Using elementary methods, we prove new formulas for $\operatorname{pp}(n)$, the number of plane partitions of $n$, $\operatorname{pp}_r(n)$, the number of plane partitions of $n$ with at most $r$ rows, $\operatorname{pp}^s(n)$, the number of strict plane partitions of $n$ and $\operatorname{pp}^{so}(n)$, the number of symmetric plane partitions of $n$. Also, we give new formulas for $P_r(n)$, the number of $r$-component multipartitions of $n$.

Azam and Richmond arXiv:2107.09149 obtained a recursion for the generating function of \(P_λ(y)\), itself a generating function enumerating by length partitions in the lower ideal \([0,λ]\) in the Young lattice. We show that this recursion can be extended to a multi-graded version. This is done by interpreting the original problem as enumerating plane partitions with two rows. We can then use the well-developed theory of lattice points in polyhedral cones to determine some properties of the generating function. We also relate Azam and Richmond's result to those obtained by Andrews and Paule using MacMahons Omega-operator.
Totally symmetric self-complementary plane partition matrices and related polytopes
Plane partitions in the totally symmetric self-complementary symmetry class (TSSCPP) are known to be equinumerous with n x n alternating sign matrices, but no explicit bijection is known. In this paper, we give a bijection from these plane partitions to {0,1,-1}-matrices we call magog matrices, some of which are alternating sign matrices. We explore enumerative properties of these matrices related to natural statistics such as inversion number and number of negative ones. We then investigate the polytope defined as their convex hull. We show that all the magog matrices are extreme and give a partial inequality description. Finally, we define another TSSCPP polytope as the convex hull of TSSCPP boolean triangles and determine its dimension, inequalities, vertices, and facets.
A remark on certain restricted plane partitions and crystal melting model
In this paper, we provide formulas calculating the partition functions of two types of plane partitions using the crystal melting model method introduced by Okounkov, Reshetikhin and Vafa. As applications, we obtain a product formula for the partition function of the plane partitions with a limit shape boundary. A corollary of this formula is the demonstration of the equivalence between this partition function and the open-closed string amplitude of the double$-\mathbb{P}^1$ model. We also derive a product formula for the partition function of symmetric plane partitions with a limit shape boundary.
Plane partitions and rowmotion on rectangular and trapezoidal posets
We define a birational map between labelings of a rectangular poset and its associated trapezoidal poset. This map tropicalizes to a bijection between the plane partitions of these posets of fixed height, giving a new bijective proof of a result by Proctor. We also show that this map is equivariant with respect to birational rowmotion, resolving a conjecture of Williams and implying that birational rowmotion on trapezoidal posets has finite order.
Charging solid partitions

Solid partitions are the 4D generalization of the plane partitions in 3D and Young diagrams in 2D, and they can be visualized as stacking of 4D unit-size boxes in the positive corner of a 4D room. Physically, solid partitions arise naturally as 4D molten crystals that count equivariant D-brane BPS states on the simplest toric Calabi-Yau fourfold, $\mathbb{C}^4$, generalizing the 3D statement that plane partitions count equivariant D-brane BPS states on $\mathbb{C}^3$. In the construction of BPS algebras for toric Calabi-Yau threefolds, the so-called charge function on the 3D molten crystal is an important ingredient -- it is the generating function for the eigenvalues of an infinite tower of Cartan elements of the algebra. In this paper, we derive the charge function for solid partitions. Compared to the 3D case, the new feature is the appearance of contributions from certain 4-box and 5-box clusters, which will make the construction of the corresponding BPS algebra much more complicated than in the 3D.

A plane partition, whose 3D Young diagram is made of unit cubes, can be approximated by a ``coarser" plane partition, made of cubes of side length 2. Indeed, there are two such approximations obtained by ``rounding up" or ``rounding down" to the nearest cube. We relate this coarsening (or downsampling) operation to the squish map introduced by the second author in earlier work. We exhibit a related measure-preserving map between the dimer model on the honeycomb graph, and the $\text{SL}_2$ double dimer model on a coarser honeycomb graph; we compute the most interesting special case of this map, related to plane partition $q$-enumeration with 2-periodic weights. As an application, we specialize the weights to be certain roots of unity, obtain novel generating functions (some known, some new, and some conjectural) that $(-1)$-enumerate certain classes of pairs of plane partitions according to how their dimer configurations interact.

Given a skew shape $ λ/ μ$ and a flag $Φ,$ we show that the set of all flagged reverse plane partitions of shape $λ/ μ$ and flag $Φ$ is a disjoint union of Demazure crystals (up to isomorphism). As a result, the flagged dual stable Grothendieck polynomial $ g_{λ/μ}(X_Φ)$ is shown to be key positive.
Generalized Pitman-Stanley polytope: vertices and faces

In 1999, Pitman and Stanley introduced the polytope bearing their name along with a study of its faces, lattice points, and volume. The Pitman-Stanley polytope is well-studied due to its connections to probability, parking functions, the generalized permutahedra, and flow polytopes. Its lattice points correspond to plane partitions of skew shape with entries 0 and 1. Pitman and Stanley remarked that their polytope can be generalized so that lattice points correspond to plane partitions of skew shape with entries $0,1, \ldots , m$. Since then, this generalization has been untouched. We study this generalization and show that it can also be realized as a flow polytope of a grid graph. We give multiple characterizations of its vertices in terms of plane partitions of skew shape and integer flows. For a fixed skew shape, we show that the number of vertices of this polytope is a polynomial in $m$ whose leading term, in certain cases, counts standard Young tableaux of a shifted shape. Moreover, we give formulas for the number of faces, as well as generating functions for the number of vertices.
New bijective proofs pertaining to alternating sign matrices
The alternating sign matrices-descending plane partitions (ASM-DPP) bijection problem is one of the most intriguing open problems in bijective combinatorics, which is also relevant to integrable combinatorics. The notion of a signed set and a signed bijection is used in [Fischer, I. \& Konvalinka, M., Electron. J. Comb., 27 (2020) 3-35.] to construct a bijection between $\text{ASM}_n \times \text{DPP}_{n-1}$ and $\text{DPP}_n \times \text{ASM}_{n-1}$. Here, we shall construct a more natural alternative to a signed bijection between alternating sign matrices and shifted Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns which is presented in that paper, based on the notion of compatibility which we introduce to measure the naturalness of a signed bijection. In addition, we give a bijective proof for the refined enumeration of an extension of alternating sign matrices with $n+3$ statistics, first proved in [Fischer, I. \& Schreier-Aigner, F., Advances in Mathematics 413 (2023) 108831.].

We characterize totally symmetric self-complementary plane partitions (TSSCPP) as bounded compatible sequences satisfying a Yamanouchi-like condition. As such, they are in bijection with certain pipe dreams. Using this characterization and the recent bijection of [Gao-Huang] between reduced pipe dreams and reduced bumpless pipe dreams, we give a bijection between alternating sign matrices and TSSCPP in the reduced, 1432-avoiding case. We also give a different bijection in the 1432- and 2143-avoiding case that preserves natural poset structures on the associated pipe dreams and bumpless pipe dreams.
Log-Concavity of Infinite Product and Infinite Sum Generating Functions
We expand on the remark by Andrews on the importance of infinite sums and products in combinatorics. Let $\{g_d(n)\}_{d\geq 0,n \geq 1}$ be the double sequences $σ_d(n)= \sum_{\ell \mid n} \ell^d$ or $ψ_d(n)= n^d$. We associate double sequences $\left\{ p^{g_{d} }\left( n\right) \right\}$ and $\left\{ q^{g_{d} }\left( n\right) \right\} $, defined as the coefficients of \begin{eqnarray*} \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} p^{g_{d} }\left( n\right) \, t^{n} & := & \prod_{n=1}^{\infty} \left( 1 - t^{n} \right)^{-\frac{ \sum_{\ell \mid n} μ(\ell) \, g_d(n/\ell) }{n} }, \\ \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} q^{g_{d} }\left( n\right) \, t^{n} & := & \frac{1}{1 - \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} g_d(n) \, t^{n} }. \end{eqnarray*} These coefficients are related to the number of partitions $\mathrm{p}\left( n\right) = p^{σ_{1 }}\left ( n\right) $, plane partitions $pp\left( n\right) = p^{σ_{2 }}\left( n\right) $ of $n$, and Fibonacci numbers $F_{2n} = q^{ψ_{1 }}\left( n\right) $. Let $n \geq 3$ and let $n \equiv 0 \pmod{3}$. Then the coefficients are log-concave at $n$ for almost all $d$ in the exponential and geometric cases. The coefficients are not log-concave for almost all $d$ in both cases, if $n \equiv 2 \pmod{3}$. Let $n\equiv 1 \pmod{3}$. Then the log-concave property flips for almost all $d$.
Fully complementary higher dimensional partitions
We introduce a symmetry class for higher dimensional partitions - fully complementary higher dimensional partitions (FCPs) - and prove a formula for their generating function. By studying symmetry classes of FCPs in dimension 2, we define variations of the classical symmetry classes for plane partitions. As a by-product we obtain conjectures for three new symmetry classes of plane partitions and prove that another new symmetry class, namely quasi transpose complementary plane partitions are equinumerous to symmetric plane partitions.
Bounded Littlewood identity related to alternating sign matrices

An identity that is reminiscent of the Littlewood identity plays a fundamental role in recent proofs of the facts that alternating sign triangles are equinumerous with totally symmetric self-complementary plane partitions and that alternating sign trapezoids are equinumerous with holey cyclically symmetric lozenge tilings of a hexagon. We establish a bounded version of a generalization of this identity. Further, we provide combinatorial interpretations of both sides of the identity. The ultimate goal would be to construct a combinatorial proof of this identity (possibly via an appropriate variant of the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence) and its unbounded version as this would improve the understanding of the relation between alternating sign trapezoids and plane partition objects.
Systematic study of Schmidt-type partitions via weighted words
Let $S=(s_n)_{n\geq 1}$ be a sequence with elements in a commutative monoid $(\mathcal{M},+,0)$. In this paper, we provide an explicit formula for $$\sum_{\la} C(\la) q^{\sum_{n\geq 1} \la_n\cdot s_n}$$ where $\la=(\la_1,\ldots)$ run through some subsets of over-partitions, and $C(\la)$ is a certain product of ``colors'' assigned to the parts of $\la$, and $q^s$ is a formal power of $q$ for $s\in M$. This formula allows us not only to retrieve several known Schmidt-type theorems but also to provide new Schmidt-type theorems for non-periodic sequences $S$. For example, when $(M,+,0)=(\mathbb{Z}_{\geq 0},+,0)$, $s_n=1$ if there exists $i\geq 1$ such $n=\{i(i-1)/2+1\}$ and $s_n=0$ otherwise, we obtain the following statement: for all non-negative integer $m$, the number of partitions such that $\sum_{i\geq 1}\la_{i(i-1)/2+1} =m$ is equal to the number of plane partitions of $m$. Furthermore, we introduce a new family of partitions, the block partitions, generalizing the $k$-elongated partitions. From that family of partitions, we provide a generalization of a Schmidt-type theorem due to Andrews and Paule regarding $k$-elongated partitions and establish a link with the Eulerian polynomials.

Relations between the mean values of distributions of flipped spins on periodic Heisenberg XX chain and some aspects of enumerative combinatorics are discussed. The Bethe vectors, which are the state-vectors of the model, are considered both as on- and off-shell. It is this approach that makes it possible to represent and to study the correlation functions in the form of non-intersecting nests of lattice walks and related plane partitions. We distinguish between two types of walkers, namely lock step models and random turns. Of particular interest is the connection of random turns walks and a circulant matrix. The determinantal representation for the norm-trace generating function of plane partitions with fixed height of diagonal parts is obtained as the expectation of the generating exponential over off-shell N-particle Bethe states. The asymptotics of the dynamical mean value of the generating exponential is calculated in the double scaling limit provided that the evolution parameter is large. It is shown that the amplitudes of the leading asymptotics depend on the number of diagonally constrained plane partitions.

MacMahon's classical theorem on the number of boxed plane partitions has been generalized in several directions. One way to generalize the theorem is to view boxed plane partitions as lozenge tilings of a hexagonal region and then generalize it by making some holes in the region and counting its tilings. In this paper, we provide new regions whose numbers of lozenges tilings are given by simple product formulas. The regions we consider can be obtained from hexagons by removing structures called intrusions. In fact, we show that the tiling generating functions of those regions under certain weights are given by similar formulas. These give the $q$-analogue of the enumeration results.

The $K$-theoretic Schur $P$- and $Q$-functions $GP_λ$ and $GQ_λ$ may be concretely defined as weight generating functions for semistandard shifted set-valued tableaux. These symmetric functions are the shifted analogues of stable Grothendieck polynomials, and were introduced by Ikeda and Naruse for applications in geometry. Nakagawa and Naruse specified families of dual $K$-theoretic Schur $P$- and $Q$-functions $gp_λ$ and $gq_λ$ via a Cauchy identity involving $GP_λ$ and $GQ_λ$. They conjectured that the dual power series are weight generating functions for certain shifted plane partitions. We prove this conjecture. We also derive a related generating function formula for the images of $gp_λ$ and $gq_λ$ under the $ω$ involution of the ring of symmetric functions. This confirms a conjecture of Chiu and the second author. Using these results, we verify a conjecture of Ikeda and Naruse that the $GQ$-functions are a basis for a ring.

Recent work of Cesana, Craig and the third author shows that the trace of plane partitions is asymptotically equidistributed in residue classes mod $b$. Applying a technique of the first two authors and Garnowski, we prove asymptotic formulas for the secondary terms in this equidistribution, which are controlled by certain complex numbers generated by a twisted MacMahon-type product. We further carry out a similar analysis for a statistic related to plane overpartitions.

In the $1970$s, Nicolas proved that the partition function $p(n)$ is log-concave for $ n > 25$. In \cite{HNT21}, a precise conjecture on the log-concavity for the plane partition function $\func{pp}(n)$ for $n >11$ was stated. This was recently proven by Ono, Pujahari, and Rolen. In this paper, we provide a general picture. We associate to double sequences $\{g_d(n)\}_{d,n}$ with $g_d(1)=1$ and $$0 \leq g_{d}\left( n\right) - n^{d}\leq g_{1}\left( n\right) \left( n-1\right) ^{d-1}$$ polynomials $\{P_n^{g_d}(x)\}_{d,n}$ given by \begin{equation*} \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} P_n^{g_d}(x) \, q^n := \func{exp}\left( x \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} g_d(n) \frac{q^n}{n} \right) =\prod_{n=1}^{\infty} \left( 1 - q^n \right)^{-x f_d(n)}. \end{equation*} We recover $ p(n)= P_n^{σ_1}(1)$ and $\func{pp}\left( n\right) = P_n^{σ_2}(1)$, where $σ_d (n):= \sum_{\ell \mid n} \ell^d$ and $f_d(n)= n^{d-1}$. Let $n \geq 6$. Then the sequence $\{P_n^{σ_d}(1)\}_d$ is log-concave for almost all $d$ if and only if $n$ is divisible by $3$. Let $\func{id}(n)=n$. Then $P_n^{\func{id}}(x) = \frac{x}{n} L_{n-1}^{(1)}(-x)$, where $L_{n}^{\left( α\right) }\left( x\right) $ denotes the $α$-associated Laguerre polynomial. In this paper, we invest in Turán inequalities \begin{equation*} Δ_{n}^{g_d}(x) := \left( P_n^{g_d}(x) \right)^2 - P_{n-1}^{g_d}(x) \, P_{n+1}^{g_d}(x) \geq 0. \end{equation*} Let $n \geq 6$ and $0 \leq x < 2 - \frac{12}{n+4}$. Then $n$ is divisible by $3$ if and only if $Δ_{n}^{g_d}(x) \geq 0$ for almost all $d$. Let $n \geq 6$ and $n \not\equiv 2 \pmod{3}$. Then the condition on $x$ can be reduced to $x \geq 0$. We determine explicit bounds. As an analogue to Nicolas' result, we have for $g_1= \func{id}$ that $Δ_{n}^{\func{id}}(x) \geq 0$ for all $x \geq 0 $ and all $n$.
