We provide a direct proof of Seidel representation in the quantum K-theory QK(Gr(k, n)) by studying projected Gromov-Witten varieties concretely. As applications, we give an alternative proof of the K-theoretic quantum Pieri rule by Buch and Mihalcea, reduce certain quantum Schubert structure constants of higher degree to classical Littlewood-Richardson coefficients for K(Gr(k, n)), and provide a quantum Littlewood-Richardson rule for QK(Gr(3, n)).
Littlewood-Richardson coefficients as a signed sum of Kostka numbers
Littlewood-Richardson (LR) coefficients and Kostka Numbers appear in representation theory and combinatorics related to $GL_n$. It is known that Kostka numbers can be represented as special Littlewood-Rischardson coefficient. In this paper, we show how one can represent LR coefficient as a signed sum of Kostka numbers, and use the formulation to give a polynomial time algorithm for the same, hence showing that they belong to the same class of decision problems. As a corollary, we will prove Steinberg's formula using Kostant's partition function.

The stretched Littlewood-Richardson coefficient $c^{tν}_{tλ,tμ}$ was conjectured by King, Tollu, and Toumazet to be a polynomial function in $t.$ It was shown to be true by Derksen and Weyman using semi-invariants of quivers. Later, Rassart used Steinberg's formula, the hive conditions, and the Kostant partition function to show a stronger result that $c^ν_{λ,μ}$ is indeed a polynomial in variables $ν, λ, μ$ provided they lie in certain polyhedral cones. Motivated by Rassart's approach, we give a short alternative proof of the polynomiality of $c^{tν}_{tλ,tμ}$ using Steinberg's formula and a simple argument about the chamber complex of the Kostant partition function.
On a conjecture on 2-reduced Schur functions and Schur's Q-functions
Motivated by Sato and Mori's work on the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation and the modified KdV equation, Mizukawa, Nakajima, and Yamada made a conjecture on 2-reduced Schur functions and Schur's Q-functions. The conjecture claims that certain sums of products of a Littlewood-Richardson coefficient and two 2-reduced Schur functions are equal to Schur's Q-functions up to a scalar multiple. In this paper we give a proof of the conjecture in cases which have not been proved yet. We introduce a new expression of Schur's Q-functions and use it to prove the conjecture. Combinatorics of the inverse Kostka matrix is also used. We also provide consideration of the conjecture in general case.
Lower and Upper Bounds for Nonzero Littlewood-Richardson Coefficients
Given a skew diagram $γ/λ$, we determine a set of lower and upper bounds that a partition $μ$ must satisfy for Littlewood-Richards coefficients $c^γ_{λ,μ}>0$. Our algorithm depends on the characterization of $c^γ_{λ,μ}$ as the number of Littlewood-Richardson tableau of shape $γ/λ$ and content $μ$ and uses the (generalized) dominance order on partitions as the main ingredient.

In this note, we study two generalizations of the Catalan numbers, namely the $s$-Catalan numbers and the spin $s$-Catalan numbers. These numbers first appeared in relation to quantum physics problems about spin multiplicities. We give a combinatorial description for these numbers in terms of Littlewood-Richardson coefficients, and explain some of the properties they exhibit in terms of Littlewood-Richardson polynomials.

The Newell-Littlewood numbers are tensor product multiplicities of Weyl modules for the classical groups in the stable range. Littlewood-Richardson coefficients form a special case. Klyachko connected eigenvalues of sums of Hermitian matrices to the saturated LR-cone and established defining linear inequalities. We prove analogues for the saturated NL-cone: an eigenvalue interpretation; a minimal list of defining linear inequalities; a description by Extended Horn inequalities, as conjectured in part II of this series; and a factorization of NL-numbers, on the boundary.

The fusion ring for $\widehat{\mathfrak{su}}(n)_m$ Wess-Zumino-Witten conformal field theories is known to be isomorphic to a factor ring of the ring of symmetric polynomials presented by Schur polynomials. We introduce a deformation of this factor ring associated with eigenpolynomials for the elliptic Ruijsenaars difference operators. The corresponding Littlewood-Richardson coefficients are governed by a Pieri rule stemming from the eigenvalue equation. The orthogonality of the eigenbasis gives rise to an analog of the Verlinde formula. In the trigonometric limit, our construction recovers the refined $\widehat{\mathfrak{su}}(n)_m$ Wess-Zumino-Witten fusion ring associated with the Macdonald polynomials.

Newell-Littlewood coefficients $n_{μ,ν}^λ$ are the multiplicities occurring in the decomposition of products of universal characters of the orthogonal and symplectic groups. They may also be expressed, or even defined directly in terms of Littlewood-Richardson coefficients, $c_{μ,ν}^λ$. Both sets of coefficients have stretched forms $c_{tμ,tν}^{tλ}$ and $n_{tμ,tν}^{tλ}$, where $tκ$ is the partition obtained by multiplying each part of the partition $κ$ by the integer $t$. It is known that $c_{tμ,tν}^{tλ}$ is a polynomial in $t$ and here it is shown that $n_{tμ,tν}^{tλ}$ is an Ehrhart quasi-polynomial in $t$ with minimum quasi-period at most $2$. The evaluation of $n_{tμ,tν}^{tλ}$ is effected both by deriving their generating function and by establishing a hive model analogous to that used for the calculation of $c_{tμ,tν}^{tλ}$. These two approaches lead to a whole battery of conjectures about the nature of the quasi-polynomials $n_{tμ,tν}^{tλ}$. These include both positivity, stability and saturation conjectures that are supported by a significant amount of data from a range of examples.

The Newell-Littlewood numbers $N_{μ,ν,λ}$ are tensor product multiplicities of Weyl modules for classical Lie groups, in the stable limit. For which triples of partitions $(μ,ν,λ)$ does $N_{μ,ν,λ}>0$ hold? The Littlewood-Richardson coefficient case is solved by the Horn inequalities (in work of A. Klyachko and A. Knutson-T. Tao). We extend these celebrated linear inequalities to a much larger family, suggesting a general solution.
An affine approach to Peterson comparison

The Peterson comparison formula proved by Woodward relates the three-pointed Gromov-Witten invariants for the quantum cohomology of partial flag varieties to those for the complete flag. Another such comparison can be obtained by composing a combinatorial version of the Peterson isomorphism with a result of Lapointe and Morse relating quantum Littlewood-Richardson coefficients for the Grassmannian to k-Schur analogs in the homology of the affine Grassmannian obtained by adding rim hooks. We show that these comparisons on quantum cohomology are equivalent, up to Postnikov's strange duality isomorphism.

We are interested in identities between Littlewood-Richardson coefficients, and hence in comparing different tensor product decompositions of the irreducible modules of the linear group GL n (C). A family of partitions-called near-rectangular-is defined, and we prove a stability result which basically asserts that the decomposition of the tensor product of two representations associated to near-rectangular partitions does not depend on n. Given a partition $λ$, of length at most n, denote by V n ($λ$) the associated simple GL n (C)-module. We conjecture that, if $λ$ is near-rectangular and $μ$ any partition, the decompositions of V n ($λ$) $\otimes$ V n ($μ$) and V n ($λ$) * $\otimes$ V n ($μ$) coincide modulo a mysterious bijection. We prove this conjecture if $μ$ is also near-rectangular and report several computer-assisted computations which reinforce our conjecture.

The Newell-Littlewood numbers are defined in terms of their celebrated cousins, the Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. Both arise as tensor product multiplicities for a classical Lie group. They are the structure coefficients of the K. Koike-I. Terada basis of the ring of symmetric functions. Recent work of H. Hahn studies them, motivated by R. Langlands' beyond endoscopy proposal; we address her work with a simple characterization of detection of Weyl modules. This motivates further study of the combinatorics of the numbers. We consider analogues of ideas of J. De Loera-T. McAllister, H. Derksen-J. Weyman, S. Fomin-W. Fulton-C.-K. Li-Y.-T. Poon, W. Fulton, R. King-C. Tollu-F. Toumazet, M. Kleber, A. Klyachko, A. Differential operators on Schur and Schubert polynomials
This paper deals with decreasing operators on back stable Schubert polynomials. We study two operators $ξ$ and $\nabla$ of degree $-1$, which satisfy the Leibniz rule. Furthermore, we show that all other such operators are linear combinations of $ξ$ and $\nabla$. For the case of Schur functions, these two operators fully determine the product of Schur functions, i.e., it is possible to define the Littlewood-Richardson coefficients only from $ξ$ and $\nabla$. This new point of view on Schur functions gives us an elementary proof of the Giambelli identity and of Jacobi-Trudi identities. For the case of Schubert polynomials, we construct a bigger class of decreasing operators as expressions in terms of $ξ$ and $\nabla$, which are indexed by Young diagrams. Surprisingly, these operators are related to Stanley symmetric functions. In particular, we extend bosonic operators from Schur to Schubert polynomials.

In this article, we develop a framework to study the large deviation principle for matrix models and their quantized versions, by tilting the measures using the limits of spherical integrals obtained in [46,47]. As examples, we obtain
1. a large deviation principle for the empirical distribution of the diagonal entries of $UB_NU^*$, for a sequence of $N\times N$ diagonal matrices $B_N$ and unitary Haar distributed matrices $U$;
2. a large deviation upper bound for the empirical eigenvalue distribution of $A_N+UB_NU^*$, for two sequences of $N\times N$ diagonal matrices $A_N, B_N$, and their complementary lower bounds at measures which are described by the free product with amalgamation;
3. a large deviation principle for the Kostka number $K_{\boldsymbolλ_N \boldsymbolη_N}$, for two sequences of partitions $\boldsymbolλ_N, \boldsymbolη_N$ with at most $N$ rows;
4. a large deviation upper bound for the Littlewood-Richardson coefficients $c_{\boldsymbolλ_N \boldsymbol η_N}^{\boldsymbol κ_N}$, for three sequences of partitions $\boldsymbolλ_N, \boldsymbol η_N, \boldsymbol κ_N$ with at most $N$ rows, and their complementary lower bounds at nice measures.

We give a new interpretation of the shifted Littlewood-Richardson coefficients $f_{λμ}^ν$ ($λ,μ,ν$ are strict partitions). The coefficients $g_{λμ}$ which appear in the decomposition of Schur $Q$-function $Q_λ$ into the sum of Schur functions $Q_λ= 2^{l(λ)}\sum_μg_{λμ}s_μ$ can be considered as a special case of $f_{λμ}^ν$ (here $λ$ is a strict partition of length $l(λ)$). We also give another description for $g_{λμ}$ as the cardinal of a subset of a set that counts Littlewood-Richardson coefficients $c_{μ^tμ}^{\tildeλ}$. This new point of view allows us to establish connections between $g_{λμ}$ and $c_{μ^t μ}^{\tildeλ}$. More precisely, we prove that $g_{λμ}=g_{λμ^t}$, and $g_{λμ} \leq c_{μ^tμ}^{\tildeλ}$. We conjecture that $g_{λμ}^2 \leq c^{\tildeλ}_{μ^tμ}$ and formulate some conjectures on our combinatorial models which would imply this inequality if it is valid.
On the product of generating functions for domino and bi-tableaux
The connection between the generating functions of various sets of tableaux and the appropriate families of quasisymmetric functions is a significant tool to give a direct analytical proof of some advanced bijective results and provide new combinatorial formulas. In this paper we focus on two kinds of type B Littlewood-Richardson coefficients and derive new formulas using weak composition quasisymmetric functions and Chow's quasisymmetric functions. In the type A case these coefficients give the multiplication table for Schur functions, i.e. the generating functions for classical Young tableaux. We look at their generalisations involving a set of bi-tableaux and domino tableaux.
