graphs with respect to total-eccentricity index. Moreover, we find extremal conjugated trees with respect to total-eccentricity index.

An edge set $S$ of a connected graph $G$ is called an anti-Kekulé set if $G-S$ is connected and has no perfect matchings, where $G-S$ denotes the subgraph obtained by deleting all edges in $S$ from $G$. The anti-Kekulé number of a graph $G$, denoted by $ak(G)$, is the cardinality of a smallest anti-Kekulé set of $G$. It is NP-complete to find the smallest anti-Kekulé set of a graph. In this paper, we show that the anti-Kekulé number of a 2-connected cubic graph is either 3 or 4, and the anti-Kekulé number of a connected cubic bipartite graph is always equal to 4. Furthermore, a polynomial time algorithm is given to find all smallest anti-Kekulé sets of a connected cubic graph.
On k-Total Dominating Graphs
For a graph G, the k-total dominating graph D_{k}^{t}(G) is the graph whose vertices correspond to the total dominating sets of G that have cardinality at most k; two vertices of D_{k}^{t}(G) are adjacent if and only if the corresponding total dominating sets of G differ by either adding or deleting a single vertex. The graph D_{k}^{t}(G) is used to study the reconfiguration problem for total dominating sets: a total dominating set can be reconfigured to another by a sequence of single vertex additions and deletions, such that the intermediate sets of vertices at each step are total dominating sets, if and only if they are in the same component of D_{k}^{t}(G). Let d_{0}(G) be the smallest integer r such that D_{k}^{t}(G) is connected for all k greater than or equal to r. We investigate the realizability of graphs as total dominating graphs. For k the upper total domination number Γ_{t}(G), we show that any graph without isolated vertices is an induced subgraph of a graph G such that D_{k}^{t}(G) is connected. We show that d_{0}(G) lies between Γ_{t}(G) and n (inclusive) for any connected graph G of order n at least 3, characterize the graphs for which either bound is realized, and determine d_{0}(C_{n}) and d_{0}(P_{n}).
Packing coloring of Sierpiński-type graphs
The packing chromatic number $χ_ρ(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the smallest integer $k$ such that the vertex set of $G$ can be partitioned into sets $V_i$, $i\in \{1,\ldots,k\}$, where each $V_i$ is an $i$-packing. In this paper, we consider the packing chromatic number of several families of Sierpiński-type graphs. While it is known that this number is bounded from above by $8$ in the family of Sierpiński graphs with base $3$, we prove that it is unbounded in the families of Sierpiński graphs with bases greater than $3$. On the other hand, we prove that the packing chromatic number in the family of Sierpiński triangle graphs $ST^n_3$ is bounded from above by $31$. Furthermore, we establish or provide bounds for the packing chromatic numbers of generalized Sierpiński graphs $S^n_G$ with respect to all connected graphs $G$ of order 4.
L(t, 1)-Colouring of Graphs

One of the most famous applications of Graph Theory is in the field of Channel Assignment Problems. There are varieties of graph colouring concepts that are used for different requirements of frequency assignments in communication channels. We introduce here L(t, 1)-colouring of graphs. This has its foundation in T-colouring and L(p, q)-colouring. For a given finite set T including zero, an L(t, 1)-colouring of a graph G is an assignment of non-negative integers to the vertices of G such that the difference between the colours of adjacent vertices must not belong to the set T and the colours of vertices that are at distance two must be distinct. The variable t in L(t, 1) denotes the elements of the set T. For a graph G, the L(t, 1)-span of G is the minimum of the highest colour used to colour the vertices of a graph out of all the possible L(t, 1)-colourings. It is denoted by $λ_{t,1} (G)$. We study some properties of L(t, 1)-colouring. We also find upper bounds of $λ_{t,1} (G)$ of selected simple connected graphs.
