Let $D$ be a digraph. A subset $S$ of $V(D)$ is a stable set if every pair of vertices in $S$ is non-adjacent in $D$. A collection of disjoint paths $\mathcal{P}$ of $D$ is a path partition of $V(D)$, if every vertex in $V(D)$ is exactly on a path of $\mathcal{P}$. We say that a stable set $S$ and a path partition $\mathcal{P}$ are orthogonal if each path of $P$ contains exactly one vertex of $S$. A digraph $D$ satisfies the $α$-property if for every maximum stable set $S$ of $D$, there exists a path partition $\mathcal{P}$ such that $S$ and $\mathcal{P}$ are orthogonal. A digraph $D$ is $α$-diperfect if every induced subdigraph of $D$ satisfies the $α$-property. In 1982, Claude Berge proposed a characterization for $α$-diperfect digraphs in terms of forbidden anti-directed odd cycles. In 2018, Sambinelli, Silva and Lee proposed a similar conjecture. A digraph $D$ satisfies the Begin-End-property or BE-property if for every maximum stable set $S$ of $D$, there exists a path partition $\mathcal{P}$ such that (i) $S$ and $\mathcal{P}$ are orthogonal and (ii) for each path $P \in \mathcal{P}$, either the start or the end of $P$ belongs to $S$. A digraph $D$ is BE-diperfect if every induced subdigraph of $D$ satisfies the BE-property. Sambinelli, Silva and Lee proposed a characterization for BE-diperfect digraphs in terms of forbidden blocking odd cycles. In this paper, we verified both conjectures for $3$-anti-circulant digraphs. We also present some structural results for $α$-diperfect and BE-diperfect digraphs.
Pre-Calabi--Yau algebras and homotopy double Poisson gebras
We prove that the notion of a curved pre-Calabi--Yau algebra is equivalent to the notion of a curved homotopy double Poisson gebra, thereby settling the equivalence between the two ways to define derived noncommutative Poisson structures. We actually prove that the respective differential graded Lie algebras controlling both deformation theories are isomorphic. This allows us to apply the recent developments of the properadic calculus in order to establish the homotopical properties of curved pre-Calabi--Yau algebras: infinity-morphisms, homotopy transfer theorem, formality, Koszul hierarchy, and twisting procedure.

Let $G = (V,E)$ be an undirected graph with maximum degree $Δ$ and vertex conductance $Ψ^*(G)$. We show that there exists a symmetric, stochastic matrix $P$, with off-diagonal entries supported on $E$, whose spectral gap $γ^*(P)$ satisfies \[Ψ^*(G)^{2}/\logΔ\lesssim γ^*(P) \lesssim Ψ^*(G).\] Our bound is optimal under the Small Set Expansion Hypothesis, and answers a question of Olesker-Taylor and Zanetti, who obtained such a result with $\logΔ$ replaced by $\log|V|$.
In order to obtain our result, we show how to embed a negative-type semi-metric $d$ defined on $V$ into a negative-type semi-metric $d'$ supported in $\mathbb{R}^{O(\logΔ)}$, such that the (fractional) matching number of the weighted graph $(V,E,d)$ is approximately equal to that of $(V,E,d')$.

Let $A \in Z^{m \times n}$, $rank(A) = n$, $b \in Z^m$, and $P$ be an $n$-dimensional polyhedron, induced by the system $A x \leq b$.
It is a known fact that if $F$ is a $k$-face of $P$, then there exist at least $n-k$ linearly independent inequalities of the system $A x \leq b$ that become equalities on $F$. In other words, there exists a set of indices $J$, such that $|J| \geq n-k$, $rank(A_{J}) = n-k$, and
$$
A_{J} x - b_{J} = 0,\quad \text{for any $x \in F$}.
$$
We show that a similar fact holds for the integer polyhedron
$$
P_{I} = conv.hull\bigl(P \cap Z^n\bigr),
$$
if we additionally suppose that $P$ is $Δ$-modular, for some $Δ\in \{1,2,\dots\}$. More precisely, if $F$ is a $k$-face of $P_{I}$, then there exists a set of indices $J$, such that $|J| \geq n-k$, $rank(A_{J}) = n-k$, and
$$
A_{J} x - b_{J} \oversetΔ{=} 0,\quad \text{for any $x \in F \cap Z^n$},
$$ where $x \oversetΔ{=} y$ means that $\|x - y\|_{\infty} < Δ$. In other words, there exist at least $n-k$ linearly independent inequalities of the system $A x \leq b$ that almost become equalities on $F \cap Z^n$. When we say almost, we mean that the slacks are not greater than $Δ-1$. Using this fact, we prove the inequality
$$
|vert(P_I)| \leq 2 \cdot \binom{m}{n} \cdot Δ^{n-1},
$$ for the number of vertices of $P_I$, which is better, than the state of the art bound for $Δ= O(n^2)$.
A new construction of strongly regular graphs with parameters of the complement symplectic graph

The symplectic graph Sp(2d, q) is the collinearity graph of the symplectic space of dimension 2d over a finite field of order q. A k-regular graph on v vertices is a divisible design graph with parameters (v, k, lambda_1, lambda_2 ,m,n) if its vertex set can be partitioned into m classes of size n, such that any two different vertices from the same class have lambda_1 common neighbours, and any two vertices from different classes have lambda_2 common neighbours whenever it is not complete or edgeless. In this paper we propose a new construction of strongly regular graphs with the parameters of the complement of the symplectic graph using divisible design graphs.
Combinatorial expressions of Hopf polynomial invariants
In 2017 Aguiar and Ardila provided a generic way to construct polynomial invariants of combinatorial objects using the notions of Hopf monoids and characters of Hopf monoids. They show that it is possible to find a combinatorial interpretation of these polynomials over negative integers using the antipode and give a cancellation-free grouping-free formula for the antipode on generalized permutahedra. In this work, we give a combinatorial interpretation of these polynomials over both positive integers and negative integers for the Hopf monoids of generalized permutahedra and hypergraphs and for every character on these two Hopf monoids. In the case of hypergraphs, we present two different proofs for the interpretation on negative integers. We then deduce similar results on other combinatorial objects including graphs, simplicial complexes and building sets.
Blowup polynomials and delta-matroids of graphs

For every finite simple connected graph $G = (V,E)$, we introduce an invariant, its blowup-polynomial $p_G(\{ n_v : v \in V \})$. This is obtained by dividing the determinant of the distance matrix of its blowup graph $G[{\bf n}]$ (containing $n_v$ copies of $v$) by an exponential factor. We show that $p_G({\bf n})$ is indeed a polynomial function in the sizes $n_v$, which is moreover multi-affine and real-stable. This associates a hitherto unexplored delta-matroid to each graph $G$; and we provide a second unexplored one for each tree. As another consequence, we obtain a new characterization of complete multipartite graphs, via the homogenization at $-1$ of $p_G$ being completely/strongly log-concave, i.e., Lorentzian. (These results extend to weighted graphs.) Finally, we show $p_G$ is indeed a graph invariant, i.e., $p_G$ and its symmetries (in the variables ${\bf n}$) recover $G$ and its isometries, respectively.
The number of occurrences of patterns in a random tree or forest permutation

The classes of tree permutations and forest permutations were defined by Acan and Hitczenko (2016). We study random permutations of a given length from these classes, and in particular the number of occurrences of a fixed pattern in one of these random permutations. The main results show that the distributions of these numbers are asymptotically normal.
The proof uses representations of random tree and forest permutations that enable us to express the number of occurrences of a pattern by a type of $U$-statistics; we then use general limit theorems for the latter.
On the Hardness of the Minimum Distance Problem of Quantum Codes

We study the hardness of the problem of finding the distance of quantum error-correcting codes. The analogous problem for classical codes is known to be NP-hard, even in approximate form. For quantum codes, various problems related to decoding are known to be NP-hard, but the hardness of the distance problem has not been studied before. In this work, we show that finding the minimum distance of stabilizer quantum codes exactly or approximately is NP-hard. This result is obtained by reducing the classical minimum distance problem to the quantum problem, using the CWS framework for quantum codes, which constructs a quantum code using a classical code and a graph. A main technical tool used for our result is a lower bound on the so-called graph state distance of 4-cycle free graphs. In particular, we show that for a 4-cycle free graph $G$, its graph state distance is either $δ$ or $δ+1$, where $δ$ is the minimum vertex degree of $G$. Due to a well-known reduction from stabilizer codes to CSS codes, our results also imply that finding the minimum distance of CSS codes is also NP-hard.
A bijective proof of a generalization of the non-negative crank--odd mex identity

Recent works of Andrews--Newman and Hopkins--Sellers unveil an interesting relation between two partition statistics, the crank and the mex. They state that, for a positive integer $n$, there are as many partitions of $n$ with non-negative crank as partitions of $n$ with odd mex. In this paper, we give a bijective proof of a generalization of this identity provided by Hopkins, Sellers, and Stanton. Our method uses an alternative definition of the Durfee decomposition, whose combinatorial link to the crank was recently studied by Hopkins, Sellers, and Yee.

The handle slide operation, originally defined for ribbon graphs, was extended to delta-matroids by I. Moffatt and E. Mphako-Bandab, who show that, using a delta-matroid analogue of handle slides, every binary delta-matroid in which the empty set is feasible can be written in a canonical form analogous to the canonical form for one-vertex maps on a surface. We provide a canonical form for binary delta-matroids without restriction on the feasibility of the empty set.
A class of dissimilarity semimetrics for preference relations

We propose a class of semimetrics for preference relations any one of which is an alternative to the classical Kemeny-Snell-Bogart metric. (We take a fairly general viewpoint about what constitutes a preference relation, allowing for any acyclic order to act as one.) These semimetrics are based solely on the implications of preferences for choice behavior, and thus appear more suitable in economic contexts and choice experiments. In our main result, we obtain a fairly simple axiomatic characterization for the class we propose. The apparently most important member of this class (at least in the case of finite alternative spaces), which we dub the top-difference semimetric, is characterized separately. We also obtain alternative formulae for it, and relative to this metric, compute the diameter of the space of complete preferences, as well as the best transitive extension of a given acyclic preference relation. Finally, we prove that our preference metric spaces cannot be isometically embedded in a Euclidean space.
New proofs of stability theorems on spectral graph problems
Both the Simonovits stability theorem and the Nikiforov spectral stability theorem are powerful tools for solving exact values of Turán numbers in extremal graph theory. Recently, Füredi [J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 115 (2015)] provided a concise and contemporary proof of the Simonovits stability theorem. In this note, we present a unified treatment for some extremal graph problems, including short proofs of Nikiforov's spectral stability theorem and the clique stability theorem proved recently by Ma and Qiu [European J. Combin. 84 (2020)]. Moreover, some spectral extremal problems related to the $p$-spectral radius and signless Laplacian radius are also included.

The Göllnitz-Gordon identities were found by Göllnitz and Gordon independently. In 1967, Andrews obtained a combinatorial generalization of the Göllnitz-Gordon identities, called the Andrews-Göllnitz-Gordon theorem. In 1980, Bressoud extended the Andrews-Göllnitz-Gordon theorem to even moduli, called the Bressoud-Göllnitz-Gordon theorem. Furthermore, Bressoud gave the generating functions for the generalizations of the Göllnitz-Gordon identities. In this article, we will give new companions to the generalizations of the Göllnitz-Gordon identities.
Incidence geometry of the Fano plane and Freudenthal's ansatz for the construction of (split) octonions

In this article we consider structures on a Fano plane ${\cal F}$ which allow a generalisation of Freudenthal's construction of a norm and a bilinear multiplication law on an eight-dimensional vector space ${\mathbb O_{\cal F}}$ canonically associated to ${\cal F}$. We first determine necessary and sufficient conditions in terms of the incidence geometry of ${\cal F}$ for these structures to give rise to division composition algebras, and classify the corresponding structures using a logarithmic version of the multiplication. We then show how these results can be used to deduce analogous results in the split composition algebra case.
Few Induced Disjoint Paths for $H$-Free Graphs

Paths $P^1,\ldots,P^k$ in a graph $G=(V,E)$ are mutually induced if any two distinct $P^i$ and $P^j$ have neither common vertices nor adjacent vertices. For a fixed integer $k$, the $k$-Induced Disjoint Paths problem is to decide if a graph $G$ with $k$ pairs of specified vertices $(s_i,t_i)$ contains $k$ mutually induced paths $P^i$ such that each $P^i$ starts from $s_i$ and ends at $t_i$. Whereas the non-induced version is well-known to be polynomial-time solvable for every fixed integer $k$, a classical result from the literature states that even $2$-Induced Disjoint Paths is NP-complete. We prove new complexity results for $k$-Induced Disjoint Paths if the input is restricted to $H$-free graphs, that is, graphs without a fixed graph $H$ as an induced subgraph. We compare our results with a complexity dichotomy for Induced Disjoint Paths, the variant where $k$ is part of the input.

A longstanding conjecture of Erdős and Simonovits states that for every rational $r$ between $1$ and $2$ there is a graph $H$ such that the largest number of edges in an $H$-free graph on $n$ vertices is $Θ(n^r)$. Answering a question raised by Jiang, Jiang and Ma, we show that the conjecture holds for all rationals of the form $2 - a/b$ with $b$ sufficiently large in terms of $a$.
Geodetic convexity and Kneser graphs

The {\em Kneser graph} $K(2n+k,n)$, for positive integers $n$ and $k$, is the graph $G=(V,E)$ such that $V=\{S\subseteq\{1,\ldots,2n+k\} : |S|=n\}$ and there is an edge $uv\in E$ whenever $u\cap v=\emptyset$. Kneser graphs have a nice combinatorial structure, and many parameters have been determined for them, such as the diameter, the chromatic number, the independence number, and, recently, the hull number (in the context of $P_3$-convexity). However, the determination of geodetic convexity parameters in Kneser graphs still remained open. In this work, we investigate both the geodetic number and the geodetic hull number of Kneser graphs. We give upper bounds and determine the exact value of these parameters for Kneser graphs of diameter two (which form a nontrivial subfamily). We prove that the geodetic hull number of a Kneser graph of diameter two is two, except for $K(5,2)$, $K(6,2)$, and $K(8,2)$, which have geodetic hull number three. We also contribute to the knowledge on Kneser graphs by presenting a characterization of endpoints of diametral paths in $K(2n+k,n)$, used as a tool for obtaining some of the main results in this work.

In this paper, we extend the definition of cohomology associated to monotone graph properties, to encompass twisted functor coefficients. We introduce oriented matchings on graphs, and focus on their (twisted) cohomology groups. We characterise oriented matchings in terms of induced free-flow pseudoforests, and explicitly determine the homotopy type of the associated simplicial complexes. Furthermore, we provide a connection between the cohomology of oriented matchings with certain functor coefficients, and the recently defined multipath cohomology. Finally, we define a further oriented homology for graphs and interpret it as a count of free-flow orientations.
