Network Realignment Complexes over General Graphs
Network realignment complexes were introduced by Kozlov. We generalise their definition to arbitrary connected base graphs. For a connected graph $G$, we characterise the connected components of the associated network realignment complex $X_G$ and show that $X_G$ admits an $\operatorname{Aut}(G)$-equivariant strong deformation retraction onto the disjoint union of a complete graph and a discrete $\operatorname{Aut}(G)$-space. For the complete base graph $K_n$, we study the metric structure of the network realignment graph $\mathcal{G}_n$ and obtain explicit upper and lower bounds for its diameter. Finally, we prove that $X_n$ is a cubical flag complex and that every automorphism of $X_n$ is induced by a relabelling of the underlying vertex set. In particular, $\operatorname{Aut}(X_n)\cong S_n$ for all $n\geq 5$.
On the Linearity of Squarefree Powers of Edge Ideals
Let $G$ be a graph and $I(G)$ its edge ideal. The $p$-th squarefree power $I(G)^{[p]}$ is the monomial ideal generated by squarefree monomials corresponding to the matchings of size $p$ of $G$. In this paper, we provide a combinatorial characterization of when $I(G)^{[p]}$ is linearly related, i.e., when its first syzygy module is generated by linear forms. Moreover, for a $1$-dimensional flag simplicial complex $Δ$ and its Stanley-Reisner ideal $I_Δ$, which arises as the edge ideal of the complement graph of $Δ$, we describe the shape of the Betti table of $I_Δ^{[p]}$ and we give a combinatorial characterization of when $I_Δ^{[p]}$ has a linear resolution.

A Complete Classification of Discrete $d$-Pseudomanifolds with at Most $2d+7$ Vertices
A simple undirected graph $M$ is called a discrete $d$-pseudomanifold if, for every vertex $v$, the induced subgraph $N_M(v)$ on the neighbors of $v$ is a discrete $(d-1)$-pseudomanifold, where a discrete $1$-pseudomanifold is defined to be an $n$-cycle with $n\geq 4$. These objects arise naturally as graph-theoretic analogues of simplicial pseudomanifolds and provide a purely combinatorial framework for studying manifold-like structures through local neighborhood conditions. Understanding discrete pseudomanifolds with a small number of vertices is therefore a fundamental problem in combinatorial topology and extremal graph theory. In this article, we first prove that every discrete $d$-pseudomanifold has at least $2(d+1)$ vertices. We then provide a complete classification of discrete $d$-pseudomanifolds with at most $2d+6$ vertices by determining all possible combinatorial types of such pseudomanifolds. Further, we establish an equivalence between discrete $d$-pseudomanifolds and edge graphs of flag normal $d$-pseudomanifolds. As a consequence, we derive a purely combinatorial characterization of flag normal $d$-pseudomanifolds with at most $2d+6$ vertices and prove that each such complex is a simplicial $d$-sphere. Finally, we show that this sphere characterization is optimal within the class of flag normal $d$-pseudomanifolds by constructing examples on $2d+7$ vertices that are not spheres. Specifically, we prove that, for $d\geq 3$, every flag normal $d$-pseudomanifold with at most $2d+7$ vertices is either a simplicial $d$-sphere or a flag triangulation of the $(d-2)$-fold suspension of $\mathbb{RP}^{2}$.

Orbits on a product of two flags and a line and the Bruhat order, II
Let $G=GL(n)$ be the $n\times n$ complex general linear group and let $\B_{n}$ be its flag variety. A Borel subgroup $B$ of $G$ acts on $\B_{n}\times \mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ diagonally with finitely many orbits. In this paper, we give an embedding of the $B$-orbits on $\B_{n}\times \mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ into the $B$-orbits on the flag variety $\B_{n+1}$ of $GL(n+1)$ and show that this correspondence respects closure relations and preserves monoid actions. As a consequence both closure relations and monoid actions on the set of all $B$-orbits on $\B_{n}\times\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ can be understood via the Bruhat order on the symmetric group on $n+1$ letters by using our results in \cite{Shpairs}. This amplifies work of Magyar \cite{Magyar} by making the closure relation more transparent and allows us to compute the monoid action using Demazure products. If $S_i$ is the stabilizer in $B$ of the line through the ith standard basis vector, we give an embedding of the $S_i$-orbits on $\B_n$ into the $B$-orbits in a single $G$-orbit in $\B_{n+1},$ and this embedding plays an essential role in the above results. We extend results from our papers \cite{CE21I}, \cite{CE21II}, and \cite{Shpairs}, and in particular show that for $S_i$-orbits on $\B_n,$ the closure ordering is given by the Richardson-Springer standard order.
Maniplexes as a Foundation for Cross-Linked Databases of Symmetric Objects
Graphs, maps on surfaces, and abstract polytopes are related combinatorial structures that tend to be studied by different communities using their own tools and databases. Maniplexes provide a unifying framework that captures all of them. A single database built around maniplexes would help researchers recognize shared structures and translate results across fields. Here we present a compact, interoperable format for storing maniplexes as edge-labeled graphs, designed with such a database in mind. As a first step, we connect two existing datasets of regular 4-maniplexes to the House of Graphs and to Potočnik's tetravalent graph censuses, using canonical forms of their flag graphs, 1-skeleton graphs, and 1-coskeleton graphs.

Avalanche homology of digraphs via sandpile dynamics
We introduce avalanche homology as a new (di)graph homology theory, based on the dynamics of the sandpile model. Avalanche homology is the simplicial homology of the avalanche complex generated from the sets of unstable vertices at the time steps of the sandpile dynamics. In this work we focus on digraphs, and our main results give the homotopy types of the avalanche complex for directed paths and directed cycles for certain initial configurations of the sandpile dynamics. Even for such simple digraphs a wide range of topologies can arise, and we compare this to the directed flag complex and to the recently introduced burning homology. Furthermore, the dynamics yields very naturally a filtered simplicial complex, and hence persistent avalanche homology.

The unique self-dual binary code of length 26 with minimum weight 6
The binary Type~I self-dual [26,13,6] code is classical. We give what appears to be the first direct non-computational proof of its uniqueness. We first determine the weight enumerators of the code and its shadow. Degree-one harmonic MacWilliams identities supply the required 1-designs. Elementary intersection counts then show that the two minimal half-shadows each contain 13 words; these words label the 26 coordinates as 13 points and 13 lines, and the two shadow classes become the point-stars and line-stars. From this structure we give two uniqueness proofs: one reconstructs the projective plane of order 3 and the plane code, including the full automorphism group PGL(3,3):2; the other deletes an intrinsic flag, obtains the odd Golay code together with a deep hole coset, and reconstructs the length 26 code and the size of the automorphism group from this coset datum. Thus the natural length-24 object behind the code is the odd Golay code together with its unique orbit of deep hole cosets.

On Two Approaches to Cluster Structures on Partial Flag Varieties
Continuing our previous work, this paper closely studies the relationship between the cluster algebra structures on the coordinate ring of Schubert cells and those on the coordinate ring of partial flag varieties. We give a finite-type classification for these cluster structures and point out several results that were left open in our previous work.

A Littlewood-Richardson Rule for Forest Polynomials via the Schubert Bialgebra
The forest polynomials $\mathfrak{P}_a$ of Nadeau-Tewari form a $\mathbb{Z}$-basis of $\mathbb{Z}[x_1, x_2, \dots]$ whose role for the cohomology of the quasisymmetric flag variety parallels that of Schubert polynomials for the classical flag variety. Nonnegativity of the structure constants $β^c_{a,b}$ in $\mathfrak{P}_a \mathfrak{P}_b = \sum_c β^c_{a,b} \mathfrak{P}_c$ is known, but no Littlewood-Richardson-style enumerative rule has been available. We give such a rule: $β^c_{a,b}$ counts pairs of forest RC graphs of forest-codes $a$ and $b$ whose lift product lands on a forest RC graph of forest-code and weight both equal to $c$. The same rule descends to the cup product on $H^\bullet(QFl_n)$. The proof introduces a Schubert bialgebra $\mathcal{A}$ and lifts the multiplication on its graded dual $\mathcal{D}$ to a product on a free abelian group $\mathcal{B}RC$ of bounded RC graphs; the same machinery yields enumerative LR rules for the dual Schubert, dual key, dual forest, and dual slide bases of $\mathcal{D}$.

Multigraded Regularity of the Complete Flag Variety
We study the multigraded regularity of the complete flag variety under the Plücker embedding. In particular, we prove inductive relationships about the regularity regions, and we provide some inner and outer bounds on the regions.

Ask zeta functions of central hyperplane arrangements
Given a central hyperplane arrangement $\mathcal{A}$ defined over a field of characteristic zero, we construct matrices of linear forms whose local ask zeta functions are recovered by the Igusa local zeta function of the cone over $\mathcal{A}$. Our construction extends a previously established connection between ask zeta function of hypergraphs and the Igusa local zeta function of Boolean arrangements. From a combinatorial standpoint, we introduce the truncated flag Hilbert-Poincaré series of $\mathcal{A}$, obtained as a rank specialisation of the flag Hilbert-Poincaré series of the cone over $\mathcal{A}$. Whenever $\mathcal{A}$ admits good reduction over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$, suitable substitutions of the variables of its truncated flag Hilbert-Poincaré series recover the local ask zeta functions associated with $\mathcal{A}$. Such formulae provide a means to study the analytic properties of the ask zeta functions considered, as well as to derive their reduced and topological relatives.

Bipartite cuts in Ramsey-Turán style
We prove that every $K_5$-free $n$-vertex graph with sublinear independence number can be made bipartite by removing at most $n^2(1/18+o(1))$ edges, where the constant $1/18$ is best possible. The proof method is related to extensions of Turán Theorem in edge-weighted settings, and part of the proof uses flag algebra.

Large Independent Sets in Flag Spheres
For every $d \geq 4$, we construct a family of $(d-1)$-dimensional flag simplicial spheres $\mathcal K_n$ whose graphs contain independent sets of size asymptotically equal to the number of vertices. More precisely, we prove that for sufficiently large $n$, $$ α(G(\mathcal K_n)) \geq f_0(\mathcal K_n) - \frac{C\,f_0(\mathcal K_n)}{\left(\log f_0(\mathcal K_n)\right)^{\lfloor d/2 \rfloor-1}},$$ where $C = C(d) > 0$. This disproves a recent conjecture of Chudnovsky and Nevo.
Higher cotangent cohomology for Stanley-Reisner rings
Inspired by work of Altmann and Christophersen, we study the graded pieces of the cotangent cohomology $T^i_{S_{\mathcal{K}}}$, $i\geq 3$ of the Stanley-Reisner ring $S_{\mathcal{K}}$ associated to a simplicial complex $\mathcal{K}$. We prove a localization formula allowing one to reduce to the case of negative weights. Our results give a complete description of $T^3$ and $T^4$ in terms of the topology of $\mathcal{K}$ whenever $\mathcal{K}$ is a flag complex. As an application, we give a sufficient criterion for the vanishing of $T^3$ for simplicial spheres, classify two-spheres that have vanishing $T^3$, and show that the boundary complex of the dual associahedron has vanishing $T^3$. Our results make use of the arborescent resolutions considered by Hancharuk, Laurent-Gengoux, and Strobl. We give an alternative and self-contained treatment of these resolutions that may be of independent interest.

Grassmannian quantum cohomology in the infinite limit and total positivity
The theory of total positivity was shown by Lusztig to be intrinsically linked to the canonical basis with its positivity properties. When we restrict ourselves to studying total positivity just for the set of lower-triangular unipotent Toeplitz matrices, say in type $A$, then there is a similar link with the quantum cohomology rings of flag varieties and the Schubert bases and their positivity properties. Namely, this builds on a theory of Dale Peterson that gives a uniform Lie-theoretic description of all of the quantum cohomology rings $qH^*(G/P)$. In a precursor to this paper, the Schubert basis and quantum parameters in $qH^*(SL_n/B)$, which restrict to positive-valued functions on totally positive Toeplitz matrices, were analysed with respect to their limiting behaviour as $n\to\infty$, uncovering a novel connection with the classical Edrei theorem on parametrising the infinite totally positive Toeplitz matrices. In this paper we study the Grassmannian case, using the conventions from the $SL_{n}/B$ setting as a guide, and we determine the quantum parameter and Schubert class asymptotics in different scenarios. Along the way, we obtain a new interpretation of the strange duality involution on the localised quantum cohomolgy ring of the Grassmannian. Finally, we prove an asymptotic formula for quantum parameters in a partial flag setting, and we furthermore formulate some conjectures concerning partial flag varieties and related quantum cohomology asymptotics.
The Gröbner Version of White's Conjecture is False
We show that the toric ideal of the Fano matroid polytope does not have a quadratic Gröbner basis. This resolves in the negative a strong version of White's conjecture from matroid theory. This result was found independently by De Loera, Ferroni, Morales, and Rambau. Our approach is based on a new characterization of regular unimodular flag triangulations, which reduces the problem to an instance of SMT involving boolean and real variables. We then use an SMT solver to prove unsatisfiability. Using this approach, we also show that all 8-element matroids which do not have the Fano matroid or its dual as a minor, with the possible exception of the matroid $T_8$, have toric ideals which admit quadratic Gröbner bases.
There are matroid toric ideals without quadratic Gröbner bases
Our paper shows that if a matroid contains the Fano plane or its dual as a minor, then its toric ideal does not have any quadratic Gröbner basis. More than 25 years ago, Hibi, Herzog, and Sturmfels established a direct connection between the existence of quadratic Gröbner bases and regular unimodular flag triangulations. Our paper solves a famous question posed by Herzog and Hibi on a polyhedral reformulation for the existence of quadratic Gröbner bases: we show that the base polytopes of the Fano plane and its dual do not have regular unimodular flag triangulations which implies the main result on Gröbner bases. Our proof relies on several novel tools: a lemma that connects the $1$-skeleton of a lattice polytope to the lattice points in its dilations, an encoding with Boolean formulas and SAT solvers, and symmetry-breaking arguments.

Polyhedral models for K-theory of toric and flag varieties
In 1992, Pukhlikov and Khovanskii provided a description of the cohomology ring of toric variety as a quotient of the ring of differential operators on spaces of virtual polytopes. Later Kaveh generalized this construction to the case of cohomology rings for full flag varieties. In this paper we extend Pukhlikov-Khovanskii type presentation to the case of K-theory of toric and flag varieties. First, we study the Frobenius algebras obtained as quotients of the group algebra of free abelian group (possibly of infinite rank). Then we apply this construction to define a K-ring associated to a linear family of (virtual) polytopes. We study in detail two examples of such families: the family of integer (virtual) polytopes with a fixed normal fan and the family of (virtual) Gelfand-Zetlin polytopes. We show that the K-theory of toric and flag varieties can be realized as K-rings of the above families and use this to get natural set of relations in the above K-rings. Further, we describe the classes of structure sheaves of toric orbit closures and Schubert varieties in type A flag varieties. Finally, we show that our results also hold true in T-equivariant setting.

Ideals defining components of two-row Springer fibers
Springer fibers are subvarieties of the flag variety parameterized by nilpotent matrices. They are central objects of study in geometry representation theory. This paper focuses on two-row Springer fibers, those corresponding to nilpotent matrices with two Jordan blocks. Irreducible components of two-row Springer fibers are in bijection with two-row standard Young tableaux and also with noncrossing matchings. Inspired by the combinatorial commutative algebra of matrix Schubert varieties, we define a polynomial ideal for each noncrossing matching and prove that these ideals define the corresponding components of the Springer fiber. Our proofs leverage geometric descriptions of Springer fibers established by Fung, Stroppel--Webster, Fresse, and Goldwasser--Nadeem--Sun--Tymoczko. Using these ideals to compute examples, we give two conjectural formulas for the cohomology class of each component of a two-row Springer fiber. We apply commutative algebra techniques to prove these conjectures for a specific family of two-row tableaux.

Motivic Segre classes of Schubert cells and the connective formal group law
We use the connective formal group law to define a one-parameter ($β$-)deformation of the motivic Segre classes of Schubert cells in the $d$-step flag variety. This $β$-deformation specializes to the motivic Segre classes of Schubert cells when $β=1$ and to the Segre-Schwartz-MacPherson classes of Schubert cells when $β=0$. We define rational function representatives for the $β$-deformed classes in the $d=1$ case in terms of a solvable lattice model, and we prove a combinatorial formula for the structure constants in the $β$-deformed basis in the $d=1$ case using Knutson-Tao puzzles. The proof of the puzzle formula involves intertwiners for representations of the multi-parameter quantum group of type $\widehat{a}_2$. We show that our $β$-deformations can be viewed as quotients of canonical elements in a quotient of the equivariant algebraic cobordism ring of the cotangent bundle of the flag variety by proving that the canonical elements satisfy a GKM type condition.
