Key expansion of the flagged refined skew stable Grothendieck polynomial
The flagged refined stable Grothendieck polynomials of skew shapes generalize several polynomials like stable Grothendieck polynomials, flagged skew Schur polynomials. In this paper, we provide a combinatorial expansion of the flagged refined skew stable Grothendieck polynomial in terms of key polynomials. We present this expansion by imposing a Demazure crystal structure on the set of flagged semi-standard set-valued tableaux of a given skew shape and a flag. We also provide expansions of the row-refined stable Grothendieck polynomials and refined dual stable Grothendieck polynomials and the Schur P-functions in terms of stable Grothendieck polynomials $G_λ$ and in terms of dual stable Grothendieck polynomials $g_λ$.
Macdonald polynomials at t = 0 through twisted multiline queues
Multiline queues are versatile combinatorial objects that play a key role in understanding the remarkable connection between the asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) on a circle and Macdonald polynomials. Specializing the results of Corteel--Mandelshtam--Williams (2018) to the $t=0$ case yields a formula for the $q$-Whittaker polynomials through the Ferrari--Martin (2007) algorithm with a major index ($\texttt{maj}$) statistic. In this paper, we reinterpret the $\texttt{maj}$ statistic as a $\texttt{charge}$ statistic on reading words, thereby bypassing the Ferrari--Martin algorithm to obtain an elegant formula for the $q$-Whittaker polynomials. Our methods naturally extend to the case of bosonic multiline queues, with which we obtain analogous results for the modified Hall--Littlewood polynomials using a $\texttt{cocharge}$ statistic on reading words.
Twisted multiline queues (GMLQs) are obtained from the action of the symmetric group on the rows of a multiline queue. The Ferrari--Martin algorithm was extended to GMLQs by Arita--Ayyer--Mallick--Prolhac (2011), and Aas--Grinberg--Scrimshaw (2020) showed it is preserved under this action. We extend these results by defining a $\texttt{maj}$ statistic on GMLQs that is also preserved under this action. This yields a novel family of formulas, indexed by compositions, for the $q$-Whittaker polynomials. Additionally, we define a procedure on both GMLQs and bosonic multiline queues that we call collapsing, which can can be realized via the Kashiwara (crystal) operators on type-A Kirillov--Reshetikhin crystals. As an application, we naturally recover the Lascoux--Schützenberger $\texttt{charge}$ formula for the $q$-Whittaker and modified Hall--Littlewood polynomials, and the classical and dual Cauchy identities for Schur functions.
A new Young wall realization of $B(λ)$ and $B(\infty)$
Using new combinatorics of Young walls, we give a new construction of the arbitrary level highest weight crystal $B(λ)$ for the quantum affine algebras of types $A^{(2)}_{2n}$, $D^{(2)}_{n+1}$, $A^{(2)}_{2n-1}$, $D^{(1)}_n$, $B^{(1)}_n$ and $C^{(1)}_n$. We show that the crystal consisting of reduced Young walls is isomorphic to the crystal $B(λ)$. Moreover, we provide a new realization of the crystal $B(\infty)$ in terms of reduced virtual Young walls and reduced extended Young walls.

Schubert polynomials represent a basis for the cohomology of the complete flag variety and thus play a central role in geometry and combinatorics. In this context, Schubert polynomials are generating functions over various combinatorial objects, such as rc-graphs or reduced pipe dreams. By restricting Bergeron and Billey's chute moves on rc-graphs, we define a Demazure crystal structure on the monomials of a Schubert polynomial. As a consequence, we provide a method for decomposing Schubert polynomials as sums of key polynomials, complementing related work of Assaf and Schilling via reduced factorizations with cutoff, as well as Lenart's coplactic operators on biwords.

In this paper, we recall Lepowsky's and Wakimoto's product character formulas formulated in a new way by using arrays of specialized weighted crystals of negative roots for affine Lie algebras of type $C_l^{(1)}$, $D_{l+1}^{(2)}$ and $A_{2l}^{(2)}$. Lepowsky-Wakimoto's infinite periodic products appear as one side of (conjectured) Rogers-Ramanujan-type combinatorial identities for affine Lie algebras of type $C_l^{(1)}$.
Polyhedral realizations for crystal bases and Young walls of classical affine types
For affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ of type $A^{(1)}_{n-1}$, $B^{(1)}_{n-1}$, $C^{(1)}_{n-1}$, $D^{(1)}_{n-1}$, $A^{(2)}_{2n-2}$, $A^{(2)}_{2n-3}$ or $D^{(2)}_{n}$, let $B(λ)$ and $B(\infty)$ be the crystal bases of integrable highest weight representation $V(λ)$ and negative part $U_q^-(\mathfrak{g})$ of quantum group $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$. We consider the polyhedral realizations of crystal bases, which realize $B(λ)$ and $B(\infty)$ as sets of integer points of some polytopes and cones in $\mathbb{R}^{\infty}$. It is a natural problem to find explicit forms of the polytopes and cones. In this paper, we introduce pairs of truncated walls, which are defined as modifications of level $2$-Young walls and describe inequalities defining the polytopes and cones in terms of level $1$-proper Young walls and pairs of truncated walls. As an application, we also give combinatorial descriptions of $\varepsilon_k^*$-functions on $B(\infty)$ in terms of Young walls and truncated walls.
Temperley-Lieb Crystals
Elements of Lusztig's dual canonical bases are Schur-positive when evaluated on (generalized) Jacobi-Trudi matrices. This deep property was proved by Rhoades and Skandera, relying on a result of Haiman, and ultimately on the (proof of) Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture. For a particularly tractable part of the dual canonical basis - called Temperley-Lieb immanants - we give a generalization of Littlewood-Richardson rule: we provide a combinatorial interpretation for the coefficient of a particular Schur function in the evaluation of a particular Temperley-Lieb immanant on a particular Jacobi-Trudi matrix. For this we introduce shuffle tableaux, and apply Stembridge's axioms to show that certain graphs on shuffle tableaux are type $A$ Kashiwara crystals.
Young wall models for the level 1 highest weight and Fock space crystals of $U_q(E_6^{(2)})$ and $U_q(F_4^{(1)})$
In this paper we construct Young wall models for the level $1$ highest weight and Fock space crystals of quantum affine algebras in types $E_6^{(2)}$ and $F_4^{(1)}$. Our starting point in each case is a combinatorial realization for a certain level $1$ perfect crystal in terms of Young columns. Then using energy functions and affine energy functions we define the notions of reduced and proper Young walls, which model the highest weight and Fock space crystals respectively.

We study the counting problem of BPS D-branes wrapping holomorphic cycles of a general toric Calabi-Yau manifold. We evaluate the Jeffrey-Kirwan residues for the flavoured Witten index for the supersymmetric quiver quantum mechanics on the worldvolume of the D-branes, and find that BPS degeneracies are described by a statistical mechanical model of crystal melting. For Calabi-Yau threefolds, we reproduce the crystal melting models long known in the literature. For Calabi-Yau fourfolds, however, we find that the crystal does not contain the full information for the BPS degeneracy and we need to explicitly evaluate non-trivial weights assigned to the crystal configurations. Our discussions treat Calabi-Yau threefolds and fourfolds on equal footing, and include discussions on elliptic and rational generalizations of the BPS states counting, connections to the mathematical definition of generalized Donaldson-Thomas invariants, examples of wall crossings, and of trialities in quiver gauge theories.
Chordal graphs, even-hole-free graphs and sparse obstructions to bounded treewidth

We present and study the following conjecture: for an integer $t\geq 4$ and a graph $H$, every even-hole-free graph of large enough treewidth has an induced subgraph isomorphic to either $K_t$ or $H$, if (and only if) $H$ is a $K_4$-free chordal graph. The ``only if'' part follows from the properties of the so-called layered wheels due to Sintiari and Trotignon.
Alecu, Chudnovsky, Spirkl and the author recently proved the conjecture in two special cases: (a) when $t=4$; and (b) when $H=cone (F)$ for some forest $F$; that is, $H$ is obtained from $F$ by adding a universal vertex. Our first result is a common strengthening: for an integer $t\geq 4$ and graphs $F$ and $H$, (even-hole, $cone(cone (F))$, $H$, $K_t$)-free graphs have bounded treewidth if and only if $F$ is a forest and $H$ is a $K_4$-free chordal graph.
Also, for general $t\geq 4$, we push the current state of the art further than (b) by settling the conjecture for the smallest choices of $H$ that are not coned forests. This follows from our second result: we prove the conjecture when $H$ is a crystal; that is, a graph obtained from several coned double stars by gluing them together along the middle edges of the double stars.
In the first version of this paper, we suggested a strengthening of our main conjecture, that for every $t\geq 1$, every graph of sufficiently large treewidth has an induced subgraph of treewidth $t$ which is either complete, complete bipartite, or $2$-degenerate. This strengthening has now been refuted by Chudnovsky and Trotignon [On treewidth and maximum cliques, arXiv:2405.07471, 2024].
Crystals for set-valued decomposition tableaux

We describe two crystal structures on set-valued decomposition tableaux. These provide the first examples of interesting "$K$-theoretic" crystals on shifted tableaux. Our first crystal is modeled on a similar construction of Monical, Pechenik, and Scrimshaw for semistandard (unshifted) set-valued tableaux. Our second crystal is adapted from the "square root" operators introduced by Yu on the same set. Neither of our shifted crystals is normal, but we conjecture that our second construction is connected with a unique highest weight element. These results lead to partial progress on a conjectural formula of Cho--Ikeda for $K$-theoretic Schur $P$-functions. We also study a new category of "square root crystals" that includes our second construction and Yu's set-valued tableau crystals as examples. We observe that Buch's formula for the coefficients expanding products of symmetric Grothendieck functions has a simple description in terms of the tensor product for this category.
Primed decomposition tableaux and extended queer crystals

Our previous work introduced a category of extended queer crystals, whose connected normal objects have unique highest weight elements and characters that are Schur $Q$-polynomials. The initial models for such crystals were based on semistandard shifted tableaux. Here, we introduce a simpler construction using certain "primed" decomposition tableaux, which slightly generalize the decomposition tableaux used in work of Grantcharov et al. This leads to a new, shorter proof of the highest weight properties of the normal subcategory of extended queer crystals. Along the way, we analyze a primed extension of Grantcharov et al.'s insertion scheme for decomposition tableaux.
Graded Multiplicities in the Kostant-Rallis Setting
This paper contains two main results. First, we provide combinatorial branching rules for $\text{GL}_n \downarrow \text{O}_n$ and $\text{GL}_{2n} \downarrow \text{Sp}_{2n}$ extending the Littlewood restriction rules. Second, we use these branching rules and the combinatorics of $\text{GL}_n$-crystals to derive a formula for the graded multiplicity of a $K$-type in the regular functions on the $K$-nilpotent cone for $\text{GL}(n, \mathbb{R})$, $\text{GL}(n, \mathbb{C})$ and $\text{GL}(n, \mathbb{H})$. Due to work of Schmid and Vilonen, these graded multiplicities determine the Hodge $K$-character of the spherical principal series with infinitesimal character 0.
A remark on certain restricted plane partitions and crystal melting model
In this paper, we provide formulas calculating the partition functions of two types of plane partitions using the crystal melting model method introduced by Okounkov, Reshetikhin and Vafa. As applications, we obtain a product formula for the partition function of the plane partitions with a limit shape boundary. A corollary of this formula is the demonstration of the equivalence between this partition function and the open-closed string amplitude of the double$-\mathbb{P}^1$ model. We also derive a product formula for the partition function of symmetric plane partitions with a limit shape boundary.
The Orbits of the Action of the Cactus Group on Arc Diagrams
The cactus group $J_n$ is the $S_n$-equivariant fundamental group of the real locus of the Deligne-Mumford moduli space of stable rational curves with marked points. This group plays the role of the braid group for the monoidal category of Kashiwara crystals attached to a simple Lie algebra. Following Frenkel, Kirillov and Varchenko, one can identify the multiplicity set in a tensor product of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-crystals with the set of arc diagrams on a disc, thus allowing a much simpler description of the corresponding $J_n$-action. We address the problem of classifying the orbits of this cactus group action. Namely, we describe some invariants of this action and show that in some (fairly general) classes of examples there are no other invariants. Furthermore, we describe some additional relations, including the braid relation, that this action places on the generators of $J_n$.
Mirković-Vilonen Polytopes from Combinatorics
Mirković-Vilonen (MV) polytopes are a class of generalized permutahedra originating from geometric representation theory. In this paper we study MV polytopes coming from matroid polytopes, flag matroid polytopes, Bruhat interval polytopes, and Schubitopes. We give classifications and combinatorial conditions for when these polytopes are MV polytopes. We also describe how the crystal structure on MV polytopes manifests combinatorially in these situations. As a special case, we show that the Newton polytopes of Schubert polynomials and key polynomials are MV polytopes.
From plactic monoids to hypoplactic monoids
The plactic monoids can be obtained from the tensor product of crystals. Similarly, the hypoplactic monoids can be obtained from the quasi-tensor product of quasi-crystals. In this paper, we present a unified approach to these constructions by expressing them in the context of quasi-crystals. We provide a sufficient condition to obtain a quasi-crystal monoid for the quasi-tensor product from a quasi-crystal monoid for the tensor product. We also establish a sufficient condition for a hypoplactic monoid to be a quotient of the plactic monoid associated to the same seminormal quasi-crystal.
4d Crystal Melting, Toric Calabi-Yau 4-Folds and Brane Brick Models
We introduce a class of 4-dimensional crystal melting models that count the BPS bound state of branes on toric Calabi-Yau 4-folds. The crystalline structure is determined by the brane brick model associated to the Calabi-Yau 4-fold under consideration or, equivalently, its dual periodic quiver. The crystals provide a discretized version of the underlying toric geometries. We introduce various techniques to visualize crystals and their melting configurations, including 3-dimensional slicing and Hasse diagrams. We illustrate the construction with the D0-D8 system on $\mathbb{C}^4$. Finally, we outline how our proposal generalizes to arbitrary toric CY 4-folds and general brane configurations.
Charging solid partitions

Solid partitions are the 4D generalization of the plane partitions in 3D and Young diagrams in 2D, and they can be visualized as stacking of 4D unit-size boxes in the positive corner of a 4D room. Physically, solid partitions arise naturally as 4D molten crystals that count equivariant D-brane BPS states on the simplest toric Calabi-Yau fourfold, $\mathbb{C}^4$, generalizing the 3D statement that plane partitions count equivariant D-brane BPS states on $\mathbb{C}^3$. In the construction of BPS algebras for toric Calabi-Yau threefolds, the so-called charge function on the 3D molten crystal is an important ingredient -- it is the generating function for the eigenvalues of an infinite tower of Cartan elements of the algebra. In this paper, we derive the charge function for solid partitions. Compared to the 3D case, the new feature is the appearance of contributions from certain 4-box and 5-box clusters, which will make the construction of the corresponding BPS algebra much more complicated than in the 3D.
Extremal subsets and atom-positivity
Demazure crystals give a combinatorial framework in which to study Demazure modules. They are extremal, in that they satisfy Kashiwara's string property, and they are Demazure atom-positive, in that they decompose naturally into subsets called crystal Demazure atoms. The properties of extremality and atom-positivity are further linked by a conjecture of Polo, which concerns the structure of the tensor product of two Demazure modules. We study these two properties in isolation - first providing a recursive formula for generating crystal Demazure atoms which generalizes a result of Lascoux-Schützenberger, and then examining the structure of extremal subsets and their characters - before commenting on the connection (or lack thereof) between them.
