Sharp stability of the Brunn-Minkowski inequality via optimal mass transportation
The Brunn-Minkowski inequality, applicable to bounded measurable sets $A$ and $B$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$, states that $|A+B|^{1/d} \geq |A|^{1/d}+|B|^{1/d}$. Equality is achieved if and only if $A$ and $B$ are convex and homothetic sets in $\mathbb{R}^d$. The concept of stability in this context concerns how, when approaching equality, sets $A$ and $B$ are close to homothetic convex sets. In a recent breakthrough [FvHT23], the authors of this paper proved the following folklore conjectures on the sharp stability for the Brunn-Minkowski inequality:
(1) A linear stability result concerning the distance from $A$ and $B$ to their respective convex hulls.
(2) A quadratic stability result concerning the distance from $A$ and $B$ to their common convex hull.
As announced in [FvHT23], in the present paper, we leverage (1) in conjunction with a novel optimal transportation approach to offer an alternative proof for (2).

Introduced in 2012, by Zhang, Zhao, and Nijhoff, the trilinear Boussinesq equation is the natural form of the equation for the $τ$-function of the lattice Boussinesq system. In this paper we study various aspects of this equation: its highly nontrivial derivation from the bilinear lattice AKP equation under dimensional reduction, a quadrilinear dual lattice equation, conservation laws, and periodic reductions leading to higher-dimensional integrable maps and their Laurent property. Furthermore, we consider a higher Gel'fand-Dikii lattice system, its periodic reductions and Laurent property. As a special application, from both a trilinear Boussinesq recurrence as well as a higher Gel'fand-Dikii system of three bilinear recurrences, we establish Somos-like integer sequences.

For arbitrary Coxeter systems, we prove that inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials satisfy a monotonicity property. This follows from the validity of Soergel's conjecture and the existence of injective morphisms between Rouquier complexes in the mixed perverse Hecke category. The monotonicity property is generalised to parabolic Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials.

In this article, we study infinite friezes arising from cluster categories of affine type $D$ and determine the growth coefficients for these friezes. We prove that for each affine type $D$, the friezes given by the tubes all have the same growth behavior.
Projective Rectangles: The Graph of Lines
A projective rectangle is like a projective plane that may have different lengths in two directions. We develop properties of the graph of lines, in which adjacency means having a common point, especially its strong regularity and clique structure. The main construction of projective rectangles, stated in a previous paper, gives rectangles whose graph of lines is a known strongly regular bilinear forms graph. That fact leads to a proof that the main construction does produce projective rectangles, and also gives a new representation of bilinear forms graphs. We conclude by mentioning a few simple graph properties, such as the chromatic number, which is not known, and a partial geometry obtained from the graph.
Minimal simplicial degree $d$ self-maps of $\mathbb{S}^{n-1}\times \mathbb{S}^1$
The degree of a map between orientable manifolds is a fundamental concept in topology that aids in understanding the structure and properties of the manifolds and the maps between them. Numerous studies have been conducted on the degree of maps between orientable topological spaces. For each $d \in \mathbb{Z}$, we construct a degree $ d$ simplicial map from a $(2(n+1) \max\{|d|,1\})$-facet colored triangulation of $\mathbb{S}^{n-1} \times \mathbb{S}^1$ to the standard $ 2(n+1) $-facet colored triangulation of $ \mathbb{S}^{n-1} \times \mathbb{S}^1 $. We demonstrate that these are the minimal possible colored triangulations for a degree $d $ simplicial self-map of $\mathbb{S}^{n-1} \times \mathbb{S}^1 $, where $n \geq 2 $. Additionally, we construct a minimal degree $d $ simplicial map from a closed orientable $ n$-manifold to $ \mathbb{S}^n $, where $n \geq 1 $.

A function is boundedly finite-to-one if there is a natural number $k$ such that each point has at most $k$ inverse images. In this paper, we prove in $\mathsf{ZF}$ (i.e., the Zermelo--Fraenkel set theory without the axiom of choice) several results concerning this notion, among which are the following:
(1) For each infinite set $A$ and natural number $n$, there is no boundedly finite-to-one function from $\mathcal{S}(A)$ to $\mathcal{S}_{\leq n}(A)$, where $\mathcal{S}(A)$ is the set of all permutations of $A$ and $\mathcal{S}_{\leq n}(A)$ is the set of all permutations of $A$ moving at most $n$ points.
(2) For each infinite set $A$, there is no boundedly finite-to-one function from $\mathcal{B}(A)$ to $\mathrm{fin}(A)$, where $\mathcal{B}(A)$ is the set of all partitions of $A$ such that every block is finite and $\mathrm{fin}(A)$ is the set of all finite subsets of $A$.

Ising annealer is a promising quantum-inspired computing architecture for combinatorial optimization problems. In this paper, we introduce an Ising annealer based on the Hamiltonian Monte Carlo, which updates the variables of all dimensions in parallel. The main innovation is the fusion of an approximate gradient-based approach into the Ising annealer which introduces significant acceleration and allows a portable and scalable implementation on the commercial FPGA. Comprehensive simulation and hardware experiments show that the proposed Ising annealer has promising performance and scalability on all types of benchmark problems when compared to other Ising annealers including the state-of-the-art hardware. In particular, we have built a prototype annealer which solves Ising problems of both integer and fraction coefficients with up to 200 spins on a single low-cost FPGA board, whose performance is demonstrated to be better than the state-of-the-art quantum hardware D-Wave 2000Q and similar to the expensive coherent Ising machine. The sub-linear scalability of the annealer signifies its potential in solving challenging combinatorial optimization problems and evaluating the advantage of quantum hardware.

The distance of a vertex in a graph is the sum of distances from that vertex to all other vertices of the graph. The Wiener index of a graph is the sum of distances between all its unordered pairs of vertices. A graph has been obtained that contains a vertex achieving the maximum distance among all graphs on $n$ vertices with fixed number of cut vertices. Further the graphs having maximum Wiener index among all graphs on $n$ vertices with at most $3$ cut vertices have been characterised.
On the illumination of 1-symmetric convex bodies
In ["Illumination of convex bodies with many symmetries", Mathematika 63 (2017)], Tikhomirov verified the Hadwiger-Boltyanski Illumination Conjecture for the class of 1-symmetric convex bodies of sufficiently large dimension. We propose an alternative approach which allows us to settle the conjecture for this class in all dimensions in a uniform way. We also demonstrate that an alternative approach was indeed needed for the low dimensions. Finally, with this alternative method it is possible to solely use illuminating sets which consist of pairs of opposite directions; we thus also answer a question by Lassak, who has suggested this may be possible for any origin-symmetric convex body. As a consequence of this, we can also confirm the X-ray conjecture by Bezdek and Zamfirescu for all 1-symmetric convex bodies.

Information dissemination and confusion in signed networks

We introduce a model of information dissemination in signed networks. It is a discrete-time process in which uninformed actors incrementally receive information from their informed neighbors or from the outside. Our goal is to minimize the number of confused actors - that is, the number of actors who receive contradictory information. We prove upper bounds for the number of confused actors in signed networks and in equivalence classes of signed networks. In particular, we show that there are signed networks where, for any information placement strategy, almost 60\% of the actors are confused. Furthermore, this is also the case when considering the minimum number of confused actors within an equivalence class of signed graphs.

This is a chapter in a forthcoming book on completely regular codes in distance regular graphs. The chapter provides an overview, and some original results, on codes in distance regular graphs which admit symmetries via a permutation group acting on the vertices of the graph. The strongest notion of completely transitive codes is developed, as well as the more general notion of neighbour-transitive codes. The graphs considered are the Hamming, Johnson, and Kneser graphs and their q-analogues, as well as some graphs related to incidence structures.
Central Limit Theorem on the Conjugacy Measure of Symmetric Groups
Regarding the conjugacy representation on symmetric groups, we initiate a normalized measure emerging from this representation, namely the conjugacy measure. A central limit theorem for character ratios of random representations of the symmetric group on the conjugacy measure is obtained.

We study new identities related to the sums of adjacent terms in the Pell sequence, defined by $P_{n} := 2P_{n-1}+P_{n-2}$ for $ n\geq 2$ and $P_{0}=0, P_{1}=1$, and generalize these identities for many similar sequences. We prove that the sum of $N>1$ consecutive Pell numbers is a fixed integer multiple of another Pell number if and only if $4\mid N$. We consider the generalized Pell $(k,i)$-numbers defined by $p(n) :=\ 2p(n-1)+p(n-k-1) $ for $n\geq k+1$, with $p(0)=p(1)=\cdots =p(i)=0$ and $p(i+1)=\cdots = p(k)=1$ for $0\leq i\leq k-1$, and prove that the sum of $N=2k+2$ consecutive terms is a fixed integer multiple of another term in the sequence. We also prove that for the generalized Pell $(k,k-1)$-numbers such a relation does not exist when $N$ and $k$ are odd. We give analogous results for the Fibonacci and other related second-order recursive sequences.
FIID homomorphisms and entropy inequalities
We investigate the existence of FIID homomorphisms from regular trees to finite graphs. Using entropy inequalities we show that there are graphs with arbitrarily large chromatic number to which there is no FIID homomorphism from a 3-regular tree.
A note on kernel-perfect orientations and DP-colorings from derangement assignments
We prove a generalization of the well-known Bondy-Bopanna-Siegel Lemma to DP-colorings from a class of correspondence assignments which we call derangement assignments. Since DP-colorings from derangement assignments generalize zero-free list colorings of signed graphs, this yields an orientation theorem for zero-free signed list colorings, as well.
Counting pairs of cycles whose product is a permutation with restricted cycle lengths
We find exact and asymptotic formulas for the number of pairs $(p,q)$ of $N$-cycles such that the all cycles of the product $p\cdot q$ have lengths from a given integer set. We then apply these results to prove a surprisingly high lower bound for the number of permutations whose block transposition distance from the identity is at least $(n+1)/2$.

We prove that the tree independence number of every even-hole-free graph is at most polylogarithmic in its number of vertices. More explicitly, we prove that there exists a constant c>0 such that for every integer n>1 every n-vertex even-hole-free graph has a tree decomposition where each bag has stability (independence) number at most c log^10 n. This implies that the Maximum Weight Independent Set problem, as well as several other natural algorithmic problems that are known to be NP-hard in general, can be solved in quasi-polynomial time if the input graph is even-hole-free.
The Most Malicious Maître D'
The problem of the malicious maître d' is introduced and solved by Peter Winkler in his book Mathematical Puzzles: A Connoisseur's Collection [1]. This problem is about a maître d' seating diners around a table, trying to maximize the number of diners who don't get napkins. Along with this problem, Winkler introduces a variation called the adaptive maître d' and presents a strategy. This problem was later investigated and a better strategy was discovered by Acton et al. [2]. We describe an even better strategy which we call ``long trap setting" and prove that it is optimal. We also derive a formula for the expected number of napkinless diners under our optimal strategy.
