In the paper, the authors establish Maclaurin's series expansions and series identities for positive integer powers of the inverse sine function, for positive integer powers of the inverse hyperbolic sine function, for the composite of incomplete gamma functions with the inverse hyperbolic sine function, for positive integer powers of the inverse tangent function, and for positive integer powers of the inverse hyperbolic tangent function, in terms of the first kind Stirling numbers and binomial coefficients, apply the newly established Maclaurin's series expansion for positive integer powers of the inverse sine function to derive a closed-form formula for specific values of partial Bell polynomials and to derive a series representation of the generalized logsine function, and deduce several combinatorial identities involving the first kind Stirling numbers. Some of these results simplify and unify some known ones. All of these newly established Maclaurin's series expansions of positive integer powers of the inverse (hyperbolic) sine and tangent functions can be used to derive infinite series representations of the circular constant Pi and of positive integer powers of Pi.

This work deals with a new generalization of $r$-Stirling numbers using $l$-tuple of permutations and partitions called $(l,r)$-Stirling numbers of both kinds. We study various properties of these numbers using combinatorial interpretations and symmetric functions. Also, we give a limit representation of the multiple zeta function using $(l,r)$-Stirling of the first kind.

A superdiagonal composition is one in which the $i$-th part or summand is of size greater than or equal to $i$. In this paper, we study the number of palindromic superdiagonal compositions and colored superdiagonal compositions. In particular, we give generating functions and explicit combinatorial formulas involving binomial coefficients and Stirling numbers of the first kind.
Merging-Free Partitions and Run-Sorted Permutations
In this paper, we study merging-free partitions with their canonical forms and run-sorted permutations. We give a combinatorial proof of the conjecture made by Nabawanda et al. We describe the distribution of the statistics of runs and right-to-left minima over the set of run-sorted permutations and we give the exponential generating function for their joint distribution. We show the number of right-to-left minima is given by the shifted distribution of the Stirling number of the second kind. We also prove that the non-crossing merging-free partitions are enumerated by powers of 2. We use one of the constructive proofs given in the paper to implement an algorithm for the exhaustive generation of run-sorted permutations by number of runs.

We study sums of the form $\sum_{k=m}^n a_{nk} b_{km}$, where $a_{nk}$ and $b_{km}$ are binomial coefficients or unsigned Stirling numbers. In a few cases they can be written in closed form. Failing that, the sums still share many common features: combinatorial interpretations, Pascal-like recurrences, inverse relations with their signed versions, and interpretations as coefficients of change between polynomial bases.
A local injective proof of log-concavity for increasing spanning forests

We give an explicit combinatorial proof of a weighted version of strong log-concavity for the generating polynomial of increasing spanning forests of a finite simple graph equipped with a total ordering of the vertices. In contrast to similar proofs in the literature, our injection is local in the sense that it proceeds by moving a single edge from one forest to the other. In the particular case of the complete graph, this gives a new combinatorial proof of log-concavity of unsigned Stirling numbers of the first kind where a pair of permutations is transformed into a new pair by breaking a single cycle in the first permutation and gluing two cycles in the second permutation, while all the other spectator cycles are left untouched.

In this paper, a new form of poly-Genocchi polynomials is defined by means of poly-logarithm, namely, the Apostol-type poly-Genocchi polynomials of higher order with parameters a, b and c. Several properties of these polynomials are established including some recurrence relations and explicit formulas, which express these higher order Apostol-type poly-Genocchi polynomials in terms of Stirling numbers of the second kind, Apostol-type Bernoulli and Frobenius polynomials of higher order. Moreover, certain differential identity is obtained that leads this new form of poly-Genocchi polynomials to be classified as Appell polynomials and, consequently, draw more properties using some theorems on Appell polynomials. Furthermore, a symmetrized generalization of this new form of poly-Genocchi polynomials is introduced that possesses a double generating function. Finally, the type 2 Apostol-poly-Genocchi polynomials with parameters a, b and c are defined using the concept of polyexponential function and several identities are derived, two of which show the connections of these polynomials with Stirling numbers of the first kind and the type 2 Apostol-type poly-Bernoulli polynomials.
The Universality of the Resonance Arrangement and its Betti Numbers

The resonance arrangement $\mathcal{A}_n$ is the arrangement of hyperplanes which has all non-zero $0/1$-vectors in $\mathbb{R}^n$ as normal vectors. It is the adjoint of the Braid arrangement and is also called the all-subsets arrangement. The first result of this article shows that any rational hyperplane arrangement is the minor of some large enough resonance arrangement.
Its chambers appear as regions of polynomiality in algebraic geometry, as generalized retarded functions in mathematical physics and as maximal unbalanced families that have applications in economics. One way to compute the number of chambers of any real arrangement is through the coefficients of its characteristic polynomial which are called Betti numbers. We show that the Betti numbers of the resonance arrangement are determined by a fixed combination of Stirling numbers of the second kind. Lastly, we develop exact formulas for the first two non-trivial Betti numbers of the resonance arrangement.

We present new proofs for some summation identities involving Stirling numbers of both first and second kind. The two main identities show a connection between Stirling numbers and Bessel numbers. Our method is based on solving a particular recurrence relation in two different ways and comparing the coefficients in the resulting polynomial expressions. We also briefly discuss a probabilistic setting where this recurrence relation occurs.
Angle sums of random polytopes

For two families of random polytopes we compute explicitly the expected sums of the conic intrinsic volumes and the Grassmann angles at all faces of any given dimension of the polytope under consideration. As special cases, we compute the expected sums of internal and external angles at all faces of any fixed dimension. The first family are the Gaussian polytopes defined as convex hulls of i.i.d. samples from a non-degenerate Gaussian distribution in $\mathbb R^d$. The second family are convex hulls of random walks with exchangeable increments satisfying certain mild general position assumption. The expected sums are expressed in terms of the angles of the regular simplices and the Stirling numbers, respectively. There are non-trivial analogies between these two settings. Further, we compute the angle sums for Gaussian projections of arbitrary polyhedral sets, of which the Gaussian polytopes are a special case. Also, we show that the expected Grassmann angle sums of a random polytope with a rotationally invariant law are invariant under affine transformations. Of independent interest may be also results on the faces of linear images of polyhedral sets. These results are well known but it seems that no detailed proofs can be found in the existing literature.

We consider the simplices $$ K_n^A=\{x\in\mathbb{R}^{n+1}:x_1\ge x_2\ge \ldots\ge x_{n+1},x_1-x_{n+1}\le 1,x_1+\ldots+x_{n+1}=0\} $$ and $$ K_n^B=\{x\in\mathbb{R}^n:1\ge x_1\ge x_2\ge \ldots\ge x_n\ge 0\}, $$ which are called the Schläfli orthoschemes of types $A$ and $B$, respectively. We describe the tangent cones at their $j$-faces and compute explicitly the sum of the conic intrinsic volumes of these tangent cones at all $j$-faces of $K_n^A$ and $K_n^B$. This setting contains sums of external and internal angles of $K_n^A$ and $K_n^B$ as special cases. The sums are evaluated in terms of Stirling numbers of both kinds. We generalize these results to finite products of Schläfli orthoschemes of type $A$ and $B$ and, as a probabilistic consequence, derive formulas for the expected number of $j$-faces of the Minkowski sums of the convex hulls of a finite number of Gaussian random walks and random bridges. Furthermore, we evaluate the analogous angle sums for the tangent cones of Weyl chambers of types $A$ and $B$ and finite products thereof.
Constructive covers of a finite set
Given positive integers $n,k$ with $k\leq n$, we consider the number of ways of choosing $k$ subsets of $\{1,\ldots,n\}$ in such a way that the union of these subsets gives $\{1,\ldots,n\}$ and they are not subsets of each other. We refer to such choices of sets as constructive $k$-covers and provide a semi-analytic summation formula to calculate the exact number of constructive $k$-covers of $\{1,\ldots,n\}$. Each term in the summation is the product of a new variant of Stirling numbers of the second kind, referred to as integrated Stirling numbers, and the cardinality of a certain set which we calculate by an optimization-based procedure with no-good cuts for binary variables.

We define and study a spatial (infinite-dimensional) counterpart of Stirling numbers. In classical combinatorics, the Pochhammer symbol $(m)_n$ can be extended from a natural number $m\in\mathbb N$ to the falling factorials $(z)_n=z(z-1)\dotsm (z-n+1)$ of an argument $z$ from $\mathbb F=\mathbb R\text{ or }\mathbb C$, and Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds are the coefficients of the expansions of $(z)_n$ through $z^k$, $k\leq n$ and vice versa. When taking into account spatial positions of elements in a locally compact Polish space $X$, we replace $\mathbb N$ by the space of configurations -- discrete Radon measures $γ=\sum_iδ_{x_i}$ on $X$, where $δ_{x_i}$ is the Dirac measure with mass at $x_i$.The spatial falling factorials $(γ)_n:=\sum_{i_1}\sum_{i_2\ne i_1}\dotsm\sum_{i_n\ne i_1,\dots, i_n\ne i_{n-1}}δ_{(x_{i_1},x_{i_2},\dots,x_{i_n})}$ can be naturally extended to mappings $M^{(1)}(X)\niω\mapsto (ω)_n\in M^{(n)}(X)$, where $M^{(n)}(X)$ denotes the space of $\mathbb F$-valued, symmetric (for $n\ge2$) Radon measures on $X^n$. There is a natural duality between $M^{(n)}(X)$ and the space $\mathcal {CF}^{(n)}(X)$ of $\mathbb F$-valued, symmetric continuous functions on $X^n$ with compact support. The Stirling operators of the first and second kind, $\mathbf{s}(n,k)$ and $\mathbf{S}(n,k)$, are linear operators, acting between spaces $\mathcal {CF}^{(n)}(X)$ and $\mathcal {CF}^{(k)}(X)$ such that their dual operators, acting from $M^{(k)}(X)$ into $M^{(n)}(X)$, satisfy $(ω)_n=\sum_{k=1}^n\mathbf{s}(n,k)^*ω^{\otimes k}$ and $ω^{\otimes n}=\sum_{k=1}^n\mathbf{S}(n,k)^*(ω)_k$, respectively. We derive combinatorial properties of the Stirling operators, present their connections with a generalization of the Poisson point process and with the Wick ordering under the canonical commutation relations.
A new extension of the Sun-Zagier result involving Bell numbers and derangement numbers
Let $p$ be any prime and let $a$ and $n$ be positive integers with $p\nmid n$. We show that $$\sum_{k=1}^{p^a-1}\frac{B_k}{(-n)^k}\equiv a(-1)^{n-1}D_{n-1}\pmod {p},$$ where $B_0,B_1,\ldots$ are the Bell numbers and $D_0,D_1,\ldots$ are the derangement numbers. This extends a result of Sun and Zagier published in 2011. Furthermore, we prove that $$(-x)^n\sum_{k=1}^{p^a-1}\frac{B_k(x)}{(-n)^k}\equiv -\sum_{r=1}^ax^{p^r}\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}\frac{(n-1)!}{k!}(-x)^k\pmod{p\mathbb Z_p[x]},$$ where $B_k(x)=\sum_{l=0}^kS(k,l)x^l$ is the Bell polynomial of degree $k$ with $S(k,l)\ (0\le l\le k)$ the Stirling numbers of the second kind, and $\mathbb Z_p$ is the ring of all $p$-adic integers.

We give a new, direct proof of the formulas for the conic intrinsic volumes of the Weyl chambers of types $A_{n-1}, B_n$ and $D_n$. These formulas express the conic intrinsic volumes in terms of the Stirling numbers of the first kind and their $B$- and $D$-analogues. The proof involves an explicit determination of the internal and external angles of the faces of the Weyl chambers.

A Second Type Of Higher Order Generalised Geometric Polynomials and Higher Order Generalised Euler Polynomials
In this study we introduce a second type of higher order generalised geometric polynomials. This we achieve by examining the generalised stirling numbers $S(n; k;α;β;γ)$ [Hsu & Shiue,1998] for some negative arguments. We study their number theoretic properties, asymptotic properties, and study their combinatorial properties using the notion of barred preferential arrangements. We also proposed a generalisation of the classical Euler polynomials and show how these Euler polynomials are related to the second type of higher order generalised geometric polynomials.

Let $\mathfrak{S}_n$ be the set of all permutations of $[n]=\{1,\ldots,n\}$ and let $W$ be the subset consisting of permutations $σ\in \mathfrak{S}_n$ avoiding 132 and 312-patterns. The monomial ideal $I_W = \left\langle \mathbf{x}^σ = \prod_{i=1}^n x_i^{σ(i)} : σ\in W \right\rangle $ in the polynomial ring $R = k[x_1,\ldots,x_n]$ over a field $k$ is called a hypercubic ideal in the article (Certain variants of multipermutohedron ideals, Proc. Indian Acad. Sci.(Math Sci. Vol. 126, No.4, (2016), 479-500). The Alexander dual $I_W^{[\mathbf{n}]}$ of $I_W$ with respect to $\mathbf{n}=(n,\ldots,n)$ has the minimal cellular resolution supported on the first barycentric subdivision $\mathbf{Bd}(Δ_{n-1})$ of an $n-1$-simplex $Δ_{n-1}$. We show that the number of standard monomials of the Artinian quotient $\frac{R}{I_W^{[\mathbf{n}]}}$ equals the number of rooted-labelled unimodal forests on the vertex set $[n]$. In other words,
\[ \dim_k\left(\frac{R}{I_W^{[\mathbf{n}]}}\right) =
\sum_{r=1}^n r!~s(n,r) = {\rm Per}\left([m_{ij}]_{n \times n} \right),\] where $s(n,r)$ is the (signless) Stirling number of the first kind and ${\rm Per}([m_{ij}]_{n \times n})$ is the permanent of the matrix $[m_{ij}]$ with $m_{ii}=i$ and $m_{ij}=1$ for $i \ne j$. For various subsets $S$ of $\mathfrak{S}_n$ consisting of permutations avoiding patterns, the corresponding integer sequences $\left\lbrace \dim_k\left(\frac{R}{I_S^{[\mathbf{n}]}}\right) \right\rbrace_{n=1}^{\infty}$ are identified.

Descents on quasi-Stirling permutations

Stirling permutations were introduced by Gessel and Stanley, who used their enumeration by the number of descents to give a combinatorial interpretation of certain polynomials related to Stirling numbers.
Quasi-Stirling permutations, which can be viewed as labeled noncrossing matchings, were introduced by Archer et al. as a natural extension of Stirling permutations. Janson's correspondence between Stirling permutations and labeled increasing plane trees extends to a bijection between quasi-Stirling permutations and the same set of trees without the increasing restriction.
Archer et al. posed the problem of enumerating quasi-Stirling permutations by the number of descents, and conjectured that there are $(n+1)^{n-1}$ such permutations of size $n$ having the maximum number of descents. In this paper we prove their conjecture, and we give the generating function for quasi-Stirling permutations by the number of descents, expressed as a compositional inverse of the generating function of Eulerian polynomials. We also find the analogue for quasi-Stirling permutations of the main result from Gessel and Stanley's paper. We prove that the distribution of descents on these permutations is asymptotically normal, and that the roots of the corresponding quasi-Stirling polynomials are all real, in analogy to Bóna's results for Stirling permutations.
Finally, we generalize our results to a one-parameter family of permutations that extends $k$-Stirling permutations, and we refine them by also keeping track of the number of ascents and the number of plateaus.
