An $r$-daisy is an $r$-uniform hypergraph consisting of the six $r$-sets formed by taking the union of an $(r-2)$-set with each of the 2-sets of a disjoint 4-set. Bollobás, Leader and Malvenuto, and also Bukh, conjectured that the Turán density of the $r$-daisy tends to zero as $r \to \infty$. In this paper we disprove this conjecture.
Adapting our construction, we are also able to disprove a folklore conjecture about Turán densities of hypercubes. For fixed $d$ and large $n$, we show that the smallest set of vertices of the $n$-dimensional hypercube $Q_n$ that meets every copy of $Q_d$ has asymptotic density strictly below $1/(d+1)$, for all $d \geq 8$. In fact, we show that this asymptotic density is at most $c^d$, for some constant $c<1$. As a consequence, we obtain similar bounds for the edge-Turán densities of hypercubes. We also answer some related questions of Johnson and Talbot, and disprove a conjecture made by Bukh and by Griggs and Lu on poset densities.
Combinatorial identities from an inhomogeneous Ising chain
We study a family of inhomogeneous Ising chain models along with an equivalent family of nearest neighbour particle systems. By the correspondence between the two families we prove identities of combinatorial significance relating to certain integer and Frobenius partitions. In particular, for certain parameter values we see that one of our identities relates to generating functions for overpartitions. Using the identities we give a surprising product form of the partition function for an Ising chain with homogeneous interaction and an inhomogeneous external field. We also use the connection between the Ising chain and particle system to find interesting long-range reversible dynamics for the particle system that do not have a product form stationary measure.
Quantum independence and chromatic numbers
We construct a new graph on 120 vertices whose quantum and classical independence numbers are different. At the same time, we construct an infinite family of graphs whose quantum chromatic numbers are smaller than the classical chromatic numbers. Furthermore, we discover the relation to Kochen-Specker sets that characterizes quantum cocliques that are strictly bigger than classical ones. Finally, we prove that for graphs with independence number is two, quantum and classical independence numbers coincide.

On Total Bondage Number of Graphs
In this paper, we explore the concept of total bondage in finite graphs without isolated vertices. A vertex set $D$ is considered a total dominating set if every vertex $v$ in the graph $G$ has a neighbor in $D$. The minimum cardinality of all total dominating sets in $G$ is denoted as $γ_t(G)$. A total bondage edge set $B$ is a subset of the edges of $G$ such that the removal of $B$ from $G$ does not create isolated vertices, and the total dominating number of the resulting graph $G-B$ is strictly greater than $γ_t(G)$. The total bondage number of $G$, denoted $b_t(G)$, is defined as the minimum cardinality of such total bondage edge sets. Our paper establishes upper bounds on $b_t(G)$ based on the maximum degree of a graph. Notably, for planar graphs with minimum degree $δ(G) \geq 3$, we prove $b_t(G) \leq Δ+ 8$ or $b_t(G) \leq 10$. Additionally, for a connected planar graph with $δ(G) \geq 3$ and $g(G) \geq 4$, we show that $b_t(G) \leq Δ+ 3$ if $G$ does not contain an edge with degree sum at most 7. We also improve some upper bounds of the total bondage number for trees, enhance existing lemmas, and find upper bounds for total bondage in specific graph classes.

In this paper, we introduce a problem closely related to the Cage Problem and the Degree Diameter Problem. For integers $k\geq 2$, $g\geq 3$ and $d\geq 1$, we define a $(k;\, g,d)$-graph to be a $k$-regular graph with girth $g$ and diameter $d$. We denote by $n_0(k;\,g,d)$ the smallest possible order of such a graph, and, if such a graph exists, we call it a $(k;g,d)$-cage. In particular, we focus on $(k;\,5,4)$-graphs. We show that $n_0(k;\,5,4) \geq k^2+k+2$ for all $k$, and report on the determination of all $(k;\,5,4)$-cages for $k=3, 4$ and $5$ and examples with $k = 6$, and describe some examples of $(k;\,5,4)$-graphs which prove that $n_0(k;\,5,4) \leq 2k^2$ for infinitely many values of $k$.
The Restricted Edge-Connectivity of Strong Product Graphs

The restricted edge-connectivity of a connected graph $G$, denoted by $λ^{\prime}(G)$, if it exists, is the minimum cardinality of a set of edges whose deletion makes $G$ disconnected and each component with at least 2 vertices. It was proved that if $G$ is not a star and $|V(G)|\geq4$, then $λ^{\prime}(G)$ exists and $λ^{\prime}(G)\leqξ(G)$, where $ξ(G)$ is the minimum edge-degree of $G$. Thus a graph $G$ is called maximally restricted edge-connected if $λ^{\prime}(G)=ξ(G)$; and a graph $G$ is called super restricted edge-connected if each minimum restricted edge-cut isolates an edge of $G$. The strong product of graphs $G$ and $H$, denoted by $G\boxtimes H$, is the graph with vertex set $V(G)\times V(H)$ and edge set $\{(x_1,y_1)(x_2,y_2)\ |\ x_1=x_2$ and $y_1y_2\in E(H)$; or $y_1=y_2$ and $x_1x_2\in E(G)$; or $x_1x_2\in E(G)$ and $y_1y_2\in E(H)$\}. In this paper, we determine, for any nontrivial connected graph $G$, the restricted edge-connectivity of $G\boxtimes P_n$, $G\boxtimes C_n$ and $G\boxtimes K_n$, where $P_n$, $C_n$ and $K_n$ are the path, the cycle and the complete graph on $n$ vertices, respectively. As corollaries, we give sufficient conditions for these strong product graphs $G\boxtimes P_n$, $G\boxtimes C_n$ and $G\boxtimes K_n$ to be maximally restricted edge-connected and super restricted edge-connected.

The problem of sparse representation has significant applications in signal processing. The spark of a dictionary plays a crucial role in the study of sparse representation. Donoho and Elad initially explored the spark, and they provided a general lower bound. When the dictionary is a union of several orthonormal bases, Gribonval and Nielsen presented an improved lower bound for spark. In this paper, we introduce a new construction of dictionary, achieving the spark bound given by Gribonval and Nielsen. Our result extends Shen et al.' s findings [IEEE Trans. Inform. Theory, vol. 68, pp. 4230--4243, 2022].

Let $\mathbf a=(a_1,\ldots,a_r)$ be a sequence of positive integers and $k\geq 2$ an integer. We study $p_{k,\mathbf a}(n)$, the restricted $k$-multipartition function associated to $\mathbf a$ and $k$. We prove new formulas for $p_{k,\mathbf a}(n)$, its waves $W_j(n,k,\mathbf a)$'s and its polynomial part $P_{k,\mathbf a}(n)$. Also, we give a lower bound for the density of the set $\{n\geq 0\;:\;p_{k,\mathbf a}(n)\not\equiv 0(\bmod\;m)\}$, where $m\geq 2$ is an integer.
A Plücker coordinate mirror for partial flag varieties and quantum Schubert calculus
We construct a Plücker coordinate superpotential $\mathcal{F}_-$ that is mirror to a partial flag variety $\mathbb{ F}\ell(n_\bullet)$. Its Jacobi ring recovers the small quantum cohomology of $\mathbb{ F}\ell(n_\bullet)$ and we prove a folklore conjecture in mirror symmetry. Namely, we show that the eigenvalues for the action of the first Chern class $c_1(\mathbb{ F}\ell(n_\bullet))$ on quantum cohomology are equal to the critical values of $\mathcal{F}_-$. We achieve this by proving new identities in quantum Schubert calculus that are inspired by our formula for $\mathcal{F}_-$ and the mirror symmetry conjecture.
Generalisations of Euler's Tonnetz on triangulated surfaces

We give a definition of a what we call a `tonnetz' on a triangulated surface, generalising the famous tonnetz of Euler from 1739. In Euler's tonnetz the vertices of a regular `$A_2$ triangulation' of the plane are labelled with notes, or pitch-classes. In our generalisation we allow much more general labellings of triangulated surfaces. In particular, edge labellings turn out to lead to a rich set of examples. We construct natural examples that are related to crystallographic reflection groups and live on triangulations of tori. Underlying these we observe a curious relationship between mathematical Langlands duality and major/minor duality. We also construct `exotic' type-$A_2$ examples (different from Euler's Tonnetz), and a tonnetz on a sphere that encodes all major ninth chords.
Covering Distributive Lattices by Intervals
We consider the convex subset $[A,B]$ of all elements between two levels $A$ and $B$ of a finite distributive lattice, as a union of (or covered by) intervals $[a,b]$. A 1988 result of Voigt and Wegener shows that for such convex subsets of finite Boolean lattices, covers using $\max(|A|,|B|)$ intervals (the minimum possible number) exist. In 1992 Bouchemakh and Engel pointed out that this result holds more generally for finite products of finite chains. In this paper we show that covers of size $\max(|A|,|B|)$ exist for $[A,B]$ when $A$ is the set of atoms and $B$ the set of coatoms of any finite distributive lattice. This is a consequence of a more general result for finite partially ordered sets. We also speculate on the situation when other levels of finite distributive lattices are considered, and prove a couple of theorems supporting these speculations.
A Combinatorial Perspective on Random Access Efficiency for DNA Storage

We investigate the fundamental limits of the recently proposed random access coverage depth problem for DNA data storage. Under this paradigm, it is assumed that the user information consists of $k$ information strands, which are encoded into $n$ strands via a generator matrix $G$. During the sequencing process, the strands are read uniformly at random, as each strand is available in a large number of copies. In this context, the random access coverage depth problem refers to the expected number of reads (i.e., sequenced strands) required to decode a specific information strand requested by the user. This problem heavily depends on the generator matrix $G$, and besides computing the expectation for different choices of $G$, the goal is to construct matrices that minimize the maximum expectation over all possible requested information strands, denoted by $T_{\max}(G)$.
In this paper, we introduce new techniques to investigate the random access coverage depth problem, capturing its combinatorial nature and identifying the structural properties of generator matrices that are advantageous. We establish two general formulas to determine $T_{\max}(G)$ for arbitrary generator matrices. The first formula depends on the linear dependencies between columns of $G$, whereas the second formula takes into account recovery sets and their intersection structure. We also introduce the concept of recovery balanced codes and provide three sufficient conditions for a code to be recovery balanced. These conditions can be used to compute $T_{\max}(G)$ for various families of codes, such as MDS, simplex, Hamming, and binary Reed-Muller codes. Additionally, we study the performance of modified systematic MDS and simplex matrices, showing that the best results for $T_{\max}(G)$ are achieved with a specific combination of encoded strands and replication of the information strands.

The associative spectrum of a groupoid (i.e., a set with a binary operation) measures its nonassociativity while the associative-commutative spectrum measures both nonassociativity and noncommutativity of the groupoid. The two spectra are also the coefficients of the Hilbert series of certain operads. We establish upper bounds for the two spectra of various varieties of groupoids defined by different sets of identities and provide examples (often groupoids with three elements) for which the upper bounds are achieved. Our results have connections to many interesting combinatorial objects and integer sequences and naturally lead to some questions for future studies.

We introduce quaternary modified four $μ$-circulant codes as a modification of four circulant codes. We give basic properties of quaternary modified four $μ$-circulant Hermitian self-dual codes. We also construct quaternary modified four $μ$-circulant Hermitian self-dual codes having large minimum weights. Two quaternary Hermitian self-dual $[56,28,16]$ codes are constructed for the first time. These codes improve the previously known lower bound on the largest minimum weight among all quaternary (linear) $[56,28]$ codes. In addition, these codes imply the existence of a quantum $[[56,0,16]]$ code.
Two Laplacians for the resistance distance matrix of a graph
In this paper, we present two new matrices, namely the resistance Laplacian and resistance signless Laplacian matrix of a connected graph. We provide a generalized form of these matrices for different classes of graphs, including the complete graph, complete bipartite graph, and cycle. We investigate the spectral properties of these matrices, analyzing their eigenvalues and eigenvectors. Moreover, we introduce a concept similar to graph energy and define it as the resistance Laplacian energy of a graph and further discuss some bounds for this energy.
On $2$-integral Cayley graphs
In this paper, we introduce the concept of $k$-integral graphs. A graph $Γ$ is called $k$-integral if the extension degree of the splitting field of the characteristic polynomial of $Γ$ over rational field $\mathbb Q$ is equal to $k$. We prove that the set of all finite connected graphs with given algebraic degree and maximum degree is finite. $1$-integral graphs are just integral ones, graphs all of whose eigenvalues are integer. We study
$2$-integral Cayley graphs over finite groups $G$ with respect to Cayley sets which are a union of conjugacy classes of $G$. Among other general results, we completely characterize all finite abelian groups having a connected $2$-integral Cayley graph with valency $2,3,4$ and $5$.
Furthermore, we classify finite groups $G$ for which all Cayley graphs over $G$ with bounded valency are $2$-integral.
$n\text{-}Lie_d$ Operad and its Koszul Dual
We study the operad $n\text{-}Lie_d$, whose algebras are graded $n$-Lie algebras with degree $d$ $n$-arity operations, which were introduced in Nambu mechanics and later studied in the algebraic setting with Filippov. We compute the Koszul dual of $n\text{-}Lie_d$, called $n\text{-}Com_{-d+n-2}$, whose relations are derived from the Specht module $S^{(n,n-1)}$ for a partition $(n,n-1)$ of $2n-1$. The intrinsic connection between these two operads come from the eigenvalues of the sequence of graphs $\{\mathcal{O}_n\}_{n\geq 0}$, called the Odd graphs, whose spectrum is related to the lower triangular sequence $\{\mathcal{E}_{r,n}\}$, called the Catalan triangle.

Let $P$ be a convex $d$-polytope and $0 \leq k \leq d-1$. In 2023, this author proved the following inequalities, resolving a question of Bárány: \[ \frac{f_k(P)}{f_0(P)} \geq \frac{1}{2}\biggl[{\lceil \frac{d}{2} \rceil \choose k} + {\lfloor \frac{d}{2} \rfloor \choose k}\biggr], \qquad \frac{f_k(P)}{f_{d-1}(P)} \geq \frac{1}{2}\biggl[{\lceil \frac{d}{2} \rceil \choose d-k-1} + {\lfloor \frac{d}{2} \rfloor \choose d-k-1}\biggr]. \] We show that for any fixed $d$ and $k$, these are the tightest possible linear bounds on $f_k(P)$ in terms of $f_0(P)$ or $f_{d-1}(P)$. We then give a stronger bound on $f_k(P)$ in terms of the Grassmann angle sum $γ_k^2(P)$. Finally, we prove an identity relating the face numbers of a polytope with the behavior of its facets under a fixed orthogonal projection of codimension two.
