The Terwilliger algebra $T(x)$ of a finite connected simple graph $Γ$ with respect to a vertex $x$ is the complex semisimple matrix algebra generated by the adjacency matrix $A$ of $Γ$ and the diagonal matrices $E_i^*(x)=\operatorname{diag}(v_i)$ $(i=0,1,2,\dots)$, where $v_i$ denotes the characteristic vector of the set of vertices at distance $i$ from $x$. The twisted Grassmann graph $\tilde{J}_q(2D+1,D)$ discovered by Van Dam and Koolen in 2005 has two orbits of the automorphism group on its vertex set, and it is known that one of the orbits has the property that $T(x)$ is thin whenever $x$ is chosen from it, i.e., every irreducible $T(x)$-module $W$ satisfies $\dim E_i^*(x)W\leqslant 1$ for all $i$. In this paper, we determine all the irreducible $T(x)$-modules of $\tilde{J}_q(2D+1,D)$ for this "thin" case.

We prove a new Fermionic quasiparticle sum expression for the character of the Ising model vertex algebra, related to the Jackson-Slater $q$-series identity of Rogers-Ramanujan type and to Nahm sums for the matrix $\left( \begin{smallmatrix} 8 & 3 \\ 3 & 2 \end{smallmatrix} \right)$. We find, as consequences, an explicit monomial basis for the Ising model, and a description of its singular support. We find that the ideal sheaf of the latter, defining it as a subscheme of the arc space of its associated scheme, is finitely generated as a differential ideal. We prove three new $q$-series identities of the Rogers-Ramanujan-Slater type associated with the three irreducible modules of the Virasoro Lie algebra of central charge $1/2$. We give a combinatorial interpretation to the identity associated with the vacuum module.
Some unexpected properties of Littlewood-Richardson coefficients

We are interested in identities between Littlewood-Richardson coefficients, and hence in comparing different tensor product decompositions of the irreducible modules of the linear group GL n (C). A family of partitions-called near-rectangular-is defined, and we prove a stability result which basically asserts that the decomposition of the tensor product of two representations associated to near-rectangular partitions does not depend on n. Given a partition $λ$, of length at most n, denote by V n ($λ$) the associated simple GL n (C)-module. We conjecture that, if $λ$ is near-rectangular and $μ$ any partition, the decompositions of V n ($λ$) $\otimes$ V n ($μ$) and V n ($λ$) * $\otimes$ V n ($μ$) coincide modulo a mysterious bijection. We prove this conjecture if $μ$ is also near-rectangular and report several computer-assisted computations which reinforce our conjecture.

The classical coinvariant ring $R_n$ is defined as the quotient of a polynomial ring in $n$ variables by the positive-degree $S_n$-invariants. It has a known basis that respects the decomposition of $R_n$ into irreducible $S_n$-modules, consisting of the higher specht polynomials due to Ariki, Terasoma, and Yamada.
We provide an extension of the higher Specht basis to the generalized coinvariant rings $R_{n,k}$. We also give a conjectured higher Specht basis for the Garsia-Procesi modules $R_μ$, and provide a proof of the conjecture in the case of two-row partition shapes $μ$. We then combine these results to give a higher Specht basis for an infinite subfamily of the modules $R_{n,k,μ}$ recently defined by Griffin, which are a common generalization of $R_{n,k}$ and $R_μ$.

Assume that $\mathbb F$ is an algebraically closed field and let $q$ denote a nonzero scalar in $\mathbb F$ that is not a root of unity. The universal Askey--Wilson algebra $\triangle_q$ is a unital associative $\mathbb F$-algebra defined by generators and relations. The generators are $A,B, C$ and the relations state that each of $$ A+\frac{q BC-q^{-1} CB}{q^2-q^{-2}}, \qquad B+\frac{q CA-q^{-1} AC}{q^2-q^{-2}}, \qquad C+\frac{q AB-q^{-1} BA}{q^2-q^{-2}} $$ is central in $\triangle_q$. The universal DAHA (double affine Hecke algebra) $\mathfrak H_q$ of type $(C_1^\vee,C_1)$ is a unital associative $\mathbb F$-algebra generated by $\{t_i^{\pm 1}\}_{i=0}^3$ and the relations state that \begin{gather*} t_it_i^{-1}=t_i^{-1} t_i=1 \quad \hbox{for all $i=0,1,2,3$}; \\ \hbox{$t_i+t_i^{-1}$ is central} \quad \hbox{for all $i=0,1,2,3$}; \\ t_0t_1t_2t_3=q^{-1}. \end{gather*} Each $\mathfrak H_q$-module is a $\triangle_q$-module by pulling back via the injection $\triangle_q\to \mathfrak H_q$ given by \begin{eqnarray*} A &\mapsto & t_1 t_0+(t_1 t_0)^{-1}, \\ B &\mapsto & t_3 t_0+(t_3 t_0)^{-1}, \\ C &\mapsto & t_2 t_0+(t_2 t_0)^{-1}. \end{eqnarray*} We classify the lattices of $\triangle_q$-submodules of finite-dimensional irreducible $\mathfrak H_q$-modules. As a consequence, for any finite-dimensional irreducible $\mathfrak H_q$-module $V$, the $\triangle_q$-module $V$ is completely reducible if and only if $t_0$ is diagonalizable on $V$.

In the intersection of the theories of nonsymmetric Jack polynomials in $N$ variables and representations of the symmetric groups $\mathcal{S}_{N}$ one finds the singular polynomials. For certain values of the parameter $κ$ there are Jack polynomials which span an irreducible $\mathcal{S}_{N}$-module and are annihilated by the Dunkl operators. The $\mathcal{S}_{N}$-module is labeled by a partition of $N$, called the isotype of the polynomials. In this paper the Jack polynomials are of the vector-valued type, that is, elements of the tensor product of the scalar polynomials with the span of reverse standard Young tableaux of the shape of a fixed partition of $N$. In particular this partition is of shape $\left( m,m,\ldots,m\right) $ with $2k$ components and the constructed singular polynomials are of isotype $\left( mk,mk\right) $ for the parameter $κ=$ $1/\left( m+2\right) $. The paper contains the necessary background on nonsymmetric Jack polynomials and representation theory and explains the role of Jucys-Murphy elements in the construction. The main ingredient is the proof of uniqueness of certain spectral vectors, namely, the list of eigenvalues of the Jack polynomials for the Cherednik-Dunkl operators, when specialized to $κ=1/\left( m+2\right) $. The paper finishes with a discussion of associated maps of modules of the rational Cherednik algebra and an example illustrating the difficulty of finding singular polynomials for arbitrary partitions.
Finite-dimensional modules of the universal Racah algebra and the universal additive DAHA of type $(C_1^\vee,C_1)$
Assume that $\mathbb F$ is an algebraically closed field with characteristic zero. The universal Racah algebra $\Re$ is a unital associative $\mathbb F$-algebra defined by generators and relations. The generators are $A,B, C, D$ and the relations state that $$ [A,B]=[B,C]=[C,A]=2D $$ and each of \begin{gather*} [A,D]+AC-BA, \qquad [B,D]+BA-CB, \qquad [C,D]+CB-AC \end{gather*} is central in $\Re$. The universal additive DAHA (double affine Hecke algebra) $\mathfrak H$ of type $(C_1^\vee,C_1)$ is a unital associative $\mathbb F$-algebra generated by $t_0,t_1,t_0^\vee,t_1^\vee$ and the relations state that $$ t_0+t_1+t_0^\vee+t_1^\vee=-1 $$ and each of $t_0^2, t_1^2, t_0^{\vee 2}, t_1^{\vee 2}$ is central in $\mathfrak H$. Each $\mathfrak H$-module is an $\Re$-module by pulling back via the algebra homomorphism $\Re\to \mathfrak H$ given by \begin{eqnarray*} A &\mapsto & \frac{(t_1^\vee+t_0^\vee)(t_1^\vee+t_0^\vee+2)}{4}, \\ B &\mapsto & \frac{(t_1+t_1^\vee)(t_1+t_1^\vee+2)}{4}, \\ C &\mapsto & \frac{(t_0^\vee+t_1)(t_0^\vee+t_1+2)}{4}. \end{eqnarray*} Let $V$ denote any finite-dimensional irreducible $\mathfrak H$-module. The set of $\Re$-submodules of $V$ forms a lattice under the inclusion partial order. We classify the lattices that arise by this construction. As a consequence, the $\Re$-module $V$ is completely reducible if and only if $t_0$ is diagonalizable on $V$.
Strong minuscule elements in the finite Weyl groups
We introduce the notion of a strong minuscule element, and prove that the dominant integral weight associated to a strong minuscule element is the fundamental weight corresponding to a short simple root. In addition, we enumerate the strong minuscule elements explicitly, and then as an application of this enumeration, determine the dimension of certain Demazure modules in the finite-dimensional irreducible modules whose highest weights are minuscule weights.

This paper defines the partition algebra for complex reflection group $G(r,p,n)$ acting on $k$-fold tensor product $(\mathbb{C}^n)^{\otimes k}$, where $\mathbb{C}^n$ is the reflection representation of $G(r,p,n)$. A basis of the centralizer algebra of this action of $G(r,p,n)$ was given by Tanabe and for $p =1$, the corresponding partition algebra was studied by Orellana. We also establish a subalgebra as partition algebra of a subgroup of $G(r,p,n)$ acting on $(\mathbb{C}^n)^{\otimes k}$. We call these algebras as Tanabe algebras. The aim of this paper is to study representation theory of Tanabe algebras: parametrization of their irreducible modules, and construction of Bratteli diagram for the tower of Tanabe algebras. We conclude the paper by giving Jucys-Murphy elements of Tanabe algebras and their actions on the Gelfand-Tsetlin basis, determined by this multiplicity free tower, of irreducible modules.

We discuss the Grassmann graph $J_q(N,D)$ with $N \geq 2D$, having as vertices the $D$-dimensional subspaces of an $N$-dimensional vector space over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$. This graph is distance-regular with diameter $D$; to avoid trivialities we assume $D\geq 3$. Fix a pair of a Delsarte clique $C$ of $J_q(N,D)$ and a vertex $x$ in $C$. We construct a $2D$-dimensional irreducible module $\mathbf{W}$ for the Terwilliger algebra $\mathbf{T}$ of $J_q(N,D)$ associated with the pair $x$, $C$. We show that $\mathbf{W}$ is an irreducible module for the confluent Cherednik algebra $\mathcal{H}_\mathrm{V}$ and describe how the $\mathbf{T}$-action on $\mathbf{W}$ is related to the $\mathcal{H}_\mathrm{V}$-action on $\mathbf{W}$. Using the $\mathcal{H}_\mathrm{V}$-module $\mathbf{W}$, we define non-symmetric dual $q$-Hahn polynomials and prove their recurrence and orthogonality relations from a combinatorial viewpoint.

Let $L$ be a Levi subgroup of $GL_N$ which acts by left multiplication on a Schubert variety $X(w)$ in the Grassmannian $G_{d,N}$. We say that $X(w)$ is a spherical Schubert variety if $X(w)$ is a spherical variety for the action of $L$. In earlier work we provide a combinatorial description of the decomposition of the homogeneous coordinate ring of $X(w)$ into irreducible $L$-modules for the induced action of $L$. In this work we classify those decompositions into irreducible $L$-modules that are multiplicity-free. This is then applied towards giving a complete classification of the spherical Schubert varieties in the Grassmannian.

The partition algebra is an associative algebra with a basis of set-partition diagrams and multiplication given by diagram concatenation. It contains as subalgebras a large class of diagram algebras including the Brauer, planar partition, rook monoid, rook-Brauer, Temperley-Lieb, Motzkin, planar rook monoid, and symmetric group algebras. We give a construction of the irreducible modules of these algebras in two isomorphic ways: first, as the span of symmetric diagrams on which the algebra acts by conjugation twisted with an irreducible symmetric group representation and, second, on a basis indexed by set-partition tableaux such that diagrams in the algebra act combinatorially on tableaux. The first representation is analogous to the Gelfand model and the second is a generalization of Young's natural representation of the symmetric group on standard tableaux. The methods of this paper work uniformly for the partition algebra and its diagram subalgebras. As an application, we express the characters of each of these algebras as nonnegative integer combinations of symmetric group characters whose coefficients count fixed points under conjugation.
Layer structure of irreducible Lie algebra modules
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a finite-dimensional simple complex Lie algebra. A layer sum is introduced as the sum of formal exponentials of the distinct weights appearing in an irreducible $\mathfrak{g}$-module. It is argued that the character of every finite-dimensional irreducible $\mathfrak{g}$-module admits a decomposition in terms of layer sums, with only non-negative integer coefficients. Ensuing results include a new approach to the computation of Weyl characters and weight multiplicities, and a closed-form expression for the number of distinct weights in a finite-dimensional irreducible $\mathfrak{g}$-module. The latter is given by a polynomial in the Dynkin labels, of degree equal to the rank of $\mathfrak{g}$.

Let $Γ$ denote the Hamming graph $H(D,r)$ with $r \geq 3$. Consider the distance matrices $\{A_i\}_{i=0}^{D}$ of $Γ$. Fix a vertex $x$ of $Γ$, and consider the dual distance matrices $\{A_i^{*}\}_{i=0}^{D}$ of $Γ$ with respect to $x$. We investigate the group commutator $A_{D}^{-1}A_{D}^{*-1}A_{D}A_{D}^{*}$. We show that this matrix is diagonalizable. We compute its eigenvalues and their eigenspaces. Let $T$ denote the subconstituent algebra of $Γ$ with respect to $x$. We describe the action of $A_{D}^{-1}A_{D}^{*-1}A_{D}A_{D}^{*}$ on each irreducible $T$-module.

Let $Γ$ denote a finite, undirected, connected graph, with vertex set $X$. Fix a vertex $x \in X$. Associated with $x$ is a certain subalgebra $T=T(x)$ of ${\rm Mat}_X(\mathbb C)$, called the subconstituent algebra. The algebra $T$ is semisimple. Hora and Obata introduced a certain subalgebra $Q \subseteq T$, called the quantum adjacency algebra. The algebra $Q$ is semisimple. In this paper we investigate how $Q$ and $T$ are related. In many cases $Q=T$, but this is not true in general. To clarify this issue, we introduce the notion of quasi-isomorphic irreducible $T$-modules. We show that the following are equivalent: (i) $Q \neq T$; (ii) there exists a pair of quasi-isomorphic irreducible $T$-modules that have different endpoints. To illustrate this result we consider two examples. The first example concerns the Hamming graphs. The second example concerns the bipartite dual polar graphs. We show that for the first example $Q=T$, and for the second example $Q \neq T$.

Let $Γ$ be a dual polar graph with diameter $D \geqslant 3$, having as vertices the maximal isotropic subspaces of a finite-dimensional vector space over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$ equipped with a non-degenerate form (alternating, quadratic, or Hermitian) with Witt index $D$. From a pair of a vertex $x$ of $Γ$ and a maximal clique $C$ containing $x$, we construct a $2D$-dimensional irreducible module for a nil-DAHA of type $(C^{\vee}_1, C_1)$, and establish its connection to the generalized Terwilliger algebra with respect to $x$, $C$. Using this module, we then define the non-symmetric dual $q$-Krawtchouk polynomials and derive their recurrence and orthogonality relations from the combinatorial points of view. We note that our results do not depend essentially on the particular choice of the pair $x$, $C$, and that all the formulas are described in terms of $q$, $D$, and one other scalar which we assign to $Γ$ based on the type of the form.

The symmetric group $\mathsf{S}_n$ and the partition algebra $\mathsf{P}_k(n)$ centralize one another in their actions on the $k$-fold tensor power $\mathsf{M}_n^{\otimes k}$ of the $n$-dimensional permutation module $\mathsf{M}_n$ of $\mathsf{S}_n$. The duality afforded by the commuting actions determines an algebra homomorphism $Φ_{k,n}: \mathsf{P}_k(n) \to \mathsf{End}_{\mathsf{S}_n}(\mathsf{M}_n^{\otimes k})$ from the partition algebra to the centralizer algebra $\mathsf{End}_{\mathsf{S}_n}(\mathsf{M}_n^{\otimes k})$, which is a surjection for all $k, n \in \mathbb{Z}_{\ge 1}$, and an isomorphism when $n \ge 2k$. We present results that can be derived from the duality between $\mathsf{S}_n$ and $\mathsf{P}_k(n)$; for example, (i) expressions for the multiplicities of the irreducible $\mathsf{S}_n$-summands of $\mathsf{M}_n^{\otimes k}$, (ii) formulas for the dimensions of the irreducible modules for the centralizer algebra $\mathsf{End}_{\mathsf{S}_n}(\mathsf{M}_n^{\otimes k})$, (iii) a bijection between vacillating tableaux and set-partition tableaux, (iv) identities relating Stirling numbers of the second kind and the number of fixed points of permutations, and (v) character values for the partition algebra $\mathsf{P}_k(n)$. When $2k >n$, the map $Φ_{k,n}$ has a nontrivial kernel which is generated as a two-sided ideal by a single idempotent. We describe the kernel and image of $Φ_{k,n}$ in terms of the orbit basis of $\mathsf{P}_k(n)$ and explain how the surjection $Φ_{k,n}$ can also be used to obtain the fundamental theorems of invariant theory for the symmetric group.

In this paper, we introduce an algebra $\mathcal{H}$ from a subspace lattice with respect to a fixed flag which contains its incidence algebra as a proper subalgebra. We then establish a relation between the algebra $\mathcal{H}$ and the quantum affine algebra $U_{q^{1/2}}(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$, where $q$ denotes the cardinality of the base field. It is an extension of the well-known relation between the incidence algebra of a subspace lattice and the quantum algebra $U_{q^{1/2}}(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$. We show that there exists an algebra homomorphism from $U_{q^{1/2}}(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$ to $\mathcal{H}$ and that any irreducible module for $\mathcal{H}$ is irreducible as an $U_{q^{1/2}}(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$-module.

Let $Γ$ denote a bipartite distance-regular graph with diameter $D \ge 4$ and valency $k \ge 3$. Let $X$ denote the vertex set of $Γ$, and let $A$ denote the adjacency matrix of $Γ$. For $x \in X$ let $T=T(x)$ denote the subalgebra of Mat$_X(\mathbb{C}$ generated by $A, E*_0, E*s_1, \ldots, E*_D$, where for $0 \le i \le D$, $E*_i$ represents the projection onto the $i$th subconstituent of $Γ$ with respect to $x$. We refer to $T$ as the {\em Terwilliger algebra} of $Γ$ with respect to $x$. An irreducible $T$-module $W$ is said to be {\em thin} whenever dim $E*_i W \le 1$ for $0 \le i \le D$. By the {\em endpoint} of $W$ we mean min$\{i | E*_iW \ne 0\}$. For $0 \le i \le D$, let $Γ_i(z)$ denote the set of vertices in $X$ that are distance $i$ from vertex $z$. Define a parameter $Δ_2$ in terms of the intersection numbers by $Δ_2 = (k-2)(c_3-1)-(c_2-1)p^2_{22}$. In this paper we prove the following are equivalent: (i) $Δ_2>0$ and for $2 \le i \le D - 2$ there exist complex scalars $α_i, β_i$ with the following property: for all $x, y, z \in X$ such that $\partial(x, y) = 2, \: \partial(x, z) = i, \: \partial(y, z) = i$ we have $ α_i + β_i |Γ_1(x) \cap Γ_1(y) \cap Γ_{i-1}(z)| = |Γ_{i-1}(x) \cap Γ_{i-1}(y) \cap Γ_1(z)|;$ (ii) For all $x \in X$ there exist up to isomorphism exactly two irreducible modules for the Terwilliger algebra $T(x)$ with endpoint two, and these modules are thin.
FFLV-type monomial bases for type $B$
We present a combinatorial monomial basis (or, more precisely, a family of monomial bases) in every finite-dimensional irreducible $\mathfrak{so}_{2n+1}$-module. These bases are in many ways similar to the FFLV bases for types $A$ and $C$. They are also defined combinatorially via sums over Dyck paths in certain triangular grids. Our sums, however, involve weights depending on the length of the corresponding root. Accordingly, our bases also induce bases in certain degenerations of the modules but these degenerations are obtained not from the filtration by PBW degree but by a weighted version thereof.
