Vertex models for the product of a permuted-basement Demazure atom and a Schur polynomial
We present the first positive combinatorial rule for expanding the product of a permuted-basement Demazure atom and a Schur polynomial. Special cases of permuted-basement Demazure atoms include Demazure atoms and characters. These cases have known tableau formulas for their expansions when multiplied by a Schur polynomial, due to Haglund, Luoto, Mason and van Willigenburg. We find a vertex model formula, giving a new rule even in these special cases, extending a technique introduced by Zinn-Justin for calculating Littlewood-Richardson coefficients.
We derive a coloured vertex model for permuted-basement Demazure atoms, inspired by Borodin and Wheeler's model for non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials. We make this model compatible with an uncoloured vertex model for Schur polynomials, putting them in a single framework. Unlike previous work on structure coefficients via vertex models, a remarkable feature of our construction is that it relies on a Yang-Baxter equation that only holds for certain boundary conditions. However, this restricted Yang-Baxter equation is sufficient to show our result.
Higher Rank Macdonald Polynomials
In this paper, we introduce higher rank generalizations of Macdonald polynomials. The higher rank non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials are Laurent polynomials in several sets of variables which form weight bases for higher rank polynomial representations of double affine Hecke algebras with respect to higher rank Cherednik operators. We prove that these polynomials satisfy generalized versions of the classical Knop--Sahi relations and we give combinatorial descriptions of their weights. The higher rank symmetric Macdonald polynomials are defined as Hecke-symmetrizations of the higher rank non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials and form eigenbases for the spaces of Hecke-invariant higher rank polynomials with respect to generalized finite variable Macdonald operators. We prove that the higher rank symmetric Macdonald polynomials satisfy stability properties allowing for the construction of infinite variable limits. These higher rank symmetric Macdonald functions form eigenbases for certain representations of the (positive) elliptic Hall algebra with respect to generalized infinite variable Macdonald operators. Lastly, we show that the higher rank polynomial representations may be used to construct higher rank polynomial representations of the double Dyck path algebra. Tilings of the sphere by congruent pentagons IV: Edge combination $a^4b$ with general angles
We classify edge-to-edge tilings of the sphere by congruent pentagons with the edge combination $a^4b$ and with any irrational angle in degree: they are three $1$-parameter families of pentagonal subdivisions of the Platonic solids, with $12, 24$ and $60$ tiles; and a sequence of $1$-parameter families of pentagons admitting non-symmetric $3$-layer earth map tilings together with their various rearrangements under extra conditions. Their parameter moduli and geometric data are all computed in both exact and numerical form. The total numbers of different tilings for any fixed such pentagon are counted explicitly. As a byproduct, the degenerate pentagons produce naturally many new non-edge-to-edge quadrilateral tilings. A sequel of this paper will handle $a^4b$-pentagons with all angles being rational in degree by solving some trigonometric Diophantine equations, to complete our full classification of edge-to-edge tilings of the sphere by congruent pentagons.
Extending Robinson Spaces: Complexity and Algorithmic Solutions for Non-Symmetric Dissimilarity Spaces
In this work, we extend the concept of Robinson spaces to asymmetric dissimilarities, enhancing their applicability in representing and analyzing complex data. Within this generalized framework, we introduce two different problems that extend the classical seriation problem: an optimization problem and a decision problem. We establish that these problems are NP-hard and NP-complete, respectively. Despite this complexity results, we identify several non-trivial instances where these problems can be solved in polynomial time, providing valuable insights into their tractability.
Community detection with the Bethe-Hessian
The Bethe-Hessian matrix, introduced by Saade, Krzakala, and Zdeborová (2014), is a Hermitian matrix designed for applying spectral clustering algorithms to sparse networks. Rather than employing a non-symmetric and high-dimensional non-backtracking operator, a spectral method based on the Bethe-Hessian matrix is conjectured to also reach the Kesten-Stigum detection threshold in the sparse stochastic block model (SBM). We provide the first rigorous analysis of the Bethe-Hessian spectral method in the SBM under both the bounded expected degree and the growing degree regimes. Specifically, we demonstrate that: (i) When the expected degree $d\geq 2$, the number of negative outliers of the Bethe-Hessian matrix can consistently estimate the number of blocks above the Kesten-Stigum threshold, thus confirming a conjecture from Saade, Krzakala, and Zdeborová (2014) for $d\geq 2$. (ii) For sufficiently large $d$, its eigenvectors can be used to achieve weak recovery. (iii) As $d\to\infty$, we establish the concentration of the locations of its negative outlier eigenvalues, and weak consistency can be achieved via a spectral method based on the Bethe-Hessian matrix.
Percolating sets and the operad of permutations
We give an operadic interpretation of the known result of L.Shapiro and A.B.Stephens that characterizes percolating permutation matrices. A relation of ideals and suboperads of the non-symmetric operad of permutations to percolative properties of sets in the 2-neighbor percolation process is discussed. On a related note, we discuss a certain presentation of the operad of permutations.
Sets with no solutions to some symmetric linear equations
We expand the class of linear symmetric equations for which large sets with no non-trivial solutions are known. Our idea is based on first finding a small set with no solutions and then enlarging it to arbitrary size using a multi-dimensional construction, crucially assuming the equation in primitive. We start by presenting the technique on some new equations. Then we use it to show that a symmetric equation with randomly chosen coefficients has a near-optimal set with no non-trivial solutions. We also show a construction for a wide class of symmetric equation in 6 variables. In the final section we present a couple of remarks on non-symmetric equations.
On (joint) equidistributions of mesh patterns 123 and 132 with symmetric shadings
A notable problem within permutation patterns that has attracted considerable attention in literature since 1973 is the search for a bijective proof demonstrating that 123-avoiding and 132-avoiding permutations are equinumerous, both counted by the Catalan numbers. Despite this equivalence, the distributions of occurrences of the patterns 123 and 132 are distinct. When considering 123 and 132 as mesh patterns and selectively shading boxes, similar scenarios arise, even when avoidance is defined by the Bell numbers or other sequences, rather than the Catalan numbers.
However, computer experiments suggest that mesh patterns 123 and 132 may indeed be equidistributed. Furthermore, by considering symmetric shadings relative to the anti-diagonal, a maximum of 93 such equidistributed pairs can potentially exist. This paper establishes 75 such equidistributions, leaving the justification of the remaining cases as open problems. As a by-product, we also prove 36 relevant non-symmetric equidistributions. All our proofs are bijective and involve swapping occurrences of the patterns in question, thereby demonstrating their joint equidistribution. Our findings are a continuation of the systematic study of distributions of short-length mesh patterns initiated by Kitaev and Zhang in 2019.
Delta Operators on Almost Symmetric Functions
We construct $Δ$-operators $F[Δ]$ on the space of almost symmetric functions $\mathscr{P}_{as}^{+}$. These operators extend the usual $Δ$-operators on the space of symmetric functions $Λ\subset \mathscr{P}_{as}^{+}$ central to Macdonald theory. The $F[Δ]$ operators are constructed as certain limits of symmetric functions in the Cherednik operators $Y_i$ and act diagonally on the stable-limit non-symmetric Macdonald functions $\widetilde{E}_{(μ|λ)}(x_1,x_2,\ldots;q,t).$ Using properties of Ion-Wu limits, we are able to compute commutation relations for the $Δ$-operators $F[Δ]$ and many of the other operators on $\mathscr{P}_{as}^{+}$ introduced by Ion-Wu. Using these relations we show that there is an action of $\mathbb{B}_{q,t}^{\text{ext}}$ on almost symmetric functions which we show is isomorphic to the polynomial representation of $\mathbb{B}_{q,t}^{\text{ext}}$ constructed by González-Gorsky-Simental.
Almost Symmetric Schur Functions
We introduce and study a generalization $s_{(μ|λ)}$ of the Schur functions called the almost symmetric Schur functions. These functions simultaneously generalize the finite variable key polynomials and the infinite variable Schur functions. They form a homogeneous basis for the space of almost symmetric functions and are defined using a family of recurrences involving the isobaric divided difference operators and limits of Weyl symmetrization operators. The $s_{(μ|λ)}$ are the $q=t=0$ specialization of the stable limit non-symmetric Macdonald functions $\widetilde{E}_{(μ|λ)}$ defined by the author in previous work. We find a combinatorial formula for these functions simultaneously generalizing well known formulas for the Schur functions and the key polynomials. Further, we prove positivity results for the coefficients of the almost symmetric Schur functions expanded into the monomial basis and into the monomial-Schur basis of the space of almost symmetric functions. The latter positivity result follows after realizing the almost symmetric Schur functions $s_{(μ|λ)}$ as limits of characters of representations of parabolic subgroups in type $GL.$
The inhomogeneous $t$-PushTASEP and Macdonald polynomials
We study a multispecies $t$-PushTASEP system on a finite ring of $n$ sites with site-dependent rates $x_1,\dots,x_n$. Let $λ=(λ_1,\dots,λ_n)$ be a partition whose parts represent the species of the $n$ particles on the ring. We show that for each composition $η$ obtained by permuting the parts of $λ$, the stationary probability of being in state $η$ is proportional to the ASEP polynomial $F_η(x_1,\dots,x_n; q,t)$ at $q=1$; the normalizing constant (or partition function) is the Macdonald polynomial $P_λ(x_1,\dots,x_n;q,t)$ at $q=1$. Our approach involves new relations between the families of ASEP polynomials and of non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials at $q=1$. We also use multiline diagrams, showing that a single jump of the PushTASEP system is closely related to the operation of moving from one line to the next in a multiline diagram. We derive symmetry properties for the system under permutation of its jump rates, as well as a formula for the current of a single-species system.
Counting symmetric and non-symmetric peaks in a set partition
The aim of this paper is to derive explicit formulas for two distinct values. The first is the total number of symmetric peaks in a set partition of $[n]$ with exactly $k$ blocks, and the second one is the total number of non-symmetric peaks in a set partition of $[n]$ with exactly $k$ blocks. We represent these results in two ways. First by using the theory of generating functions, and the second by using combinatorial tools.
The $m$-symmetric Macdonald polynomials
The $m$-symmetric Macdonald polynomials form a basis of the space of polynomials that are symmetric in the variables $x_{m+1},x_{m+2},\dots$ (while having no special symmetry in the variables $x_1,\dots,x_m$).We establish in this article the fundamental properties of the $m$-symmetric Macdonald polynomials. These include among other things the orthogonality with respect to a natural scalar product, as well as formulas for the squared norm, the evaluation, and the inclusion. We also obtain a Cauchy-type identity for the $m$-symmetric Macdonald polynomials which specializes to the known Cauchy-type identity for the non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials.
Weakly distance-regular circulants, I
We classify certain non-symmetric commutative association schemes. As an application, we determine all the weakly distance-regular circulants of one type of arcs by using Schur rings. We also give the classification of primitive weakly distance-regular circulants.
Stable-Limit Non-symmetric Macdonald Functions
We construct and study an explicit simultaneous $\mathscr{Y}$-eigenbasis of Ion and Wu's standard representation of the $^+$stable-limit double affine Hecke algebra for the limit Cherednik operators $\mathscr{Y}_i$. This basis arises as a generalization of Cherednik's non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials of type $GL$. We utilize links between $^+$stable-limit double affine Hecke algebra theory of Ion-Wu and the double Dyck path algebra of Carlsson-Mellit that arose in their proof of the Shuffle Conjecture. As a consequence, the spectral theory for the limit Cherednik operators is understood. The symmetric functions comprise the zero weight space. We introduce one extra operator that commutes with the $\mathscr{Y}_i$ action and dramatically refines the weight spaces to now be one-dimensional. This operator, up to a change of variables, gives an extension of Haiman's operator $Δ'$ from $Λ$ to $\mathscr{P}_{as}^{+}.$ Additionally, we develop another method to build this weight basis using limits of trivial idempotents.
Symmetry and Pieri rules for the bisymmetric Macdonald polynomials
Bisymmetric Macdonald polynomials can be obtained through a process of antisymmetrization and $t$-symmetrization of non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials. Using the double affine Hecke algebra, we show that the evaluation of the bisymmetric Macdonald polynomials satisfies a symmetry property generalizing that satisfied by the usual Macdonald polynomials. We then obtain Pieri rules for the bisymmetric Macdonald polynomials where the sums are over certain vertical strips.

This article continues our study of $P$- and $Q$-key polynomials, which are (non-symmetric) "partial" Schur $P$- and $Q$-functions as well as "shifted" versions of key polynomials. Our main results provide a crystal interpretation of $P$- and $Q$-key polynomials, namely, as the characters of certain connected subcrystals of normal crystals associated to the queer Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{q}_n$. In the $P$-key case, the ambient normal crystals are the $\mathfrak{q}_n$-crystals studied by Grantcharov et al., while in the $Q$-key case, these are replaced by the extended $\mathfrak{q}_n$-crystals recently introduced by the first author and Tong. Using these constructions, we propose a crystal-theoretic lift of several conjectures about the decomposition of involution Schubert polynomials into $P$- and $Q$-key polynomials. We verify these generalized conjectures in a few special cases. Along the way, we establish some miscellaneous results about normal $\mathfrak{q}_n$-crystals and Demazure $\mathfrak{gl}_n$-crystals.
Stable-Limit Non-symmetric Macdonald Functions in Type A
We construct and study an explicit simultaneous $\mathscr{Y}$ eigenbasis of Ion and Wu's standard representation of the $^+$stable-limit double affine Hecke algebra for the limit Cherednik operators $\mathscr{Y}_i$. This basis arises as a generalization of Cherednik's non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials of type $GL_n$. We utilize links between $^+$stable-limit double affine Hecke algebra theory of Ion and Wu and the double Dyck path algebra of Carlsson and Mellit that arose in their proof of the Shuffle Conjecture. As a consequence, the spectral theory for the limit Cherednik operators is understood.

We give a short topological proof of coherence for categorified non-symmetric operads by using the fact that the diagrams involved form the 1-skeleton of simply connected CW complexes. We also obtain a "one-step" topological proof of Mac Lane's coherence theorem for symmetric monoidal categories, as suggested by Kapranov in 1993. Our analysis is based on a notion of combinatorial homotopy, which we further study in the special case of polyhedral complexes, leading to a second geometrical proof of coherence which is very close to Mac Lane's original argument. We use Morse theory to show that this second method is (strictly) less general than the first. We provide a detailed analysis of how both methods allow us to deduce these two categorical coherence results and discuss possible generalizations to higher categories.

We use non-symmetric Cauchy kernel identities to get the law of last passagepercolation models in terms of Demazure characters. The construction is basedon some restrictions of the RSK correspondence that we rephrase in a unifiedway which is compatible with crystal basis theory.
