On the Uniqueness of Balanced Complex Orthogonal Design

Complex orthogonal designs (CODs) play a crucial role in the construction of space-time block codes. Their real analog, real orthogonal designs (or equivalently, sum of squares composition formula) have a long history. Adams et al. (2011) introduced the concept of balanced complex orthogonal designs (BCODs) to address practical considerations. BCODs have a constant code rate of $1/2$ and a minimum decoding delay of $2^m$, where $2m$ is the number of columns. Understanding the structure of BCODs helps design space-time block codes, and it is also fascinating in its own right.
We prove, when the number of columns is fixed, all (indecomposable) balanced complex orthogonal designs (BCODs) have the same parameters $[2^m, 2m, 2^{m-1}]$, and moreover, they are all equivalent.

Let $p$ be an odd prime and let $k$ be a field of characteristic $p$. We provide a practical algebraic description of the representation ring of $k\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{F}_p)$ modulo projectives. We then investigate a family of modular plethysms of the natural $k\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{F}_p)$-module $E$ of the form $\nabla^ν\mathrm{Sym}^l E$ for a partition $ν$ of size less than $p$ and $0\leq l\leq p-2$. Within this family we classify both the modular plethysms of $E$ which are projective and the modular plethysms of $E$ which have only one non-projective indecomposable summand which is moreover irreducible. We generalise these results to similar classifications where modular plethysms of $E$ are replaced by $k\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{F}_p)$-modules of the form $\nabla^ν V$, where $V$ is a non-projective indecomposable $k\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{F}_p)$-module and $|ν|<p$.
On groups with chordal power graph, including a classification in the case of finite simple groups

We prove various properties on the structure of groups whose power graph is chordal. Nilpotent groups with this property have been classified by Manna, Cameron and Mehatari [The Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2021]. Here we classify the finite simple groups with chordal power graph, relative to typical number theoretic oracles. We do so by devising several sufficient conditions for the existence and non-existence of long cycles in power graphs of finite groups. We examine other natural group classes, including special linear, symmetric, generalized dihedral and quaternion groups, and we characterize direct products with chordal power graph. The classification problem is thereby reduced to directly indecomposable groups and we further obtain a list of possible socles. Lastly, we give a general bound on the length of an induced path in chordal power graphs, providing another potential road to advance the classification beyond simple groups.

We show that indecomposable two-term presilting complexes over $Π_{n}$, the preprojective algebra of $A_{n}$, are in bijection with internal $n$-simplices in the prism $Δ_{n} \times Δ_{1}$, the product of an $n$-simplex with a 1-simplex. We show further that this induces a bijection between triangulations of $Δ_{n} \times Δ_{1}$ and two-term silting complexes over $Π_{n}$ such that bistellar flips of triangulations correspond to mutations of two-term silting complexes. These bijections are shown to compatible with the known bijections involving the symmetric group.

We derive a geometric model for the module category $\operatorname{mod} \mathbf{k} Q$ of a Dynkin quiver $Q$ via the heart of a total stability condition on the bounded derived category of $\operatorname{mod} \mathbf{k} Q$. As an application, we prove Reineke's conjecture that there is a stability function on $\operatorname{mod} \mathbf{k} Q$ making any indecomposables stable.

A conjecture of Kac now a theorem asserts that the polynomial now known as the Kac polynomial, which counts the isomorphism classes of absolutely indecomposable representations of a quiver over a finite field with a given dimension vector, has non-negative integer coefficients only. In this paper, we show that, for quivers with enough loops, every Kac polynomial can be expressed as a sum of the refined Kac polynomials which are parametrized by tuples of partitions and have non-negative integer coefficients only. A closed formula for the refined Kac polynomials is given. We further introduce a new class of representations called blocks and make a conjectural interpretation of the refined Kac polynomials for quivers with enough loops in terms of the numbers of block representations.

We study the reflections of locally free Caldero-Chapoton functions associated to representations of Geiss-Leclerc-Schröer's quivers with relations for symmetrizable Cartan matrices. We prove that for rank 2 cluster algebras, non-initial cluster variables are expressed as locally free Caldero-Chapoton functions of locally free indecomposable rigid representations. Our method gives rise to a new proof of the locally free Caldero-Chapoton formulas obtained by Geiss-Leclerc-Schröer in Dynkin cases. For general acyclic skew-symmetrizable cluster algebras, we prove the formula for any non-initial cluster variable obtained by almost sink and source mutations.

Gentle algebras form a class of finite-dimensional algebras introduced by I. Assem and A. Skowroński in the 1980s. Modules over such an algebra can be described by string and band combinatorics in the associated gentle quiver from the work of M.C.R. Butler and C.M. Ringel. Any module can be naturally associated to a quiver representation. A nilpotent endomorphism of a quiver representation induces linear transformations over vector spaces at each vertex. Generically among all nilpotent endomorphisms, a well-defined Jordan form exists for these representations. We focus on subcategories additively generated by all the indecomposable representations of a gentle quiver, including a fixed vertex in their support. We show a characterization of the vertices such that the objects of this subcategory are determined up to isomorphism by their generic Jordan form.

In [Dugan-Glennon-Gunnells-Steingrimsson-2019], the authors introduce tiered trees to define combinatorial objects counting absolutely indecomposable representations of certain quivers, and torus orbits on certain homogeneous varieties. In this paper, we use Theta operators, introduced in [D'Adderio-Iraci-VandenWyngaerd-Theta-2021], to give a symmetric function formula that enumerates these trees. We then formulate a general conjecture that extends this result, a special case of which might give some insight about how to formulate a unified Delta conjecture [Haglund-Remmel-Wilson-2018].
Euclidean algorithm for a class of linear orders

Borrowing inspiration from Marcone and Montálban's one-one correspondence between the class of signed trees and the equimorphism classes of indecomposable scattered linear orders, we find a subclass of signed trees which has an analogous correspondence with equimorphism classes of indecomposable finite rank discrete linear orders.
We also introduce the class of \emph{finitely presented linear orders}-- the smallest subclass of finite rank linear orders containing $\mathbf 1$, $ω$ and $ω^*$ and closed under finite sums and lexicographic products. For this class we develop a generalization of the Euclidean algorithm where the \emph{width} of a linear order plays the role of the Euclidean norm. Using this as a tool we classify the isomorphism classes of finitely presented linear orders in terms of an equivalence relation on their presentations using \emph{3-signed trees}.

We introduce a new basis of quasisymmetric functions, the row-strict dual immaculate functions. We construct a cyclic, indecomposable 0-Hecke algebra module for these functions. Our row-strict immaculate functions are related to the dual immaculate functions of Berg-Bergeron-Saliola-Serrano-Zabrocki (2014-15) by the involution $ψ$ on the ring of quasisymmetric functions. We give an explicit description of the effect of $ψ$ on the associated 0-Hecke modules, via the poset induced by the 0-Hecke action on standard immaculate tableaux. This remarkable poset reveals other 0-Hecke submodules and quotient modules, often cyclic and indecomposable, notably for a row-strict analogue of the extended Schur functions studied in Assaf-Searles (2019).
Like the dual immaculate function, the row-strict dual immaculate function is the generating function of a suitable set of tableaux, corresponding to a specific descent set. We give a complete combinatorial and representation-theoretic picture by constructing 0-Hecke modules for the remaining variations on descent sets, and showing that \emph{all} the possible variations for generating functions of tableaux occur as characteristics of the 0-Hecke modules determined by these descent sets.

Let $n$ be a nonnegative integer. For each composition $α$ of $n$, Berg $\textit{et al.}$ introduced a cyclic indecomposable $H_n(0)$-module $\mathcal{V}_α$ with a dual immaculate quasisymmetric function as the image of the quasisymmetric characteristic. In this paper, we study $\mathcal{V}_α$'s from the homological viewpoint. To be precise, we construct a minimal projective presentation of $\mathcal{V}_α$ and a minimal injective presentation of $\mathcal{V}_α$ as well. Using them, we compute ${\rm Ext}^1_{H_n(0)}(\mathcal{V}_α, {\bf F}_β)$ and ${\rm Ext}^1_{H_n(0)}( {\bf F}_β, \mathcal{V}_α)$, where ${\bf F}_β$ is the simple $H_n(0)$-module attached to a composition $β$ of $n$. We also compute ${\rm Ext}_{H_n(0)}^i(\mathcal{V}_α,\mathcal{V}_β)$ when $i=0,1$ and $β\le_l α$, where $\le_l$ represents the lexicographic order on compositions.
Causal-net category
A causal-net is a finite acyclic directed graph. In this paper, we introduce a category, denoted by $\mathbf{Cau}$ and called causal-net category, whose objects are causal-nets and morphisms between two causal-nets are the functors between their path categories. The category $\mathbf{Cau}$ is in fact the Kleisli category of the "free category on a causal-net" monad. Firstly, we motivate the study of $\mathbf{Cau}$ and illustrate its application in the framework of causal-net condensation. We show that there are exactly six types of indecomposable morphisms, which correspond to six conventions of graphical calculi for monoidal categories. Secondly, we study several composition-closed classes of morphisms in $\mathbf{Cau}$, which characterize interesting partial orders among causal-nets, such as coarse-graining, merging, contraction, immersion-minor, topological minor, etc., and prove several useful decomposition theorems. Thirdly, we introduce a categorical framework for minor theory and use it to study several types of generalized minors in $\mathbf{Cau}$. In addition, we prove a fundamental theorem that any morphism in $\mathbf{Cau}$ is a composition of the six types of indecomposable morphisms, and show that the notions of coloring and exact minor can be understood as special kinds of minimal-quotient and sub-quotient in $\mathbf{Cau}$, respectively. Base on these results, we conclude that $\mathbf{Cau}$ is a natural setting for studying causal-nets, and the theory of $\mathbf{Cau}$ should shed new light on the category-theoretic understanding of graph theory.
Recurrence formula, positivity and polytope basis in cluster algebras via Newton polytopes
In this paper, we study the Newton polytopes of $F$-polynomials in a TSSS cluster algebra $\mathcal A$ and generalize them to a larger set consisting of polytopes $N_{h}$ associated to vectors $h\in\Z^{n}$ as well as $\widehat{\mathcal{P}}$ consisting of polytope functions $ρ_{h}$ corresponding to $N_{h}$.
The main contribution contains that
(i) obtaining a {\em recurrence construction} of the Laurent expression of a cluster variable in a cluster from its $g$-vector;
(ii) proving the subset $\mathcal{P}$ of $\widehat{\mathcal{P}}$ consisting of Laurent polynomials in $\widehat{\mathcal{P}}$ is a strongly positive $\Z Trop(Y)$-basis for $\mathcal{U}(\A)$ consisting of certain universally indecomposable Laurent polynomials when $\A$ is a cluster algebra with principal coefficients. For a cluster algebra $\mathcal A$ over arbitrary semifield $\mathbb P$ in general, $\mathcal{P}$ is a strongly positive $\Z¶$-basis for the intermediate cluster subalgebra $\mathcal{I_P(A)}$ of $\mathcal{U(A)}$. We call $\mathcal P$ the {\em polytope basis};
(iii) constructing some explicit maps among corresponding $F$-polynomials, $g$-vectors, $d$-vectors and cluster variables to characterize their relationship.
Moreover, we give three applications of (i), (ii) and (iii) respectively.

The dimension of a bipartition matrix (BPM) is the sum of the dimensions of its indecomposable factors. The dimension of an indecomposable BPM is the sum of its row, column, and entry dimensions. To compute these dimensions, we apply four routines of independent interest: (1) Factor a bipartition as a product of indecomposables; (2) recover a bipartition from its indecomposable factorization; (3) factor a BPM as a product of indecomposables; and (4) compute the "transpose-rotation" (the column dimension of a BPM is the row dimension of its transpose-rotation).
Knot theory and cluster algebras

We establish a connection between knot theory and cluster algebras via representation theory. To every knot diagram (or link diagram), we associate a cluster algebra by constructing a quiver with potential. The rank of the cluster algebra is $2n$, where $n$ is the number of crossing points in the knot diagram. We then construct $2n$ indecomposable modules $T(i)$ over the Jacobian algebra of the quiver with potential. For each $T(i)$, we show that the submodule lattice is isomorphic to the corresponding lattice of Kauffman states. We then give a realization of the Alexander polynomial of the knot as a specialization of the $F$-polynomial of $T(i)$, for every $i$. Furthermore, we conjecture that the collection of the $T(i)$ forms a cluster in the cluster algebra whose quiver is isomorphic to the opposite of the initial quiver, and that the resulting cluster automorphism is of order two.
A geometric model for syzygies over 2-Calabi-Yau tilted algebras II

In this article, we continue the study of a certain family of 2-Calabi-Yau tilted algebras, called dimer tree algebras. The terminology comes from the fact that these algebras can also be realized as quotients of dimer algebras on a disc. They are defined by a quiver with potential whose dual graph is a tree, and they are generally of wild representation type. Given such an algebra $B$, we construct a polygon $\mathcal{S}$ with a checkerboard pattern in its interior, that defines a category $\text{Diag}(\mathcal{S})$. The indecomposable objects of $\text{Diag}(\mathcal{S})$ are the 2-diagonals in $\mathcal{S}$, and its morphisms are certain pivoting moves between the 2-diagonals. We prove that the category $\text{Diag}(\mathcal{S})$ is equivalent to the stable syzygy category of the algebra $B$. This result was conjectured by the authors in an earlier paper, where it was proved in the special case where every chordless cycle is of length three.
As a consequence, we conclude that the number of indecomposable syzygies is finite, and moreover the syzygy category is equivalent to the 2-cluster category of type $\mathbb{A}$. In addition, we obtain an explicit description of the projective resolutions, which are periodic. Finally, the number of vertices of the polygon $\mathcal{S}$ is a derived invariant and a singular invariant for dimer tree algebras, which can be easily computed form the quiver.

We study semifinite harmonic functions on the zigzag graph, which corresponds to Pieri's rule for the fundamental quasisymmetric functions $\{F_λ\}$. The main problem, which we solve here, is to classify the indecomposable semifinite harmonic functions on this graph. We describe the set of classification parameters and an explicit construction that produces a semifinite indecomposable harmonic function out of every point of this set. We also establish a semifinite analog of the Vershik-Kerov ring theorem.

We study semifinite harmonic functions on arbitrary branching graphs. We give a detailed exposition of an algebraic method which allows one to classify semifinite indecomposable harmonic functions on some multiplicative branching graphs. This method was proposed by A. Wassermann in terms of operator algebras, while we rephrase, clarify, and simplify the main arguments, working only with combinatorial objects. This work was inspired by the theory of traceable factor representations of the infinite symmetric group $S(\infty)$.

We study indecomposable involutive set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation with cyclic permutation groups (cocyclic solutions). In particular, we show that there is no one-to-one correspondence between indecomposable cocyclic solutions and cocyclic braces which contradicts recent results in \cite{Rump21}.
