In Artin-Tits groups attached to Coxeter groups of spherical type, we give a combinatorial formula to express the simple elements of the dual braid monoids in the classical Artin generators. Every simple dual braid is obtained by lifting an $S$-reduced expression of its image in the Coxeter group, in a way which involves Reading's $c$-sortable elements. It has as an immediate consequence that simple dual braids are Mikado braids (the known proofs of this result either require topological realizations of the Artin groups or categorification techniques), and hence that their images in the Iwahori-Hecke algebras have positivity properties. In the classical types, this requires to give an explicit description of the inverse of Reading's bijection from $c$-sortable elements to noncrossing partitions of a Coxeter element $c$, which might be of independent interest. The bijections are described in terms of the noncrossing partition models in these types. While the proof of the formula is case-by-case, it is entirely combinatorial and we develop an approach which reduces a uniform proof to uniformly proving a lemma about inversion sets of $c$-sortable elements.

Involution words are variations of reduced words for twisted involutions in Coxeter groups. They arise naturally in the study of the Bruhat order, of certain Iwahori-Hecke algebra modules, and of orbit closures in flag varieties. Specifically, to any twisted involutions $x$, $y$ in a Coxeter group $W$ with automorphism $*$, we associate a set of involution words $\hat{\mathcal{R}}_*(x,y)$. This set is the disjoint union of the reduced words of a set of group elements $\mathcal{A}_*(x,y)$, which we call the atoms of $y$ relative to $x$. The atoms, in turn, are contained in a larger set $\mathcal{B}_*(x,y) \subset W$ with a similar definition, whose elements we refer to as Hecke atoms. Our main results concern some interesting properties of the sets $\hat{\mathcal{R}}_*(x,y)$ and $\mathcal{A}_*(x,y) \subset \mathcal{B}_*(x,y)$. For finite Coxeter groups we prove that $\mathcal{A}_*(1,y)$ consists of exactly the minimal-length elements $w \in W$ such that $w^* y \leq w$ in Bruhat order, and conjecture a more general property for arbitrary Coxeter groups. In type $A$, we describe a simple set of conditions characterizing the sets $\mathcal{A}_*(x,y)$ for all involutions $x,y \in S_n$, giving a common generalization of three recent theorems of Can, Joyce, and Wyser. We show that the atoms of a fixed involution in the symmetric group (relative to $x=1$) naturally form a graded poset, while the Hecke atoms surprisingly form an equivalence class under the "Chinese relation" studied by Cassaigne, Espie, et al. These facts allow us to recover a recent theorem of Hu and Zhang describing a set of "braid relations" spanning the involution words of any self-inverse permutation. We prove a generalization of this result giving an analogue of Matsumoto's theorem for involution words in arbitrary Coxeter groups.

We study the rational permutation braids, that is the elements of an Artin-Tits group of spherical type which can be written $x^{-1} y$ where $x$ and $y$ are prefixes of the Garside element of the braid monoid. We give a geometric characterization of these braids in type $A_n$ and $B_n$ and then show that in spherical types different from $D_n$ the simple elements of the dual braid monoid (for arbitrary choice of Coxeter element) embedded in the braid group are rational permutation braids (we conjecture this to hold also in type $D_n$).This property implies positivity properties of the polynomials arising in the linear expansion of their images in the Iwahori-Hecke algebra when expressed in the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis. In type $A_n$, it implies positivity properties of their images in the Temperley-Lieb algebra when expressed in the diagram basis.

The action of a Coxeter group $W$ on the set of left cosets of a standard parabolic subgroup deforms to define a module $\mathcal{M}^J$ of the group's Iwahori-Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}$ with a particularly simple form. Rains and Vazirani have introduced the notion of a quasiparabolic set to characterize $W$-sets for which analogous deformations exist; a motivating example is the conjugacy class of fixed point free involutions in the symmetric group. Deodhar has shown that the module $\mathcal{M}^J$ possesses a certain antilinear involution, called the bar operator, and a certain basis invariant under this involution, which generalizes the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis of $\mathcal{H}$. The well-known significance of this basis in representation theory makes it natural to seek to extend Deodhar's results to the quasiparabolic setting. In general, the obstruction to finding such an extension is the existence of an appropriate quasiparabolic analogue of the "bar operator." In this paper, we consider the most natural definition of a quasiparabolic bar operator, and develop a theory of "quasiparabolic Kazhdan-Lusztig bases" under the hypothesis that such a bar operator exists. Giving content to this theory, we prove that a bar operator in the desired sense does exist for quasiparabolic $W$-sets given by twisted conjugacy classes of twisted involutions. Finally, we prove several results classifying the quasiparabolic conjugacy classes in a Coxeter group.

Let (W, S) be a Coxeter system. A W-graph is an encoding of a representation of the corresponding Iwahori-Hecke algebra. Especially important examples include the W-graph corresponding to the action of the Iwahori-Hecke algebra on the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis, as well as this graph's strongly connected components (cells). In 2008, Stembridge identified some common features of the Kazhdan-Lusztig graphs and gave a combinatorial characterization of all W-graphs that have these features. He conjectured, and checked up to n=9, that all such A_n-cells are Kazhdan-Lusztig cells. The current paper provides a first step toward a potential proof of the conjecture. More concretely, we prove that the connected subgraphs of A_n-cells consisting of simple (i.e. directed both ways) edges are the same as in the Kazhdan-Lusztig cells.

The article is devoted to the representation theory of locally compact infinite-dimensional group $\mathbb{GLB}$ of almost upper-triangular infinite matrices over the finite field with $q$ elements. This group was defined by S.K., A.V., and Andrei Zelevinsky in 1982 as an adequate $n=\infty$ analogue of general linear groups $\mathbb{GL}(n,q)$. It serves as an alternative to $\mathbb{GL}(\infty,q)$, whose representation theory is poor.
Our most important results are the description of semi-finite unipotent traces (characters) of the group $\mathbb{ GLB}$ via certain probability measures on the Borel subgroup $\mathbb{B}$ and the construction of the corresponding von Neumann factor representations of type $II_\infty$.
As a main tool we use the subalgebra $\mathcal A(\mathbb{ GLB})$ of smooth functions in the group algebra $L_1(\mathbb{GLB})$. This subalgebra is an inductive limit of the finite--dimensional group algebras ${\mathbb C}(\mathbb{GL}(n,q))$ under parabolic embeddings.
As in other examples of the asymptotic representation theory we discover remarkable properties of the infinite case which does not take place for finite groups, like multiplicativity of indecomposable characters or connections to probabilistic concepts.
The infinite dimensional Iwahori-Hecke algebra $\mathcal H_q(\infty)$ plays a special role in our considerations and allows to understand the deep analogy of the developed theory with the representation theory of infinite symmetric group $S(\infty)$ which had been intensively studied in numerous previous papers.

We study cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras $R^{Λ_0}(β)$ in type $A^{(2)}_{2\ell}$, where $Λ_0$ is the fundamental weight. The algebras are natural $A^{(2)}_{2\ell}$-type analogue of Iwahori-Hecke algebras associated with the symmetric group, from the viewpoint of the Fock space theory developed by the first author and his collaborators. We give a formula for the dimension of the algebra, and a simple criterion to tell the representation type. The criterion is a natural generalization of Erdmann and Nakano's for the Iwahori-Hecke algebras. Except for the examples coming from cyclotomic Hecke algebras, no results of these kind existed for cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras, and our results are the first instances beyond the case of cyclotomic Hecke algebras.

We give two contructions of sets of masks on cograssmannian permutations that can be used in Deodhar's formula for Kazhdan-Lusztig basis elements of the Iwahori-Hecke algebra. The constructions are respectively based on a formula of Lascoux-Schutzenberger and its geometric interpretation by Zelevinsky. The first construction relies on a basis of the Hecke algebra constructed from principal lower order ideals in Bruhat order and a translation of this basis into sets of masks. The second construction relies on an interpretation of masks as cells of the Bott-Samelson resolution. These constructions give distinct answers to a question of Deodhar.

A $q$-analogue of combinatorics concerning the Cartan matrix for the Iwahori-Hecke algebra of type $A$ is investigated. We give several descriptions for the determinant of the graded Cartan matrix, which imply some combinatorial identities. A conjectural expression for the elementary divisors is also presented.

The set of orbits of $GL(V)$ in $Fl(V)\times Fl(V)\times V$ is finite, and is parametrized by the set of certain decorated permutations in a work of Solomon. We describe a Mirabolic RSK correspondence (bijective) between this set of decorated permutations and the set of triples: a pair of standard Young tableaux, and an extra partition. It gives rise to a partition of the set of orbits into combinatorial cells. We prove that the same partition is given by the type of a general conormal vector to an orbit. We conjecture that the same partition is given by the bimodule Kazhdan-Lusztig cells in the bimodule over the Iwahori-Hecke algebra of $GL(V)$ arising from $Fl(V)\times Fl(V)\times V$. We also give conjectural applications to the classification of unipotent mirabolic character sheaves on $GL(V)\times V$.

We consider two families of equivalence classes in the Weyl groups of type $B_n$ which are suggested by the study of left cells in unequal parameter Iwahori-Hecke algebras. Both families are indexed by a non-negative integer $r$. For $r=0$, the classes in the first family coincide with left cells corresponding to the equal parameter Iwahori-Hecke algebra. When $r$ is sufficiently large, the equivalence classes in the second family agree with left cells corresponding to a special class of choices of unequal parameters. Our main result shows that the two families of equivalence classes coincide, suggesting the structure of left cells for remaining choices of the Iwahori-Hecke algebra parameters.

We determine invariants like the Smith normal form and the determinant for certain integral matrices which arise from the character tables of the symmetric groups S_n and their double covers. In particular, we give a simple computation, based on the theory of Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions, of the determinant of the regular character table of S_n with respect to an integer r>1. This result had earlier been proved by Olsson in a longer and more indirect manner. As a consequence, we obtain a new proof of the Mathas' Conjecture on the determinant of the Cartan matrix of the Iwahori-Hecke algebra. When r is prime we determine the Smith normal form of the regular character table. Taking r large yields the Smith normal form of the full character table of S_n. Analogous results are then given for spin characters.
A Littlewood-Richardson rule for evaluation representations of quantum affine sl(n)
We give a combinatorial description of the composition factors of the induction product of two evaluation modules of the affine Iwahori-Hecke algebra of type GL(m). Using quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality, this yields a combinatorial description of the composition factors of the tensor product of two evaluation modules of the quantum affine algebra of type sl(n).
Elementary divisors of Specht modules
Let H_q(S_n) be the Iwahori-Hecke algebra of the symmetric group. This algebra is semisimple over the rational function field Q(q), where q is an indeterminate, and its irreducible representations over this field are q-analogues S_q(lambda) of the Specht modules of the symmetric group.
The q-Specht modules have an "integral form" which is defined over the Laurent polynomial ring Z_[q,q^{-1}] and they come equipped with a natural bilinear form with values in this ring. Now Z[q,q^{-1}] is not a principal ideal domain. Nonetheless, we try to compute the elementary divisors of the Gram matrix of the bilinear form on S_q(lambda). When they are defined, we give a precise relationship between the elementary divisors of the Specht modules S_q(lambda) and S_q(lambda'), where lambda' is the conjugate partition. We also compute the elementary divisors when lambda is a hook partition and give examples to show that in general elementary divisors do not exist.
