A Mixed Robinson--Schensted--Knuth Construction in the Representation Theory of $\mathrm{GL}_n$ over Local non-Archimedean Fields
We present a simple combinatorial method for computing the socle of representations of $\mathrm{GL}_n(F)$, where $F$ is a local non-Archimedean field, parabolically induced from two ladder representations. We adapt recent approaches to such problems using the classical Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence (RSK) and introduce a new variant of RSK that we call mixed-RSK. Some combinatorial properties of this map are investigated and then used to resolve a conjecture of Erez Lapid.

Uncrowding the 5-Vertex Model: RSK and Crystal Structures
While the uncrowding algorithm on set-valued tableaux has long been instrumental in proving the Schur positivity of stable symmetric Grothendieck polynomials, lattice models have emerged as a modern framework for investigating symmetric functions, in particular symmetric Grothendieck polynomials. In this work, we synthesize these combinatorial and lattice-theoretic approaches by defining both the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth (RSK) correspondence and the uncrowding operation directly on a 5-vertex model of Motegi and Sakai and its subsequent reinterpretation by Buciumas, Scrimshaw, and Weber. Our lattice-based RSK formulation yields a powerful new result: the direct construction of the associated crystal structure on the states of the 5-vertex model.

Asymptotics of the Longest Increasing Subsequence in Random Permutations
In this paper, we examine the asymptotic behavior of the longest increasing subsequence (LIS) in a uniformly random permutation of $n$ elements. We rely on the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence, Young tableaux, and key classical results -- including the Erdős--Szekeres theorem and the Hook Length Formula -- to demonstrate that the expected LIS length grows as $2\sqrt{n}$. We review the essential variational principles of Logan--Shepp and Vershik--Kerov, which determine the limiting shape of the associated random Young diagrams, and summarize the Baik--Deift--Johansson theorem that links fluctuations of the LIS length to the Tracy--Widom distribution. Our approach focuses on providing conceptual and intuitive explanations of these results, unifying classical proofs into a single narrative and supplying fresh visual examples, while referring the reader to the original literature for detailed proofs and rigorous arguments.

Berele row-insertion and quantum symmetric pairs
The Berele row-insertion is a symplectic analogue of the Schensted row-insertion. In the present paper, we provide it with a representation theoretical interpretation via the quantum symmetric pairs of type $A\mathrm{II}$. As applications, we lift Berele's Robinson--Schensted correspondence and Kobayashi--Matsumura's Robinson--Schensted--Knuth (RSK for short) correspondence to isomorphisms of representations over a quantum symmetric pair coideal subalgebra, and establish the dual RSK correspondence of type $A\mathrm{II}$.

An extended generalization of RSK correspondence via $A$ type quiver representations
Let $λ=(λ_1 \geqslant \ldots \geqslant λ_k > 0)$. For any $c$ Coxeter element of $\mathfrak{S}_{λ_1+k-1}$, we construct a bijection from fillings of $λ$ to reverse plane partitions. We recover two previous generalizations of the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence for particular choices of Coxeter element depending on $λ$: one based on the work of, among others, Burge, Hillman, Grassl, Knuth, and uniformly presented by Gansner; the other developed by Garver, Partrias, and Thomas, and independently by Dauvergne, called Scrambled RSK. Our results in this paper develop the combinatorial consequence of our previous work of type $A_{λ_1+k}$ quivers.

An extended generalization of RSK via the combinatorics of type $A$ quiver representations
The classical Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence is a bijection from nonnegative integer matrices to pairs of semi-standard Young tableaux. Based on the work of, among others, Burge, Hillman, Grassl, Knuth and Gansner, it is known that a version of this correspondence gives, for any nonzero integer partition $λ$, a bijection from arbitrary fillings of $λ$ to reverse plane partitions of shape $λ$, via Greene--Kleitman invariants. By bringing out the combinatorial aspects of our recent results on quiver representations, we construct a family of bijections from fillings of $λ$ to reverse plane partitions of shape $λ$ parametrized by a choice of Coxeter element in a suitable symmetric group. We recover the above version of the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence for a particular choice of Coxeter element depending on $λ$.

$qt$RSK${}^*$: A probabilistic dual RSK correspondence for Macdonald polynomials
We introduce a probabilistic generalization of the dual Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence, called $qt$RSK${}^*$, depending on two parameters $q$ and $t$. This correspondence extends the $q$RS$t$ correspondence, recently introduced by the authors, and allows the first tableaux-theoretic proof of the dual Cauchy identity for Macdonald polynomials. By specializing $q$ and $t$, one recovers the row and column insertion version of the classical dual RSK correspondence as well as of $q$- and $t$-deformations thereof which are connected to $q$-Whittaker and Hall--Littlewood polynomials. When restricting to Jack polynomials and $\{0,1\}$-matrices corresponding to words, we prove that the insertion tableaux obtained by $qt$RSK${}^*$ are invariant under swapping letters in the input word. Our approach is based on Fomin's growth diagrams and the notion of probabilistic bijections.

RSK-Complete Cycle Decompositions
We characterize the class of cycle decompositions that can achieve all Young tableau shapes (except the trivial ones with a single row or a single column) under the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth (RSK) correspondence, a property that we call RSK-completeness. We prove that for even $n$, cyclic permutations comprise the only fixed cycle decomposition that is RSK-complete. For odd $n$, cyclic permutations and almost cyclic permutations which have a cycle of length $n-1$ are the only RSK-complete cycle decompositions.

Rowmotion on 321-avoiding permutations
Published • View PublicationBIB
We give a natural definition of rowmotion for $321$-avoiding permutations, by translating, through bijections involving Dyck paths and the Lalanne--Kreweras involution, the analogous notion for antichains of the positive root poset of type $A$. We prove that some permutation statistics, such as the number of fixed points, are homomesic under rowmotion, meaning that they have a constant average over its orbits. Our setting also provides a more natural description of the celebrated Armstrong--Stump--Thomas equivariant bijection between antichains and non-crossing matchings in types $A$ and $B$, by showing that it is equivalent to the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence on $321$-avoiding permutations permutations.

An insertion algorithm for multiplying Demazure characters by Schur polynomials
We introduce an insertion algorithm on Kohnert's combinatorial model for Demazure characters, generalizing Robinson--Schensted--Knuth insertion on tableaux. Our new insertion yields an explicit, nonnegative formula expressing the product of a Demazure character and a Schur polynomial as a sum of Schubert characters, partially resolving Polo's conjecture that the tensor product of Demazure modules admits a Schubert filtration.

Combinatorial encoding of Bernoulli schemes and the asymptotic behavior of Young tableaux
Published • View PublicationBIB
We consider two examples of a fully decodable combinatorial encoding of Bernoulli schemes: the encoding via Weyl simplices and the much more complicated encoding via the RSK (Robinson--Schensted--Knuth) correspondence. In the first case, the decodability is a quite simple fact, while in the second case, this is a nontrivial result obtained by D.~Romik and P.~Śniady and based on the papers~ \cite{KV}, \cite{VK}, and others. We comment on the proofs from the viewpoint of the theory of measurable partitions; another proof, using representation theory and generalized Schur--Weyl duality, will be presented elsewhere. We also study a new dynamics of Bernoulli variables on $P$-tableaux and find the limit 3D-shape of these tableaux.

A Pieri rule for Demazure characters of the general linear group
Published • View PublicationBIB
The Pieri rule is a nonnegative, multiplicity-free formula for the Schur function expansion of the product of an arbitrary Schur function with a single row Schur function. Key polynomials are characters of Demazure modules for the general linear group that generalize the Schur function basis of symmetric functions to a basis of the full polynomial ring. We prove a nonsymmetric generalization of the Pieri rule by giving a cancellation-free, multiplicity-free formula for the key polynomial expansion of the product of an arbitrary key polynomial with a single part key polynomial. Our proof is combinatorial, generalizing the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth insertion algorithm on tableaux to an insertion algorithm on Kohnert diagrams.

Pattern-Avoiding Permutation Powers
Published • View PublicationBIB
Recently, Bóna and Smith defined strong pattern avoidance, saying that a permutation $π$ strongly avoids a pattern $τ$ if $π$ and $π^2$ both avoid $τ$. They conjectured that for every positive integer $k$, there is a permutation in $S_{k^3}$ that strongly avoids $123\cdots (k+1)$. We use the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence to settle this conjecture, showing that the number of such permutations is at least $k^{k^3/2+O(k^3/\log k)}$ and at most $k^{2k^3+O(k^3/\log k)}$. We enumerate $231$-avoiding permutations of order $3$, and we give two further enumerative results concerning strong pattern avoidance. We also consider permutations whose powers all avoid a pattern $τ$. Finally, we study subgroups of symmetric groups whose elements all avoid certain patterns. This leads to several new open problems connecting the group structures of symmetric groups with pattern avoidance.

A generalization of Edelman--Greene insertion for Schubert polynomials
Edelman and Greene generalized the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence to reduced words in order to give a bijective proof of the Schur positivity of Stanley symmetric functions. Stanley symmetric functions may be regarded as the stable limits of Schubert polynomials, and similarly Schur functions may be regarded as the stable limits of Demazure characters for the general linear group. We modify the Edelman--Greene correspondence to give an analogous, explicit formula for the Demazure character expansion of Schubert polynomials. Our techniques utilize dual equivalence and its polynomial variation, but here we demonstrate how to extract explicit formulas from that machinery which may be applied to other positivity problems as well.

Crystals and trees: quasi-Kashiwara operators, monoids of binary trees, and Robinson--Schensted-type correspondences
Published • View PublicationBIB
Kashiwara's crystal graphs have a natural monoid structure that arises by identifying words labelling vertices that appear in the same position of isomorphic components. The celebrated plactic monoid (the monoid of Young tableaux), arises in this way from the crystal graph for the $q$-analogue of the general linear Lie algebra $\mathfrak{gl}_{n}$, and the so-called Kashiwara operators interact beautifully with the combinatorics of Young tableaux and with the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence. The authors previously constructed an analogous `quasi-crystal' structure for the related hypoplactic monoid (the monoid of quasi-ribbon tableaux), which has similarly neat combinatorial properties. This paper constructs an analogous `crystal-type' structure for the sylvester and Baxter monoids (the monoids of binary search trees and pairs of twin binary search trees, respectively). Both monoids are shown to arise from this structure just as the plactic monoid does from the usual crystal graph. The interaction of the structure with the sylvester and Baxter versions of the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence is studied. The structure is then applied to prove results on the number of factorizations of elements of these monoids, and to prove that both monoids satisfy non-trivial identities.

Crystallizing the hypoplactic monoid: from quasi-Kashiwara operators to the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth-type correspondence for quasi-ribbon tableaux

Crystal graphs, in the sense of Kashiwara, carry a natural monoid structure given by identifying words labelling vertices that appear in the same position of isomorphic components of the crystal. In the particular case of the crystal graph for the $q$-analogue of the special linear Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}_{n}$, this monoid is the celebrated plactic monoid, whose elements can be identified with Young tableaux. The crystal graph and the so-called Kashiwara operators interact beautifully with the combinatorics of Young tableaux and with the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence and so provide powerful combinatorial tools to work with them. This paper constructs an analogous `quasi-crystal' structure for the hypoplactic monoid, whose elements can be identified with quasi-ribbon tableaux and whose connection with the theory of quasi-symmetric functions echoes the connection of the plactic monoid with the theory of symmetric functions. This quasi-crystal structure and the associated quasi-Kashiwara operators are shown to interact just as neatly with the combinatorics of quasi-ribbon tableaux and with the hypoplactic version of the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence. A study is then made of the interaction of the crystal graph of the plactic monoid and the quasi-crystal graph for the hypoplactic monoid. Finally, the quasi-crystal structure is applied to prove some new results about the hypoplactic monoid.

An analogue of the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence and non-symmetric Cauchy kernels for truncated staircases
Published • View PublicationBIB
We prove a restriction of an analogue of the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence for semi-skyline augmented fillings, due to Mason, to multisets of cells of a staircase possibly truncated by a smaller staircase at the upper left end corner, or at the bottom right end corner. The restriction to be imposed on the pairs of semi-skyline augmented fillings is that the pair of shapes, rearrangements of each other, satisfies an inequality in the Bruhat order, w.r.t. the symmetric group, where one shape is bounded by the reverse of the other. For semi-standard Young tableaux the inequality means that the pair of their right keys is such that one key is bounded by the Schützenberger evacuation of the other. This bijection is then used to obtain %recover an expansion formula of the non-symmetric Cauchy kernel, over staircases or truncated staircases, in the basis of Demazure characters of type $A$, and the basis of Demazure atoms. The expansion implies Lascoux expansion formula, when specialised to staircases or truncated staircases, and make explicit, in the latter, the Young tableaux in the Demazure crystal by interpreting Demazure operators via elementary bubble sorting operators acting on weak compositions.
