Free Products and the Isomorphism between Standard and Dual Artin Groups
Given a Coxeter system with a fixed Coxeter element, there is a surjective group morphism $Ψ$ from the standard to the dual Artin groups. We give conditions that are sufficient, necessary or equivalent to $Ψ$ being an isomorphism. In particular, we prove that if the Hurwitz action on the reduced words of any element in the noncrossing partition poset is transitive, and if the Hurwitz action on the reduced words of the Coxeter element has the same stabilizer as essentially the same action viewed in the standard Artin group, then $Ψ$ is an isomorphism. Both of those conditions are already known in some cases, notably in spherical and affine types. We then prove that taking the free (or direct) product of groups that satisfy those two conditions yields another group that, with a suitable Coxeter element, also satisfies them.
Non-commutative friezes and their determinants, the non-commutative Laurent phenomenon for weak friezes, and frieze gluing
This paper studies a non-commutative generalisation of Coxeter friezes due to Berenstein and Retakh. It generalises several earlier results to this situation: A formula for frieze determinants, a $T$-path formula expressing the Laurent phenomenon, and results on gluing friezes together. One of our tools is a non-commutative version of the weak friezes introduced by Canakci and Jorgensen.
Friezes from surfaces and Farey triangulation
We provide a classification of positive integral friezes on marked bordered surfaces in the style of Conway and Coxeter. More precisely, we prove that positive integral friezes are in one-to-one correspondence with ideal triangulations supplied with a collection of rescaling constants assigned to punctures. For every triangulation the set of the collections of constants is finite and is completely determined by the valencies of vertices in the triangulation. In particular, it follows that the number of non-equivalent friezes on bordered surfaces is finite, and all friezes on unpunctured surfaces are unitary.

We are interested in conjecturing the sign of the pizza quantity P(H,B(a,R)) for the irreducible Coxeter arrangements H of type A_n, where n=2,3 bmod 4, and type D_n, where n is odd. Our approach is to express the pizza quantity in terms of the pizza quantity of subarrangements known as 2-structures, and we obtain the first non-zero term in the multivariate Taylor expansion.
Folded galleries and moment graphs
We characterize folding patterns, the combinatorial options of folding minimal alcove-to-alcove galleries in affine Coxeter complexes positively with respect to Weyl chamber orientations of the Coxeter complex, by drawing a connection to the Bruhat moment graph of the associated spherical Coxeter group. We also prove how to determine the spherical direction of the end alcove of a positively folded gallery using these graphs.

Classification of weak Bruhat interval modules of $0$-Hecke algebras
Weak Bruhat interval modules of the $0$-Hecke algebra in type $A$ provide a uniform approach to studying modules associated with noteworthy families of quasisymmetric functions. Recently this kind of modules were generalized from type $A$ to all Coxeter types. In this paper, we give an equivalent description, in a type-independent manner, when two left weak Bruhat intervals in a Coxeter group are descent-preserving isomorphic. As an application, we classify all left weak Bruhat interval modules of $0$-Hecke algebras up to isomorphism, and thereby answer an open question and resolve in the affirmative a conjecture of Jung, Kim, Lee, and Oh. Additionally, for finite Coxeter groups we show that the set of minimum (or maximum) elements of all left weak Bruhat intervals in each descent-preserving isomorphism class forms an interval under the right weak Bruhat order.
A study of nil Hecke algebras via Hopf algebroids
Hopf algebroids are generalizations of Hopf algebras to less commutative settings. We show how the comultiplication defined by Kostant and Kumar turns the affine nil Hecke algebra associated to a Coxeter system into a Hopf algebroid without an antipode. The proof relies on mixed dihedral braid relations between Demazure operators and simple reflections. For researchers new to Hopf algebroids we include additional examples from ring theory, representation theory, and algebraic geometry.
Hall-Littlewood polynomials, affine Schubert series, and lattice enumeration
We introduce multivariate rational generating series called Hall-Littlewood-Schubert ($\mathsf{HLS}_n$) series. They are defined in terms of polynomials related to Hall-Littlewood polynomials and semistandard Young tableaux. We show that $\mathsf{HLS}_n$ series provide solutions to a range of enumeration problems upon judicious substitutions of their variables. These include the problem to enumerate sublattices of a $p$-adic lattice according to the elementary divisor types of their intersections with the members of a complete flag of reference in the ambient lattice. This is an affine analog of the stratification of Grassmannians by Schubert varieties. Other substitutions of $\mathsf{HLS}_n$ series yield new formulae for Hecke series and $p$-adic integrals associated with symplectic $p$-adic groups, and combinatorially defined quiver representation zeta functions. $\mathsf{HLS}_n$ series are $q$-analogs of Hilbert series of Stanley-Reisner rings associated with posets arising from parabolic quotients of Coxeter groups of type $\mathsf{B}$ with the Bruhat order. Special values of coarsened $\mathsf{HLS}_n$ series yield analogs of the classical Littlewood identity for the generating functions of Schur polynomials.
Triply Graded Link Homology for Coxeter Braids on 4 Strands
We compute the triply graded Khovanov-Rozansky homology for Coxeter braids on 4 strands.
Polyhedral volume ratios, Izmestiev's Colin de Verdiere matrices and Spectral Gaps
We present a relation between volumes of certain lower dimensional simplices associated to a full-dimensional primal and polar dual polytope in R^k. We then discuss an application of this relation to a geometric construction of a Colin de Verdiere matrix by Ivan Izmestiev. In the second part of the paper, we introduce a variation of vertex transitive polytopes, translate their associated Colin de Verdiere matrices into random walk matrices, and investigate extremality properties of the spectral gaps of these random walk matrices in two concrete examples - permutahedra of Coxeter groups and polytopes associated to the pure rotational tetrahedral group - where maximal spectral gaps correspond to equilateral polytopes.
Coxeter groups and Billey-Postnikov decompositions
In this chapter, we give an overview of Billey-Postnikov (BP) decompositions which have become an important tool for understanding the geometry and combinatorics of Schubert varieties. BP decompositions are factorizations of Coxeter group elements with many nice properties in relation to Bruhat partial order. They have played an important role in the classification and enumeration of smooth Schubert varieties. They have also been used in the study of inversion hyperplane arrangements and permutation pattern avoidance. We survey many of these applications.
Braid graphs in simply-laced triangle-free Coxeter systems are median
Any two reduced expressions for the same Coxeter group element are related by a sequence of commutation and braid moves. Two reduced expressions are said to be braid equivalent if they are related via a sequence of braid moves. Braid equivalence is an equivalence relation and the corresponding equivalence classes are called braid classes. Each braid class can be encoded in terms of a braid graph in a natural way. In a recent paper, Awik et al.~proved that when a Coxeter system is simply laced and triangle free (i.e., the corresponding Coxeter graph has no three-cycles), the braid graph for a reduced expression is a partial cube (i.e., isometric to a subgraph of a hypercube). In this paper, we will provide an alternate proof of this fact, as well as determine the minimal dimension hypercube into which a braid graph can be isometrically embedded, which addresses an open question posed by Awik et al. For our main result, we prove that braid graphs in simply-laced triangle-free Coxeter systems are median, which is a strengthening of previous results.
Stirling numbers for complex reflection groups
In an earlier paper, we defined and studied q-analogues of the Stirling numbers of both types for the Coxeter group of type B. In the present work, we show how this approach can be extended to all irreducible complex reflection groups G. The Stirling numbers of the first and second kind are defined via the Whitney numbers of the first and second kind, respectively, of the intersection lattice of G. For the groups G(m,p,n), these numbers and polynomials can be given combinatorial interpretations in terms of various statistics. The ordered version of ths q-Stirling numbers of the second kind also show up in conjectured Hilbert series for certain super coinvariant algebras.
On Bott--Samelson rings for Coxeter groups
We study the cohomology ring of the Bott--Samelson variety. We compute an explicit presentation of this ring via Soergel's result, which implies that it is a purely combinatorial invariant. We use the presentation to introduce the Bott--Samelson ring associated with a word in arbitrary Coxeter system by generators and relations. In general, it is a split quadratic complete intersection algebra with a triangular pattern of relations. By a result of Tate, it follows that it is a Koszul algebra and we provide a quadratic (reduced) Gr{ö}bner basis. Furthermore, we prove that it satisfies the whole Kähler package, including the Poincaré duality, the hard Lefschetz theorem, and the Hodge--Riemann bilinear relations.
Reduced words for reflections in Weyl groups
The reflections in a Coxeter group are defined as conjugates of a single generator, and thus admit palindromic expressions as products of generators. Our main result gives closed formulas providing a palindromic reduced expression for each reflection in any finite Weyl group. There exist algorithmic methods for determining such reduced expressions, but explicit formulas have not been recorded outside of well-known special cases.
Gamma vectors as inverted Chebyshev expansions, type A to B transformations, and connections to algebraic structures
Given a reciprocal/palindromic polynomial of even degree, we show that the gamma vector is essentially given by an inverted Chebyshev polynomial basis expansion. As an immediate consequence, we characterize real-rootedness of a linear combination of Chebyshev polynomials in terms of real-rootedness of that of the reciprocal polynomial built out of an inverted scaled tuple of the coefficients with one fixed and the rest divided by 2. It can be taken as a counterpart for arbitrary dimensions of a recent result of Bel-Afia--Meroni--Telen on hyperbolicity of Chebyshev curves with respect to the origin. In general, Chebyshev varieties serve as a counterpart of toric varieties in sparse polynomial root finding. Apart from this, the inverted Chebyshev expansion also yields connections between intrinsic properties of the gamma vector construction and the geometric combinatorics of simplicial complexes and posets.
We find this by applying work of Hetyei on Tchebyshev subdivisions and Tchebyshev posets. In particular, we find that the gamma vector transformation is closely related to $f$-vectors of simplicial complexes resulting from successive edge subdivisions that transform the type A Coxeter complex to the type B Coxeter complex. Lifting to this to a modification of $cd$-indices, we show that the gamma vector inverted Chebyshev polynomial expansion lifts to a sum of (subdivisions of) cross polytopes which can be computed using (topological) descent statistics. While there are many examples where gamma positivity involving descent statistics, it is interesting to note we only assume the input polynomial is reciprocal/palindromic. Finally, Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind from derivatives give connections to Hopf algebras and quasisymmetric functions along with Lefschetz-type maps induced by $\mathfrak{sl}_2(\mathbb{C})$-representations.
Number of roots of the continuant over a finite local ring
The aim of this article is to obtain a formula giving, for a positive integer $n$, the number of roots of the $n^{th}$ continuant polynomial over a finite local ring. In particular, we will give counting formulae for the roots of the continuant over the local rings $\mathbb{F}_{q}$, $\mathbb{Z}/p^{m}\mathbb{Z}$ and $\frac{\mathbb{F}_{q}[X]}{<X^{m}>}$. To conclude, the methods used for the continuant will allow us to give a new and short proof of the counting formulae for $λ$-quiddities (which are the solutions of a matrix equation appearing in the study of Coxeter's friezes) over the rings $\mathbb{Z}/p^{m}\mathbb{Z}$.
Khovanov-Rozansky homology of Coxeter knots and Schröder polynomials for paths under any line
We introduce a family of generalized Schröder polynomials $S_τ(q,t,a)$, indexed by triangular partitions $τ$ and prove that $S_τ(q,t,a)$ agrees with the Poincaré series of the triply graded Khovanov-Rozansky homology of the Coxeter knot $K_τ$ associated to $τ$. For all integers $m,n,d\geq 1$ with $m,n$ relatively prime, the $(d,mnd+1)$-cable of the torus knot $T(m,n)$ appears as a special case. It is known that these knots are algebraic, and as a result we obtain a proof of the $q=1$ specialization of the Oblomkov-Rasmussen-Shende conjecture for these knots. Finally, we show that our Schröder polynomial computes the hook components in the Schur expansion of the symmetric function appearing in the shuffle theorem under any line, thus proving a triangular version of the $(q,t)$-Schröder theorem.
The Demazure product extended to biwords
The symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$ (and more generally, any Coxeter group) admits an associative operation known as the Demazure product. In this paper, we first extend the Demazure product to the (infinite) set of all biwords on $\{1, \ldots, n\}$, or equivalently, the set of all $n \times n$ nonnegative integer matrices. We define this product diagrammatically, via braid-like graphs we call kelp beds, since they significantly generalize the seaweeds introduced by Tiskin (2015). Our motivation for this extended Demazure product arises from optimization theory, in particular the semigroup of all $(n+1) \times (n+1)$ simple nonnegative integer Monge matrices equipped with the distance (i.e., min-plus) product. As our main result, we show that this semigroup of Monge matrices is isomorphic to the semigroup of biwords equipped with the extended Demazure product. We exploit this isomorphism to write down generating functions for the growth series of the Monge matrices with respect to certain natural matrix norms.
