Local-Global Convergence, an analytic and structural approach
Based on methods of structural convergence we provide a unifying view of local-global convergence, fitting to model theory and analysis. The general approach outlined here provides a possibility to extend the theory of local-global convergence to graphs with unbounded degrees. As an application, we extend previous results on continuous clustering of local convergent sequences and prove the existence of modeling quasi-limits for local-global convergent sequences of nowhere dense graphs.

Let $\mathfrak g$ be a simple Lie algebra with a Borel subalgebra $\mathfrak b$ and $\mathfrak{Ab}$ the set of abelian ideals of $\mathfrak b$. Let $Δ^+$ be the corresponding set of positive roots. We continue our study of combinatorial properties of the partition of $\mathfrak{Ab}$ parameterised by the long positive roots. In particular, the union of an arbitrary set of maximal abelian ideals is described, if $\mathfrak g\ne\mathfrak{sl}_n$. We also characterise the greatest lower bound of two positive roots, when it exists, and point out interesting subposets of $Δ^+$ that are modular lattices.
Almost similar configurations
Let $h(n)$ denote the maximum number of triangles with angles between $59^\circ$ and $61^\circ$ in any $n$-element planar set. Our main result is an exact formula for $h(n)$. We also prove $h(n)= n^3/24+ O(n \log n)$ as $n\to \infty$. However, there are triangles $T$ and $n$-point sets $P$ showing that the number of $\varepsilon$-similar copies of $T$ in $P$ can exceed $n^3/15$ for any $\varepsilon>0$.

We study an extremal question for the (reversible) $r-$bootstrap percolation processes. Given a graph and an initial configuration where each vertex is active or inactive, in the $r-$bootstrap percolation process the following rule is applied in discrete-time rounds: each vertex gets active if it has at least $r$ active neighbors, and an active vertex stays active forever. In the reversible $r$-bootstrap percolation, each vertex gets active if it has at least $r$ active neighbors, and inactive otherwise. We consider the following question on the $d$-dimensional torus: how many vertices should be initially active so that the whole graph becomes active? Our results settle an open problem by Balister, Bollobás, Johnson, and Walters and generalize the results by Flocchini, Lodi, Luccio, Pagli, and Santoro.
Hypergraph framework for irreducible noncontextuality inequalities from logical proofs of the Kochen-Specker theorem

Kochen-Specker (KS) theorem reveals the inconsistency between quantum theory and any putative underlying model of it satisfying the constraint of KS-noncontextuality. A logical proof of the KS theorem is one that relies only on the compatibility relations amongst a set of projectors (a KS set) to witness this inconsistency. These compatibility relations can be represented by a hypergraph, referred to as a contextuality scenario. Here we consider contextuality scenarios that we term KS-uncolourable, e.g., those which appear in logical proofs of the KS theorem. We introduce a hypergraph framework to obtain noise-robust witnesses of contextuality from such scenarios.
Our approach builds on the results of R. Kunjwal and R. W. Spekkens, Phys. Rev. Lett. 115, 110403 (2015), by providing new insights into the relationship between the structure of a contextuality scenario and the associated noise-robust noncontextuality inequalities that witness contextuality. The present work also forms a necessary counterpart to the framework presented in R. Kunjwal, Quantum 3, 184 (2019), which only applies to KS-colourable contextuality scenarios, i.e., those which do not admit logical proofs of the KS theorem but do admit statistical proofs.
We rely on a single hypergraph invariant, defined in R. Kunjwal, Quantum 3, 184 (2019), that appears in our contextuality witnesses, namely, the weighted max-predictability. The present work can also be viewed as a study of this invariant. Significantly, unlike the case of R. Kunjwal, Quantum 3, 184 (2019), none of the graph invariants from the graph-theoretic framework for KS-contextuality due to Cabello, Severini, and Winter (the "CSW framework", Phys. Rev. Lett. 112, 040401 (2014)) are relevant for our noise-robust noncontextuality inequalities.

An $S$-ring (a Schur ring) is said to be separable with respect to a class of groups $\mathcal{K}$ if every its algebraic isomorphism to an $S$-ring over a group from $\mathcal{K}$ is induced by a combinatorial isomorphism. We prove that every Schur ring over an abelian group $G$ of order $4p$, where $p$ is a prime, is separable with respect to the class of abelian groups. This implies that the Weisfeiler-Leman dimension of the class of Cayley graphs over $G$ is at most 2.
The Two Eyes Lemma: a linking problem for horoball necklaces

In the course of our work on low-volume hyperbolic 3-manifolds, we came upon a linking problem for horoball necklaces in $\mathbb{H}^3$. A horoball necklace is a collection of sequentially tangent beards (i.e. spheres) with disjoint interiors lying on a flat table (i.e. a plane) such that each bead is of diameter at most one and is tangent to the table. In this note, we analyze the possible configurations of an 8-bead necklace linking around two other diameter-one spheres on the table. We show that all the beads are forced to have diameter one, the two linked spheres are tangent, and that each bead must kiss (i.e. be tangent to) at least one of the two linked spheres. In fact, there is a 1-parameter family of distinct configurations.

We give an explicit recursive description of the Hilbert series and Gröbner bases for the family of quadratic ideals defining the jet schemes of a double point. We relate these recursions to the Rogers-Ramanujan identity and prove a conjecture of the second author, Oblomkov and Rasmussen.

Strong subgraph $k$-arc-connectivity
Two previous papers, arXiv:1803.00284 and arXiv:1803.00281, introduced and studied strong subgraph $k$-connectivity of digraphs obtaining characterizations, lower and upper bounds and computational complexity results for the new digraph parameter. The parameter is an analog of well-studied generalized $k$-connectivity of undirected graphs. In this paper, we introduce the concept of strong subgraph $k$-arc-connectivity of digraphs, which is an analog of generalized $k$-edge-connectivity of undirected graphs. We also obtain characterizations, lower and upper bounds and computational complexity results for this digraph parameter. Several of our results differ from those obtained for strong subgraph $k$-connectivity.
Cliques in rank-1 random graphs: the role of inhomogeneity

We study the asymptotic behavior of the clique number in rank-1 inhomogeneous random graphs, where edge probabilities between vertices are roughly proportional to the product of their vertex weights. We show that the clique number is concentrated on at most two consecutive integers, for which we provide an expression. Interestingly, the order of the clique number is primarily determined by the overall edge density, with the inhomogeneity only affecting multiplicative constants or adding at most a $\log\log(n)$ multiplicative factor. For sparse enough graphs the clique number is always bounded and the effect of inhomogeneity completely vanishes.
Solving a Conjecture on Identification in Hamming Graphs

Identifying codes in graphs have been widely studied since their introduction by Karpovsky, Chakrabarty and Levitin in 1998. In particular, there are a lot of results regarding the binary hypercubes, that is, the Hamming graphs $K_2^n$. In 2008, Gravier et al. started investigating identification in $K_q^2$. Goddard and Wash, in 2013, studied identifying codes in the general Hamming graphs $K_q^n$. They stated, for instance, that $γ^{ID}(K_q^n)\leq q^{n-1}$ for any $q$ and $n\geq3$. Moreover, they conjectured that $γ^{ID}(K_q^3)=q^2$. In this article, we show that $γ^{ID}(K_q^3)\leq q^2-q/4$ when $q$ is a power of four, disproving the conjecture. Our approach is based on the recursive use of suitable designs. Goddard and Wash also gave the following lower bound $γ^{ID}(K_q^3)\ge q^2-q\sqrt{q}$. We improve this bound to $γ^{ID}(K_q^3)\ge q^2-\frac{3}{2} q$. The conventional methods used for obtaining lower bounds on identifying codes do not help here. Hence, we provide a different technique building on the approach of Goddard and Wash. Moreover, we improve the above mentioned bound $γ^{ID}(K_q^n)\leq q^{n-1}$ to $γ^{ID}(K_q^n)\leq q^{n-k}$ for $n=3\frac{q^k-1}{q-1}$ when $q$ is a prime power. For this bound, we utilize suitable linear codes over finite fields and a class of closely related codes, namely, the self-locating-dominating codes. In addition, we show that the self-locating-dominating codes satisfy the result $γ^{SLD}(K_q^3)=q^2$ related to the above conjecture.
Partitioning Edge-Coloured Complete Symmetric Digraphs into Monochromatic Complete Subgraphs
Let $K_{\mathbb{N}}$ be the complete symmetric digraph on the positive integers. Answering a question of DeBiasio and McKenney, we construct a $2$-colouring of the edges of $K_{\mathbb{N}}$ in which every monochromatic path has density~$0$.
However, if we restrict the length of monochromatic paths in one colour, then no example as above can exist: We show that every $(r+1)$-edge-coloured complete symmetric digraph (of arbitrary infinite cardinality) containing no directed paths of edge-length $\ell_i$ for any colour $i\leq r$ can be covered by $\prod_{i\leq r} \ell_i$ pairwise disjoint monochromatic complete symmetric digraphs in colour $r+1$.
Furthermore, we present a stability version for the countable case of the latter result: We prove that the edge-colouring is uniquely determined on a large subgraph, as soon as the upper density of monochromatic paths in colour $r+1$ is bounded by $\prod_{i\in [r]}\frac{1}{\ell_i}$.
Morphism extension classes of countable $L$-colored graphs
In~\cite{Hartman:2014}, Hartman, Hubi\v cka and Ma\v sulović studied the hierarchy of morphism extension classes for finite $L$-colored graphs, that is, undirected graphs without loops where sets of colors selected from $L$ are assigned to vertices and edges. They proved that when $L$ is a linear order, the classes $MH_L$ and $HH_L$ coincide, and the same is true for vertex-uniform finite $L$-colored graphs when $L$ is a diamond. In this paper, we explore the same question for countably infinite $L$-colored graphs. We prove that $MH_L=HH_L$ if and only if $L$ is a linear order.
Eulerian polynomials on segmented permutations
We define a generalization of the Eulerian polynomials and the Eulerian numbers by considering a descent statistic on segmented permutations coming from the study of 2-species exclusion processes and a change of basis in a Hopf algebra. We give some properties satisfied by these generalized Eulerian numbers. We also define a $q$-analog of these Eulerian polynomials which gives back usual Eulerian polynomials and ordered Bell polynomials for specific values of its variables. We also define a noncommutative analog living in the algebra of segmented compositions. It gives us an explicit generating function and some identities satisfied by the generalized Eulerian polynomials such as a Worpitzky-type relation.

Notions of rank abound in the literature on tensor decomposition. We prove that strength, recently introduced for homogeneous polynomials by Ananyan-Hochster in their proof of Stillman's conjecture and generalised here to other tensors, is universal among these ranks in the following sense: any non-trivial Zariski-closed condition on tensors that is functorial in the underlying vector space implies bounded strength. This generalises a theorem by Derksen-Eggermont-Snowden on cubic polynomials, as well as a theorem by Kazhdan-Ziegler which says that a polynomial all of whose directional derivatives have bounded strength must itself have bounded strength.
A New Perspective on FO Model Checking of Dense Graph Classes
We study the first-order (FO) model checking problem of dense graphs, namely those which have FO interpretations in (or are FO transductions of) some sparse graph classes. We give a structural characterization of the graph classes which are FO interpretable in graphs of bounded degree. This characterization allows us to efficiently compute such an FO interpretation for an input graph. As a consequence, we obtain an FPT algorithm for successor-invariant FO model checking of any graph class which is FO interpretable in (or an FO transduction of) a graph class of bounded degree. The approach we use to obtain these results may also be of independent interest.

In this short note, the purpose is to provide an upper bound for the b-chromatic number of Kneser graphs. Our bound improves the upper bound that was presented by Balakrishnan and Kavaskar in [b-coloring of Kneser graphs, Discrete Appl. Math. 160 (2012), 9-14].
Coloring even-hole-free graphs with no star cutset
A \emph{hole} is a chordless cycle of length at least $4$. A graph is \emph{even-hole-free} if it does not contain any hole of even length as an induced subgraph. In this paper, we study the class of even-hole-free graphs with no star cutset. We give the optimal upper bound for its chromatic number in terms of clique number and a polynomial-time algorithm to color any graph in this class. The latter is, in fact, a direct consequence of our proof that this class has bounded rank-width.
Connected greedy colouring in claw-free graphs
An ordering of the vertices of a graph is \emph{connected} if every vertex (but the first) has a neighbor among its predecessors. The greedy colouring algorithm of a graph with a connected order consists in taking the vertices in order, and assigning to each vertex the smallest available colour. A graph is \emph{good} if the greedy algorithm on every connected order gives every connected induced subgraph of it an optimal colouring. We give the characterization of good claw-free graphs in terms of minimal forbidden induced subgraphs.
