Recently, M.~Baker and N.~Bowler introduced the notion of matroids over hyperfields as a unifying theory of various generalizations of matroids. In this paper we generalize the notion of minors and direct sums from ordinary matroids to matroids over hyperfields. Using this we generalize the classical construction of matroid-minor Hopf algebras to the case of matroids over hyperfields.

In an earlier paper, the first two authors defined orientations on hypergraphs. Using this definition we provide an explicit bijection between acyclic orientations in hypergraphs and faces of hypergraphic polytopes. This allows us to obtain a geometric interpretation of the coefficients of the antipode map in a Hopf algebra of hypergraphs. This interpretation differs from similar ones for a different Hopf structure on hypergraphs provided recently by Aguiar and Ardila. Furthermore, making use of the tools and definitions developed here regarding orientations of hypergraphs we provide a characterization of hypergraphs giving rise to simple hypergraphic polytopes in terms of acyclic orientations of the hypergraph. In particular, we recover this fact for the nestohedra and the hyper-permutahedra, and prove it for generalized Pitman-Stanley polytopes as defined here.
Rigidity for the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions

We investigate the rigidity for the Hopf algebra ${\rm QSym}$ of quasisymmetric functions with respect to the monomial, the fundamental and the quasisymmetric Schur basis, respectively. By establishing some combinatorial properties of the posets of compositions arising from the analogous Pieri rules for quasisymmetric functions, we show that ${\rm QSym}$ is rigid as an algebra with respect to the quasisymmetric Schur basis, and rigid as a coalgebra with respect to the monomial and the quasisymmetric Schur basis, respectively. The natural actions of reversal, complement and transpose of the labelling compositions lead to some nontrivial graded (co)algebra automorphisms of ${\rm QSym}$. We prove that the linear maps induced by the three actions are precisely the only nontrivial graded algebra automorphisms that take the fundamental basis into itself. Furthermore, the complement map on the labels gives the unique nontrivial graded coalgebra automorphism preserving the fundamental basis, while the reversal map on the labels gives the unique nontrivial graded algebra automorphism preserving the monomial basis. Therefore, ${\rm QSym}$ is rigid as a Hopf algebra with respect to the monomial and the quasisymmetric Schur basis.

Rooted tree maps assign to an element of the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of rooted trees a linear map on the noncommutative polynomial algebra in two letters. Evaluated at any admissible word these maps induce linear relations between multiple zeta values. In this note we show that the derivation relations for multiple zeta values are contained in this class of linear relations.

Based on Hopf algebra of rooted trees introduced by Connes and Kreimer, we construct a class of linear maps on noncommutative polynomial algebra in two indeterminates, namely rooted tree maps. We also prove that their maps induce a class of relations among multiple zeta values.
An algebraic formulation of the locality principle in renormalisation

We study the mathematical structure underlying the concept of locality which lies at the heart of classical and quantum field theory, and develop a machinery used to preserve locality during the renormalisation procedure. Viewing renormalisation in the framework of Connes and Kreimer as the algebraic Birkhoff factorisation of characters on a Hopf algebra with values in a Rota-Baxter algebra, we build locality variants of these algebraic structures, leading to a locality variant of the algebraic Birkhoff factorisation. This provides an algebraic formulation of the conservation of locality while renormalising.
As an application in the context of the Euler-Maclaurin formula on cones, we renormalise the exponential generating function which sums over the lattice points in convex cones. For a suitable multivariate regularisation, renormalisation from the algebraic Birkhoff factorisation amounts to composition by a projection onto holomorphic multivariate functions.
Partition C*-algebras II - Links to Compact Matrix Quantum Groups
In a recent article, we gave a definition of partition C*-algebras. These are universal C*-algebras based on algebraic relations which are induced from partitions of sets. In this follow up article, we show that often we can associate a Hopf algebra structure to partition C*-algebras, and also a compact matrix quantum group structure. This follows the lines of Banica and Speicher's approach to quantum groups; however, we access them in a more algebraic way circumventing Tannaka-Krein duality. We give criteria when these quantum groups are quantum subgroups of Wang's free orthogonal quantum group. As a consequence, we see that even if we start with (generalized) categories of partitions which do not contain the pair partitions, in many cases we do not go beyond the class of Banica-Speicher quantum groups (aka easy quantum groups). However, we also discuss possible non-unitary Banica-Speicher quantum groups.
Theta maps for combinatorial Hopf algebras
There is a very natural and well-behaved Hopf algebra morphism from quasisymmetric functions to peak algebra, which we call it Theta map. This paper focuses on generalizing the peak algebra by constructing generalized Theta maps for an arbitrary combinatorial Hopf algebra. The image of Theta maps lies in the odd Hopf subalgebras, so we present a strategy to find odd Hopf subalgebra of any combinatorial Hopf algebra. We also give a combinatorial description of a family of Theta maps for Malvenuto-Reutenauer Hopf algebra of permutations $\operatorname{\mathsf{\mathfrak{S}Sym}}$ whose images are generalizations of the peak algebra. We also indicate a criterion to check whether a map is a Theta map. Moreover, precise descriptions of the Theta maps for the following Hopf algebras will be presented, Hopf subalgebras of quasisymmetric functions, commutative and co-commutative Hopf algebras, and theta maps for a Hopf algebra $\mathcal{V}$ on permutations.

In this article we study the packed words Hopf algebra WMat introduced by Duchamp, Hoang-Nghia et Tanasa. We start by explaining that WMat is not cofree, giving its antipode and describing its graded dual. We consider then a Hopf sub-algebra of permutations called $\mathfrak{S}\mathcal{H}$. Its graded dual $\mathfrak{S}\mathcal{H}^\circledast$ has a quadri-algebra structure, so it has a double dendriform algebra structure too. Thereafter, we introduce ISPW, a Hopf algebra of increasing strict packed words. It is graded, connected and cocommutative so is isomorphic to the enveloping algebra of its primitive elements. We describe some families of primitive elements. We prove that ISPW and non commutative symmetric functions are isomorphic. We define then an extended compositions Hopf algebra $\mathcal{C}_e$. It is not cocommutative but its primitive elements and those from ISPW are linked. We give an interpretation of $\mathcal{C}_e$ in terms of a semi-direct coproduct Hopf algebra. By using this, we can define two actions groups. We finish by giving an explicit isomorphism between ISPW$^\circledast$ and QSym and another one between ISPW and NSym.

In this paper, we construct the weak version of peak quasisymmetric functions inside the Hopf algebra of weak composition quasisymmetric functions (WCQSym) defined by Guo, Thibon and Yu. Weak peak quasisymmetric functions (WPQSym) are studied in several aspects. First we find a natural basis of WPQSym lifting Stembridge's peak functions. Then we confirm that WPQSym is a Hopf subalgebra of WCQSym by giving explicit multiplication, comultiplication and antipode formulas. By extending Stembridge's descent-to-peak maps, we also show that WPQSym is a Hopf quotient algebra of WCQSym. On the other hand, we prove that WPQSym embeds as a Rota-Baxter subalgebra of WCQSym, thus of the free commutative Rota-Baxter algebra of weight 1 on one generator. Moreover, WPQSym can also be a Rota-Baxter quotient algebra of WCQSym.
Decomposition spaces and restriction species

We show that Schmitt's restriction species (such as graphs, matroids, posets, etc.) naturally induce decomposition spaces (a.k.a. unital 2-Segal spaces), and that their associated coalgebras are an instance of the general construction of incidence coalgebras of decomposition spaces. We introduce the notion of directed restriction species that subsume Schmitt's restriction species and also induce decomposition spaces. Whereas ordinary restriction species are presheaves on the category of finite sets and injections, directed restriction species are presheaves on the category of finite posets and convex maps. We also introduce the notion of monoidal (directed) restriction species, which induce monoidal decomposition spaces and hence bialgebras, most often Hopf algebras. Examples of this notion include rooted forests, directed graphs, posets, double posets, and many related structures. A prominent instance of a resulting incidence bialgebra is the Butcher-Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of rooted trees. Both ordinary and directed restriction species are shown to be examples of a construction of decomposition spaces from certain cocartesian fibrations over the category of finite ordinals that are also cartesian over convex maps. The proofs rely on some beautiful simplicial combinatorics, where the notion of convexity plays a key role. The methods developed are of independent interest as techniques for constructing decomposition spaces.
The Hopf algebra of skew shapes, torsion sheaves on A^n/F_1, and ideals in Hall algebras of monoid representations

We study ideals in Hall algebras of monoid representations on pointed sets corresponding to certain conditions on the representations. These conditions include the property that the monoid act via partial permutations, that the representation possess a compatible grading, and conditions on the support of the module. Quotients by these ideals lead to combinatorial Hopf algebras which can be interpreted as Hall algebras of certain sub-categories of modules. In the case of the free commutative monoid on n generators, we obtain a co-commutative Hopf algebra structure on $n$-dimensional skew shapes, whose underlying associative product amounts to a "stacking" operation on the skew shapes. The primitive elements of this Hopf algebra correspond to connected skew shapes, and form a graded Lie algebra by anti-symmetrizing the associative product. We interpret this Hopf algebra as the Hall algebra of a certain category of coherent torsion sheaves on $\mathbb{A}_{/ \mathbb{F}_1}^n$ supported at the origin, where $\mathbb{F}_1$ denotes the field of one element. This Hopf algebra may be viewed as an $n$-dimensional generalization of the Hopf algebra of symmetric functions, which corresponds to the case $n=1$.
Power series, the Riordan group and Hopf algebras
The Riordan group, along with its constituent elements, Riordan arrays, has been a tool for combinatorial exploration since its inception in 1991. More recently, this group has made an appearance in the area of mathematical physics, where it can be used as a toy model in the theory of the renormalization of scalar fields. In this context, its Hopf algebra nature is of importance. In this note, we explain these notions. Power series play a fundamental role in this discussion.

We define a new family of noncommutative Bell polynomials in the algebra of free quasi-symmetric functions and relate it to the dual immaculate basis of quasi-symmetric functions. We obtain noncommutative versions of Grinberg's results [Canad. J. Math. 69 (2017), 21--53], and interpret them in terms of the tridendriform structure of WQSym. We then present a variant of Rey's self-dual Hopf algebra of set partitions [FPSAC'07, Tianjin] adapted to our noncommutative Bell polynomials and give a complete description of the Bell equivalence classes as linear extensions of explicit posets.
On Schur multiple zeta functions: A combinatoric generalization of multiple zeta functions

We introduce Schur multiple zeta functions which interpolate both the multiple zeta and multiple zeta-star functions of the Euler-Zagier type combinatorially. We first study their basic properties including a region of absolute convergence and the case where all variables are the same. Then, under an assumption on variables, some determinant formulas coming from theory of Schur functions such as the Jacobi-Trudi, Giambelli and dual Cauchy formula are established with the help of Macdonald's ninth variation of Schur functions. Moreover, we investigate the quasi-symmetric functions corresponding to the Schur multiple zeta functions. We obtain the similar results as above for them and, furthermore, describe the images of them by the antipode of the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions explicitly. Finally, we establish iterated integral representations of the Schur multiple zeta values of ribbon type, which yield a duality for them in some cases.

This paper considers an invariant of modules over a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra, called the critical group. This generalizes the critical groups of complex finite group representations studied by Benkart, Klivans, Reiner and Gaetz. A formula is given for the cardinality of the critical group generally, and the critical group for the regular representation is described completely. A key role in the formulas is played by the greatest common divisor of the dimensions of the indecomposable projective representations.
Counting faces of nestohedra
A new algebraic formula for the numbers of faces of nestohedra is obtained. The enumerator function $F(P_B)$ of positive lattice points in interiors of maximal cones of the normal fan of the nestohedron $P_B$ associated to a building set $B$ is described as a morphism from the certain combinatorial Hopf algebra of building sets to quasisymmetric functions. We define the $q$-analog $F_q(P_B)$ and derive its determining recurrence relations. The $f$-polynomial of the nestohedron $P_B$ appears as the principal specialization of the quasisymmetric function $F_q(P_B)$.
Renormalization: a quasi-shuffle approach

In recent years, the usual BPHZ algorithm for renormalization in perturbative quantum field theory has been interpreted, after dimensional regularization, as a Birkhoff decomposition of characters on the Hopf algebra of Feynman graphs, with values in a Rota-Baxter algebra of amplitudes. We associate in this paper to any such algebra a universal semi-group (different in nature from the Connes-Marcolli "cosmical Galois group"). Its action on the physical amplitudes associated to Feynman graphs produces the expected operations: Bogoliubov's preparation map, extraction of divergences, renormalization. In this process a key role is played by commutative and noncommutative quasi-shuffle bialgebras whose universal properties are instrumental in encoding the renormalization process.
Hopf algebra techniques to handle dynamical systems and numerical integrators

In a series of papers the present authors and their coworkers have developed a family of algebraic techniques to solve a number of problems in the theory of discrete or continuous dynamical systems and to analyze numerical integrators. Given a specific problem, those techniques construct an abstract, {\em universal} version of it which is solved algebraically; then, the results are tranferred to the original problem with the help of a suitable morphism. In earlier contributions, the abstract problem is formulated either in the dual of the shuffle Hopf algebra or in the dual of the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra. In the present contribution we extend these techniques to more general Hopf algebras, which in some cases lead to more efficient computations.

We introduce the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions with semigroup exponents generalizing the Hopf algebra QSym of quasi-symmetric functions. As a special case we obtain the Hopf algebra WCQSym of weak composition quasi-symmetric functions, which provides a framework for the study of a question proposed by G.-C.~Rota relating symmetric type functions and Rota-Baxter algebras. We provide the transformation formulas between the weak composition monomial and fundamental quasi-symmetric functions, which extends the corresponding results for quasi-symmetric functions. Moreover, we show that QSym is a Hopf subalgebra and a Hopf quotient algebra of WCQSym. Rota's question is addressed by identifying WCQsym with the free commutative unitary Rota-Baxter algebra of weight 1 on one generator, which also allows us to equip this algebra with a Hopf algebra structure.
