Asymptotic enumeration of vertex-transitive graphs of fixed valency
Let $G$ be a group and let $S$ be an inverse-closed and identity-free generating set of $G$. The \emph{Cayley graph} $\Cay(G,S)$ has vertex-set $G$ and two vertices $u$ and $v$ are adjacent if and only if $uv^{-1}\in S$. Let $CAY_d(n)$ be the number of isomorphism classes of $d$-valent Cayley graphs of order at most $n$. We show that $\log(CAY_d(n))\inΘ(d(\log n)^2)$, as $n\to\infty$. We also obtain some stronger results in the case $d=3$.

We propose a new approach to study the Kronecker coefficients by using the Schur-Weyl duality between the symmetric group and the partition algebra. We explain the limiting behavior and associated bounds in the context of the partition algebra. Our analysis leads to a uniform description of the Kronecker coefficients when one of the indexing partitions is a hook or a two-part partition.
Accurate lower bounds on two-dimensional constraint capacities from corner transfer matrices

We analyse the capacity of several two-dimensional constraint families - the exclusion, colouring, parity and charge model families. Using Baxter's corner transfer matrix formalism combined with the corner transfer matrix renormalisation group method of Nishino and Okunishi, we calculate very tight lower bounds and estimates on the growth rate of these models. Our results strongly improve previous known lower bounds, and lead to the surprising conjecture that the capacity of the even and charge(3) constraints are identical.
Triakis Solids and Harmonic Functions
We describe the harmonic functions for certain isohedral triakis solids. They are the first examples for which polyhedral harmonics is strictly larger than group harmonics.

We show that the quotients of Wang and Van Daele's universal quantum groups by their centers are simple in the sense that they have no normal quantum subgroups, thus providing the first examples of simple compact quantum groups with non-commutative fusion rings.

Given an edge-independent random graph G(n,p), we determine various facts about the cohomology of graph products of groups for the graph G(n,p). In particular, the random graph product of a sequence of finite groups is a rational duality group with probability tending to 1 as n goes to infinity. This includes random right angled Coxeter groups as a special case.
Locally arc-transitive graphs of valence $\{3,4\}$ with trivial edge kernel
In this paper we consider connected locally $G$-arc-transitive graphs with vertices of valence 3 and 4, such that the kernel $G_{uv}^{[1]}$ of the action of an edge-stabiliser on the neighourhood $Γ(u) \cup Γ(v)$ is trivial. We find nineteen finitely presented groups with the property that any such group $G$ is a quotient of one of these groups. As an application, we enumerate all connected locally arc-transitive graphs of valence ${3,4}$ on at most 350 vertices whose automorphism group contains a locally arc-transitive subgroup $G$ with $G_{uv}^{[1]} = 1$.
The Flag Descent Algebra and the Colored Eulerian Descent Algebra
We prove that the group algebra of the hyperoctahedral group contains a subalgebra corresponding to the flag descent number of Adin, Brenti, and Roichman. This algebra is in fact the span of the basis elements of the type A and type B Eulerian descent algebras. We describe a set of orthogonal idempotents which spans the flag descent algebra and prove that it contains the type A Eulerian descent algebra as a two-sided ideal. Using a new colored analogue of Stanley's $P$-partitions, we prove the existence of a colored Eulerian descent algebra which is a subalgebra of the Mantaci-Reutenauer algebra. We also describe a set of orthogonal idempotents that spans the colored Eulerian descent algebra and includes, as a special case, the familiar Eulerian idempotents in the group algebra of the symmetric group.

We generalize the Davenport transform and use it to prove that, for a (possibly non-commutative) cancellative semigroup $\mathbb A = (A, +)$ and non-empty subsets $X,Y$ of $A$ such that the subsemigroup generated by $Y$ is commutative, we have $|X + Y| \ge \min(ω(Y), |X| + |Y| - 1)$, where $ω(Y) := \sup_{y_0 \in Y \cap \mathbb A^{\times}} \inf_{y \in Y \setminus \{y_0\}} |<y - y_0>|$. This carries over the Cauchy-Davenport theorem to the broader setting of semigroups, and it implies, in particular, an extension of I. Chowla's and S.S. Pillai's theorems for cyclic groups and a notable strengthening of another generalization of the same Cauchy-Davenport theorem to commutative groups, where $ω(Y)$ in the above is replaced by the minimal order of the non-trivial subgroups of $\mathbb A$.

Hurwitz numbers count branched covers of the Riemann sphere with specified ramification, or equivalently, transitive permutation factorizations in the symmetric group with specified cycle types. Monotone Hurwitz numbers count a restricted subset of these branched covers, related to the expansion of complete symmetric functions in the Jucys-Murphy elements, and have arisen in recent work on the the asymptotic expansion of the Harish-Chandra-Itzykson-Zuber integral. In previous work we gave an explicit formula for monotone Hurwitz numbers in genus zero. In this paper we consider monotone Hurwitz numbers in higher genera, and prove a number of results that are reminiscent of those for classical Hurwitz numbers. These include an explicit formula for monotone Hurwitz numbers in genus one, and an explicit form for the generating function in arbitrary positive genus. From the form of the generating function we are able to prove that monotone Hurwitz numbers exhibit a polynomiality that is reminiscent of that for the classical Hurwitz numbers, i.e., up to a specified combinatorial factor, the monotone Hurwitz number in genus g with ramification specified by a given partition is a polynomial indexed by g in the parts of the partition.
On trivial words in finitely presented groups
We propose a numerical method for studying the cogrowth of finitely presented groups. To validate our numerical results we compare them against the corresponding data from groups whose cogrowth series are known exactly. Further, we add to the set of such groups by finding the cogrowth series for Baumslag-Solitar groups $\mathrm{BS}(N,N) = < a,b | a^N b = b a^N >$ and prove that their cogrowth rates are algebraic numbers.

The descent algebra of finite Coxeter groups is studied by many famous mathematicians like Bergeron, Brown, Howlett, or Reutenauer. Blessenohl, Hohlweg, and Schocker, for example, proved a symmetry property of the descent algebra, when it is linked to the representation theory of its Coxeter group. The interest is particularly showed for the descent algebra of symmetric group. Thibon determined the eigenvalues and their multiplicities of the action on the group algebra of symmetric group of the descent algebra element, which is the sum over all permutations weighted by q^maj. And even the author diagonalized the matrix of the action of the descent algebra element, which is the sum over all permutations weighted by the new introduced statistic desX. In this article, we give a more general result by determining the eigenvalues and their multiplicities of the action on the group algebra of finite Coxeter group of an element of its descent algebra.

In this paper, we present constructions of abelian Paley type group schemes by using multiplicative characters of finite fields and Arasu-Dillon-Player difference sets. The constructions produce many new Paley type group schemes that were previous unknown in our classification of Paley type group schemes in finite fields of small orders.
Fundamental groups of neighborhood complexes

The neighborhood complexes of graphs were introduced by Lovász in his proof of the Kneser conjecture. He showed that a certain topological property of $N(G)$ gives a lower bound for the chromatic number of $G$.
In this paper, we study a combinatorial description of the fundamental groups of the neighborhood complexes. For a positive integer $r$, we introduce the $r$-fundamental group $π_1^r(G,v)$ of a based graph $(G,v)$ and the $r$-neighborhood complex $N_r(G)$ of $G$. The $1$-neighborhood complex is the neighborhood complex. We show that the even part $π_1^{2r}(G,v)_{ev}$, which is a subgroup of $π_1^{2r}(G,v)$ with index 1 or 2, is isomorphic to the fundamental group of $(N_r(G),v)$ if $v$ is not isolated. We can use the $r$-fundamental groups to show the non-existence of graph homomorphisms. For example, we show that $π_1^3(KG_{2k+1,k})$ is isomorphic to $\mathbb{Z} /2$, and this implies that there is no graph homomorphism from $KG_{2k+1,k}$ to the 5-cycle graph $C_5$. We discuss the covering maps associated to $r$-fundamental groups.

We study the relationship between two sets of coordinates on a double Bruhat cell, the cluster variables introduced by Berenstein, Fomin, and Zelevinsky and the $\CX$-coordinates defined by the coweight parametrization of Fock and Goncharov. In these coordinates, we show that the generalized Chamber Ansatz of Fomin and Zelevinsky is a nondegenerate version of the canonical monomial transformation between the cluster variables and $\CX$-coordinates defined by a common exchange matrix. We prove this in the setting of an arbitrary symmetrizable Kac-Moody group, generalizing along the way many previous results on the double Bruhat cells of a semisimple algebraic group. In particular, we construct an upper cluster algebra structure on the coordinate ring of any double Bruhat cell in a symmetrizable Kac-Moody group, proving a conjecture of Berenstein, Fomin, and Zelevinsky.

We prove that an automorphism of order 3 of a putative binary self-dual [120, 60, 24] code C has no fixed points. Moreover, the order of the automorphism group of C divides 2^a.3.5.7.19.23.29 where a is a nonegative integer. Automorphisms of odd composite order r may occur only for r=15, 57 or r=115 with corresponding cycle structures 15-(0,0,8;0), 57-(2,0,2;0) or 115-(1,0,1;0), respectively. In case that all involutions act fixed point freely we have |Aut(C)|<=920, and Aut(C) is solvable if it contains an element of prime order p>=7. Moreover, the alternating group A_5 is the only non-abelian composition factor which may occur.

The $N\times N$ complex Hadamard matrices form a real algebraic manifold $C_N$. We have $C_N=M_N(\mathbb T)\cap\sqrt{N}U_N$, and following Tadej and Życzkowski we investigate here the computation of the enveloping tangent space $\widetilde{T}_HC_N=T_HM_N(\mathbb T)\cap T_H\sqrt{N}U_N$, and notably of its dimension $d(H)=\dim(\widetilde{T}_HC_N)$, called undephased defect of $H$. Our main result is an explicit formula for the defect of the Fourier matrix $F_G$ associated to an arbitrary finite abelian group $G=\mathbb Z_{N_1}\times...\times\mathbb Z_{N_r}$. We also comment on the general question "does the associated quantum permutation group see the defect", with a probabilistic speculation involving Diaconis-Shahshahani type variables.
Compact orbit spaces in Hilbert spaces and limits of edge-colouring models

Let $G$ be a group of orthogonal transformations of a real Hilbert space $H$. Let $R$ and $W$ be bounded $G$-stable subsets of $H$. Let $\|.\|_R$ be the seminorm on $H$ defined by $\|x\|_R:=\sup_{r\in R}|\langle r,x\rangle|$ for $x\in H$. We show that if $W$ is weakly compact and the orbit space $R^k/G$ is compact for each $k\in\oN$, then the orbit space $W/G$ is compact when $W$ is equiped with the norm topology induced by $\|.\|_R$.
As a consequence we derive the existence of limits of edge-colouring models which answers a question posed by Lovász. It forms the edge-colouring counterpart of the graph limits of Lovász and Szegedy, which can be seen as limits of vertex-colouring models.
In the terminology of de la Harpe and Jones, vertex- and edge-colouring models are called `spin models' and `vertex models' respectively.

A conic of the Veronese surface in PG(5,3) is a quadrangle. If one such quadrangle is replaced with its diagonal triangle, then one obtains a point model $K$ for Witt's 5-$(12,6,1)$ design, the blocks being the hyperplane sections containing more than three (actually six) points of $K$. As such a point model is projectively unique, the present construction yields an easy coordinate-free approach to some results obtained independently by H.S.M. Coxeter and G. Pellegrino, including a projective representation of the Mathieu group $M_{12}$ in PG(5,3).

Regular polygonal complexes in euclidean 3-space are discrete polyhedra-like structures with finite or infinite polygons as faces and with finite graphs as vertex-figures, such that their symmetry groups are transitive on the flags. The present paper and its predecessor describe a complete classification of regular polygonal complexes in 3-space. In Part I we established basic structural results for the symmetry groups, discussed operations on their generators, characterized the complexes with face mirrors as the 2-skeletons of the regular 4-apeirotopes in 3-space, and fully enumerated the simply flag-transitive complexes with mirror vector (1,2). In this paper, we complete the enumeration of all regular polygonal complexes and in particular describe the simply flag-transitive complexes for the remaining mirror vectors. It is found that, up to similarity, there are precisely 25 regular polygonal complexes which are not regular polyhedra, namely 21 simply flag-transitive complexes and 4 complexes which are 2-skeletons of regular 4-apeirotopes.
