We prove that the category of solutions of the set-theoretic Yang-Baxter equation of Frobenius-Separability (FS) type is equivalent to the category of pointed Kimura semigroups. As applications, all involutive, idempotent, nondegenerate, surjective, finite order, unitary or indecomposable solutions of FS type are classified. For instance, if $|X| = n$, then the number of isomorphism classes of all such solutions on $X$ that are (a) left non-degenerate, (b) bijective, (c) unitary or (d) indecomposable and left-nondegenerate is: (a) the Davis number $d(n)$, (b) $\sum_{m|n} \, p(m)$, where $p(m)$ is the Euler partition number, (c) $τ(n) + \sum_{d|n}\left\lfloor \frac d2\right\rfloor$, where $τ(n)$ is the number of divisors of $n$, or (d) the Harary number $\mathfrak{c} (n)$. The automorphism groups of such solutions can also be recovered as automorphism groups $\mathrm{Aut}(f)$ of sets $X$ equipped with a single endo-function $f:X\to X$. We describe all groups of the form $\mathrm{Aut}(f)$ as iterations of direct and (possibly infinite) wreath products of cyclic or full symmetric groups, characterize the abelian ones as products of cyclic groups, and produce examples of symmetry groups of FS solutions not of the form $\mathrm{Aut}(f)$.
Switch Operators for the Six-Vertex Model
In this paper, we introduce and analyze a new switch operator for the six-vertex model. This operator, derived from the Yang-Baxter equation, allows us to express the partition function with arbitrary boundaries in terms of a base case with domain wall boundary conditions. As an application, we derive explicit formulas for the factorial Schur functions and their generalizations. Our results provide new insights into the relationship between boundary conditions and partition functions in the six-vertex model.

Given an arbitrary choice of two sets of nonzero Boltzmann weights for $n$-color lattice models, we provide explicit algebraic conditions on these Boltzmann weights which guarantee a solution (i.e., a third set of weights) to the Yang-Baxter equation. Furthermore we provide an explicit one-dimensional parametrization of all solutions in this case. These $n$-color lattice models are so named because their admissible vertices have adjacent edges labeled by one of $n$ colors with additional restrictions. The two-colored case specializes to the six-vertex model, in which case our results recover the familiar quadric condition of Baxter for solvability. The general $n$-color case includes important solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation like the evaluation modules for the quantum affine Lie algebra $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{sl}}_n)$. Finally, we demonstrate the invariance of this class of solutions under natural transformations, including those associated with Drinfeld twisting.
Rewriting History in Integrable Stochastic Particle Systems

Many integrable stochastic particle systems in one space dimension (such as TASEP - Totally Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process - and its $q$-deformation, the $q$-TASEP) remain integrable if we equip each particle with its own speed parameter. In this work, we present intertwining relations between Markov transition operators of particle systems which differ by a permutation of the speed parameters. These relations generalize our previous works (arXiv:1907.09155, arXiv:1912.06067), but here we employ a novel approach based on the Yang-Baxter equation for the higher spin stochastic six vertex model. Our intertwiners are Markov transition operators, which leads to interesting probabilistic consequences.
First, we obtain a new Lax-type differential equation for the Markov transition semigroups of homogeneous, continuous-time versions of our particle systems. Our Lax equation encodes the time evolution of multipoint observables of the $q$-TASEP and TASEP in a unified way, which may be of interest for the asymptotic analysis of multipoint observables of these systems.
Second, we show that our intertwining relations lead to couplings between probability measures on trajectories of particle systems which differ by a permutation of the speed parameters. The conditional distribution for such a coupling is realized as a "rewriting history" random walk which randomly resamples the trajectory of a particle in a chamber determined by the trajectories of the neighboring particles. As a byproduct, we construct a new coupling for standard Poisson processes on the positive real half-line with different rates.
Free-fermionic ice, the Yang-Baxter equation and skein relations
In his famous ASM paper, Kuperberg uses a skein relation to give an algebraic proof of a Yang-Baxter equation where the Boltzmann weights satisfy the field-free condition. In this paper, we use Kuperberg's techniques to give proofs of a few Yang-Baxter equations where the Boltzmann weights satisfy the free-fermionic condition. In particular, we use skein relations to prove the Yang-Baxter equation for Gamma-Gamma ice which is a free-fermionic six-vertex model introduced by Brubaker, Bump and Friedberg.
Lattice models, differential forms, and the Yang-Baxter equation
We introduce new methods to describe admissible states of the six-vertex and the eight-vertex lattice models of statistical mechanics. For the six-vertex model, we view the admissible states as differential forms on a grid graph. This yields a new proof of the correspondence between admissible states and 3-colorings of a rectangular grid. For the eight-vertex model, we interpret the set of admissible states as an $\mathbb{F}_2$-vector space. This viewpoint lets us enumerate the set of admissible states. Finally, we find necessary conditions for a Yang-Baxter equation to hold for the general eight-vertex model.

We use Constraint Satisfaction Methods to construct and enumerate finite $L$-algebras up to isomorphism. These objects were recently introduced by Rump and appear in Garside theory, algebraic logic, and the study of the combinatorial Yang-Baxter equation. There are 377322225 isomorphism classes of $L$-algebras of size eight. The database constructed suggest the existence of bijections between certain classes of $L$-algebras and well-known combinatorial objects. On the one hand, we prove that Bell numbers enumerate isomorphism classes of finite linear $L$-algebras. On the other hand, we also prove that finite regular $L$-algebras are in bijective correspondence with infinite-dimensional Young diagrams.
Irreversible Markov Dynamics and Hydrodynamics for KPZ States in the Stochastic Six Vertex Model

We introduce a family of Markov growth processes on discrete height functions defined on the 2-dimensional square lattice. Each height function corresponds to a configuration of the six vertex model on the infinite square lattice. We focus on the stochastic six vertex model corresponding to a particular two-parameter family of weights within the ferroelectric regime. It is believed (and partially proven, see Aggarwal, arXiv:2004.13272) that the stochastic six vertex model displays nontrivial pure (i.e., translation invariant and ergodic) Gibbs states of two types, KPZ and liquid. These phases have very different long-range correlation structure. The Markov processes we construct preserve the KPZ pure states in the full plane. We also show that the same processes put on the torus preserve arbitrary Gibbs measures for generic six vertex weights (not necessarily in the ferroelectric regime).
Our dynamics arise naturally from the Yang-Baxter equation for the six vertex model via its bijectivisation, a technique first used in Bufetov-Petrov (arXiv:1712.04584). The dynamics we construct are irreversible; in particular, the height function has a nonzero average drift. In each KPZ pure state, we explicitly compute the average drift (also known as the current) as a function of the slope. We use this to analyze the hydrodynamics of a non-stationary version of our process acting on quarter plane stochastic six vertex configurations. The fixed-time limit shapes in the quarter plane model were obtained in Borodin-Corwin-Gorin (arXiv:1407.6729).

We describe a Yang-Baxter integrable vertex model, which can be realized as a degeneration of a vertex model introduced by Aggarwal, Borodin, and Wheeler. From this vertex model, we construct a certain class of partition functions that we show are essentially equal to the super ribbon functions of Lam. Using the vertex model formalism, we give proofs of many properties of these polynomials, namely a Cauchy identity and generalizations of known identities for supersymmetric Schur polynomials.

We introduce a solvable lattice model for supersymmetric LLT polynomials, also known as super LLT polynomials, based upon particle interactions in super n-ribbon tableaux. Using operators on a Fock space, we prove a Cauchy identity for super LLT polynomials, simultaneously generalizing the Cauchy and dual Cauchy identities for LLT polynomials. Lastly, we construct a solvable semi-infinite Cauchy lattice model with a surprising Yang-Baxter equation and examine its connections to the Cauchy identity.
Lattice Models, Hamiltonian Operators, and Symmetric Functions
We give general conditions for the existence of a Hamiltonian operator whose discrete time evolution matches the partition function of certain solvable lattice models. In particular, we examine two classes of lattice models: the classical six-vertex model and a generalized family of $(2n+4)$-vertex models for each positive integer $n$. These models depend on a statistic called charge, and are associated to the quantum group $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}(1|n))$. Our results show a close and unexpected connection between Hamiltonian operators and the Yang-Baxter equation.
The six-vertex model can be associated with Hamiltonians from classical Fock space, and we show that such a correspondence exists precisely when the Boltzmann weights are free fermionic. This allows us to prove that the free fermionic partition function is always a (skew) supersymmetric Schur function and then use the Berele-Regev formula to correct a result from of Brubaker, Bump, and Friedberg on the free fermionic domain-wall partition function. In this context, the supersymmetric function involution takes us between two lattice models that generalize the vicious walker and osculating walker models.
Then, we prove a sharp solvability criterion for the six-vertex model with charge that provides the proper analogue of the free fermion condition. Building on results by Brubaker, Buciumas, Bump, and Gustafsson, we show that this criterion exactly dictates when a charged model has a Hamiltonian operator acting on a Drinfeld twist of $q$-Fock space. The resulting partition function is then a (skew) supersymmetric LLT polynomial, and almost all supersymmetric LLT polynomials appear as partition functions of our lattice models. We also prove a Cauchy identity for skew supersymmetric LLT polynomials. (see 2024 author's note below)
Free Fermion Six Vertex Model: Symmetric Functions and Random Domino Tilings

Our work deals with symmetric rational functions and probabilistic models based on the fully inhomogeneous six vertex (ice type) model satisfying the free fermion condition. Two families of symmetric rational functions $F_λ,G_λ$ are defined as certain partition functions of the six vertex model, with variables corresponding to row rapidities, and the labeling signatures $λ=(λ_1\ge \ldots\ge λ_N)\in \mathbb{Z}^N$ encoding boundary conditions. These symmetric functions generalize Schur symmetric polynomials, as well as some of their variations, such as factorial and supersymmetric Schur polynomials. Cauchy type summation identities for $F_λ,G_λ$ and their skew counterparts follow from the Yang-Baxter equation. Using algebraic Bethe Ansatz, we obtain a double alternant type formula for $F_λ$ and a Sergeev-Pragacz type formula for $G_λ$.
In the spirit of the theory of Schur processes, we define probability measures on sequences of signatures with probability weights proportional to products of our symmetric functions. We show that these measures can be viewed as determinantal point processes, and we express their correlation kernels in a double contour integral form. We present two proofs: The first is a direct computation of Eynard-Mehta type, and the second uses non-standard, inhomogeneous versions of fermionic operators in a Fock space coming from the algebraic Bethe Ansatz for the six vertex model.
We also interpret our determinantal processes as random domino tilings of a half-strip with inhomogeneous domino weights. In the bulk, we show that the lattice asymptotic behavior of such domino tilings is described by a new determinantal point process on $\mathbb{Z}^{2}$, which can be viewed as an doubly-inhomogeneous generalization of the extended discrete sine process.

We study indecomposable involutive set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation with cyclic permutation groups (cocyclic solutions). In particular, we show that there is no one-to-one correspondence between indecomposable cocyclic solutions and cocyclic braces which contradicts recent results in \cite{Rump21}.
Stable spin Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions, combinatorial identities, and half-space Yang-Baxter random field
Stable spin Hall-Littlewood symmetric polynomials labeled by partitions were recently introduced by Borodin and Wheeler in the context of higher spin six vertex models, which are one-parameter deformation of the Hall-Littlewood polynomials. We present a new combinatorial definition for the stable spin Hall-Littlewood polynomials, and derive a series of new combinatorial identities, including the skew Littlewood identity, refined Cauchy identity and refined Littlewood identity.
Employing bijectivisation of summation identities, Bufetov and Petrov introduced local stochastic moves based on the Yang-Baxter equation. Combining the skew Littlewood identity and these moves, we introduce the half-space Yang-Baxter random field for stable spin Hall-Littlewood polynomials. We match the lengths of the partitions in this field with a new dynamic version of stochastic six vertex model in the half-quadrant, which can be mapped to a dynamic version of discrete-time interacting particle system on the half-line with an open boundary.

There is a striking similarity between Macdonald's reduced word formula and the image of the Schubert class in the cohomology ring of the permutahedral variety $\mathrm{Perm}_n$ as computed by Klyachko. Toward understanding this better, we undertake an in-depth study of a $q$-deformation of the $\mathbb{S}_n$-invariant part of the rational cohomology ring of $\mathrm{Perm}_n$, which we call the $q$-Klyachko algebra. We uncover intimate links between expansions in the basis of squarefree monomials in this algebra and various notions in algebraic combinatorics, thereby connecting seemingly unrelated results by finding a common ground to study them.
Our main results are as follows. 1) A $q$-analog of divided symmetrization ($q$-DS) using Yang-Baxter elements in the Hecke algebra. It is a linear form that picks up coefficients in the squarefree basis. 2) A relation between $q$-DS and the ideal of quasisymmetric polynomials involving work of Aval--Bergeron--Bergeron. 3) A family of polynomials in $q$ with nonnegative integral coefficients that specialize to Postnikov's mixed Eulerian numbers when $q=1$. We refer to these new polynomials as remixed Eulerian numbers. For $q>0$, their normalized versions occur as probabilities in the internal diffusion limited aggregation (IDLA) stochastic process. 4) A lift of Macdonald's reduced word identity in the $q$-Klyachko algebra. 5) The Schubert expansion of the Chow class of the standard split Deligne--Lusztig variety in type $A$, when $q$ is a prime power.
New structure on the quantum alcove model with applications to representation theory and Schubert calculus

The quantum alcove model associated to a dominant weight plays an important role in many branches of mathematics, such as combinatorial representation theory, the theory of Macdonald polynomials, and Schubert calculus. For a dominant weight, it is proved by Lenart-Lubovsky that the quantum alcove model does not depend on the choice of a reduced alcove path, which is a shortest path of alcoves from the fundamental one to its translation by the given dominant weight. This is established through quantum Yang-Baxter moves, which biject the objects of the model associated with two such alcove paths, and can be viewed as a generalization of jeu de taquin slides to arbitrary root systems. The purpose of this paper is to give a generalization of quantum Yang-Baxter moves to the quantum alcove model corresponding to an arbitrary weight, which was used to express a general Chevalley formula in the equivariant $K$-group of semi-infinite flag manifolds. The generalized quantum Yang-Baxter moves give rise to a "sijection" (bijection between signed sets), and are shown to preserve certain important statistics, including weights and heights. As an application, we prove that the generating function of these statistics does not depend on the choice of a reduced alcove path. Also, we obtain an identity for the graded characters of Demazure submodules of level-zero extremal weight modules over a quantum affine algebra, which can be thought of as a representation-theoretic analogue of the mentioned Chevalley formula. Other applications and some open problems involving "signed crystals" are discussed.

Fully inhomogeneous spin Hall-Littlewood symmetric rational functions $F_λ$ are multiparameter deformations of the classical Hall-Littlewood symmetric polynomials and can be viewed as partition functions in $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$ higher spin six vertex models. We obtain a refined Littlewood identity expressing a weighted sum of $F_λ$'s over all partitions $λ$ with even multiplicities as a certain Pfaffian. This Pfaffian can be derived as a partition function of the six vertex model in a triangle with suitably decorated domain wall boundary conditions. The proof is based on the Yang-Baxter equation.
Inhomogeneous spin $q$-Whittaker polynomials
We introduce and study an inhomogeneous generalization of the spin $q$-Whittaker polynomials from [Borodin,Wheeler-17]. These are symmetric polynomials, and we prove a branching rule, skew dual and non-dual Cauchy identities, and an integral representation for them. Our main tool is a novel family of deformed Yang-Baxter equations.

In a preceding paper the theory of nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials taking values in modules of the Hecke algebra of type $A$ (Dunkl and Luque SLC 2012) was applied to such modules consisting of polynomials in anti-commuting variables, to define nonsymmetric Macdonald superpolynomials. These polynomials depend on two parameters $\left( q,t\right) $ and are defined by means of a Yang-Baxter graph. The present paper determines the values of a subclass of the polynomials at the special points $\left( 1,t,t^{2},\ldots\right) $ or$\left( 1,t^{-1},t^{-2},\ldots\right) $. The arguments use induction on the degree and computations with products of generators of the Hecke algebra. The resulting formulas involve $\left( q,t\right)$-hook products. Evaluations are also found for Macdonald superpolynomials having restricted symmetry and antisymmetry properties.
Stochastic symplectic ice

In this paper, we construct solvable ice models (six-vertex models) with stochastic weights and U-turn right boundary, which we term ``stochastic symplectic ice''. The models consist of alternating rows of two types of vertices. The probabilistic interpretation of the models leads to novel interacting particle systems where particles alternately jump to the right and then to the left. Two colored versions of the models and related stochastic dynamics are also introduced. Using the Yang-Baxter equations, we establish functional equations and recursive relations for the partition functions of these models. In particular, the recursive relations satisfied by the partition function of one of the colored models are closely related to Demazure-Lusztig operators of type C.
