In 1996, Michael Stiebitz proved that if $G$ is a simple graph with $δ(G)\geq s+t+1$ and $s,t\in \mathbb{Z}_{\geq 0}$, then $V(G)$ can be partitioned into two sets $A$ and $B$ such that $δ(G[A])\geq s$ and $δ(G[B])\geq t$. In 2016, Amir Ban proved a similar result for weighted graphs. Let $G$ be a simple graph with at least two vertices, let $w:E(G) \to \mathbb{r}_{>0}$ be a weight function, let $s,t \in \mathbb{R}_{\geq 0}$, and let $W=\max_{e\in E(G)} w(e)$. If $δ(G)\geq s+t+2W$, then $V(G)$ can be partitioned into two sets $A$ and $B$ such that $δ(G[A])\geq s$ and $δ(G[B])\geq t$. This motivated us to consider this partition problem for multigraphs, or equivalently for weighted graphs $(G,w)$ with $w:E(G) \to \mathbb{Z}_{\geq 1}$. We prove that if $s,t\in \mathbb{z}_{\geq 0}$ and $δ(G)\geq s+t+2W-1\geq 1$, then $V(G)$ can be partitioned into two sets $A$ and $B$ such that $δ(G[A])\geq s$ and $δ(G[B])\geq t$. We also prove a variable version of this result and show that for $K_4^-$-free graphs, the bound on the minimum degree can be decreased.

A very nice result of Bárány and Lehel asserts that every finite subset $X$ or $\mathbb R^d$ can be covered by $f(d)$ $X$-boxes (i.e. each box has two antipodal points in $X$). As shown by Gyárfás and Pálvőlgyi this result would follow from the following conjecture : If a tournament admits a partition of its arc set into $k$ quasi orders, then its domination number is bounded in terms of $k$. This question is in turn implied by the Erdős-Sands-Sauer-Woodrow conjecture : If the arcs of a tournament $T$ are colored with $k$ colors, there is a set $X$ of at most $g(k)$ vertices such that for every vertex $v$ of $T$, there is a monochromatic path from $X$ to $v$. We give a short proof of this statement. We moreover show that the general Sands-Sauer-Woodrow conjecture (which as a special case implies the stable marriage theorem) is valid for directed graphs with bounded stability number. This conjecture remains however open.

Successive ranks of a partition, which were introduced by Atkin, are the difference of the $i$th row and the $i$th column in the Ferrers graph. Recently, in the study of singular overpartitions, Andrews revisited successive ranks and parity blocks. Motivated by his work, we investigate partitions with prescribed successive rank parity blocks. The main result of this paper is the generating function of partitions with exactly $d$ successive ranks and $m$ parity blocks.

We study a one dimensional directed polymer model in an inverse-gamma random environment, known as the log-gamma polymer, in three different geometries: point-to-line, point-to-half line and when the polymer is restricted to a half space with end point lying free on the corresponding half line.Via the use of A.N.Kirillov's geometric Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence, we compute the Laplace transform of the partition functions in the above geometries in terms of orthogonal Whittaker functions, thus obtaining new connections between the ubiquitous class of Whittaker functions and exactly solvable probabilistic models. In the case of the first two geometries we also provide multiple contour integral formulae for the corresponding Laplace transforms. Passing to the zero-temperature limit, we obtain new formulae for the corresponding last passage percolation problems with exponential weights.

We give an explicit combinatorial formula for the Schur expansion of Macdonald polynomials indexed by partitions with second part at most two. This gives a uniform formula for both hook and two column partitions. The proof comes as a corollary to the result that generalized dual equivalence classes of permutations are unions of standard dual equivalence classes of permutations for certain cases, establishing an earlier conjecture of the author.
On the dimension of downsets of integer partitions and compositions
We characterize the downsets of integer partitions (ordered by containment of Ferrers diagrams) and compositions (ordered by the generalized subword order) which have finite dimension in the sense of Dushnik and Miller. In the case of partitions, while the set of all partitions has infinite dimension, we show that every proper downset of partitions has finite dimension. For compositions we identify four minimal downsets of infinite dimension and establish that every downset which does not contain one of these four has finite dimension.

The isotropic matroid $M[IAS(G)]$ of a looped simple graph $G$ is a binary matroid equivalent to the isotropic system of $G$. In general, $M[IAS(G)]$ is not regular, so it cannot be represented over fields of characteristic $\neq 2$. The ground set of $M[IAS(G)]$ is denoted $W(G)$; it is partitioned into 3-element subsets corresponding to the vertices of $G$. When the rank function of $M[IAS(G)]$ is restricted to subtransversals of this partition, the resulting structure is a multimatroid denoted $\mathcal{Z}_{3}(G)$. In this paper we prove that $G$ is a circle graph if and only if for every field $\mathbb{F}$, there is an $\mathbb{F}$-representable matroid with ground set $W(G)$, which defines $\mathcal{Z}_{3}(G)$ by restriction. We connect this characterization with several other circle graph characterizations that have appeared in the literature.
Concerning partition regular matrices
A finite or infinite matrix $A$ is image partition regular provided that whenever $\mathbb N$ is finitely colored, there must be some $\vec{x}$ with entries from $\mathbb N$ such that all entries of $A\vec{x}$ are in some color class. In [6] and [8], the notion of centrally image partition regular matrices were introduced to extend the results of finite image partition regular matrices to infinite image partition regular matrices. It was shown that centrally image partition regular matrices are closed under diagonal sum. In the present paper, we show that the diagonal sum of two matrices, one of which comes from the class of all Milliken-Taylor matrices and the other from a suitable subclass of the class of all centrally image partition regular matrices is also image partition regular. This will produce more image partition regular matrices. We also study the multiple structures within one cell of a finite partition of $\mathbb N$ $\cdot$

Stability and chemistry, both exohedral and endohedral, of fullerenes are critically dependent on the distribution of their obligatory 12 pentagonal faces. It is well known that there are infinitely many IPR-fullerenes and that the pentagons in these fullerenes can be at an arbitrarily large distance from each other. IPR-fullerenes can be described as fullerenes in which each connected cluster of pentagons has size 1. In this paper we study the combinations of cluster sizes that can occur in fullerenes and whether the clusters can be at an arbitrarily large distance from each other. For each possible partition of the number 12, we are able to decide whether the partition describes the sizes of pentagon clusters in a possible fullerene, and state whether the different clusters can be at an arbitrarily large distance from each other. We will prove that all partitions with largest cluster of size 5 or less can occur in an infinite number of fullerenes with the clusters at an arbitrarily large distance of each other, that 9 partitions occur in only a finite number of fullerene isomers and that 15 partitions do not occur at all in fullerenes.
On Combinatorial Properties of Points and Polynomial Curves
Many combinatorial properties of a point set in the plane are determined by the set of possible partitions of the point set by a line. Their essential combinatorial properties are well captured by the axioms of oriented matroids. In fact, Goodman and Pollack (Journal of Combinatorial Theory, Series A, Volume 37, pp. 257-293, 1984) proved that the axioms of oriented matroids of rank $3$ completely characterize the sets of possible partitions arising from a natural topological generalization of configurations of points and lines. In this paper, we introduce a new class of oriented matroids, called degree-$k$ oriented matroids, which captures essential combinatorial properties of the possible partitions of point sets in the plane by the graphs of polynomial functions of degree $k$. We prove that the axiom of degree-$k$ oriented matroids completely characterizes the sets of possible partitions arising from a natural topological generalization of configurations formed by points and the graphs of polynomial functions degree $k$. It turns out that the axiom of degree-$k$ oriented matroids coincides with the axiom of ($k+2$)-signotopes, which was introduced by Felsner and Weil (Discrete Applied Mathematics, Volume 109, pp. 67-94, 2001) in a completely different context. Our result gives a two-dimensional geometric interpretation for ($k+2$)-signotopes and also for single element extensions of cyclic hyperplane arrangements in $\mathbb{R}^{n-k-3}$.
On a dual and an overpartition generalization of a family of identities of Andrews
We present a dual of a family of partition identities of Andrews involving partitions with no repeated odd parts (among other conditions), along with an overpartition generalization that encapsulates both families. These were discovered during the course of research for an upcoming article by the authors along with Debajyoti Nandi. The proof uses Appell's comparison theorem.
Minimal obstructions to $2$-polar cographs

A graph is a cograph if it is $P_4$-free. A $k$-polar partition of a graph $G$ is a partition of the set of vertices of $G$ into parts $A$ and $B$ such that the subgraph induced by $A$ is a complete multipartite graph with at most $k$ parts, and the subgraph induced by $B$ is a disjoint union of at most $k$ cliques with no other edges.
It is known that $k$-polar cographs can be characterized by a finite family of forbidden induced subgraphs, for any fixed $k$. A concrete family of such forbidden induced subgraphs is known for $k=1$, since $1$-polar graphs are precisely split graphs. For larger $k$ such families are not known, and Ekim, Mahadev, and de Werra explicitely asked for the family for $k=2$. In this paper we provide such a family, and show that the graphs can be obtained from four basic graphs by a natural operation that preserves $2$-polarity and also preserves the condition of being a cograph. We do not know such an operation for $k > 2$, nevertheless we believe that the results and methods discussed here will also be useful for higher $k$.
On Hamilton Cycle Decompositions of Tensor Products of Graphs
A Hamiltonian decomposition of $G$ is a partition of its edge set into disjoint Hamilton cycles. Manikandan and Paulraja conjectured that if $G$ and $H$ are Hamilton cycle decomposable circulant graphs with at least one of them is nonbipartite, then their tensor product is Hamilton cycle decomposable. In this paper, we have proved that, if $G$ is a Hamilton cycle decomposable circulant graph with certain properties and $H$ is a Hamilton cycle decomposable multigraph, then their tensor product is Hamilton cycle decomposable. In particular, tensor products of certain sparse Hamilton cycle decomposable circulant graphs are Hamilton cycle decomposable.
Preorder Construct on Simple Undirected Graphs
We construct a novel preorder on the set of nodes of a simple undirected graph. We prove that the preorder (induced by the topology of the graph) is preserved, e.g., by the logistic dynamical system (both in discrete and continuous time). Moreover, the underlying equivalence relation of the preorder corresponds to the coarsest equitable partition (CEP). This will further imply that the logistic dynamical system on a graph preserves its coarsest equitable partition. The results provide a nontrivial invariant set for the logistic and the like dynamical systems, as we show. We note that our construct provides a functional characterization for the CEP as an alternative to the pure set theoretical iterated degree sequences characterization. The construct and results presented might have independent interest for analysis on graphs or qualitative analysis of dynamical systems over networks.
Independence-Domination duality in weighted graphs

Given a partition ${\mathcal V}=(V_1, \ldots,V_m)$ of the vertex set of a graph $G$, an {\em independent transversal} (IT) is an independent set in $G$ that contains one vertex from each $V_i$. A {\em fractional IT} is a non-negative real valued function on $V(G)$ that represents each part with total weight at least $1$, and belongs as a vector to the convex hull of the incidence vectors of independent sets in the graph. It is known that if the domination number of the graph induced on the union of every $k$ parts $V_i$ is at least $k$, then there is a fractional IT. We prove a weighted version of this result. This is a special case of a general conjecture, on the weighted version of a duality phenomenon, between independence and domination in pairs of graphs.

Let $F(x)=\prod_{n=0}^{\infty}(1-x^{2^{n}})$ be the generating function for the Prouhet-Thue-Morse sequence $((-1)^{s_{2}(n)})_{n\in\N}$. In this paper we initiate the study of the arithmetic properties of coefficients of the power series expansions of the function $$ F_{t}(x)=F(x)^{t}=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}f_{n}(t)x^{n}. $$ For $t\in\N_{+}$ the sequence $(f_{n}(t))_{n\in\N}$ is the Cauchy convolution of $t$ copies of the Prouhet-Thue-Morse sequence. For $t\in\Z_{<0}$ the $n$-th term of the sequence $(f_{n}(t))_{n\in\N}$ counts the number of representations of the number $n$ as a sum of powers of 2 where each summand can have one among $-t$ colors.
Among other things, we present a characterization of the solutions of the equations $f_{n}(2^k)=0$, where $k\in\N$, and $f_{n}(3)=0$. Next, we present the exact value of the 2-adic valuation of the number $f_{n}(1-2^{m})$ - a result which generalizes the well known expression concerning the 2-adic valuation of the values of the binary partition function introduced by Euler and studied by Churchhouse and others.

In the interest of finding the minimum additive generating set for the set of $\boldsymbol{s}$-lecture hall partitions, we compute the Hilbert bases for the $\boldsymbol{s}$-lecture hall cones in certain cases. In particular, we compute the Hilbert bases for two well-studied families of sequences, namely the $1\mod k$ sequences and the $\ell$-sequences. Additionally, we provide a characterization of the Hilbert bases for $\boldsymbol{u}$-generated Gorenstein $\boldsymbol{s}$-lecture hall cones in low dimensions.

In the study of determinant formulas for Schur functions, Hamel and Goulden introduced a class of Giambelli-type matrices with respect to outside decompositions of partition diagrams, which unify the Jacobi-Trudi matrices, the Giambelli matrices and the Lascoux-Pragacz matrices. Stanley determined the Smith normal form of a specialized Jacobi-Trudi matrix. Motivated by Stanley's work, we obtain the Smith normal form of a specialized Giambelli matrix and a specialized Lascoux-Pragacz matrix. Furthermore, we show that, for a given partition, the Smith normal form of any specialized Giambelli-type matrix can be obtained from that of the corresponding specialization of the classical Giambelli matrix by a sequence of stabilization operations.
Combined Properties of Finite Sums And Finite products near zero
It was proved that whenever N is partitioned into finitely many cells, one cell must contain arbitrary length geo-arithmetic progressions. It was also proved that arithmetic and geometric progressions can be nicely intertwined in one cell of partition, whenever N is partitioned into finitely many cells. In this article we shall prove that similar types of results also hold near zero in some suitable dense subsemigroup S of ((0; 1) ; +), using the Stone- Cech compactification of ?S.
Improvements on Spectral Bisection

We investigate combinatorial properties of certain configurations of a graph partition which are related to the minimality of a cut. We show that such configurations are related to the third eigenvector of the Laplacian matrix. It is well known that the second eigenvector encodes structural information, and that can be used to approximate a minimum bisection. In this paper, we show that the third eigenvector carries structural information as well. We then provide a new spectral bisection algorithm using both eigenvectors. The new algorithm is guaranteed to return a cut that is smaller or equal to the one returned by the classic spectral bisection. Also, we provide a spectral algorithm that can refine a given partition and produce a smaller cut.
