Plabic links, quivers, and skein relations
Published • View PublicationBIB
We study relations between cluster algebra invariants and link invariants. First, we show that several constructions of positroid links (permutation links, Richardson links, grid diagram links, plabic graph links) give rise to isotopic links. For a subclass of permutations arising from concave curves, we also provide isotopies with the corresponding Coxeter links. Second, we associate a point count polynomial to an arbitrary locally acyclic quiver. We conjecture an equality between the top $a$-degree coefficient of the HOMFLY polynomial of a plabic graph link and the point count polynomial of its planar dual quiver. We prove this conjecture for leaf recurrent plabic graphs, which includes reduced plabic graphs and plabic fences as special cases.

Landau-Ginzburg potentials via projective representations
Published • View PublicationBIB
We interpret the Landau-Ginzburg potentials associated to Gross-Hacking-Keel-Kontsevich's partial compactifications of cluster varieties as F-polynomials of projective representations of Jacobian algebras. Along the way, we show that both the projective and the injective representations of Jacobi-finite quivers with potential are well-behaved under Derksen-Weyman-Zelevinsky's mutations of representations.

Geometric model for module categories of Dynkin quivers via hearts of total stability conditions
Published • View PublicationBIB
We derive a geometric model for the module category $\operatorname{mod} \mathbf{k} Q$ of a Dynkin quiver $Q$ via the heart of a total stability condition on the bounded derived category of $\operatorname{mod} \mathbf{k} Q$. As an application, we prove Reineke's conjecture that there is a stability function on $\operatorname{mod} \mathbf{k} Q$ making any indecomposables stable.

q-Whittaker functions, finite fields, and Jordan forms
Published • View PublicationBIB
The $q$-Whittaker function $W_λ(\mathbf{x};q)$ associated to a partition $λ$ is a $q$-analogue of the Schur function $s_λ(\mathbf{x})$, and is defined as the $t=0$ specialization of the Macdonald polynomial $P_λ(\mathbf{x};q,t)$. We show combinatorially how to expand $W_λ(\mathbf{x};q)$ in terms of partial flags compatible with a nilpotent endomorphism over the finite field of size $1/q$. This yields an expression analogous to a well-known formula for the Hall-Littlewood functions. We show that considering pairs of partial flags and taking Jordan forms leads to a probabilistic bijection between nonnegative-integer matrices and pairs of semistandard tableaux of the same shape, proving the Cauchy identity for $q$-Whittaker functions. We call our probabilistic bijection the $q$-Burge correspondence, and prove that in the limit as $q\to 0$, we recover a description of the classical Burge correspondence (also known as column RSK) due to Rosso (2012). A key step in the proof is the enumeration of an arbitrary double coset of $\text{GL}_n$ modulo two parabolic subgroups, which we find to be of independent interest. As an application, we use the $q$-Burge correspondence to count isomorphism classes of certain modules over the preprojective algebra of a type $A$ quiver (i.e. a path), refined according to their socle filtrations. This develops a connection between the combinatorics of symmetric functions and the representation theory of preprojective algebras.

Zonotopal algebras, orbit harmonics, and Donaldson-Thomas invariants of symmetric quivers
Published • View PublicationBIB
We apply the method of orbit harmonics to the set of break divisors and orientable divisors on graphs to obtain the central and external zonotopal algebras respectively. We then relate a construction of Efimov in the context of cohomological Hall algebras to the central zonotopal algebra of a graph $G_{Q,γ}$ constructed from a symmetric quiver $Q$ with enough loops and a dimension vector $γ$. This provides a concrete combinatorial perspective on the former work, allowing us to identify the quantum Donaldson-Thomas invariants as the Hilbert series of the space of $S_γ$-invariants of the Postnikov-Shapiro slim subgraph space attached to $G_{Q,γ}$. The connection with orbit harmonics in turn allows us to give a manifestly nonnegative combinatorial interpretation to numerical Donaldson-Thomas invariants as the number of $S_γ$-orbits under the permutation action on the set of break divisors on $G_{Q,γ}$. We conclude with several representation-theoretic consequences, whose combinatorial ramifications may be of independent interest.
Cluster structures on braid varieties
Published • View PublicationBIB
We show the existence of cluster $\mathcal{A}$-structures and cluster Poisson structures on any braid variety, for any simple Lie group. The construction is achieved via weave calculus and a tropicalization of Lusztig's coordinates. Several explicit seeds are provided and the quiver and cluster variables are readily computable. We prove that these upper cluster algebras equal their cluster algebras, show local acyclicity, and explicitly determine their DT-transformations as the twist automorphisms of braid varieties. The main result also resolves the conjecture of B. Leclerc on the existence of cluster algebra structures on the coordinate rings of open Richardson varieties.

Quivers and path semigroups characterized by locality conditions
Published • View PublicationBIB
The notion of locality semigroups was recently introduced with motivation from locality in convex geometry and quantum field theory. We show that there is a natural correspondence between locality sets and quivers which leads to a concrete class of locality semigroups given by the paths of quivers. Further these path semigroups from paths are precisely the free objects in the category of locality semigroups with a rigid condition. This characterization gives a universal property of path algebras and at the same time a combinatorial realization of free rigid locality semigroups.

A refinement of the Kac polynomials for quivers with enough loops
Published • View PublicationBIB
A conjecture of Kac now a theorem asserts that the polynomial now known as the Kac polynomial, which counts the isomorphism classes of absolutely indecomposable representations of a quiver over a finite field with a given dimension vector, has non-negative integer coefficients only. In this paper, we show that, for quivers with enough loops, every Kac polynomial can be expressed as a sum of the refined Kac polynomials which are parametrized by tuples of partitions and have non-negative integer coefficients only. A closed formula for the refined Kac polynomials is given. We further introduce a new class of representations called blocks and make a conjectural interpretation of the refined Kac polynomials for quivers with enough loops in terms of the numbers of block representations.

Locally free Caldero-Chapoton functions via reflections
Published • View PublicationBIB
We study the reflections of locally free Caldero-Chapoton functions associated to representations of Geiss-Leclerc-Schröer's quivers with relations for symmetrizable Cartan matrices. We prove that for rank 2 cluster algebras, non-initial cluster variables are expressed as locally free Caldero-Chapoton functions of locally free indecomposable rigid representations. Our method gives rise to a new proof of the locally free Caldero-Chapoton formulas obtained by Geiss-Leclerc-Schröer in Dynkin cases. For general acyclic skew-symmetrizable cluster algebras, we prove the formula for any non-initial cluster variable obtained by almost sink and source mutations.

Some Identities in Quantum Torus Arising from Ringel-Hall Algebras
We define two classes of representations of quivers over arbitrary fields, called monomorphic representations and epimorphic representations. We show that every representation has a unique maximal nilpotent subrepresentation and the associated quotient is always monomorphic, and every representation has a unique maximal epimorphic subrepresentation and the associated quotient is always nilpotent. The uniquenesses of such subrepresenations imply two identities in the Ringel-Hall algebra. By applying Reineke's integration map, we obtain two identities in the corresponding quantum torus.

Eigenvalue bounds of the Kirchhoff Laplacian
Published • View PublicationBIB
We prove that each eigenvalue l(k) of the Kirchhoff Laplacian K of a graph or quiver is bounded above by d(k)+d(k-1) for all k in {1,...,n}. Here l(1),...,l(n) is a non-decreasing list of the eigenvalues of K and d(1),..,d(n) is a non-decreasing list of vertex degrees with the additional assumption d(0)=0. We also prove that in general the weak Brouwer-Haemers lower bound d(k) + (n-k) holds for all eigenvalues l(k) of the Kirchhoff matrix of a quiver.

Jordan recoverability of some subcategories of modules over gentle algebras
Published in B. Dequêne, Jordan recoverability of some subcategories of modules over gentle algebras, Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra, Volume 228, Issue 3, 2024 • View PublicationBIB
Gentle algebras form a class of finite-dimensional algebras introduced by I. Assem and A. Skowroński in the 1980s. Modules over such an algebra can be described by string and band combinatorics in the associated gentle quiver from the work of M.C.R. Butler and C.M. Ringel. Any module can be naturally associated to a quiver representation. A nilpotent endomorphism of a quiver representation induces linear transformations over vector spaces at each vertex. Generically among all nilpotent endomorphisms, a well-defined Jordan form exists for these representations. We focus on subcategories additively generated by all the indecomposable representations of a gentle quiver, including a fixed vertex in their support. We show a characterization of the vertices such that the objects of this subcategory are determined up to isomorphism by their generic Jordan form.

Homological algebra of Nakayama algebras and 321-avoiding permutations
Published • View PublicationBIB
Linear Nakayama algebras over a field $K$ are in natural bijection to Dyck paths and Dyck paths are in natural bijection to 321-avoiding bijections via the Billey-Jockusch-Stanley bijection. Thus to every 321-avoiding permutation $π$ we can associate in a natural way a linear Nakayama algebra $A_π$. We give a homological interpretation of the fixed points statistic of 321-avoiding permutations using Nakayama algebras with a linear quiver. We furthermore show that the space of self-extension for the Jacobson radical of a linear Nakayama algebra $A_π$ is isomorphic to $K^{\mathfrak{s}(π)}$, where $\mathfrak{s}(π)$ is defined as the cardinality $k$ such that $π$ is the minimal product of transpositions of the form $s_i=(i,i+1)$ and $k$ is the number of distinct $s_i$ that appear.

Categorifications of Non-Integer Quivers: Types $H_4$, $H_3$ and $I_2(2n+1)$
Published • View PublicationBIB
We define the notion of a weighted unfolding of quivers with real weights, and use this to provide a categorification of mutations of quivers of finite types $H_4$, $H_3$ and $I_2(2n+1)$. In particular, the (un)folding induces a semiring action on the categories associated to the unfolded quivers of types $E_8$, $D_6$ and $A_{2n}$ respectively. We then define the tropical seed pattern on the folded quivers, which includes $c$- and $g$-vectors, and show its compatibility with the unfolding.

Red sizes of quivers
Published in Arnold Mathematical Journal (2023) • View PublicationBIB
In this article, we will expand on the notions of maximal green and reddening sequences for quivers associated to cluster algebras. The existence of these sequences has been studied for a variety of applications related to Fomin and Zelevinsky's cluster algebras. Ahmad and Li considered a numerical measure of how close a quiver is to admitting a maximal green sequence called a red number. In this paper we generalized this notion to what we call unrestricted red numbers which are related to reddening sequences. In addition to establishing this more general framework we completely determine the red numbers and unrestricted red numbers for all finite mutation type quivers. Furthermore, we give conjectures on the possible values of red numbers and unrestricted red numbers in general.

Combinatorics of Exceptional Sequences of Type $\tilde{\mathbb{A}}_n$
It is known that there are infinitely many exceptional sequences of quiver representations for Euclidean quivers. In this paper we study those of type $\tilde{\mathbb{A}}_n$ and classify them into finitely many parametrized families. We first give a bijection between exceptional collections and a combinatorial object known as strand diagrams. We will then realize these strand diagrams as chord diagrams and then arc diagrams on an annulus. Using arc diagrams, we will define parametrized families of exceptional collections and use arc diagrams to show that there are finitely many such families. We moreover show that these families of exceptional collections are in bijection with equivalence classes of small arc diagrams. Finally, we provide an algebraic explanation of parametrized families using the transjective component of the bounded derived category.

Faces of Directed Edge Polytopes
Given a finite quiver (directed graph) without loops and multiedges, the convex hull of the column vector of the incidence matrix is called the directed edge polytope and is an interesting example of lattice polytopes. In this paper, we give a complete characterization of facets of the directed edge polytope of an arbitrary finite quiver without loops and multiedges in terms of the connectivity and the existence of a rank function. Our result can be regarded as an extension of the result of Higashitani et al. on facets of symmetric edge polytopes to directed edge polytopes. When the quiver in question has a rank function, we obtain a characterization of faces of arbitrary dimensions.
Cluster Algebras: Network Science and Machine Learning
Published in J.Comput.Algebra 8 (2023) 100008 • View PublicationBIB
Cluster algebras have recently become an important player in mathematics and physics. In this work, we investigate them through the lens of modern data science, specifically with techniques from network science and machine learning. Network analysis methods are applied to the exchange graphs for cluster algebras of varying mutation types. The analysis indicates that when the graphs are represented without identifying by permutation equivalence between clusters an elegant symmetry emerges in the quiver exchange graph embedding. The ratio between number of seeds and number of quivers associated to this symmetry is computed for finite Dynkin type algebras up to rank 5, and conjectured for higher ranks. Simple machine learning techniques successfully learn to classify cluster algebras using the data of seeds. The learning performance exceeds 0.9 accuracies between algebras of the same mutation type and between types, as well as relative to artificially generated data.

Gentle algebras arising from surfaces with orbifold points of order 3, Part I: scattering diagrams
Published • View PublicationBIB
To each triangulation of any surface with marked points on the boundary and orbifold points of order three, we associate a quiver (with loops) with potential whose Jacobian algebra is finite dimensional and gentle. We study the stability scattering diagrams of such gentle algebras and use them to prove that the Caldero--Chapoton map defines a bijection between reachable $τ$-rigid pairs and cluster monomials of the generalized cluster algebra associated to the surface by Chekhov and Shapiro.
