We prove that a curious generating series identity implies Faber's intersection number conjecture (by showing that it implies a combinatorial identity already given in arXiv:1902.02742) and give a new proof of Faber's conjecture by directly proving this identity.
Enumerating Labeled Graphs that Realize a Fixed Degree Sequence
A finite non-increasing sequence of positive integers $d = (d_1\geq \cdots\geq d_n)$ is called a degree sequence if there is a graph $G = (V,E)$ with $V = \{v_1,\ldots,v_n\}$ and $deg(v_i)=d_i$ for $i=1,\ldots,n$. In that case we say that the graph $G$ realizes the degree sequence $d$. We show that the exact number of labeled graphs that realize a fixed degree sequence satisfies a simple recurrence relation. Using this relation, we then obtain a recursive algorithm for the exact count. We also show that in the case of regular graphs the complexity of our algorithm is better than the complexity of the same enumeration that uses generating functions.

We study outer Lipschitz geometry of real semialgebraic or, more general, definable in a polynomially bounded o-minimal structure over the reals, surface germs. In particular, any definable Hölder triangle is either Lipschitz normally embedded or contains some "abnormal" arcs. We show that abnormal arcs constitute finitely many "abnormal zones" in the space of all arcs, and investigate geometric and combinatorial properties of abnormal surface germs. We establish a strong relation between geometry and combinatorics of abnormal Hölder triangles.

When $k$ factors each taking one of $v$ levels may affect the correctness or performance of a complex system, a test is selected by setting each factor to one of its levels and determining whether the system functions as expected (passes the test) or not (fails). In our setting, each test failure can be attributed to at least one faulty (factor, level) pair. A nonadaptive test suite is a selection of such tests to be executed in parallel. One goal is to minimize the number of tests in a test suite from which we can determine which (factor, level) pairs are faulty, if any. In this paper, we determine the number of tests needed to locate faults when exactly one (or at most one) pair is faulty. To do this, we address an equivalent problem, to determine how many set partitions of a set of size $N$ exist in which each partition contains $v$ classes and no two classes in the partitions are equal.

An expander code is a binary linear code whose parity-check matrix is the bi-adjacency matrix of a bipartite expander graph. We provide a new formula for the minimum distance of such codes. We also provide a new proof of the result that $2(1-\varepsilon) γn$ is a lower bound of the minimum distance of the expander code given by a $(m,n,d,γ,1-\varepsilon)$ expander bipartite graph.

The nth r-extended Lah-Bell number is defined as the number of ways a set with $n+r$ elements can be partitioned into ordered blocks such that r distinguished elements have to be in distinct ordered blocks. The aim of this paper is to introduce incomplete r-extended Lah-Bell polynomials and complete $r$-extended Lah-Bell polynomials respectively as multivariate versions of $r$-Lah numbers and the r-extended Lah-Bell numbers and to investigate some properties and identities for these polynomials. From these investigations, we obtain some expressions for the r-Lah numbers and the r-extended Lah-Bell numbers as finite sums.
Validity of Borodin and Kostochka Conjecture for classes of graphs without a single, forbidden subgraph on 5 vertices
Problem of finding an optimal upper bound for the chromatic no. of a graph is still open and very hard. Borodin and Kostochka Conjecture is still open and if proved will improve Brook bound on Chromatic no. of a graph. Here we prove Borodin & Kostochka Conjecture for (1) (P4 Union K1)-free (2) P5-free (3) Chair-free graphs and 4) graphs with dense neighbourhoods. Certain known results follow as Corollaries.
Partition identities associated to Rogers-Ramanujan type identities
We show that, in many cases, there are infinitely many sets of partitions corresponding to a single analytical Rogers-Ramanujan type identity. This means that a single analytical Rogers-Ramanujan type identity implies the existence of bijections among infinitely many sets of partitions. We also give an explicit description of these infinite sets coming from the sum side of the analytical identity explaining how to interpret the sum side combinatorially as the generating function of the partitions considered. Moreover, we give a new infinite familiy of Rogers-Ramanujan type identities obtained by the Glaisher's identities.
Signed graphs with maximal index

The index of a signed graph is the largest eigenvalue of its adjacency matrix. For positive integers $n$ and $m\le n^2/4$, we determine the maximal index of complete signed graphs with $n$ vertices and $m$ negative edges. This settles (the corrected version of) a conjecture by Koledin and Stanić (2017).
A crank-based approach to the theory of 3-core partitions

This note is concerned with the set of integral solutions of the equation $x^2+3y^2=12n+4$, where $n$ is a positive integer. We will describe a parametrization of this set using the 3-core partitions of n. In particular we construct a crank using the action of a suitable subgroup of the isometric group of the plane that we connect with the unit group of the ring of Eisenstein integers. We also show that the process goes in the reverse direction: from the solutions of the equation and the crank, we can describe the 3-core partitions of n. As a consequence we describe an explicit bijection between $3$-core partitions and ideals of the ring of Eisenstein integers, explaining a result of G. Han and K. Ono obtained using modular forms.
Characterization and Newton Complementary Dual of Quasi $f$-Ideals
The notion of quasi $f$-ideals was first presented in $[14]$ which generalize the idea of $f$-ideals. In this paper, we give the complete characterization of quasi $f$-ideals of degree greater or equal to $2$. Additionally, we show that the property of being quasi $f$-ideals remains the same after taking the Newton complementary dual of a squarefree monomial ideal $I$ provided that the minimal generating set of $I$ is perfect.
Partizan Subtraction Games
Partizan subtraction games are combinatorial games where two players, say Left and Right, alternately remove a number n of tokens from a heap of tokens, with $n \in S_L$ (resp. $n \in S_R$) when it is Left's (resp. Right's) turn. The first player unable to move loses. These games were introduced by Fraenkel and Kotzig in 1987, where they introduced the notion of dominance, i.e. an asymptotic behavior of the outcome sequence where Left always wins if the heap is sufficiently large. In the current paper, we investigate the other kinds of behaviors for the outcome sequence. In addition to dominance, three other disjoint behaviors are defined, namely weak dominance, fairness and ultimate impartiality. We consider the problem of computing this behavior with respect to $S_L$ and $S_R$, which is connected to the well-known Frobenius coin problem. General results are given, together with arithmetic and geometric characterizations when the sets $S_L$ and $S_R$ have size at most 2.
Colored Fermionic Vertex Models and Symmetric Functions

In this text we introduce and analyze families of symmetric functions arising as partition functions for colored fermionic vertex models associated with the quantized affine Lie superalgebra $U_q \big( \widehat{\mathfrak{sl}} (1 | n) \big)$. We establish various combinatorial results for these vertex models and symmetric functions, which include the following.
(1) We apply the fusion procedure to the fundamental $R$-matrix for $U_q \big( \widehat{\mathfrak{sl}} (1 | n) \big)$ to obtain an explicit family of vertex weights satisfying the Yang-Baxter equation.
(2) We define families of symmetric functions as partition functions for colored, fermionic vertex models under these fused weights. We further establish several combinatorial properties for these symmetric functions, such as branching rules and Cauchy identities.
(3) We show that the Lascoux-Leclerc-Thibon (LLT) polynomials arise as special cases of these symmetric functions. This enables us to show both old and new properties about the LLT polynomials, including Cauchy identities, contour integral formulas, stability properties, and branching rules under a certain family of plethystic transformations.
(4) A different special case of our symmetric functions gives rise to a new family of polynomials called factorial LLT polynomials. We show they generalize the LLT polynomials, while also satisfying a vanishing condition reminiscent of that satisfied by the factorial Schur functions.
(5) By considering our vertex model on a cylinder, we obtain fermionic partition function formulas for both the symmetric and nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials.
(6) We prove combinatorial formulas for the coefficients of the LLT polynomials when expanded in the modified Hall-Littlewood basis, as partition functions for a $U_q \big( \widehat{\mathfrak{sl}} (2 | n) \big)$ vertex model.
Some remarks on the square graph of the hypercube

Let $Γ=(V,E)$ be a graph. The square graph $Γ^2$ of the graph $Γ$ is the graph with the vertex set $V(Γ^2)=V$ in which two vertices are adjacent if and only if their distance in $Γ$ is at most two. The square graph of the hypercube $Q_n$ has some interesting properties. For instance, it is highly symmetric and panconnected.
In this paper, we investigate some algebraic properties of the graph ${Q^2_n}$. In particular, we show that the graph ${Q^2_n}$ is distance-transitive. We show that the graph ${Q^2_n}$ is an imprimitive distance-transitive graph if and only if $n$ is an odd integer. Also, we determine the spectrum of the graph $Q_n^2$. Finally, we show that when $n >2$ is an even integer, then ${Q^2_n}$ is an automorphic graph, that is, $Q_n^2$ is a distance-transitive primitive graph which is not a complete or a line graph.
Partisan Combinatorial Game of Edge and Vertex Removal on Graphs
We consider three variants of a partisan combinatorial game between two players, Left and Right, played on an undirected simple graph. Left is able to delete vertices (and incident edges) while Right is able to delete edges. This natural extension of a similar impartial game gives a clear advantage to one player by allowing them the ability to play on a small subgraph which the other player can not. Our last variant removes this advantage by assuming a move is valid for one player if and only if the other player has a valid move on the same graph. In this case, we show that the ability to remove a vertex is more advantageous compared to removing edges.
A categorification for the signed chromatic polynomial

By coloring a signed graph by signed colors, one obtains the signed chromatic polynomial of the signed graph. For each signed graph we construct graded cohomology groups whose graded Euler characteristic yields the signed chromatic polynomial of the signed graph. We show that the cohomology groups satisfy a long exact sequence which corresponds to signed deletion-contraction rule. This work is motivated by Helme-Guizon and Rong's construction of the categorification for the chromatic polynomial of unsigned graphs.
A preliminary result for generalized intersecting families
Intersecting families and blocking sets feature prominently in extremal combinatorics. We examine the following generalization of an intersecting family investigated by Hajnal, Rothschild, and others. If $s \geq 1$, $k \geq 2$, and $u \geq 1$ are integers, then say that an $s$-uniform family $\mathcal{F}$ is $(k,u)$-intersecting if for all $A_1, A_2, \cdots, A_k \in \mathcal{F}$, $|A_i \cap A_j| \geq u$ for some $1 \leq i < j \leq k$. In this note, we investigate the following parameter. If $s$, $k$, $u$, $\ell$ are integers satisfying $s \geq 1$, $k \geq 2$, $1 \leq u \leq s$, and $2 \leq \ell < k$, then let $N^{(u)}_{k,\ell}(s)$ denote the smallest integer $r$, if it exists, such that any $(k,u)$-intersecting $s$-uniform family is the union of at most $r$ families that are $(\ell,u)$-intersecting. Using a Sunflower Lemma type argument, we prove that $N^{(u)}_{k,\ell}(s)$ always exists and that the following inequality always holds: $$N^{(u)}_{k,\ell}(s) \; \leq \; \bigg{\lceil} \dfrac{ k - 1 }{\ell - 1} \cdot {s \choose u} \bigg{\rceil}$$
Cycles of arbitrary length in distance graphs on $\mathbb{F}_q^d$

For $E \subset {\Bbb F}_q^d$, $d \ge 2$, where ${\Bbb F}_q$ is the finite field with $q$ elements, we consider the distance graph ${\mathcal G}^{dist}_t(E)$, $t \not=0$, where the vertices are the elements of $E$, and two vertices $x$, $y$ are connected by an edge if $||x-y|| \equiv {(x_1-y_1)}^2+\dots+{(x_d-y_d)}^2=t$. We prove that if $|E| \ge C_k q^{\frac{d+2}{2}}$, then ${\mathcal G}^{dist}_t(E)$ contains a statistically correct number of cycles of length $k$. We are also going to consider the dot-product graph ${\mathcal G}^{prod}_t(E)$, $t \not=0$, where the vertices are the elements of $E$, and two vertices $x$, $y$ are connected by an edge if $x \cdot y \equiv x_1y_1+\dots+x_dy_d=t$. We obtain similar results in this case using more sophisticated methods necessitated by the fact that the function $x \cdot y$ is not translation invariant. The exponent $\frac{d+2}{2}$ is improved for sufficiently long cycles.
Transversal achievement game on a square grid
