Éléments de comptage sur les générateurs du groupe modulaire et les $λ$-quiddités
The aim of this article is to count the $n$-tuples of positive integers $(a_{1},\ldots,a_{n})$ solutions of the equation $\begin{pmatrix} a_{n} & -1 \\[4pt] 1 & 0 \end{pmatrix} \begin{pmatrix} a_{n-1} & -1 \\[4pt] 1 & 0 \end{pmatrix} \cdots \begin{pmatrix} a_{1} & -1 \\[4pt] 1 & 0 \end{pmatrix}=\pm M$ when $M$ is equal to the generators of the modular group $S=\begin{pmatrix} 0 & -1 \\[4pt] 1 & 0 \end{pmatrix}$ and $T=\begin{pmatrix} 1 & 1 \\[4pt] 0 & 1 \end{pmatrix}$. To count these elements, we will study the $λ$-quiddities, which are the solutions of the equation in the case $M=Id$ (related to Coxeter's friezes), whose last component is fixed.

Combinatorics of affine cactus groups
This article deals with the study of affine cactus groups from a combinatorial point of view. Those groups are extensions of cactus groups, which are related to braid and diagram groups and have gained an important place in many mathematics topics. We first show that affine cactus groups may be described as cactus groups on Coxeter groups of type eAn. Then, we prove that these groups embed into a semi-direct product of Coxeter groups, which allows us to obtain a number of combinatorial properties of affine cactus groups, such as the solubility of the world problem or the fact that their centre is trivial.
Random Subwords and Billiard Walks in Affine Weyl Groups
Let $W$ be an irreducible affine Weyl group, and let $\mathsf{b}$ be a finite word over the alphabet of simple reflections of $W$. Fix a probability $p\in(0,1)$. For each integer $K\geq 0$, let $\mathsf{sub}_p(\mathsf{b}^K)$ be the random subword of $\mathsf{b}^K$ obtained by deleting each letter independently with probability $1-p$. Let $v_p(\mathsf{b}^K)$ be the element of $W$ represented by $\mathsf{sub}_p(\mathsf{b}^K)$. One can view $v_p(\mathsf{b}^K)$ geometrically as a random alcove; in many cases, this alcove can be seen as the location after a certain amount of time of a random billiard trajectory that, upon hitting a hyperplane in the Coxeter arrangement of $W$, reflects off of the hyperplane with probability $1-p$. We show that the asymptotic distribution of $v_p(\mathsf{b}^K)$ is a central spherical multivariate normal distribution with some variance $σ_{\mathsf{b}}^2$ depending on $\mathsf{b}$ and $p$. We provide a formula to compute $σ_{\mathsf{b}}^2$ that is remarkably simple when $\mathsf{b}$ contains only one occurrence of the simple reflection that is not in the associated finite Weyl group. As a corollary, we provide an asymptotic formula for $\mathbb{E}[\ell(v_p(\mathsf{b}^K))]$, the expected Coxeter length of $v_p(\mathsf{b}^K)$. For example, when $W=\widetilde A_{r}$ and $\mathsf{b}$ contains each simple reflection exactly once, we find that \[\lim_{K\to\infty}\frac{1}{\sqrt{K}}\mathbb{E}[\ell(v_p(\mathsf{b}^K))]=\sqrt{\frac{2}πr(r+1)\frac{p}{1-p}}.\]

Auslander regular algebras and Coxeter matrices
We show that Iyama's grade bijection for Auslander-Gorenstein algebras coincides with the bijection introduced by Auslander-Reiten. This result uses a new characterisation of Auslander-Gorenstein algebras. Furthermore, we show that the grade bijection of an Auslander regular algebra coincides with the permutation matrix P in the Bruhat factorisation of the Coxeter matrix. This gives a new, purely linear algebraic interpretation of the grade bijection and allows us to calculate it in a much quicker way than was previously known. We give several applications of our main results. First, we show that the permanent of the Coxeter matrix of an Auslander regular algebra is either 1 or -1. Second, we obtain a new combinatorial characterisation of distributive lattices among the class of finite lattices. Explicitly, a lattice is distributive if and only if its Coxeter matrix can be written as PU where P is a permutation matrix and U is an upper triangular matrix. Other applications include new homological results about modules in blocks of category $\mathcal{O}$ of semisimple Lie algebras.

The Lehmer complex of a Bruhat interval
We introduce Lehmer codes, with immersions in the Bruhat order, for several finite Coxeter groups, including all the classical Weyl groups. This allows to associate to each lower Bruhat interval of these groups a multicomplex whose f-polynomial is the Poincaré polynomial of the interval. Via a general construction, we prove that these polynomials are h-polynomials of vertex-decomposable simplicial complexes. Moreover we provide a classification, in terms of unimodal permutations, of Poincaré polynomials of smooth Schubert varieties in flag manifolds.

Fundamental polytope for the isometry group of an alcove
A fundamental alcove $\mathcal{A}$ is a tile in a paving of a vector space $V$ by an affine reflection group $W_{\mathrm{aff}}$. Its geometry encodes essential features of $W_{\mathrm{aff}}$, such as its affine Dynkin diagram $\widetilde{D}$ and fundamental group $Ω$. In this article we investigate its full isometry group $\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{A})$. It is well known that the isometry group of a regular polyhedron is generated by hyperplane reflections on its faces. Being a simplex, an alcove $\mathcal{A}$ is the simplest of polyhedra, nevertheless it is seldom a regular one. In our first main result we show that $\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{A})$ is isomorphic to $\mathrm{Aut}(\widetilde{D})$. Building on this connection, we establish that $\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{A})$ is an abstract Coxeter group, with generators given by affine isometric involutions of the ambient space. Although these involutions are seldom reflections, our second main result leverages them to construct, by slicing the Komrakov--Premet fundamental polytope $\mathcal{K}$ for the action of $Ω$, a family of fundamental polytopes for the action of $\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{A})$ on $\mathcal{A}$, whose vertices are contained in the vertices of $\mathcal{K}$ and whose faces are parametrized by the so-called balanced minuscule roots, which we introduce here. In an appendix, we discuss some related negative results on stratified centralizers and equivariant triangulations.

Abstract Regular Polytopes of Finite Irreducible Coxeter Groups
Here, for $W$ the Coxeter group $\mathrm{D}_n$ where $n > 4$, it is proved that the maximal rank of an abstract regular polytope for $W$ is $n - 1$ if $n$ is even and $n$ if $n$ is odd. Further it is shown that $W$ has abstract regular polytopes of rank $r$ for all $r$ such that $3 \leq r \leq n - 1$, if $n$ is even, and $3 \leq r \leq n$, if $n$ is odd. The possible ranks of abstract regular polytopes for the exceptional finite irreducible Coxeter groups are also determined.

A counterexample to a Brenti-Carnevale conjecture
Recently, F. Brenti put a preprint on the arXiv with several interesting open problems on Coxeter groups and unimodality. In this note, we refute one of these conjectures with a counterexample and provide supporting data related to it. This work serves as an initial step toward further exploration of the topic.

The $S_n$-equivariant Euler characteristic of $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{1, n}(\mathbb{P}^r, d)$
We compute the $S_n$-equivariant topological Euler characteristic of the Kontsevich moduli space $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{1, n}(\mathbb{P}^r, d)$. Letting $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{1, n}^{\mathrm{nrt}}(\mathbb{P}^r, d) \subset \overline{\mathcal{M}}_{1, n}(¶^r, d)$ denote the subspace of maps from curves without rational tails, we solve for the motive of $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{1, n}(\mathbb{P}^r, d)$ in terms of $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{1, n}^{\mathrm{nrt}}(\mathbb{P}^r, d)$ and plethysm with a genus-zero contribution determined by Getzler and Pandharipande. Fixing a generic $\mathbb{C}^\star$-action on $\mathbb{P}^r$, we derive a closed formula for the Euler characteristic of $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{1, n}^{\mathrm{nrt}}(\mathbb{P}^r, d)^{\mathbb{C}^\star}$ as an $S_n$-equivariant virtual mixed Hodge structure, which leads to our main formula for the Euler characteristic of $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{1,n}(\mathbb{P}^r, d)$. Our approach connects the geometry of torus actions on Kontsevich moduli spaces with symmetric functions in Coxeter types $A$ and $B$, as well as the enumeration of graph colourings with prescribed symmetry. We also prove a structural result about the $S_n$-equivariant Euler characteristic of $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{g, n}(\mathbb{P}^r, d)$ in arbitrary genus.

A conjecture on descents, inversions and the weak order
In this article, we discuss the notion of partition of elements in an arbitrary Coxeter system $(W,S)$: a partition of an element $w$ is a subset $\mathcal P\subseteq W$ such that the left inversion set of $w$ is the disjoint union of the left inversion set of the elements in $\mathcal P$. Partitions of elements of $W$ arises in the study of the Belkale-Kumar product on the cohomology $H^*(X,\mathbb Z)$, where $X$ is the complete flag variety of any complex semi-simple algebraic group. Partitions of elements in the symmetric group $\mathcal S_n$ are also related to the {\em Babington-Smith model} in algebraic statistics or to the simplicial faces of the Littlewood-Richardson cone. We state the conjecture that the number of right descents of $w$ is the sum of the number of right descents of the elements of $\mathcal P$ and prove that this conjecture holds in the cases of symmetric groups (type $A$) and hyperoctahedral groups (type $B$).

Lusztig $\mathbf{a}$-functions for quasiparabolic sets
Kazhdan and Lusztig introduce the $W$-graphs to describe the cells and molecules corresponding to the Coxeter groups. Building on this foundation, Lusztig defines the a-funtion to classify the cells, as well as the molecules. Marberg then generalizes Kazhdan and Lusztig's $W$-graphs, using fixed-point-free involutions as their indices. The molecules of the two new $S_n$-graphs are then classified via two correspondence similar to RSK correspondence by Marberg and me. In this paper, we define an analogue of the Lusztig a-function and finish the classification of cells by proving that every molecule in the $S_n$-graphs is indeed a cell.

Punctured surfaces, quiver mutations, and quotients of Coxeter groups
In 2011, Barot and Marsh provided an explicit construction of presentation of a finite Weyl group $W$ by any quiver mutation-equivalent to an orientation of a Dynkin diagram with Weyl group $W$. The construction was extended by the authors of the present paper to obtain presentations for all affine Coxeter groups, as well as to construct groups from triangulations of unpunctured surfaces and orbifolds, where the groups are invariant under change of triangulation and thus are presented as quotients of numerous distinct Coxeter groups. We extend the construction to include most punctured surfaces and orbifolds, providing a new invariant for almost all marked surfaces.

The Ehrhart series of alcoved polytopes
Alcoved polytopes are convex polytopes, which are the closure of a union of alcoves in an affine Coxeter arrangement. They are rational polytopes and, therefore, have Ehrhart quasipolynomials. Here we describe a method for computing the generating function of the Ehrhart quasipolynomial, or Ehrhart series, of any alcoved polytope via a particular shelling order of its alcoves. We also show a connection between Early's decorated ordered set partitions and this shelling order for the hypersimplex $Δ_{2,n}$.

Wonderful Compactification of a Cartan Subalgebra of a Semisimple Lie Algebra
Let $\mathfrak h$ be a Cartan subalgebra of a complex semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak g.$ We define a compactification $\bar {\mathfrak h}$ of $\mathfrak h$, which is analogous to the closure $\bar H$ of the corresponding maximal torus $H$ in the adjoint group of $\mathfrak g$ in its wonderful compactification, which was introduced and studied by De Concini and Procesi \cite{DCP}. We observe that $\bar {\mathfrak h}$ is a matroid Schubert variety and prove that the irreducible components of the boundary $\bar {\mathfrak h} - \mathfrak h$ of $\mathfrak h$ are divisors indexed by root system data. We prove that $\bar {\mathfrak h}$ is a normal variety and find an affine paving of $\bar {\mathfrak h},$ where the strata are given by the orbits of $\mathfrak h.$ We show that the strata of $\bar {\mathfrak h}$ correspond bijectively to subspaces of the corresponding Coxeter hyperplane arrangement studied by Orlik and Solomon, and prove that the associated posets are isomorphic. As a consequence, we express the Betti numbers of $\bar {\mathfrak h}$ in terms of well-known combinatorial invariants in the classical cases. We show that the Weyl group $W$ acts on $\bar {\mathfrak h}$, and describe $H^{\bullet}(\bar {\mathfrak h}, \mathbb C)$ as a representation of $W$, and compute the cup product for $H^{\bullet}(\bar {\mathfrak h}, \mathbb Z)$.
Demazure product and hopping in type D
The Demazure product, also called the 0-Hecke product, is an associative operation on Coxeter groups with interesting properties and applications. In (Li et al 2024) it was shown that the Demazure product of two permutations can be described purely combinatorially: using only their one-line notation and not relying on reduced words. In this paper, we extend this to type D Coxeter groups.

Characteristic Polynomials of Deformations of Coxeter Arrangements via levels of regions
We obtain a novel formula for characteristic polynomials of deformations of the Braid arrangement using the notion of levels of regions. As an application, we recover and strengthen results of Chen et al. on the characteristic polynomial of several specific types of hyperplane arrangements via much simpler arguments. Our theorem also generalizes to type B.

Chow functions for partially ordered sets
Three decades ago, Stanley and Brenti initiated the study of the Kazhdan--Lusztig--Stanley (KLS) functions, putting on common ground several polynomials appearing in algebraic combinatorics, discrete geometry, and representation theory. In the present paper we develop a theory that parallels the KLS theory. To each kernel in a given poset, we associate a polynomial function that we call the \emph{Chow function}. The Chow function often exhibits remarkable properties, and sometimes encodes the graded dimensions of a cohomology or Chow ring. The framework of Chow functions provides natural polynomial analogs of graded module decompositions that appear in algebraic geometry, but that work for arbitrary posets, even when no graded module decomposition is known to exist. In this general framework, we prove a number of unimodality and positivity results without relying on versions of the Hard Lefschetz theorem. Our framework shows that there is an unexpected relation between positivity and real-rootedness conjectures about chains on face lattices of polytopes by Brenti and Welker, Hilbert--Poincaré series of matroid Chow rings by Ferroni and Schröter, and flag enumerations on Bruhat intervals of Coxeter groups by Billera and Brenti.

Minkowski ideals and rings
\emph{Minkowski rings} are certain rings of simple functions on the Euclidean space $W = {\mathbb{R}}^d$ with multiplicative structure derived from Minkowski addition of convex polytopes. When the ring is (finitely) generated by a set ${\cal{P}}$ of indicator functions of $n$ polytopes then the ring can be presented as ${\mathbb{C}}[x_1,\ldots,x_n]/I$ when viewed as a ${\mathbb{C}}$-algebra, where $I$ is the ideal describing all the relations implied by identities among Minkowski sums of elements of ${\cal{P}}$. We discuss in detail the $1$-dimensional case, the $d$-dimensional box case and the affine Coxeter arrangement in ${\mathbb{R}}^2$ where the convex sets are formed by closed half-planes with bounding lines making the regular triangular grid in ${\mathbb{R}}^2$. We also consider, for a given polytope $P$, the Minkowski ring $M^\pm_F(P)$ of the collection ${\cal{F}}(P)$ of the nonempty faces of $P$ and their multiplicative inverses. Finally we prove some general properties of identities in the Minkowski ring of ${\cal{F}}(P)$; in particular, we show that Minkowski rings behave well under Cartesian product, namely that $M^\pm_F(P\times Q) \cong M^{\pm}_F(P)\otimes M^{\pm}_F(Q)$ as ${\mathbb{C}}$-algebras where $P$ and $Q$ are polytopes.

Canonical Join Representations and Join-irreducible elements of Garside shadows in Coxeter groups
In this article, we establish some new combinatorial properties of elements in Coxeter groups. Firstly, we generalise Reading's theorem on the canonical join representations of elements in finite Coxeter groups to all finitely generated Coxeter groups. Secondly, we show that for any element $x$ in a Coxeter group $W$ and root $β$ in its inversion set $Φ(x)$, the set of elements $y \in W$ satisfying $Φ(x) \cap Φ(y) = \{ β\} $ is convex in the weak order and admits a unique minimal representative. This is strongly connected to determining the cone type of elements of $W$ and leads to efficient computational methods to determine whether arbitrary elements of $W$ have the same cone type.

Generalized Bäcklund-Darboux transformations for Coxeter-Toda systems on simple Lie groups
We derive the cluster structure on the conjugation quotient Coxeter double Bruhat cells of a simple Lie group from that on the double Bruhat cells of the corresponding adjoint Lie group given by Fock and Goncharov using the notion of amalgamation given by Fock and Goncharov, and Williams, thereby generalizing the construction developed by Gekhtman \emph{et al}. We will then use this cluster structure on the conjugation quotient Coxeter double Bruhat cells to construct generalized Bäcklund-Darboux transformations between two Coxeter-Toda systems on simple Lie groups in terms of cluster mutations, thereby generalizing the construction developed by Gekhtman \emph{et al}. We show that these generalized Bäcklund-Darboux transformations preserve Hamiltonian flows generated by the restriction of the trace function of any representation of the simple Lie group, from which we deduce that the family of Coxeter-Toda systems on a simple Lie group forms a single cluster integrable system. Finally, we also develop network formulations of the Coxeter-Toda Hamiltonians for the classical Lie groups, and use these network formulations to obtain combinatorial formulas for these Coxeter-Toda Hamiltonians.
