Auslander-Reiten combinatorics and $q$-characters of representations of affine quantum groups
For each simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ of simply-laced type, Hernandez and Leclerc introduced a certain category $\mathcal{C}_{\mathbb{Z}}$ of finite-dimensional representations of the quantum affine algebra of $\mathfrak{g}$, as well as certain subcategories $\mathcal{C}_{\mathbb{Z}}^{\leq ξ}$ depending on a choice of height function adapted to an orientation of the Dynkin graph of $\mathfrak{g}$. In our previous work we constructed an algebra homomorphism $\widetilde{D}_ξ$ whose domain contains the image of the Grothendieck ring of $\mathcal{C}_{\mathbb{Z}}^{\leq ξ}$ under the truncated $q$-character morphism $\widetildeχ_q$ corresponding to $ξ$. We exhibited a close relationship between the composition of $\widetilde{D}_ξ$ with $\widetildeχ_q$ and the morphism $\overline{D}$ recently introduced by Baumann, Kamnitzer and Knutson in their study of the equivariant homology of Mirković-Vilonen cycles. In this paper, we extend $\widetilde{D}_ξ$ in order to investigate its composition with Frenkel-Reshetikhin's original $q$-character morphism. Our main result consists in proving that the $q$-characters of all standard modules in $\mathcal{C}_{\mathbb{Z}}$ lie in the kernel of $\widetilde{D}_ξ$. This provides a large family of new non-trivial rational identities suggesting possible geometric interpretations.
Improved fewnomial upper bounds from Wronskians and dessins d'enfant
We use Grothendieck's dessins d'enfant to show that if $P$ and $Q$ are two real polynomials, any real function of the form $x^α(1-x)^β P - Q$, has at most $°P +°Q + 2$ roots in the interval $]0,~1[$. As a consequence, we obtain an upper bound on the number of positive solutions to a real polynomial system $f=g=0$ in two variables where $f$ has three monomials terms, and $g$ has $t$ terms. The approach we adopt for tackling this Fewnomial bound relies on the theory of Wronskians, which was used in Koiran et.\ al.\ (J.\ Symb.\ Comput., 2015) for producing the first upper bound which is polynomial in $t$.
Key expansion of the flagged refined skew stable Grothendieck polynomial
The flagged refined stable Grothendieck polynomials of skew shapes generalize several polynomials like stable Grothendieck polynomials, flagged skew Schur polynomials. In this paper, we provide a combinatorial expansion of the flagged refined skew stable Grothendieck polynomial in terms of key polynomials. We present this expansion by imposing a Demazure crystal structure on the set of flagged semi-standard set-valued tableaux of a given skew shape and a flag. We also provide expansions of the row-refined stable Grothendieck polynomials and refined dual stable Grothendieck polynomials and the Schur P-functions in terms of stable Grothendieck polynomials $G_λ$ and in terms of dual stable Grothendieck polynomials $g_λ$.
The extra basis in noncommuting variables
We answer a question of Bergeron, Hohlweg, Rosas, and Zabrocki from 2006 to give a combinatorial description for the coproduct of the x-basis in the Hopf algebra of symmetric functions in noncommuting variables, NCSym, which arises in the theory of Grothendieck bialgebras. We achieve this using the theory of Hopf monoids and the Fock functor. We also determine combinatorial expansions of this basis in terms of the monomial and power sum symmetric functions in NCSym, and by taking the commutative image of the x-basis we discover a new multiplicative basis for the algebra of symmetric functions.
Grothendieck Shenanigans: Permutons from pipe dreams via integrable probability
We study random permutations arising from reduced pipe dreams. Our main model is motivated by Grothendieck polynomials with parameter $β=1$ arising in K-theory of the flag variety. The probability weight of a permutation is proportional to the principal specialization (setting all variables to 1) of the corresponding Grothendieck polynomial. By mapping this random permutation to a version of TASEP (Totally Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process), we describe the limiting permuton and fluctuations around it as the order $n$ of the permutation grows to infinity. The fluctuations are of order $n^{\frac13}$ and have the Tracy-Widom GUE distribution, which places this algebraic (K-theoretic) model into the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang universality class.
We also investigate non-reduced pipe dreams and make progress on a recent open problem on the asymptotic number of inversions of the resulting permutation. Inspired by Stanley's question for the maximal value of principal specializations of Schubert polynomials, we resolve the analogous question for $β=1$ Grothendieck polynomials, and provide bounds for general $β$.
Marked Bumpless Pipedreams and Compatible Pairs
We construct a bijection between marked bumpless pipedreams with reverse compatible pairs, which are in bijection with not-necessarily-reduced pipedreams. This directly unifies various formulas for Grothendieck polynomials in the literature. Our bijection is a generalization of a variant of the bijection of Gao and Huang in the unmarked, reduced case.
Degrees of P-Grothendieck polynomials and regularity of Pfaffian varieties
We prove a formula for the degrees of Ikeda and Naruse's $P$-Grothendieck polynomials using combinatorics of shifted tableaux. We show this formula can be used in conjunction with results of Hamaker, Marberg, and Pawlowski to obtain an upper bound on the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of certain Pfaffian varieties known as vexillary skew-symmetric matrix Schubert varieties. Similar combinatorics additionally yields a new formula for the degree of Grassmannian Grothendieck polynomials and the regularity of Grassmannian matrix Schubert varieties, complementing a 2021 formula of Rajchgot, Ren, Robichaux, St. Dizier, and Weigandt.

Fink, Mészáros and St.Dizier showed that the Schubert polynomial $\mathfrak{S}_w(x)$ is zero-one if and only if $w$ avoids twelve permutation patterns. In this paper, we prove that the Grothendieck polynomial $\mathfrak{G}_w(x)$ is zero-one, i.e., with coefficients either 0 or $\pm$1, if and only if $w$ avoids six patterns. As applications, we show that the normalized double Schubert polynomial $N(\mathfrak{S}_w(x;y))$ is Lorentzian when $\mathfrak{G}_w(x)$ is zero-one, partially confirming a conjecture of Huh, Matherne, Mészáros and St.Dizier. Moreover, we verify several conjectures on the support and coefficients of Grothendieck polynomials posed by Mészáros, Setiabrata and St.Dizier for the case of zero-one Grothendieck polynomials.
Tropical vector bundles and matroids
We introduce a notion of tropical vector bundle on a tropical toric variety which is a tropical analogue of a torus equivariant vector bundle on a toric variety. Alternatively it can be called a toric matroid bundle. We define equivariant $K$-theory and characteristic classes of these bundles. As a particular case, we show that any matroid comes with tautological tropical toric vector bundles over the permutahedral toric variety and the corresponding equivariant $K$-classes and Chern classes recover the tautological classes of matroids constructed in the recent work of Berger-Eur-Spink-Tseng. In analogy with toric vector bundles, we define sheaf of sections and Euler characteristic as well as positivity notions such as global generation, ampleness and nefness for tropical toric vector bundles. Moreover, we prove a vanishing of higher cohomologies result. Finally, we study the splitting of our tropical toric vector bundles and, in particular, an analogue of Grothendieck's theorem on splitting of vector bundles on projective line.
Refined canonical stable Grothendieck polynomials and their duals, Part 2
This paper is the sequel of the paper under the same title with part 1, where we introduced refined canonical stable Grothendieck polynomials and their duals with two families of infinite parameters. In this paper we give combinatorial interpretations for these polynomials using generalizations of set-valued tableaux and reverse plane partitions, respectively. Our results extend to their flagged and skew versions.
A counterexample to the Ross--Yong conjecture for Grothendieck polynomials
We give a minimal counterexample for a conjecture of Ross and Yong (2015) which proposes a K-Kohnert rule for Grothendieck polynomials. We conjecture a revised version of this rule. We then prove both rules hold in the $321$-avoiding case.
Grothendieck polynomials of inverse fireworks permutations
Pipedreams are combinatorial objects that compute Grothendieck polynomials. We introduce a new combinatorial object that naturally recast the pipedream formula. From this, we obtain the first direct combinatorial formula for the top degree components of Grothendieck polynomials, also known as the Castelnuovo-Mumford polynomials. We also prove the inverse fireworks case of a conjecture of Mészáros, Setiabrata, and St. Dizier on the support of Grothendieck polynomials.
Grothendieck rings of polytopes and non-archimedean semi-algebraic sets
Let $Γ$ be a divisible subgroup of $(\mathbb{R},+)$. Our central result states that, at the level of Grothendieck groups, the classification of $Γ$-rational polyhedra in $\mathbb{R}^n$ up to affine transformations in $Γ^n\rtimes \mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{Z})$ is equivalent to the classification up to affine transformations in $Γ^n\rtimes \mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{Q})$. We prove this by giving an explicit description of these Grothendieck groups. This yields, in particular, a positive answer to the basic case of a question by Hrushovski and Kazhdan; all other cases are still open. As a second application, we give a simple description of the kernel of the motivic volume for non-archimedean semi-algebraic sets, which is a key ingredient of Hrushovski and Kazhdan's theory of motivic integration.
Special values of Grothendieck polynomials in terms of hypergeometric functions
We give some special values of Grothendieck polynomials and an explicit formula for the number of set-valued tableaux. For Young diagrams consisting of a single row or a single column, both the value and number are written by the Gauss' hypergeometric function ${}_2F_1$. For general Young diagrams, the Holman hypergeometric function $F^{(n)}$ is used to represent both the value and count. As an application, we derive a summation formula for $F^{(n)}$.

We describe two crystal structures on set-valued decomposition tableaux. These provide the first examples of interesting "$K$-theoretic" crystals on shifted tableaux. Our first crystal is modeled on a similar construction of Monical, Pechenik, and Scrimshaw for semistandard (unshifted) set-valued tableaux. Our second crystal is adapted from the "square root" operators introduced by Yu on the same set. Neither of our shifted crystals is normal, but we conjecture that our second construction is connected with a unique highest weight element. These results lead to partial progress on a conjectural formula of Cho--Ikeda for $K$-theoretic Schur $P$-functions. We also study a new category of "square root crystals" that includes our second construction and Yu's set-valued tableau crystals as examples. We observe that Buch's formula for the coefficients expanding products of symmetric Grothendieck functions has a simple description in terms of the tensor product for this category.

We provide a construction for the kromatic symmetric function $\overline{X}_G$ of a graph introduced by Crew, Pechenik, and Spirkl using combinatorial (linearly compact) Hopf algebras. As an application, we show that $\overline{X}_G$ has a positive expansion into multifundamental quasisymmetric functions. We also study two related quasisymmetric $q$-analogues of $\overline{X}_G$, which are $K$-theoretic generalizations of the quasisymmetric chromatic function of Shareshian and Wachs. We classify exactly when one of these analogues is symmetric. For the other, we derive a positive expansion into symmetric Grothendieck functions when $G$ is the incomparability graph of a natural unit interval order.
Lascoux expansion of the product of a Lascoux and a stable Grothendieck
This paper gives a tableau formula for expanding the product of a Lascoux polynomial and a stable Grothendieck polynomial into Lascoux polynomials. Lascoux and stable Grothendieck polynomials are inhomogeneous analogues of key polynomials and Stanley symmetric functions, respectively. Our formula refines the K-theoretic Littlewood-Richardson rule of Buch and extends the key expansion of key times Schur established by Haglund, Luoto, Mason, and van Willigenburg. Our proof is combinatorial, relying heavily on a novel row insertion algorithm of Huang, Shimozono and Yu.

We give a new combinatorial description for stable Grothendieck polynomials in terms of subdivisions of Gelfand-Zetlin polytopes. Moreover, these subdivisions also provide a description of Lascoux polynomials. This generalizes a similar result on key polynomials by Kiritchenko, Smirnov, and Timorin.
Constructing maximal pipedreams of double Grothendieck polynomials
Pechenik, Speyer and Weigandt defined a statistic $\mathsf{rajcode}(\cdot)$ on permutations which characterizes the leading monomial in top degree components of double Grothendieck polynomials. Their proof is combinatorial: They showed there exists a unique pipedream of a permutation $w$ with row weight $\mathsf{rajcode}(w)$ and column weight $\mathsf{rajcode}(w^{-1})$. They proposed the problem of finding a ``direct recipe'' for this pipedream. We solve this problem by providing an algorithm that constructs this pipedream via ladder moves.

For each of the four particle processes given by Dieker and Warren [arXiv:0707.1843], we show the $n$-step transition kernels are given by the (dual) (weak) refined symmetric Grothendieck functions up to a simple overall factor. We do so by encoding the particle dynamics as the basis of free fermions first introduced by the first author, which we translate into deformed Schur operators acting on partitions. We provide a direct combinatorial proof of this relationship in each case, where the defining tableaux naturally describe the particle motions.
