Bi-banded Paths, a Bijection and the Narayana Numbers
We find a bijection between bi-banded paths and peak-counting paths, applying to two classes of lattice paths including Dyck paths. Thus we find a new interpretation of Narayana numbers as coefficients of weight polynomials enumerating bi-banded Dyck paths, which class of paths has arisen naturally in previous literature in a solution of the stationary state of the `TASEP' stochastic process.

Based on weighted noncrossing partitions of type B, we obtain type B analogues of Coker's identities on the Narayana polynomials. A parity reversing involution is given for the alternating sum of Narayana numbers of type B. Moreover, we find type B analogues of the refinements of Coker's identities due to Chen, Deutsch and Elizalde. By combinatorial constructions, we provide type B analogues of three identities of Mansour and Sun also on the Narayana polynomials.
Refinements of Lattice paths with flaws
The classical Chung-Feller theorem [2] tells us that the number of Dyck paths of length $n$ with $m$ flaws is the $n$-th Catalan number and independent on $m$. In this paper, we consider the refinements of Dyck paths with flaws by four parameters, namely peak, valley, double descent and double ascent. Let ${p}_{n,m,k}$ be the number of all the Dyck paths of semi-length $n$ with $m$ flaws and $k$ peaks. First, we derive the reciprocity theorem for the polynomial $P_{n,m}(x)=\sum\limits_{k=1}^np_{n,m,k}x^k$. Then we find the Chung-Feller properties for the sum of $p_{n,m,k}$ and $p_{n,m,n-k}$. Finally, we provide a Chung-Feller type theorem for Dyck paths of length $n$ with $k$ double ascents: the number of all the Dyck paths of semi-length $n$ with $m$ flaws and $k$ double ascents is equal to the number of all the Dyck paths that have semi-length $n$, $k$ double ascents and never pass below the x-axis, which is counted by the Narayana number. Let ${v}_{n,m,k}$ (resp. $d_{n,m,k}$) be the number of all the Dyck paths of semi-length $n$ with $m$ flaws and $k$ valleys (resp. double descents). Some similar results are derived.

Using Schur positivity and the principal specialization of Schur functions, we provide a proof of a recent conjecture of Liu and Wang on the $q$-log-convexity of the Narayana polynomials, and a proof of the second conjecture that the Narayana transformation preserves the log-convexity. Based on a formula of Bränd$\mathrm{\acute{e}}$n which expresses the $q$-Narayana numbers as the specializations of Schur functions, we derive several symmetric function identities using the Littlewood-Richardson rule for the product of Schur functions, and obtain the strong $q$-log-convexity of the Narayana polynomials and the strong $q$-log-concavity of the $q$-Narayana numbers.

In the present paper we find a new interpretation of Narayana polynomials N_n(x) which are the generating polynomials for the Narayana numbers N_{n,k} counting Dyck paths of length n and with exactly k peaks. Strangely enough Narayana polynomials also occur as limits as n->oo of the sequences of eigenpolynomials of the Schur-Szego composition map sending (n-1)-tuples of polynomials of the form (x+1)^{n-1}(x+a) to their Schur-Szego product, see below. As a corollary we obtain that every N_n(x) has all roots real and non-positive. Additionally, we present an explicit formula for the density and the distribution function of the asymptotic root-counting measure of the polynomial sequence {N_n(x)}.

The aim of the paper is to calculate face numbers of simple generalized permutohedra, and study their f-, h- and gamma-vectors. These polytopes include permutohedra, associahedra, graph-associahedra, simple graphic zonotopes, nestohedra, and other interesting polytopes.
We give several explicit formulas for h-vectors and gamma-vectors involving descent statistics. This includes a combinatorial interpretation for gamma-vectors of a large class of generalized permutohedra which are flag simple polytopes, and confirms for them Gal's conjecture on nonnegativity of gamma-vectors.
We calculate explicit generating functions and formulae for h-polynomials of various families of graph-associahedra, including those corresponding to all Dynkin diagrams of finite and affine types. We also discuss relations with Narayana numbers and with Simon Newcomb's problem.
We give (and conjecture) upper and lower bounds for f-, h-, and gamma-vectors within several classes of generalized permutohedra.
An appendix discusses the equivalence of various notions of deformations of simple polytopes.

Using Kummer's Theorem, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for a Narayana number to be divisible by a given prime. We use this to derive certain properties of the Narayana triangle.

Let $W$ be a Weyl group corresponding to the root system $A_{n-1}$ or $B_n$.
We define a simplicial complex $ Δ^m_W $ in terms of polygon dissections for such a group and any positive integer $m$. For $ m=1 $, $ Δ^m_W$ is isomorphic to the cluster complex corresponding to $ W $, defined in \cite{FZ}. We enumerate the faces of $ Δ^m_W $ and show that the entries of its $h$-vector are given by the generalized Narayana numbers $ N^m_W(i) $, defined in \cite{Atha3}. We also prove that for any $ m \geq 1$ the complex $ Δ^m_W $ is shellable and hence Cohen-Macaulay.
Old and young leaves on plane trees

A leaf of a plane tree is called an old leaf if it is the leftmost child of its parent, and it is called a young leaf otherwise. In this paper we enumerate plane trees with a given number of old leaves and young leaves. The formula is obtained combinatorially by presenting two bijections between plane trees and 2-Motzkin paths which map young leaves to red horizontal steps, and old leaves to up steps plus one. We derive some implications to the enumeration of restricted permutations with respect to certain statistics such as pairs of consecutive deficiencies, double descents, and ascending runs. Finally, our main bijection is applied to obtain refinements of two identities of Coker, involving refined Narayana numbers and the Catalan numbers.

In this paper, we present a reduction algorithm which transforms $m$-regular partitions of $[n]=\{1, 2, ..., n\}$ to $(m-1)$-regular partitions of $[n-1]$. We show that this algorithm preserves the noncrossing property. This yields a simple explanation of an identity due to Simion-Ullman and Klazar in connection with enumeration problems on noncrossing partitions and RNA secondary structures. For ordinary noncrossing partitions, the reduction algorithm leads to a representation of noncrossing partitions in terms of independent arcs and loops, as well as an identity of Simion and Ullman which expresses the Narayana numbers in terms of the Catalan numbers.

Alex Postnikov has given a combinatorially explicit cell decomposition of the totally nonnegative part of a Grassmannian, denoted Gr_{kn}+, and showed that this set of cells is isomorphic as a graded poset to many other interesting graded posets. The main result of this paper is an explicit generating function which enumerates the cells in Gr_{kn}+ according to their dimension. As a corollary, we give a new proof that the Euler characteristic of Gr_{kn}+ is 1. Additionally, we use our result to produce a new q-analog of the Eulerian numbers, which interpolates between the Eulerian numbers, the Narayana numbers, and the binomial coefficients.
q-Narayana numbers and the flag h-vector of $J({\bf 2} \times {\bf n})$

The Narayana numbers are $N(n,k) = {1 \over n}{n \choose k}{n \choose {k+1}}$. There are several natural statistics on Dyck paths with a distribution given by N(n,k). We show the equidistribution of Narayana statistics by computing the flag h-vector of $J({\bf 2} \times {\bf n})$ in different ways. In the process we discover new Narayana statistics and provide co-statistics for which the Narayana statistics in question have a distribution given by Fürlinger and Hofbauers q-Narayana numbers. We also interpret the h-vector in terms of semi-standard Young tableaux, which enables us to express the q-Narayana numbers in terms of Schur functions.
Continued fractions, statistics, and generalized patterns
Recently, Babson and Steingrimsson (see \cite{BS}) introduced generalized permutations patterns that allow the requirement that two adjacent letters in a pattern must be adjacent in the permutation.
Following \cite{BCS}, let $e_kπ$ (respectively; $f_kπ$) be the number of the occurrences of the generalized pattern $12\mn3\mn...\mn k$ (respectively; $21\mn3\mn...\mn k$) in $π$. In the present note, we study the distribution of the statistics $e_kπ$ and $f_kπ$ in a permutation avoiding the classical pattern $1\mn3\mn2$.
Also we present an applications, which relates the Narayana numbers, Catalan numbers, and increasing subsequences, to permutations avoiding the classical pattern $1\mn3\mn2$ according to a given statistics on $e_kπ$, or on $f_kπ$.
