The resonance arrangement $\mathcal{A}_n$ is the arrangement of hyperplanes which has all non-zero $0/1$-vectors in $\mathbb{R}^n$ as normal vectors. It is the adjoint of the Braid arrangement and is also called the all-subsets arrangement. The first result of this article shows that any rational hyperplane arrangement is the minor of some large enough resonance arrangement.
Its chambers appear as regions of polynomiality in algebraic geometry, as generalized retarded functions in mathematical physics and as maximal unbalanced families that have applications in economics. One way to compute the number of chambers of any real arrangement is through the coefficients of its characteristic polynomial which are called Betti numbers. We show that the Betti numbers of the resonance arrangement are determined by a fixed combination of Stirling numbers of the second kind. Lastly, we develop exact formulas for the first two non-trivial Betti numbers of the resonance arrangement.
A Graph Spectral Flow for Computing Nodal Deficiencies
In this paper we propose a spectral flow for graph Laplacians, and prove that it counts the number of nodal domains for a given Laplace eigenvector. This extends work done for Laplacians on $\mathbb{R}^n$ to the graph setting. We mention some open problems relating the topology of a graph to the analytic behaviour of its Laplace eigenvectors, and include numerical examples illustrating our flow.
On Colored Factorizations
We study the number of factorizations of a positive integer, where the parts of the factorization are of l different colors (or kinds). Recursive or explicit formulas are derived for the case of unordered and ordered, distinct and non-distinct factorizations with at most and exactly l colors.
Representability and boxicity of simplicial complexes

Let $X$ be a simplicial complex on vertex set $V$. We say that $X$ is $d$-representable if it is isomorphic to the nerve of a family of convex sets in $\mathbb{R}^d$. We define the $d$-boxicity of $X$ as the minimal $k$ such that $X$ can be written as the intersection of $k$ $d$-representable simplicial complexes. This generalizes the notion of boxicity of a graph, defined by Roberts.
A missing face of $X$ is a set $τ\subset V$ such that $τ\notin X$ but $σ\in X$ for any $σ\subsetneq τ$. We prove that the $d$-boxicity of a simplicial complex on $n$ vertices without missing faces of dimension larger than $d$ is at most $\left\lfloor\frac{1}{d+1}\binom{n}{d}\right\rfloor$. The bound is sharp: the $d$-boxicity of a simplicial complex whose set of missing faces form a Steiner $(d,d+1,n)$-system is exactly $\frac{1}{d+1}\binom{n}{d}$.
The Turán number for the edge blow-up of trees

The edge blow-up of a graph $F$ is the graph obtained from replacing each edge in $F$ by a clique of the same size where the new vertices of the cliques are all different. In this article, we concern about the Turán problem for the edge blow-up of trees. Erdős et al. (1995) and Chen et al. (2003) solved the problem for stars. The problem for paths was resolved by Glebov (2011). Liu (2013) extended the above results to cycles and a special family of trees with the minimum degree at most two in the smaller color class (paths and proper subdivisions of stars were included in the family). In this article, we extend Liu's result to all the trees with the minimum degree at least two in the smaller color class. Combining with Liu's result, except one particular case, the Turán problem for the edge blow-up of trees is completely resolved. Moreover, we determine the maximum number of edges in the family of $\{K_{1,k}, kK_2, 2K_{1,k-1}\}$-free graphs and the extremal graphs, which is an extension of a result given by Abbott et al. (1972).
Direct and inverse results for popular differences in trees of positive dimension

We establish analogues for trees of results relating the density of a set $E \subset \mathbb{N}$, the density of its set of popular differences, and the structure of $E$. To obtain our results, we formalise a correspondence principle of Furstenberg and Weiss which relates combinatorial data on a tree to the dynamics of a Markov process. Our main tools are Kneser-type inverse theorems for sets of return times in measure-preserving systems. In the ergodic setting we use a recent result of the first author with Björklund and Shkredov and a stability-type extension (proved jointly with Shkredov); we also prove a new result for non-ergodic systems.

Let $S$ be a set of arbitrary objects, and let $s\mapsto s'$ be a permutation of $S$ such that $s"=(s')'=s$ and $s'\neq s$. Let $S^d=\{v_1...v_d\colon v_i\in S\}$. Two words $v,w\in S^d$ are dichotomous if $v_i=w'_i$ for some $i\in [d]$, and they form a twin pair if $v_i'=w_i$ and $v_j=w_j$ for every $j\in [d]\setminus \{i\}$. A polybox code is a set $V\subset S^d$ in which every two words are dichotomous. A polybox code $V$ is a cube tiling code if $|V|=2^d$. A $2$-periodic cube tiling of $\mathbb{R}^d$ and a cube tiling of flat torus $\mathbb{T}^d$ can be encoded in a form of a cube tiling code. A twin pair $v,w$ in which $v_i=w_i'$ is glue (at the $i$th position) if the pair $v,w$ is replaced by one word $u$ such that $u_j=v_j=w_j$ for every $j\in [d]\setminus \{i\}$ and $u_i=*$, where $*\not\in S$ is some extra fixed symbol. A word $u$ with $u_i=*$ is cut (at the $i$th position) if $u$ is replaced by a twin pair $q,t$ such that $q_i=t_i'$ and $u_j=q_j=t_j$ for every $j\in [d]\setminus \{i\}$. If $V,W\subset S^d$ are two cube tiling codes and there is a sequence of twin pairs which can be interchangeably gluing and cutting in a way which allows us to pass from $V$ to $W$, then we say that $W$ is obtained from $V$ by gluing and cutting. In the paper it is shown that for every two cube tiling codes in dimension six one can be obtained from the other by gluing and cutting.
Towards Heim and Neuhauser's Unimodality Conjecture on the Nekrasov-Okounkov polynomials

Let $Q_n(z)$ be the polynomials associated with the Nekrasov-Okounkov formula $$\sum_{n\geq 1} Q_n(z) q^n := \prod_{m = 1}^\infty (1 - q^m)^{-z - 1}.$$ In this paper we partially answer a conjecture of Heim and Neuhauser, which asks if $Q_n(z)$ is unimodal, or stronger, log-concave for all $n \geq 1$. Through a new recursive formula, we show that if $A_{n,k}$ is the coefficient of $z^k$ in $Q_n(z)$, then $A_{n,k}$ is log-concave in $k$ for $k \ll n^{1/6}/\log n$ and monotonically decreasing for $k \gg \sqrt{n}\log n$. We also propose a conjecture that can potentially close the gap.
Compatible Recurrent Identities of the Sandpile Group and Maximal Stable Configurations

In the abelian sandpile model, recurrent chip configurations are of interest as they are a natural choice of coset representatives under the quotient of the reduced Laplacian. We investigate graphs whose recurrent identities with respect to different sinks are compatible with each other. The maximal stable configuration is the simplest recurrent chip configuration, and graphs whose recurrent identities equal the maximal stable configuration are of particular interest, and are said to have the complete maximal identity property. We prove that given any graph $G$ one can attach trees to the vertices of $G$ to yield a graph with the complete maximal identity property. We conclude with several intriguing conjectures about the complete maximal identity property of various graph products.
Testing correlation of unlabeled random graphs

We study the problem of detecting the edge correlation between two random graphs with $n$ unlabeled nodes. This is formalized as a hypothesis testing problem, where under the null hypothesis, the two graphs are independently generated; under the alternative, the two graphs are edge-correlated under some latent node correspondence, but have the same marginal distributions as the null. For both Gaussian-weighted complete graphs and dense Erdős-Rényi graphs (with edge probability $n^{-o(1)}$), we determine the sharp threshold at which the optimal testing error probability exhibits a phase transition from zero to one as $n\to \infty$. For sparse Erdős-Rényi graphs with edge probability $n^{-Ω(1)}$, we determine the threshold within a constant factor.
The proof of the impossibility results is an application of the conditional second-moment method, where we bound the truncated second moment of the likelihood ratio by carefully conditioning on the typical behavior of the intersection graph (consisting of edges in both observed graphs) and taking into account the cycle structure of the induced random permutation on the edges. Notably, in the sparse regime, this is accomplished by leveraging the pseudoforest structure of subcritical Erdős-Rényi graphs and a careful enumeration of subpseudoforests that can be assembled from short orbits of the edge permutation.
Flows on measurable spaces
The theory of graph limits is only understood to any nontrivial degree in the cases of dense graphs and of bounded degree graphs. There is, however, a lot of interest in the intermediate cases. It appears that the most important constituents of graph limits in the general case will be Markov spaces (Markov chains on measurable spaces with a stationary distribution).
This motivates our goal to extend some important theorems from finite graphs to Markov spaces or, more generally, to measurable spaces. In this paper, we show that much of flow theory, one of the most important areas in graph theory, can be extended to measurable spaces. Surprisingly, even the Markov space structure is not fully needed to get these results: all we need a standard Borel space with a measure on its square. Our results may be considered as extensions of flow theory for directed graphs to the measurable case.
Frierson's 1907 Parameterization of Compound Magic Squares Extended to Orders 3^{l}, l=1,2,3,..., with Information Entropy
Frierson used a powerful parameterization of the pattern of the order 3 associative magic square to construct a family of six related order 9 compound (or composite) magic squares, several of them ancient. Stimulated by Bellew's 1997 extension to order 27, we extend these ideas to all orders that are powers of 3, and in addition find simple formulae for the matrix spectra and entropic measures for all those orders. This construction is fractal and we give numerical results to order 243 which show an information entropy measure converging to a constant value of about 1.168.. for the lowest entropy members. We also briefly consider compounding of an order 4 magic square with the lowest entropy, for which we find a similar trend to constant entropy.
On Local Antimagic Chromatic Number of Spider Graphs
An edge labeling of a connected graph $G = (V,E)$ is said to be local antimagic if it is a bijection $f : E \to \{1, . . . , |E|\}$ such that for any pair of adjacent vertices $x$ and $y$, $f^+(x) \ne f^+(y)$, where the induced vertex label $f^+(x) = \sum f(e)$, with $e$ ranging over all the edges incident to $x$. The local antimagic chromatic number of $G$, denoted by $χ_{la}(G)$, is the minimum number of distinct induced vertex labels over all local antimagic labelings of $G$. In this paper, we first show that a $d$-leg spider graph has $d+1\le χ_{la}\le d+2$. We then obtain many sufficient conditions such that both the values are attainable. Finally, we show that each 3-leg spider has $χ_{la} = 4$ if not all legs are of odd length. We conjecture that almost all $d$-leg spiders of size $q$ that satisfies $d(d+1) \le 2(2q-1)$ with each leg length at least 2 has $χ_{la} = d+1$.
Minor summation formula of hyperpfaffians and Selberg integrals
In the previous paper (J. Combin. Theory Ser. A, 120, 2013, 1263--1284) H. Tagawa and the two authors proposed an algebraic method to compute certain Pfaffians whose form resemble to Hankel determinants associated with moment sequences of the classical orthogonal polynomials. At the end of the paper they offered several conjectures. In this work we employ a completely different method to evaluate this type of Pfaffians. The idea is to apply certain de Bruijn type formula and convert the evaluation of the Pfaffians to the certain Selberg type integrals. This approach works not only for Pfaffians but also for hyperpfaffians. Hence it enables us to establish much more generalized identities than those conjectured in the previous paper. We also investigate some Pfaffians related to classical $q$-orthogonal polynomials.

Gao, Huo, Liu and Ma (2019) proved a result on the existence of paths connecting specified two vertices whose lengths differ by one or two. By using this result, they settled two famous conjectures due to Thomassen (1983). In this paper, we improve their result, and obtain a generalization of a result of Bondy and Vince (1998).
Plethysms and operads

We introduce the $\mathcal{T}$-construction, an endofunctor on the category of generalized operads as a general mechanism by which various notions of plethystic substitution arise from more ordinary notions of substitution. In the special case of one-object unary operads, i.e. monoids, we recover the $T$-construction of Giraudo. We realize several kinds of plethysm as convolution products arising from the homotopy cardinality of the incidence bialgebra of the bar construction of various operads obtained from the $\mathcal{T}$-construction. The bar constructions are simplicial groupoids, and in the special case of the terminal reduced operad $\mathsf{Sym}$, we recover the simplicial groupoid of arXiv:1804.09462, a combinatorial model for ordinary plethysm in the sense of Pólya, given in the spirit of Waldhausen $S$ and Quillen $Q$ constructions. In some of the cases of the $\mathcal{T}$-construction, an analogous interpretation is possible.

Different types of domination on the Sierpiński graphs S(K_n,t) will be studied in this paper. More precisely, we propose a minimal dominating set for S(K_n,t) so that the exact values of their domination numbers, Roman domination numbers, and double Roman domination numbers are given. As applications, some previous bounds and results are confirmed to be tight and further generalized.

Notes on the combinatorial fundamentals of algebra
This is a detailed survey -- with rigorous and self-contained proofs -- of some of the basics of elementary combinatorics and algebra, including the properties of finite sums, binomial coefficients, permutations and determinants. It is entirely expository (and written to a large extent as a repository for folklore proofs); no new results (and few, if any, new proofs) appear.
Dichromatic number and forced subdivisions

We investigate bounds on the dichromatic number of digraphs which avoid a fixed digraph as a topological minor. For a digraph $F$, denote by $\text{mader}_{\vecχ}(F)$ the smallest integer $k$ such that every $k$-dichromatic digraph contains a subdivision of $F$. As our first main result, we prove that if $F$ is an orientation of a cycle then $\text{mader}_{\vecχ}(F)=v(F)$. This settles a conjecture of Aboulker, Cohen, Havet, Lochet, Moura and Thomassé. We also extend this result to the more general class of orientations of cactus graphs, and to bioriented forests. Our second main result is that $\text{mader}_{\vecχ}(F)=4$ for every tournament $F$ of order $4$. This is an extension of the classical result by Dirac that $4$-chromatic graphs contain a $K_4$-subdivision to directed graphs.
