We study the generating functions for cylindric partitions with profile $(c_1,c_2,c_3)$ for all $c_1,c_2,c_3$ such that $c_1+c_2+c_3=5$. This allows us to discover and prove seven new $A_2$ Rogers-Ramanujan identities modulo $8$ with quadruple sums, related with work of Andrews, Schilling, and Warnaar.
New lower bounds for weak Schur partitions

This paper records some apparently new results for the partition of integer intervals [1, n] into weakly sum-free subsets. These were produced using a method closely related to that used by Schur in 1917. New lower bounds can be produced in this way for partitions of unlimited size. The asymptotic growth rate of the lower bounds, as the number of subsets increases, cannot be less than the same growth rate for strongly sum-free partitions, and therefore exceeds 3.27. Specific results for partitions into a 'small' number of subsets include $WS(6) \ge 642$, $WS(7) \ge 2146$, $WS(8) \ge 6976$, $WS(9) \ge 21848$, and $WS(10) \ge 70778$.

We study the stochastic colored six vertex (SC6V) model and its fusion. Our main result is an integral expression for natural observables of this model -- joint q-moments of height functions. This generalises a recent result of Borodin-Wheeler. The key technical ingredient is a new relation of height functions of SC6V model in neighboring points. This relation is of independent interest; we refer to it as a local relation. As applications, we give a new proof of certain symmetries of height functions of SC6V model recently established by Borodin-Gorin-Wheeler and Galashin, and new formulas for joint moments of delayed partition functions of Beta polymer.

Bessenrodt and Ono's work on additive and multiplicative properties of the partition function and DeSalvo and Pak's paper on the log-concavity of the partition function have generated many beautiful theorems and conjectures. In January 2020, the first author gave a lecture at the MPIM in Bonn on a conjecture of Chern--Fu--Tang, and presented an extension (joint work with Neuhauser) involving polynomials. Partial results have been announced. Bringmann, Kane, Rolen and Tripp provided complete proof of the Chern--Fu--Tang conjecture, following advice from Ono to utilize a recently provided exact formula for the fractional partition functions. They also proved a large proportion of Heim--Neuhauser's conjecture, which is the polynomization of Chern--Fu--Tang's conjecture. We prove several cases, not covered by Bringmann et.\ al. Finally, we lay out a general approach for proving the conjecture.

We obtain a combinatorial formula for the positive integer moments of the partition function of the $CβE_{N}$ field, or equivalently the moments of the moments of the characteristic polynomial of the $CβE_{N}$ ensemble. We then use this formula to establish the large $N$ asymptotics of these moments in the "moment-supercritical" regime. A key role is played by Jack polynomials.
Combinatorial results on $t$-cores and sums of squares
We classify the connection between $t$-cores and self-conjugate $t$-cores to sums of squares. To do so, we provide explicit maps between $t$-core partitions and self-conjugate $t$-core partitions of a positive integer $n$ to representations of certain numbers as sums of squares. For example, the self-conjugate $4$-core partition $λ=(4,1,1,1)$ corresponds uniquely to the solution $61=6^2+5^2$. As a corollary, we completely classify the relationship between $t$-cores and Hurwitz class numbers.
Using these tools, we see how certain sets of representations as sums of squares naturally decompose into families of $t$-cores. Finally, we construct an explicit map on partitions to explain the equality $2\operatorname{sc}_7(8n+1) = \operatorname{c}_4(7n+2)$ previously studied by Bringmann, Kane, and the first author.

Using partition generating function techniques, we prove $q$-series analogues of a formula of Frobenius generalizing Abel's convergence theorem for complex power series. Frobenius' result states that for $|q|<1$, $\lim_{q\to 1}(1-q)\sum_{n\geq 1} f(n) q^n $ is equal to the average value $\lim_{N\to \infty}$ $\frac{1}{N}\sum_{k=1}^{N}f(k)$ of the sequence $\{f(n)\}$ as $n\to \infty$, if the average value exists.

Suppose $s$ and $t$ are coprime positive integers, and let $σ$ be an $s$-core partition and $τ$ a $t$-core partition. In this paper we consider the set $\mathcal P_{σ,τ}(n)$ of partitions of $n$ with $s$-core $σ$ and $t$-core $τ$. We find the smallest $n$ for which this set is non-empty, and show that for this value of $n$ the partitions in $\mathcal P_{σ,τ}(n)$ (which we call $(σ,τ)$-minimal partitions) are in bijection with a certain class of $(0,1)$-matrices with $s$ rows and $t$ columns.
We then use these results in considering conjugate partitions: we determine exactly when the set $\mathcal P_{σ,τ}(n)$ consists of a conjugate pair of partitions, and when $\mathcal P_{σ,τ}(n)$ contains a unique self-conjugate partition.

Many papers have studied inequalities for partition functions. Recently, a number of papers have considered mixtures between additive and multiplicative behavior in such inequalities. In particular, Chern-Fu-Tang and Heim-Neuhauser gave conjectures on inequalities for coefficients of powers of the generating partition function. These conjectures were posed in the context of colored partitions and the Nekrasov-Okounkov formula. Here, we study the precise size of differences of products of two such coefficients. This allows us to prove the Chern-Fu-Tang conjecture and to show the Heim-Neuhauser conjecture in a certain range. The explicit error terms provided will also be useful in the future study of partition inequalities. These are laid out in a user-friendly way for the researcher in combinatorics interested in such analytic questions.
Generalization of five q-series identities of Ramanujan and unexplored weighted partition identities

Ramanujan recorded five interesting q-series identities in a section that is not as systematically arranged as the other chapters of his second notebook. These five identities do not seem to have acquired enough attention. Recently, Dixit and the third author found a one-variable generalization of one of the aforementioned five identities. From their generalized identity, they were able to derive the last three of these q-series identities, but didn't establish the first two. In the present article, we derive a one-variable generalization of the main identity of Dixit and the third author from which we successfully deduce all the five q-series identities of Ramanujan. In addition to this, we also establish a few interesting weighted partition identities from our generalized identity. In the mid 1980's, Bressoud and Subbarao found an interesting identity connecting the generalized divisor function with a weighted partition function, which they proved by means of a purely combinatorial argument. Quite surprisingly, we found an analytic proof for a generalization of the identity of Bressoud and Subbarao, starting from the fourth identity of the aforementioned five q-series identities of Ramanujan.
Muttalib--Borodin plane partitions and the hard edge of random matrix ensembles
We study probabilistic and combinatorial aspects of natural volume-and-trace weighted plane partitions and their continuous analogues. We prove asymptotic limit laws for the largest parts of these ensembles in terms of new and known hard- and soft-edge distributions of random matrix theory. As a corollary we obtain an asymptotic transition between Gumbel and Tracy--Widom GUE fluctuations for the largest part of such plane partitions, with the continuous Bessel kernel providing the interpolation. We interpret our results in terms of two natural models of directed last passage percolation (LPP): a discrete $(\max, +)$ infinite-geometry model with rapidly decaying geometric weights, and a continuous $(\min, \cdot)$ model with power weights.

Let $\mathcal O_r(n)$ be the set of $r$-regular partitions of $n$, $\mathcal D_r(n)$ the set of partitions of $n$ with parts repeated at most $r-1$ times, $\mathcal O_{1,r}(n)$ the set of partitions with exactly one part (possibly repeated) divisible by $r$, and let $\mathcal D_{1,r}(n)$ be the set of partitions in which exactly one part appears at least $r$ times. If $E_{r, t}(n)$ is the excess in the number of parts congruent to $t \pmod r$ in all partitions in $\mathcal O_r(n)$ over the number of different parts appearing at least $t$ times in all partitions in $\mathcal D_r(n)$, then $E_{r, t}(n) = |\mathcal O_{1,r}(n)| = |\mathcal D_{1,r}(n)|$. We prove this analytically and combinatorially using a bijection due to Xiong and Keith. As a corollary, we obtain the first Beck-type identity, i.e., the excess in the number of parts in all partitions in $\mathcal{O}_r(n)$ over the number of parts in all partitions in $\mathcal{D}_r(n)$ equals $(r - 1)|\mathcal{O}_{1,r}(n)|$ and also $(r - 1)|\mathcal{D}_{1,r}(n)|$. Our work provides a new combinatorial proof of this result that does not use Glaisher's bijection. We also give a new combinatorial proof based of the Xiong-Keith bijection for a second Beck-Type identity that has been proved previously using Glaisher's bijection.
The sets of flattened partitions with forbidden patterns
The study of pattern avoidance in permutations, and specifically in flattened partitions is an active area of current research. In this paper, we count the number of distinct flattened partitions over [n] avoiding a single pattern, as well as a pair of two patterns. Several counting sequences, namely Catalan numbers, powers of two, Fibonacci numbers and Motzkin numbers arise. We also consider other combinatorial statistics, namely runs and inversions, and establish some bijections in situations where the statistics coincide.

We prove that the isomonodromic tau function on a torus with Fuchsian singularities and generic monodromies in $GL(N,\mathbb{C})$ can be written in terms of a Fredholm determinant of Cauchy-Plemelj operators. We further show that the minor expansion of this Fredholm determinant is described by a series labeled by charged partitions. As an example, we show that in the case of $SL(2,\mathbb{C})$ this combinatorial expression takes the form of a dual Nekrasov-Okounkov partition function, or equivalently of a free fermion conformal block on the torus. Based on these results, we also propose a definition of the tau function of the Riemann-Hilbert problem on a torus with generic jump on the A-cycle.

Using the calculus of variations, we prove the following structure theorem for noise stable partitions: a partition of $n$-dimensional Euclidean space into $m$ disjoint sets of fixed Gaussian volumes that maximize their noise stability must be $(m-1)$-dimensional, if $m-1\leq n$. In particular, the maximum noise stability of a partition of $m$ sets in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ of fixed Gaussian volumes is constant for all $n$ satisfying $n\geq m-1$. From this result, we obtain:
(i) A proof of the Plurality is Stablest Conjecture for $3$ candidate elections, for all correlation parameters $ρ$ satisfying $0<ρ<ρ_{0}$, where $ρ_{0}>0$ is a fixed constant (that does not depend on the dimension $n$), when each candidate has an equal chance of winning.
(ii) A variational proof of Borell's Inequality (corresponding to the case $m=2$).
The structure theorem answers a question of De-Mossel-Neeman and of Ghazi-Kamath-Raghavendra. Item (i) is the first proof of any case of the Plurality is Stablest Conjecture of Khot-Kindler-Mossel-O'Donnell (2005) for fixed $ρ$, with the case $ρ\to1^{-}$ being solved recently. Item (i) is also the first evidence for the optimality of the Frieze-Jerrum semidefinite program for solving MAX-3-CUT, assuming the Unique Games Conjecture. Without the assumption that each candidate has an equal chance of winning in (i), the Plurality is Stablest Conjecture is known to be false.
Correlation Decay and the Absence of Zeros Property of Partition Functions

Absence of (complex) zeros property is at the heart of the interpolation method developed by Barvinok \cite{barvinok2017combinatorics} for designing deterministic approximation algorithms for various graph counting and computing partition functions problems. Earlier methods for solving the same problem include the one based on the correlation decay property. Remarkably, the classes of graphs for which the two methods apply sometimes coincide or nearly coincide. In this paper we show that this is more than just a coincidence. We establish that if the interpolation method is valid for a family of graphs satisfying the self-reducibility property, then this family exhibits a form of correlation decay property which is asymptotic Strong Spatial Mixing (SSM) at distances $ω(\log n)$, where $n$ is the number of nodes of the graph. This applies in particular to amenable graphs, such as graphs which are finite subsets of lattices.
Our proof is based on a certain graph polynomial representation of the associated partition function. This representation is at the heart of the design of the polynomial time algorithms underlying the interpolation method itself. We conjecture that our result holds for all, and not just amenable graphs.

We consider the family of nearest neighbour interacting particle systems on $\mathbb{Z}$ allowing $0$, $1$ or $2$ particles at a site. We parametrize a wide subfamily of processes exhibiting product blocking measure and show how this family can be "stood up" in the sense of Balázs and Bowen (2018). By comparing measures we prove new three variable Jacobi style identities, related to counting certain generalised Frobenius partitions with a $2$-repetition condition. By specialising to specific processes we produce two variable identities that are shown to relate to Jacobi triple product and various other identities of combinatorial significance. The family of $k$-exclusion processes for arbitrary $k$ are also considered and are shown to give similar Jacobi style identities relating to counting generalised Frobenius partitions with a $k$-repetition condition.
Heisenberg XX chain, non-homogeneously parameterised generating exponential, and diagonally restricted plane partitions
The mean values of non-homogeneously parameterized generating exponential are obtained and investigated for the periodic Heisenberg XX model. The norm-trace generating function of boxed plane partitions with fixed volume of their diagonal parts is obtained as N-particles average of the generating exponential. The generating function of self-avoiding walks of random turns vicious walkers is obtained in terms of the circulant matrices that leads to generalizations of the Ramus's identity. Under various specifications of the generating exponential, the N-particles averages arise for a set of inconsecutive flipped spins and for powers of the first moment of flipped spins distribution at large length of the chain. These averages are expressed through the numbers of closed trajectories with constrained initial/final positions. The estimates at large temporal parameter are expressed through the numbers of diagonally restricted plane partitions characterized by fixed values of the main diagonal trace or by fixed heights of the diagonal columns in one-to-one correspondence with the flipped spins positions.
Balanced Crown Decomposition for Connectivity Constraints
We introduce the balanced crown decomposition that captures the structure imposed on graphs by their connected induced subgraphs of a given size. Such subgraphs are a popular modeling tool in various application areas, where the non-local nature of the connectivity condition usually results in very challenging algorithmic tasks. The balanced crown decomposition is a combination of a crown decomposition and a balanced partition which makes it applicable to graph editing as well as graph packing and partitioning problems. We illustrate this by deriving improved kernelization and approximation algorithms for a variety of such problems. In particular, through this structure, we obtain the first constant-factor approximation for the Balanced Connected Partition (BCP) problem, where the task is to partition a vertex-weighted graph into $k$ connected components of approximately equal weight. We derive a 3-approximation for the two most commonly used objectives of maximizing the weight of the lightest component or minimizing the weight of the heaviest component.

The cut-rank of a set $X$ in a graph $G$ is the rank of the $X\times (V(G)-X)$ submatrix of the adjacency matrix over the binary field. A split is a partition of the vertex set into two sets $(X,Y)$ such that the cut-rank of $X$ is less than $2$ and both $X$ and $Y$ have at least two vertices. A graph is prime (with respect to the split decomposition) if it is connected and has no splits. A graph $G$ is $k^{+\ell}$-rank-connected if for every set $X$ of vertices with the cut-rank less than $k$, $\lvert X\rvert$ or $\lvert V(G)-X\rvert $ is less than $k+\ell$. We prove that every prime $3^{+2}$-rank-connected graph $G$ with at least $10$ vertices has a prime $3^{+3}$-rank-connected pivot-minor $H$ such that $\lvert V(H)\rvert =\lvert V(G)\rvert -1$. As a corollary, we show that every excluded pivot-minor for the class of graphs of rank-width at most $k$ has at most $(3.5 \cdot 6^{k}-1)/5$ vertices for $k\ge 2$. We also show that the excluded pivot-minors for the class of graphs of rank-width at most $2$ have at most $16$ vertices.
