A note on the surjectivity of operators on vector bundles over discrete spaces
In this note we give a short and self-contained proof for a criterion of Eidelheit on the solvability of linear equations in infinitely many variables. We use this criterion to study the surjectivity of magnetic Schrödinger operators on bundles over graphs.
On The Double Roman bondage numbers of Graphs
For a graph $G=(V,E)$, a double roman dominating function (DRDF) is a function $f : V \longrightarrow \{0, 1, 2,3\}$ having the property that if $f(v)=0$ for some vertex $v$, then $v$ has at least two neighbors assigned $2$ under $f$ or one neighbor $w$ with $f(w)=3$, and if $f(v)=1$ then $v$ has at least one neighbor $w$ with $f(w) \geq 2$. The weight of a DRDF $f$ is the sum $f (V) =\sum_{u\in V} f (u)$. The minimum weight of a DRDF on a graph $G$ is the double Roman domination number of $G$ and is denoted by $γ_{dR}(G)$. The double roman bondage number of $G$, denoted by $b_{dR}(G)$, is the minimum cardinality among all edge subsets $B \subseteq E(G)$ such that $γ_{dR}(G-B) > γ_{dR}(G)$. In this paper we study the double roman bondage number in graphs. We determine the double roman bondage number in several families of graphs, and present several bounds for the double roman bondage number. We also study the complexity issue of the double roman bondage number and prove that the decision problem for the double roman bondage number is NP-hard even when restricted to bipartite graphs.

Let $G$ be a a connected graph. The Wiener index of a connected graph is the sum of the distances between all unordered pairs of vertices. We provide asymptotic formulae for the maximum Wiener index of simple triangulations and quadrangulations with given connectivity, as the order increases, and make conjectures for the extremal triangulations and quadrangulations based on computational evidence. If $\overlineσ(v)$ denotes the arithmetic mean of the distances from $v$ to all other vertices of $G$, then the remoteness of $G$ is defined as the largest value of $\overlineσ(v)$ over all vertices $v$ of $G$. We give sharp upper bounds on the remoteness of simple triangulations and quadrangulations of given order and connectivity.
A Multiparametric Quon Algebra
The quon algebra is an approach to particle statistics introduced by Greenberg in order to provide a theory in which the Pauli exclusion principle and Bose statistics are violated by a small amount. We generalize these models by introducing a deformation of the quon algebra generated by a collection of operators $\mathtt{a}_i$, $i \in \mathbb{N}^*$ the set of positive integers, on an infinite dimensional module satisfying the $q_{i,j}$-mutator relations $\mathtt{a}_i \mathtt{a}_j^† - q_{i,j}\, \mathtt{a}_j^† \mathtt{a}_i = δ_{i,j}$. The realizability of our model is proved by means of the Aguiar-Mahajan bilinear form on the chambers of hyperplane arrangements. We show that, for suitable values of $q_{i,j}$, the module generated by the particle states obtained by applying combinations of $\mathtt{a}_i$'s and $\mathtt{a}_i^†$'s to a vacuum state $|0\rangle$ is an indefinite Hilbert module. Furthermore, we refind the extended Zagier's conjecture established independently by Meljanac et al. and by Duchamp et al.
Yang-Baxter random fields and stochastic vertex models
Bijectivization refines the Yang-Baxter equation into a pair of local Markov moves which randomly update the configuration of the vertex model. Employing this approach, we introduce new Yang-Baxter random fields of Young diagrams based on spin $q$-Whittaker and spin Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions. We match certain scalar Markovian marginals of these fields with (1) the stochastic six vertex model; (2) the stochastic higher spin six vertex model; and (3) a new vertex model with pushing which generalizes the $q$-Hahn PushTASEP introduced recently by Corwin-Matveev-Petrov (arXiv:1811.06475). Our matchings include models with two-sided stationary initial data, and we obtain Fredholm determinantal expressions for the $q$-Laplace transforms of the height functions of all these models. Moreover, we also discover difference operators acting diagonally on spin $q$-Whittaker or (stable) spin Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions.

We show that the independence complexes of generalised Mycielskian of complete graphs are homotopy equivalent to a wedge sum of spheres, and determine the number of copies and the dimensions of these spheres. We also prove that the independence complexes of categorical product of complete graphs are wedge sum of circles, upto homotopy. Further, we show that if we perturb a graph $G$ in a certain way, then the independence complex of this new graph is homotopy equivalent to the suspension of the independence complex of $G$.
Cometric Association Schemes
One may think of a $d$-class association scheme as a $(d+1)$-dimensional matrix algebra over $\mathbb{R}$ closed under Schur products. In this context, an imprimitive scheme is one which admits a subalgebra of block matrices, also closed under the Schur product. Such systems of imprimitivity provide us with quotient schemes, smaller association schemes which are often easier to understand, providing useful information about the structure of the larger scheme. For any association scheme we find a basis of $d+1$ idempotent matrices for the algebra. A cometric scheme is one whose idempotent basis may be ordered $E_0,E_1,...,E_d$ with polynomials $f_0,f_1,...,f_d$ giving $f_i\circ(E_1)=E_i$ and deg$(f_i)=i$ for each $i$. Throughout this thesis we are primarily interested in three goals: building new examples of cometric schemes, drawing connections between cometric schemes and other objects, and finding new realizability conditions on feasible parameter sets --- using these conditions to rule out open parameter sets when possible. After introducing association schemes, this thesis focuses on a few recent results regarding cometric schemes with small $d$. We begin by examining the matrix algebra, looking for low rank positive semidefinite matrices with few distinct entries and later establishing new conditions on realizable parameter sets. We then focus on imprimitive examples of both 3- and 4-class cometric schemes, generating new examples of the former while building realizability conditions for both. In each case, we examine the related $t$-distance sets, giving conditions which work towards equivalence; in the case of 3-class $Q$-antipodal schemes an equivalence is established. We conclude by partially extending a result of Brouwer and Koolen concerning the connectivity of graphs arising from metric schemes.
The shuffle conjecture
Walks in the plane taking unit-length steps north and east from $(0,0)$ to $(n,n)$ never dropping below $y=x$ and parking cars subject to preferences are two intriguing ingredients in a formula conjectured in 2005, now famously known as the shuffle conjecture.
Here we describe the combinatorial tools needed to state the conjecture. We also give key parts and people in its history, including its eventual algebraic solution by Carlsson and Mellit, which was published in the Journal of the American Mathematical Society in 2018. Finally, we conclude with some remaining open problems.
The covering lemma and $q$-analogues of extremal set theory problems
We prove a general lemma (inspired by a lemma of Holroyd and Talbot) about the connection of the largest cardinalities (or weight) of structures satisfying some hereditary property and substructures satisfying the same hereditary property. We use it to show how results concerning forbidden subposet problems in the Boolean poset imply analogous results in the poset of subspaces of a finite vector space. We also study generalized forbidden subposet problems in the poset of subspaces.
Doubly transitive lines II: Almost simple symmetries
We study lines through the origin of finite-dimensional complex vector spaces that enjoy a doubly transitive automorphism group. This paper classifies those lines that exhibit almost simple symmetries. We introduce a general recipe involving Schur covers to recover doubly transitive lines from their automorphism group. Combining our results with recent work on the affine case by Dempwolff and Kantor, we deduce a classification of all linearly dependent doubly transitive lines in real or complex space.
Fractional Exclusion Statistics as an Occupancy Process

We show the possibility of describing fractional exclusion statistics (FES) as an occupancy process with global and \textit{local} exclusion constraints. More specifically, using combinatorial identities, we show that FES can be viewed as "ball-in-box" models with appropriate weighting on the set of occupancy configurations (merely represented by a partition of the total number of particles). As a consequence, the following exact statement of the generalized Pauli principle is derived: for an $N$-particles system exhibiting FES of extended parameter \mbox{$g=q/r$} ($q$ and $r$ are co-prime integers such that $0 < q \leq r$), (1)~the allowed occupation number of a state is less than or equal to $r-q+1$ and \emph{not} to $1/g$ whenever $q\neq 1$ and (2)~the global occupancy shape is admissible if the number of states occupied by at least two particles is less than or equal to $(N-1)/r$ ($N \equiv 1 \mod r$). These counting rules allow distinguishing infinitely many families of FES systems depending on the parameter $g$ and the size $N$.
Comparing Wiener complexity with eccentric complexity
The transmission of a vertex $v$ of a graph $G$ is the sum of distances from $v$ to all the other vertices in $G$. The Wiener complexity of $G$ is the number of different transmissions of its vertices. Similarly, the eccentric complexity of $G$ is defined as the number of different eccentricities of its vertices. In this paper these two complexities are compared. The complexities are first studied on Cartesian product graphs. Transmission indivisible graphs and arithmetic transmission graphs are introduced to demonstrate sharpness of upper and lower bounds on the Wiener complexity, respectively. It is shown that for almost all graphs the Wiener complexity is not smaller than the eccentric complexity. This property is proved for trees, the equality holding precisely for center-regular trees. Several families of graphs in which the complexities are equal are constructed. Using the Cartesian product, it is proved that the eccentric complexity can be arbitrarily larger than the Wiener complexity. Additional infinite families of graphs with this property are constructed by amalgamating universally diametrical graphs with center-regular trees.
Edge Disjoint Caterpillar Realizations
In this paper, we consider the edge disjoint caterpillar realizations of tree degree sequences. We give the necessary and sufficient conditions when two tree degree sequences have edge disjoint caterpillar realizations. We conjecture that an arbitrary number of tree degree sequences have edge disjoint realizations if every vertex is a leaf in at most one tree. We prove that the conjecture is true if the number of tree degree sequences is at most $4$. We also prove that the conjecture is true if $n \ge \max\{22k-11, 396\}$, where $n$ is the number of vertices and $k$ is the number of tree degree sequences.

For positive integers $N$ and $r \geq 2$, an $r$-monotone coloring of $\binom{\{1,\dots,N\}}{r}$ is a 2-coloring by $-1$ and $+1$ that is monotone on the lexicographically ordered sequence of $r$-tuples of every $(r+1)$-tuple from~$\binom{\{1,\dots,N\}}{r+1}$. Let ${\overline{R}_{mon}}(n;r)$ be the minimum $N$ such that every $r$-monotone coloring of $\binom{\{1,\dots,N\}}{r}$ contains a monochromatic copy of $\binom{\{1,\dots,n\}}{r}$.
For every $r \geq 3$, it is known that ${\overline{R}_{mon}}(n;r) \leq tow_{r-1}(O(n))$, where $tow_h(x)$ is the tower function of height $h-1$ defined as $tow_1(x)=x$ and $tow_h(x) = 2^{tow_{h-1}(x)}$ for $h \geq 2$. The Erdős--Szekeres Lemma and the Erdős--Szekeres Theorem imply ${\overline{R}_{mon}}(n;2)=(n-1)^2+1$ and ${\overline{R}_{mon}}(n;3)=\binom{2n-4}{n-2}+1$, respectively. It follows from a result of Eliáš and Matoušek that ${\overline{R}_{mon}}(n;4)\geq tow_3(Ω(n))$.
We show that ${\overline{R}_{mon}}(n;r)\geq tow_{r-1}(Ω(n))$ for every $r \geq 3$. This, in particular, solves an open problem posed by Eliáš and Matoušek and by Moshkovitz and Shapira. Using two geometric interpretations of monotone colorings, we show connections between estimating ${\overline{R}_{mon}}(n;r)$ and two Ramsey-type problems that have been recently considered by several researchers. Namely, we show connections with higher-order Erdős--Szekeres theorems and with Ramsey-type problems for order-type homogeneous sequences of points.
We also prove that the number of $r$-monotone colorings of $\binom{\{1,\dots,N\}}{r}$ is $2^{N^{r-1}/r^{Θ(r)}}$ for $N \geq r \geq 3$, which generalizes the well-known fact that the number of simple arrangements of~$N$ pseudolines is $2^{Θ(N^2)}$.
Strong chromatic index and Hadwiger number
We investigate the effect of a fixed forbidden clique minor upon the strong chromatic index, both in multigraphs and in simple graphs.
We conjecture for each $k\ge 4$ that any $K_k$-minor-free multigraph of maximum degree $Δ$ has strong chromatic index at most $\frac32(k-2)Δ$. We present a construction certifying that if true the conjecture is asymptotically sharp as $Δ\to\infty$. In support of the conjecture, we show it in the case $k=4$ and prove the statement for strong clique number in place of strong chromatic index.
By contrast, we make a basic observation that for $K_k$-minor-free simple graphs, the problem of strong edge-colouring is "between" Hadwiger's Conjecture and its fractional relaxation.
For $k\geq5$, we also show that $K_k$-minor-free multigraphs of edge-diameter at most $2$ have strong clique number at most $(k-\frac{1}{2})Δ$.

We study the consistency and consistency strength of various configurations concerning the cardinal characteristics $\mathfrak{s}_θ,\mathfrak{p}_θ,\mathfrak{g}_θ,\mathfrak{r}_θ,\mathfrak{t}_θ$ at uncountable regular cardinals $θ$. Motivated by a theorem of Raghavan-Shelah who proved that $\mathfrak{s}_θ\leq\mathfrak{b}_θ$, we explore in the first part of the paper the consistency of inequalities comparing $\mathfrak{s}_θ$ with $\mathfrak{p}_θ$ and $\mathfrak{g}_θ$. In the second part of the paper we study variations of the extender-based Radin forcing to establish several consistency results concerning $\mathfrak{r}_θ$ from hyper-measurability assumptions, results which were previously known to be consistent only from supercompactness assumptions. In doing so, we answer several questions which appeared in the literature.
Moments of moments of characteristic polynomials of random unitary matrices and lattice point counts
In this note we give a combinatorial and non-computational proof of the asymptotics of the integer moments of the moments of the characteristic polynomials of Haar distributed unitary matrices as the size of the matrix goes to infinity. This is achieved by relating these quantities to a lattice point count problem. Our main result is a new explicit expression for the leading order coefficient in the asymptotic as a volume of a certain region involving continuous Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns with constraints.
An infinite family of $m$-ovoids of $Q(4,q)$
In this paper, we construct an infinite family of $\frac{q-1}{2}$-ovoids of the generalized quadrangle $Q(4,q)$, for $q\equiv 1 (\text{mod}\ 4)$ and $q>5$. Together with the examples given by Bamberg et al. and constructions provided by Feng et al., this establishes the existence of $\frac{q-1}{2}$-ovoids in $Q(4,q)$ for each odd prime power $q$.
Counting and ordering periodic stationary solutions of lattice Nagumo equations
We study the rich structure of periodic stationary solutions of Nagumo reaction diffusion equation on lattices. By exploring the relationship with Nagumo equations on cyclic graphs we are able to divide these periodic solutions into equivalence classes that can be partially ordered and counted. In order to accomplish this, we use combinatorial concepts such as necklaces, bracelets and Lyndon words.
Cyclic cycle systems of the complete multipartite graph
In this paper, we study the existence problem for cyclic $\ell$-cycle decompositions of the graph $K_m[n]$, the complete multipartite graph with $m$ parts of size $n$, and give necessary and sufficient conditions for their existence in the case that $2\ell \mid (m-1)n$.
