By using the Newton interpolation formula, we generalize the recent identities on the Catalan triangle obtained by Miana and Romero as well as those of Chen and Chu. We further study divisibility properties of sums of products of binomial coefficients and an odd power of a natural number. For example, we prove that for all positive integers $n_1, ..., n_m$, $n_{m+1}=n_1$, and any nonnegative integer $r$, the expression $$n_1^{-1}{n_1+n_{m}\choose n_1}^{-1} \sum_{k=1}^{n_1}k^{2r+1}\prod_{i=1}^{m} {n_i+n_{i+1}\choose n_i+k}$$ is either an integer or a half-integer. Moreover, several related conjectures are proposed.

A {\em pointed partition} of $n$ is a pair $(λ, v)$ where $λ\vdash n$ and $v$ is a cell in its Ferrers diagram. We construct an involution on pointed partitions of $n$ exchanging "hook length" and "part length". This gives a bijective proof of a recent result of Bessenrodt and Han.
Combinatorial interpretations of the Jacobi-Stirling numbers

The Jacobi-Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds were introduced in 2006 in the spectral theory and are polynomial refinements of the Legendre-Stirling numbers. Andrews and Littlejohn have recently given a combinatorial interpretation for the second kind of the latter numbers. Noticing that these numbers are very similar to the classical central factorial numbers, we give combinatorial interpretations for the Jacobi-Stirling numbers of both kinds, which provide a unified treatment of the combinatorial theories for the two previous sequences and also for the Stirling numbers of both kinds.

Two well-known $q$-Hermite polynomials are the continuous and discrete $q$-Hermite polynomials. In this paper we consider a new family of $q$-Hermite polynomials and prove several curious properties about these polynomials. One striking property is the connection with $q$-Fibonacci and $q$-Lucas polynomials. The latter relation yields a generalization of the Touchard-Riordan formula.

Ismail et al. (Constr. Approx. {\bf 15} (1999) 69--81) proved the positivity of some trigonometric polynomials with single binomial coefficients. In this paper, we prove some similar results by replacing the binomial coefficients with products of two binomial coefficients.

We describe various aspects of the Al-Salam-Chihara $q$-Laguerre polynomials. These include combinatorial descriptions of the polynomials, the moments, the orthogonality relation and a combinatorial interpretation of the linearization coefficients. It is remarkable that the corresponding moment sequence appears also in the recent work of Postnikov and Williams on enumeration of totally positive Grassmann cells.
Derangements and Euler's difference table for $C_\ell\wr S_n$

Euler's difference table associated to the sequence $\{n!\}$ leads naturally to the counting formula for the derangements. In this paper we study Euler's difference table associated to the sequence $\{\ell^n n!\}$ and the generalized derangement problem. For the coefficients appearing in the later table we will give the combinatorial interpretations in terms of two kinds of $k$-successions of the group $C_\ell\wr S_n$. In particular for $\ell=1$ we recover the known results for the symmetric groups while for $\ell=2$ we obtain the corresponding results for the hyperoctahedral groups.

In 1997 Clarke et al. studied a $q$-analogue of Euler's difference table for $n!$ using a key bijection $Ψ$ on symmetric groups. In this paper we extend their results to the wreath product of a cyclic group with the symmetric group. In particular we obtain a new mahonian statistic \emph{fmaf} on wreath products. We also show that Foata and Han's two recent transformations on the symmetric groups provide indeed a factorization of $Ψ$.

Generalizing a classical problem in enumerative combinatorics, Mansour and Sun counted the number of subsets of $\Z_n$ without certain separations. Chen, Wang, and Zhang then studied the problem of partitioning $\Z_n$ into arithmetical progressions of a given type under some technical conditions. In this paper, we improve on their main theorems by applying a convolution formula for cyclic multinomial coefficients due to Raney-Mohanty.
A bijective enumeration of labeled trees with given indegree sequence

For a labeled tree on the vertex set $\set{1,2,\ldots,n}$, the local direction of each edge $(i\,j)$ is from $i$ to $j$ if $i<j$. For a rooted tree, there is also a natural global direction of edges towards the root. The number of edges pointing to a vertex is called its indegree. Thus the local (resp. global) indegree sequence $λ= 1^{e_1}2^{e_2} \ldots$ of a tree on the vertex set $\set{1,2,\ldots,n}$ is a partition of $n-1$. We construct a bijection from (unrooted) trees to rooted trees such that the local indegree sequence of a (unrooted) tree equals the global indegree sequence of the corresponding rooted tree. Combining with a Prüfer-like code for rooted labeled trees, we obtain a bijective proof of a recent conjecture by Cotterill and also solve two open problems proposed by Du and Yin. We also prove a $q$-multisum binomial coefficient identity which confirms another conjecture of Cotterill in a very special case.

We show connections between a special type of addition formulas and a theorem of Stieltjes and Rogers. We use different techniques to derive the desirable addition formulas. We apply our approach to derive special addition theorems for Bessel functions and confluent hypergeometric functions. We also derive several additions theorems for basic hypergeometric functions. Applications to the evaluation of Hankel determinants are also given .
Euler-Mahonian Statistics On Ordered Set Partitions (II)

We study statistics on ordered set partitions whose generating functions are related to $p,q$-Stirling numbers of the second kind. The main purpose of this paper is to provide bijective proofs of all the conjectures of \stein (Arxiv:math.CO/0605670). Our basic idea is to encode ordered partitions by a kind of path diagrams and explore the rich combinatorial properties of the latter structure. We also give a partition version of MacMahon's theorem on the equidistribution of the statistics inversion number and major index on words.

Motivated by the resemblance of a multivariate series identity and a finite analogue of Euler's pentagonal number theorem, we study multiple extensions of the latter formula. In a different direction we derive a common extension of this multivariate series identity and two formulas of Lucas. Finally we give a combinatorial proof of Lucas' formulas.
Statistics on Ordered Partitions of Sets and q-Stirling Numbers
An ordered partition of [n]:={1,2,..., n} is a sequence of its disjoint subsets whose union is [n]. The number of ordered partitions of [n] with k blocks is k!S(n,k), where S(n,k) is the Stirling number of second kind. In this paper we prove some refinements of this formula by showing that the generating function of some statistics on the set of ordered partitions of [n] with k blocks is a natural $q$-analogue of k!S(n,k). In particular, we prove several conjectures of Steingrímsson. To this end, we construct a mapping from ordered partitions to walks in some digraphs and then, thanks to transfer-matrix method, we determine the corresponding generating functions by determinantal computations.

We present two general finite extensions for each of the two Rogers-Ramanujan identities. Of these one can be derived directly from Watson's transformation formula by specialization or through Bailey's method, the second similar formula can be proved either by using the first formula and the q-Gosper algorithm, or through the so-called Bailey lattice.

We construct an involution on set partitions which keeps track of the numbers of crossings, nestings and alignments of two edges.
We derive then the symmetric distribution of the numbers of crossings and nestings in partitions, which generalizes Klazar's recent result in perfect matchings. By factorizing our involution through bijections between set partitions and some path diagrams we obtain the continued fraction expansions of the corresponding ordinary generating functions.

Generalizing a sequence of Lambert, Cayley and Ramanujan, Chapoton has recently introduced a polynomial sequence Q_n:=Q_n(x,y,z,t) defined by Q_1=1, Q_{n+1}=[x+nz+(y+t)(n+y\partial_y)]Q_n. In this paper we prove Chapoton's conjecture on the duality formula: Q_n(x,y,z,t)=Q_n(x+nz+nt,y,-t,-z), and answer his question about the combinatorial interpretation of Q_n. Actually we give combinatorial interpretations of these polynomials in terms of plane trees, half-mobile trees, and forests of plane trees. Our approach also leads to a general formula that unifies several known results for enumerating trees and plane trees.

In this paper we study the factors of some alternating sums of products of binomial and q-binomial coefficients. We prove that for all positive integers n_1,...,n_m, n_{m+1}=n_1, and 0\leq j\leq m-1, {n_1+n_{m}\brack n_1}^{-1}\sum_{k=-n_1}^{n_1}(-1)^kq^{jk^2+{k\choose 2}} \prod_{i=1}^m {n_i+n_{i+1}\brack n_i+k}\in \N[q], which generalizes a result of Calkin [Acta Arith. 86 (1998), 17--26]. Moreover, we show that for all positive integers n, r and j, {2n\brack n}^{-1}{2j\brack j} \sum_{k=j}^n(-1)^{n-k}q^{A}\frac{1-q^{2k+1}}{1-q^{n+k+1}} {2n\brack n-k}{k+j\brack k-j}^r\in N[q], where A=(r-1){n\choose 2}+r{j+1\choose 2}+{k\choose 2}-rjk, which solves a problem raised by Zudilin [Electron. J. Combin. 11 (2004), #R22].

Recently, Guo and Zeng discovered two families of polynomials featuring in a q-analogue of Faulhaber's formula for the sums of powers and a q-analogue of Gessel-Viennot's formula involving Salie's coefficients for the alternating sums of powers. In this paper, we show that these are polynomials with symmetric, nonnegative integral coefficients by refining Gessel-Viennot's combinatorial interpretations.
